AN: It's been crazy, I lost all the files when I switched computers. And since I'm bored and just finished a megawatch of CSI Miami, it inspired me to go digging. So here's try number 3 I guess

He notices them immediately as he sits down in the interrogation room. Her bright green eyes shone through a curtain of platinum blonde hair. With a soft smile she takes a seat across from him "I'm used to bumping into you, but I never imagined I'd bump into you here." he chuckles deeply, his head shaking lightly. "Your Lieutenant has it out for me" she tilted her head, her eyes sparking in curiosity and dare he say, apologetic.

"He's like a hound with a scent, but regardless... It's very strange to have so many victims attached to you. Three bodies all with the same markings? That's going to raise suspicion." he can't help but nod. It does look bad. I did do it, but the fact that they swooped in so quickly, I've got to stop with the Tauntings. Boredom is going to be the death of me

"I've got a bunch of clinics in the Red Light Districts of the city, I operate and manage a bunch of them myself. Of course they have my card or even a hair on them, they know my clinics have a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy. I have quite a lot of prostitutes coming in and out all over the city" he hopes his tone is smooth and uncaring. The last he needs is for Calleigh to turn against him completely. She nods her head, writing notes in her notepad.

This is the first time he's got to actually see her in action. Usually they'd bump into each other as he trained for the marathons. Her hair usually in a ponytail or bun, adorned in jogging clothes, sometimes shorts and bra other times tanks and leggings. Seeing her in her professional clothes up close and in person made his heart jump. He's always been attracted to women but she's the only one that has managed to unlock unlock? is that a good word? eh, who cares she's the only one to unlock the need to not only own but to breed and procreate. She's got an eyebrow raised at him, the only thing he's managed to catch is the word "alibi". Sinking back into his chair with a sigh, he hopes to answer her honestly.

"I've been working odd hours. the Summer sees a rise in patients at an insane rate. Something about the heat that brings in a huge wave of people. There's logs and even security footage from multiple hospitals. I've seen all three girls in two different clinics. I wish I could be more specific but" he throws his hands up in defeat "I took an oath just as you did. I've brought no harm to anyone." her gaze is inquisitive.
"We always get a spike in crime during the hotter months. The heat is unsettling and welcoming for a lot of people. We'll look into your alibi to possibly rule you out. But I should still warn you to not leave the city." he smiles, in what he hopes is a charming way.

"I've got charity events and business to attend to. I have to leave the city. I wouldn't mind being tailed or even having a babysitter if you're willing to do so" his tone is low and suggestive. Unable to keep her shock but still managing to play it off well, Calleigh chuckles and shakes her head. "That won't be necessary Esteban. Just make sure it's documented and you don't try to escape. It makes it harder to argue if you're on the run. Do you have any business to attend to any time soon?"

Aww, she's worried about me. The mornings we bumped into each other have proven to be quite peaceful. They'd made a silent agreement to meet practically every Sunday, he even thought about taking her out for breakfast. But he's smart enough to know that the probability of her saying yes now were astronomically low. "Just my marathons. Might have to head to NYC for my father's new condo, but for you, I'll avoid it and stay here" he gives her a wink and she rolls her eyes.

With a huff she gets up, "we'll be in touch more often" she hands him her business card " I guess you're finally getting my number after all. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, give me a ring. It'll reflect better on you." he gives her a smile as she leaves.

With an appreciative gaze of her body Esteban makes the move to get up. He leaves the room with nothing but pride. It's only when he's watching her hair sway with each step that he notices the feeling of eyes on the back of his head. Turning, he catches the Lt glaring at him. With a smirk he heads out.

His father is waiting for him in the car, eyes ablaze. "Mi hijo, I told you your boredom was going to cause us trouble." Esteban sighs I should've expected the lecture "Yo se Papi, los siento. It's nothing but circumstantial evidence anyway. That uhm- that woman I've been speaking to you about.." his father couldn't help but break the hard glare at the mention of a woman. Not just any woman of course. "Ms. Duquesne was your interrogator? How did that go?"

Esteban gave a goofy smile in return. "Make the call, she's mine Papi." the older Navarro's eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "You really do feel something towards her huh, not just as a plaything?" Esteban shook his head vehemently. "I told you she'd be my wife someday. I never thought seeing her in her zone would trigger such feelings. But I-I can't explain what I'm feeling. I get giddy and nervous and feel like a kid whenever I'm around her. Caine has caused a storm with the Cruz bust, I heard the Mala Noche making plans to take her as revenge. I'm going to start grooming now so she'll be more pliable." Diego gave a happy nod, pulling his phone out to inform the Chief and O'Shay on the recent revelation. Sitting back, Esteban sighs happily. He's been preparing for moths now, unsure on how to approach her. But with the investigation at its peak and Caine's insistence he'd have to lay low. He can use this time to get the both of them acquainted with one another.

Horatio watched as Esteban walked away from interrogation with a scowl. The way it went spoke volumes. Heading back into the lab he finds Calleigh scrutinizing evidence. she's been closed off as of late. It's been a while since he's had a 1v1 with her, he's almost ashamed to admit that he's pretty clueless on her personal life. "Hello ma'am" she looks up with a small smile. Her eyes barely reflected the joy in it. "What can I do for you Horatio?" he furrows his eyebrows, unsure on how to continue without sounding accusatory. "Your interrogation with Esteban, I couldn't help but notice how... familial the two of you were." she tilts her head confused but not defensive. "We've bumped into each other quite a few times on jogs. Bal Harbor is either a starting or ending point for a lot of marathons, so we end up bumping into each other frequently. I've been meaning to find you about that. I told O'Shay already so there wasn't any conflict of interest."

Horatio found himself becoming annoyed. The hell does she mean she told O'Shay already? When has he even had time to come and see her? he gives her a small smile so she wouldn't clam up. Calleigh is good at keeping both her emotions and secrets to herself. If she closes off now, he's afraid she won't ever speak up. "O'Shay?" she nods her head, now looking annoyed buy not necessarily aimed towards him. "He's such a bother, he's head of the Mayor's Civilian Oversight Panel. Has been for a while now. Before Stetler used to come to me for... incite I guess. But since he's been arrested I've been answering the Chief and O'Shay directly." her tone is innocent and her emotionless face is too.

"the Chief?" she gives him an apologetic look. just how long has she been keeping this from him? And why is he skipping ranks and going to her in the first place? Nothing pisses me off more than being kept out the loop "Yea, it's been like this for a while. I was going to tell you but you've been MIA most times I remember to" she looks reproachful and that's enough for him at the moment. "Well, have they been around yet? This is the perfect time to see just how far the Navarro reach goes. If O'Shay is on their books, whose to say the Chief isn't either." she bristles at this revelation. That never even occurred to her? Is my Bullet Girl slipping? I'm going to have to keep an eye on her to see if they've been grooming her. "They ask me to expand on the reports since I'm the one signing off on them, it's not like I can avoid them" she looks reproachful again, maybe they haven't gotten to her, not yet at least. "We can use this to our advantage, Esteban is making a mockery out of us." she shifts uncomfortably. "Problem ma'am?"

"Yea, this never turns out well. I'm all for getting the killer off the street but this constant hounding of a suspect usually doesn't end well for us. The Chief has been calling me a lot more as of late, and I can't keep giving him scraps." she turns her face down worried "I- I can only tell him what I know and it's not a lot. Esteban might be guilty and he might not be, either way this crusade against him... I have a feeling this isn't going to turn out well" she shuffles again, clearly uncomfortable she knows something "And why is that ma'am?" she turns a regretful eye to him, quickly covering it with her straight face. "I- I want to get the killer the right way, last thing we need is to try Esteban and Double Jeopardy comes into play. Solid, conclusive evidence. Not even a confession will help in this case. He needs hard proof against him or else this isn't going to turn out in our favor. His father owns all of South Florida, including this lab. I don't want to risk anything." he leans in, trying not to give off the anger he feels building -the right way? I know exactly what she means by this, if the Chief let something slip she's trying her best to soften the blow. As much as this hurts, it seems I have to keep her on a leash. Even though it isn't her doing, she's inadvertently drawing lines and standing against me-

Before he could say anything, her attention is immediately diverted to the door. "Calleigh..." he turns with a scowl how dare he impede on my people? He needs to hurry up and retire so I can take my rightful place "Lt" his voice is cordial, but the look in his eyes are predatory. "You've been keeping tabs on my CSIs?" the Chief smiles menacingly, he can hear Calleigh shuffling around nervously again. "Did you need something Chief?" He called her by her first name, since when have they been so close?

Ignoring his question the Chief addresses her while maintaining eye contact with Horatio "Yes, I thought I'd personally come down for your report seeing how everything has you guys busy. But let's take this back to my office, wouldn't want an audience after all." she packs away the evidence and with a look of sorrow aimed towards Horatio walks off. Their body language spoke of the same familiarity she had earlier with Esteban.

this, this isn't good. it seems like a coup is afoot and one of my strongest pawns is being used for the game Heading back to his own office, Calleigh's melodic laugh catches his attention. While he can see she's playing her role, there's a genuine spark in her eye. "I might've accidentally burned O'Shay's bolo tie with acid. I told him not to touch or lean against anything" she looks like a scheming child. at least her disdain for the man seems just as strong.

But the fact that she isn't on guard with the Big Man is enough for Horatio to realize he truly hasn't had any insight on Calleigh I need to start checking in on her more, she's being taken from right under my watch, and no one touches my people
