The Borden Family Legacy

A Heartland Fanfic

Chapter One

Prologue

I am a big fan of Fanfiction, so I felt it was time to take a shot at my own story. With Graham leaving the show I felt that a story focused on the potential "future" Borden Family legacy is needed. I completely respect and understand Graham's decision but to be honest watching Seasons 1-13 has changed for me. And I have caught glimpses of Season 14 but have no drive to watch it. I am sure I am not alone in my thoughts and really still do have a passion for the love story of Amy and Ty. This feeling drove my need to write this story. Some of my characters are fairly true to the show, but I have taken the liberty to develop the others in a way that is my depiction of them. So, here are the characters:

I do not own the Heartland story and its characters both from the books and television series.

This story I present is my interpretation of the future of the Amy and Ty Borden family.

My story is fiction developed form the passion for this outstanding drama series.

There is some mild mature content throughout the story. I mean it is Amy and Ty.

Amy Fleming Borden – After her mother's tragic death two major things happened to Amy. First, she "fixed" the horse called Spartan who was the reason that she and her mother went to save him thus causing of her death. By fixing him she realized that she had the gift passed down from her mother which would set the tone for the rest her life – Saving horses and rehabilitating them. A skilled she inherited from her mother, Marion, and her grandmother, Lyndy along with her blond hair and deep blue eyes. Although they are not characters in the story, they are a great influence on Amy affecting everything she does. Second, a young juvenile delinquent, was brought on by her mother to work out the rest of his probation. Ty Borden helped her recover from the loss of her mother and instilled confidence that helped her with the realization that she could be successful in life. He also helped her realize and understand love. Although there were initial challenges their love grew into one that is seen by everyone they touch. She is the mother of 4 young girls who are the light of her life. Horses – Spartan (Retired) and Blaze

Ty Borden – Growing up he was a victim of an abusive childhood and a lack of real love. His unloving father left when he was 6 years old and when he showed up later in his life caused nothing but problems and confusion for him. His mother was beaten and abused becoming reliant on drugs and alcohol. When she was remarried to Wade, Ty's life became even more of a nightmare. Eventually it caused him to be put into the juvenile delinquent system after Ty almost killed him while he was beating his mom. But like most bad places that incident brought him to Heartland and the love of his life Amy. He was confident that Marion Fleming saved him and knew in her heart that he and Amy would save each other. Both of them were confident that Marion was sure that they were meant to be lifelong soulmates. His light brown hair and deep emerald, green eyes caught many girls' attention, but he soon found out that they were only meant for one girl – Amy. Horses – Harley (Retired) and Triumph

Lyndy Marion Borden – The oldest child of Amy and Ty, she was named after the two influential people in their parents' life. Lyndy Bartlett was her Grandpa Jack's wife and of course Amy's mom, Marion. She was almost 11 and extremely mature and caring. She not only looked exactly like her mother, with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes, but also had the "gift" that was passed down from her mother and grandmother. Grandpa Jack would say that she along with her mother and older cousin Katie were spitting images of Marion – in looks and love of horses. She loved her parents deeply along with the 3 younger siblings. Katie, her cousin and Lyndy are very close even though they are almost 4 years apart in age. She was nurturing and had a strong love of her entire family. She had a special attachment to her mother and their relationship was very important to her as a confidant and someone to lean on. She also had a deep respect and love of her father, proud of what he had accomplished in his life. Bust most of all, when some kids would be embarrassed, she loved the way that her parents looked at each other and were there for each other. It was something that she hoped that she found one day in her life. Horse - Sundance

Annabelle Lillian (Annie) and Addabelle Amelia (Addie) Borden (The Twins) – Identical to a fault in looks but not personality, these 8-year-olds have a joy for life. Like Lyndy they have a deep love of family but like a typical 8-year-old sometimes have problems showing it. They both have light brown hair and green eyes just like their father, but their personality differences are readily seen. Annie is like her mother – a true cowgirl with a love of horses and show jumping. Addie is like her father, in attitude, motorbikes and passion. She is comfortable on a horse but her true love is for the things that helped build her father into what he is today. Where Lyndy was strongly bonded with Amy, Addie was that way with her father. Annie was more like Lyndy in her lover and feeling for the family bonds. Annie loves when her parents are affectionate but hides it some, where Addie not so much. They love to do fake gagging when they catch them kissing and publicly hugging each other. Like most twins they have a unique connection. They feel what the other feels even when they are not together. And close family members will swear that they have heard them use a special language only meant for them. They are rambunctious and adventurous which sometimes causes some chaos. Horses - (Annie) Theo - Addie (Boone)

Madelene Louise (Maddie) Borden – This out of control 5-year-old is a force to be reckoned with. With blond hair and green eyes, she is truly a combination of her parents. She loves the outdoors and horses but also love to go for motorcycle rides with her dad – that her mother cringes at. She is fearless and is constantly talking – asking questions and giving her opinion. She is very close with Georgie, her older cousin and Katie's sister. Both are Lou and Peter's daughters. Maddie is a true joy on one hand and a lot to handle on another. She looks up to her older sisters, especially Lyndy and deeply loves her mom and dad. Although she cringes sometimes when are parents are all lovey dovey deep down it makes her feel happy to see them so in love. She is very inquisitive, and her questions sometimes are way above her age. Amy and Ty take the time to detail answers for her in a way that protects her innocence. She is tough for her age and stands up to those who challenge her or and of the immediate family. Grandpa Jack says she is an old soul and reminds him of Lyndy his first wife. Horse - Mystic

Lou Fleming – Sister of Amy. Mother of Katie and Georgie. She is divorced from their father, Peter Morris who lives in Vancouver. Owner of Maggie's and the "Dude Ranch".

Georgie Flemming Morris – 22-year-old adopted daughter of Lou and Peter and sister to Katie. She is an Olympic horse jumping champion and now coaches and trains prospective new talent in Show Jumping and Trick Riding. She is engaged to Steven Weber; her childhood sweetheart and they live in the renovated loft apartment that Amy and Ty built right after them were married. Steven is training to be a vet and hopes to practice with Ty at The Miracle Ranch Rehab Center for Horses.

Katie Morris – Daughter of Peter and Lou. Currently a 15-year-old high schooler who shares an affinity to horses like her aunt Amy but would like to be a teacher. She is best friends with her cousin Lyndy. Although a few years apart they are inseparable.

Grandpa Jack Bartlett – Patriarch of the Bartlett, Fleming, Morris, Borden clan. Grandpa to Lou and Amy, GG to all their children and husband to Lisa. Father-in-Law to Tim Fleming.

Lisa Stillman – Second wife to Jack. Owner of the prolific Fairfield Stables. A solid partner to Jack, step grandma to Lou and Amy and loved by all of her adopted great grandchildren. She also has a special relationship with Ty, since his mother has not always been there for him.

Tim Fleming – Father of Lou and Amy who missed ten years of their lives when drugs and alcohol forced his wife, Marion to divorce him and his father-in-law, Jack to have him leave Heartland. A rodeo legend he returned after Marion's death and after many years was able to regain some connection with his daughters and the family. Still though he is self-centered and opinionated. His treatment of Peter (Lou's former husband) and Ty is demeaning, excusing it to protecting his daughters. Although it has calmed down, there is always tension when the family gets together, mostly caused by him. He married Casey, who somehow controls him (most of the time), he still lives on Big Pine ranch which borders with Heartland.

Lily Borden – Mother of Ty who fought hard to rehab from her addiction problems and most importantly to reconnect with her son Ty. With support from Amy and Ty, she has stayed clean with the drive to be a part of her grandchildren's lives – which she accomplished. Her second husband Wade also worked hard to clean up and made amends with Ty, although there is still some trepidation in the relationship.

The family lives in a house that Amy and Ty had built right after Lyndy was born. In the years since then they built a 20-stall barn with tack and feed rooms as well as offices for Amy and Ty. "Miracle Ranch" has all it needs to be self-sustaining, and it has become the home base for the family business, "The Marion Fleming Miracle Equine Center." As you can guess their focus is the rehab and rehoming of horses. Ty provides vet care and Amy takes care of the emotional needs. Their reputations have built a solid business with their clientele continuing to grow. Their future is bright, and Amy and Ty are living the life they dreamed about early in their relationship.

As you will see my main focus will be on the Borden Family, specifically Amy and Ty, but other family members will be involved. There may even be a few others thrown in. I have several storylines in mind but to be honest I currently have no idea where this will take me, so we shall see. My only hope is that you will enjoy the ride. Bottom line, Amy and Ty's love story is the real drive behind the Heartland Story. So let the Legacy begin. Enjoy!
