A fourteen-year-old blonde girl swiftly ran down the red-carpeted castle hallways hoping to make it to an important meeting before it was too late. She was told in advance there was going to be an important meeting that she needed to attend, but the girl accidentally overslept last night and this resulted in her becoming late for her training in becoming a queen. The girl can already hear her mother's angry voice telling her she's becoming 'Tardy'.
As soon as the teenager woke up, the girl had to improvise by showering quickly, dressing up formally to try and hide any imperfections, and immediately rush to the meeting room before it was too late. She didn't even have time to do her hair. So instead, she had to tie it back into a ponytail. it was honestly better than having to walk around with a wet mess on top of your head.
The girl already knew the 'ins' and 'outs' of the castle so navigating through the twists and turns of the royal hallways isn't going to be a problem for her. She lives inside the castle anyway so it wouldn't be an excuse to use on her mother. If she were though, she'll receive a punishment for lying which she had to endure in the past. It was a traumatising experience, to say the least. She's been trying everything to become the best queen she could be, but something hasn't clicked yet for some reason.
Her breathing became ragged as she quickly becomes fatigued from her long run. Sweat was forming around her face as her unfit body tries to cope with her. The castle is massive if anyone was to see from the outside, and with the hallways stretching everywhere, a person who's not familiar with the directions can easily get lost.
In the distance, the girl gave a satisfied sigh as she can see two familiar giant golden doors right in front of her implying that she finally arrived, but not in time.
As the girl approaches the expensive door, she slowed down just so she could catch her breath. Her head spun a little bit but was glad that it went away in a second. She wasn't fit in any way. More malnourished to be exact. She needed a way to fit into her dress to show off that she was next in line to be queen, the future of Mewni. A lot of the dresses given to her were extremely tight for her body, so her mother suggested a diet that could help her. As a result, a lot of her weight went away.
The blonde girl pressed her ear against the door to check if anyone was speaking. To her horror, not a single word was heard. This was serious.
With her heart racing a million beats a minute, the girl gently pushed the heavy golden door allowing her to see everyone who was seated in their respected seats looking at her with a deadly stare. All their stares didn't help the girl calm down a single bit. She was screwed.
The meeting room was a massive room that contained many chairs that surrounded the long wooden table for the guests. At the end of the table, there are three customised chairs for the three royalties to sit down on. Around them, were blue walls with giant square windows for light to enter the room and give it life.
Standing at her spot, she turned her head to see an angry blue-haired queen glaring at her from a distance. Her obvious frown could kill anyone who dares messes with her.
"I see that you've finally arrived, princess Star Butterfly." The queen says with a tone telling her that she was more than in trouble.
"I greatly apologies for my tardiness, mother," Star replied bowing at the doorway apologetically. "I promise you that it will never happen again."
"You've given me the same excuse way too many times." The queen sighed as she rolls her eyes disappointedly at her daughter's carelessness.
"When will you change? I cannot have a ruler whose an utter disappointment to the Butterfly family! If I leave the wand in your hands, it'll be certain that Mewni will collapse in a matter of seconds!"
As Star continued to bow, her mother's words stung harshly, but it shouldn't be new to her as she became used to it, or not. Star was trying her best to hold in her tears from her mother's harsh words. Not a single time has she ever said something positive to her. Not even caring! Not a single, 'Are you okay?' or 'How are you feeling?'. What kind of mother is she?!
"Now, are you going to continue standing there embarrassing yourself, or are you going to sit down? You've wasted enough as it is!" The queen finished as she continues to stare at her daughter.
Suddenly, the room stayed dead quiet from the yelling. The others who witnessed the situation were also afraid if they do anything, it could trigger another yell from the queen. They knew that the queen is prone to yelling at people, especially her daughter. A couple of them thought they witnessed a murder as they look down at the long table in front of them to avoid the silent awkwardness.
Standing up straight, Star took in a deep breath to ensure that she was a strong teenage girl. She relaxed her face giving everyone the impression that her mother's words didn't phase her and that she made sure she learnt her lesson. Star made sure her face was as deadpan as possible so that she appeared formal for the occasion.
Walking to her seat, a couple of people from around the table gave Star a worried and sympathising glace. From all their meetings, they've seen the queen always yell out intrusive comments are her daughter. Every meeting, they always see the daughter never come with a smile.
Sitting down in her seat, which was next to her mother, Star's breathing started to speed up a little silently. Star feared her mother severely. From the other side of the queen, the king leaned back a little in his chair to see his daughter who looked more than tired from everything she's endured in her lifetime.
The king, unlike the queen, actually cared deeply for the well-being of his beautiful daughter. Whenever he catches his daughter being harassed by her mother, he always made sure his daughter feels better at the end. He was the only one to look out for the princess. Seeing his daughter hurt makes him feel hurt as well.
"Please don't cry, sweetie-pie..." The king muttered out quietly. "Stay strong for me..."
"What was that, River?" The queen asked as she was interrupted.
Sitting properly in his chair, he turned to his wife. "Nothing, Moon. Please continue."
The guests walked out the door as the meeting has finally met its end. The only people remaining were the Butterfly family as they finalise their work which consists of writing and reading. There was a pile of papers given to them during their meeting. Moon was fine with it as she's done this for a long time now, but the other two were more than tired from sitting in the same spot for a long period.
When it came to packing up, Star was more than happy to leave the room until she heard her mother's voice which made the blonde girl grimace.
"Star, would you please stay behind for a second? I need to talk to you."
Star froze at the doorway at her mother's request. This was nothing new to her, but it still terrifies her to know that her mother is going to do her 'disciplinary actions' again. Star's been through her torture methods, but it's always different. It ranges from her bringing up everything she's done her whole life, to abusing her physically.
"River, please wait outside for us," Moon says as she walks to Star and placed her hand on her shoulder causing the broken girl to jerk severely.
"I'd prefer seeing what yo-"
"That was not a request, River. Wait for us outside." Moon gave her husband a stern glare telling him that she wasn't messing around. She was never in the first place.
River was about to revolt back until he knew she wasn't going to give up so easily. His wife never backs down on anything she's going to do. It was a part of being queen.
As River walks out of the room, he turned back to give one more sad glance at his daughter. His heart broke seeing as her eyes watered, begging him for help. But he knew that he couldn't do anything to change Moon's mind. He did everything he could in the past to ease Moon's strictness, but nothing change her mentality.
With the door closing behind River, Star was left alone with Moon in the room. What will she do to her?
"Alright young lady, why were you late for the meeting?" Moon asks from behind Star as she crosses her arms.
"I-I accidentally slept in, mother," Star replied quietly as fear takes over as she turns to face her mother in absolute fear.
"Even if I have told several times beforehand that there would be a meeting, you still forgot?" Moon's voice raised slightly. "How could you be so careless about becoming a queen?!"
"N-No! I did remember!" Star replied looking up at her queen, "I was just really tired yesterday from our training!"
Moon shook her in disappointment. Her daughter was an absolute failure. "I thought all this waiting, you'd freshen up a little before the meeting but look at you, you almost look like a mess. Your hair's even a mess."
Star's eyes started to water even more. "I tried, mother! I really did! It was not my intention to embarrass you!"
Out of nowhere, a hand came in contact with Star's face making a slapping sound. The slap was so strong that it caused the girl to harshly fall to the soft carpeted ground. Tears roll down the princess's face as she felt a warm stinging pain on her left cheek. Star tried her best to crawl backwards to find comfort.
They've just started talking and already she was hit in the face. Was that new to her?
"Don't you dare lie to me, Star! You know I hate it when you lie!" Moon yelled out at her daughter who was more than already distraught. "I thought St. Olga's taught you many things including manners, but it looks like I was proven wrong..."
"P-Please...! I-I don't want to go back to that place...!" Star begged from the floor. "I s-suffered enough as it is..."
"Well, from the looks of it, it looks like you haven't learnt anything from that reformatory school," Moon replied sternly. "Maybe it's time for you to return."
"NO, PLEASE! MOTHER, I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK!" Star yelled out begging her mother to not send her back to that nightmare of a school.
"I'M SORRY THAT I'VE LIED TO YOU! ANYTHING BUT !"
Moon looked down at her daughter in disgust. Tears were running down Star's cheek. A real princess would stand up for herself to prove a point or to assert dominance on someone. But sadly, Star seemed to be the sensitive type. Just the smallest thing could break the princess's heart. What kind of princess would easily be threatened by discipline?
The queen sighed as she rubbed her forehead in embarrassment. She was glad no one was in the room besides herself and her.. daughter. If they were to see the future ruler of the Mewni on the ground fragile, they'd rethink living in Mewni. "Fine! Just get off the ground for me. You're making yourself more a mess from the filth on the ground."
The princess nodded as stood up from the ground swiftly, dusting off any dirt or dust from her blue dress. The damage to her outfit is way past repairable. There were crumples and rips from when she was running down the hall earlier and just now when she was smacked to the ground.
"Star, I've noticed that you've been acting more than tardy recently. I've been talking to your father about how we could help you become a better person. In the end, we've come up with two choices. We've given you the option to decide."
Star's heart dropped once again. She has to endure it again.
Walking around Star, Moon started to talk again. "Our kingdom has gone through several raids from monsters and over time, they've become worse and worse. Our guards and knights have been training a lot to defend us, but it looks like it won't be enough in the future."
Star stood in the centre of the circle her mother was making. The princess couldn't help but look down as she tries to avoid her deadly glaze. Her heart was beating even faster than before as she waits for her mother to deliver the message.
"But if we partner up with the Lucitor Kingdom, our defences will be a million times greater than it was before," Moon says stopping in front of her daughter. She looked down at her weak daughter.
Anxiety started to build inside the princess at the thought of teaming up with the Lucitor Kingdom. She can't imagine seeing her ex again in person. Seeing him angry at her just reminded her of her mother which she tries to forget. Just the name itself sends her back to his verbal and physical abuse. Star can still hear his voice and feel the painful touches from when they were a couple.
When they first became a couple, Star thought that he would become one of the first people that will treat her right as a person. To her surprise, she was correct! He treated her as if she was the most important person in the world, and she loved every moment of that. The two would constantly hang out in their spare time, more than they should of. They would go to each other's kingdom and do whatever early teenagers do.
In their relationship, Star thought he would be there to defend her when her mother gets involved. Thought. He did though, a couple of times until he started to get possessive of her. He would always ask her to stay with him whenever they go in public and get jealous when she talks to other boys and because of that, he would constantly get angry at her to the point where she angers him severely, he would physically hurt her. She would never imagine him hurting, but Star should've seen the signs before it was too late.
Next thing you know, a couple of days passed alone, Star pulled in all her courage and told him that they should split up. The princess already knew that he wasn't going to receive the news very well so she used her compacted mirror that was offered to her. She sent him a message and immediately blocked his contact details before she gave him a chance to reply.
That was the last time she interacted with her ex. A relationship that was built from a lie.
Star told her parents the news about her ending her relationship with her boyfriend involving how he started to become easy to anger, and physically and verbally abusive to her. Her mother didn't think much about it other than telling her to become, 'Stronger'. Star's father on the other hand was there to comfort her.
She always loved her father. Caring, loving, and tries to keep her sane for the most part. All the love and care that Moon didn't give her, her father, River, instead delivers it. Star can't imagine a life where her father ha-
"Star, are you even listening to me?" Moon kicked Star out of her deep thoughts.
Looking up at her mother, Star replied as she bowed. "Yes! Apologies."
Moon gave a small 'Hm' before she continues. "Well, that was your first option. If we were to team up with the Lucitors, we would have to arrange a marriage."
Star whipped her head to face her mother as she should her shocked expression. The blonde girl's pupils shrunken at the thought of her and her ex ending up in a marriage together. After everything she's been through because of him, why would she end up with an abusive partner? That's not how it works, correct? She can't see her marrying him without him proving to her that he changed, becoming friends, and becoming a couple. But the most she wants to see is change.
Change? She doubts that her ex will change. People like him don't change. Seeing him change is like trying to imagine a new colour. It's impossible.
"W-What?!" was all Star can manage. She can't believe what she just heard. A marriage?!
"You heard me correct," Moon replied. "We thought that a marriage would help strengthen our relationship with the opposite kingdom. And if you think about it, you two are both royalties, aren't you? What's his name, Tom? Weren't Tom and you close if I remember?"
"B-But, mother! Didn't I explain in the past that he was abusive? I cannot see myself marrying someone who won't treat me right!" Star replied in fear.
"Star, how many times do I have to tell you?! The kingdom always comes first!"Moon replied now frustrated at her daughter's dense mind. "You can find a way to figure yourselves out later!"
"I know, Mother but, it'll be more than difficult to rule a kingdom with a person who will not contribute. Surely there are other kingdoms out there who are more than willing to team with us," Star asked beggingly. She's not looking forward to seeing Tom again.
"Are you saying that the Lucitor Kingdom is worthless?" Moon asks as she raises an eyebrow.
"No! I-"
"I'll have you know that the Lucitor Kingdom has done more than enough over the past couple of years. If it wasn't for them, our kingdom wouldn't be in the position it's in right now. The only way to thank them would be an arranged marriage."
The princess still can't see herself marrying some anger-issued demon who more or less cares about the well-being of others.
Looking back at the grey carpeted ground, Star then asks, "Okay... What's the second option?"
"You go back to St. Olag's. You have till tomorrow to give me your response."
'I've given you two choices... Which one will you take?'
Moon's voices echoed through Star's head as the princess sat down on of her window sills in her blue nightgown staring at the three moons as she thought of the two choices her mother gave her. She knew that she didn't want either of the two options, but didn't have a choice but to pick one and at the same time, she was until tomorrow to choose.
Stress and pressure started to build up inside her resulting in her being unable to sleep, so she resorted to sitting on her window sill. All the training, pressure, abuse she's been through... Wasn't a fourteen-year-old suppose to have fun? All the other kids she's seen in town have fun, so why can't she?
The view from her room relaxed her. The mountains and forest in the distance just amaze her so much. The beautiful stars in the sky and the three moons hanging in the sky for some reason... eases her mind. It just wishes her she could venture out and discover what the universe has to offer.
Or maybe... Maybe she can.
Something out there is calling her.
Or someone... But she can't tell what it was that was calling her out.
Star's thinking of something right now, an escape. Something that she thought she could do but doesn't dare to do it. But in the situation she's in at the moment, it looks like it's the only thing she can do. If it was to avoid going back to St. Olga's and seeing Tom again, then so be it.
Star started to plot a plan that could help her escape her 'imprisonment'. She needed to leave the palace, even Mewni entirely. If she were to stay, anyone could find her and return her to the castle, and she knew what it'll happen if her mother was to find out about this. She's not allowed to mess anything up with her plan otherwise, her life's going to be taken away from her or even worse, feel a lifetime of pain for hours on end.
As Star figure out her escape plan, several thoughts came into mind that'll help her with escaping her homeland.
The blonde remembered that it's impossible to traverse the universe without the use of a scissor. Specifically, Dimensional Scissors, the only tool that'll help her escape this imprisonment that she's been living in since birth. Star knew that she kept it inside her drawer in her bedroom. So she'll have to go to her mother's bedroom in order to escape, unfortunately.
After retrieving the dimensional scissor, Star will have to sneak back to her bedroom and create a portal to go to whatever dimension she thinks it's safe and stop her mother from finding her. But before she leaves, she'll need to bring a bag of essentials because to the place she's going... Star doesn't know where she's going to end up so it's probably a good idea to bring something just in case.
Okay, she's got a hopefully structured plan that has several gaps inside of it and no backup plan if anything goes wrong. It's her first time doing anything besides training so of course, there are going to be many flaws, but at least she's determined to do it. All she needs is something to push her.
As Star was about to stand up, she looked back at the night sky to ease her mind a little because what she was about to do is going to make her go outside her comfort zone a lot. Her plan was giving her lots of intrusive thoughts and her head was already filled with anxiety and stress. What if her mother caught her in the act? What kind of punishment will she receive? What if someone finds out she escaped and tries to bring her back to Mewni?
Star can't be thinking like that right now.
She has to leave.
And so, her escape begins now...
Star slowly opens her bedroom door, preventing any creaking sound her door normally makes. She pops her head out of her dark room and into the dimly lit hallway to check if anyone was walking around. Star knew guards are roaming around the castle at night to check if there are intruders.
Seeing that there is no one in view, Star then slowly placed her foot down onto the ground and moved her body outside. Gently closing the door behind her, she managed to progress to her next plan: Infiltrating her parent's bedroom. She needs to retrieve her mother's dimensional scissors.
'Hopefully, it won't be too challenging...'
As Star progressed through the dimly lit hallways, the princess made sure to check every corner she takes to see if there were any guards nearby. She was lucky enough to not encounter a lot. But if she were to see one, she'll have to hide in places where the candle's light can't reach.
Whenever the guards pass by, Star's heartbeat increases dramatically causing the girl to panic thinking that she'll be caught in the act.
Sneaking quietly through the red-carpeted floor, in the distance, Star recognises two massive doors telling her that her parent's bedroom isn't too far now and that her escape is coming closer to happening. The blonde girl could feel the adrenaline coursing through her as she thought of leaving her homeland.
Approaching her parent's door, Star pulled the door handle, and to her surprise, it was unlocked, and gently pushed the door to open. With anxiety building up inside the girl, Star slowly popped her head inside the bedroom to see if her parents were awake but were glad to see her mother deep asleep facing the opposite of where she was. Looking next to her, she saw that her father was absent which worried the teenage princess.
'Where could father be?'
But that didn't let her stop her. She still needed to progress with her plans. In the position she's at, why would she stop now? She's made more progress than her training in becoming a princess. She never felt proud of herself in a long time. It's a good feeling.
Taking in the advantage her mother is asleep and her father, for some reason absent, Star slowly sneaked into the dark bedroom and approach her mother's drawer. It was the one that was against the wall on the opposite side of the room with a frame of the family above it with everyone dressed in their formal attire with no smiles at all. But that didn't let her distract. It won't matter to her once she leaves. It meant nothing to her.
What mattered is her leaving.
Pulling the drawer slowly to make no noise, it was a little difficult to see in the dark, but she can see an outline of overly designed scissors on the right side of the drawer. But on the left side, she saw her mother's wand, the wand she was supposed to receive once she turned fourteen, but never received because she wasn't 'ready to take the responsibility of becoming a princess'.
Seeing that no one was going to stop her, she might as well take the wand as well as the book underneath it. It could be the spell book her mother was talking about a while back.
'I might need this just in case... You never what you'll encounter in those other dimensions...'
Grabbing all the essentials out of the drawer, Star decided it was a good time to leave before it was too late, which she hopes isn't. Gently closing the drawer, Star quietly sneaked back to the door and closed it before she left so it looked like no one entered in the first place. Now, she needed to go back to her room and prepare for her departure.
Immediately after arriving in her room, Star looked for the backpack that her father gave her when she was young. She barely used it for some reason, but still glad because it was one of the few gifts her parents gave her.
Finding it inside her closet, the princess threw it on her bed and looked for some clothes that it'll be essential for her escape. She threw the ones that she thinks will be comfortable for her travel and left the ones that'll be useless, especially the blue dress that she wore today. Bringing it will just remind her of her mother who she's trying to forget.
Neatly folding them, the princess then placed her travel clothes inside her backpack alongside the spell book that she stole. Star managed to change out of her blue nightgown and into a red jumper and jeans with white shoes that Tom gifted her 2 years ago before their break up. Luckily for her, it still fits and that's all that matters. Star had to hide the clothes from her parents because apparently, 'it's not what a princess should wear'.
Closing her closet, Star looked at herself in the mirror. She was all ready with her backpack on her with the scissors she stole along with her mother's wand and spell book inside her bag. She looked more than ready to leave. If she was, to be honest, Star's more than scared right now because she never thought she was able to escape her imprisonment. Her whole life, she thought she was a little teenage girl who'll just have to become a princess without a choice. But look at her now, her life is gonna change for the better.
Looking at the scissor in her hand, Star looked at herself again in her mirror stand to make sure she was going to remember this moment her whole life. The moment where she made a move in the right direction for her life.
Finally, all the pain, suffering, and abuse come to an end!
Suddenly, behind Star, her bedroom door made a creaking sound indicating that her door opened.
Star's heart skyrocketed past her ceiling knowing that she's been caught red-handed and that she was trying to escape. The princess knew it was too good to be true. Of course, nothing good happens in her life. Sweat and tears started to form in her eyes and body as every torture scenario plays inside her head. She doesn't think she'll be able to handle all the punishment that'll be given to her.
Star didn't even bother to turn around as she shook in fear as she waits for her mother's voice to be heard.
"So, you're going to leave without telling me goodbye?"
Star's eyes winded at that voice. It was her father!
Star turned around immediately to be met with her father standing in the doorway with a sad expression visible on his face. Still, in his pyjamas, the man crossed his arms that he wasn't here in her room for no reason.
Still shaking on the spot, Star says, "F-Father! I... I didn't expect you to arrive in my room at this kind of time. W-What bring you here?"
Stepping into her room, River replies, "I know this moment will come, but I didn't expect it to take this long. I'm proud."
"What do you mean?" River approach his daughter, but she didn't step back. "I don't understand."
"With all the things your mother did to you, I expected you to leave earlier, but you absorb all of the tantrums and continue to stay. I knew you were strong. You have that Johanson blood inside of you."
"T-Thank you... I really appreciate you saying that, father." Star didn't smile as she stood in the same place awkwardly. Fear still controlled her.
"So, this is it. Our last moment together." River says as he stood in front of his daughter. He never thought he'd see his daughter be taller than him, but it should've been expected since Moon is much taller than him.
"I... Guess..." Star managed to say out. "But, you won't tell mother, right? You understand, do you?"
"I more than understand, my sweetie-pie." River replied sadly. Seeing her daughter leave is going to take a lot out of him. "I think what you're doing is more than good. If I were in your position, I would've done it much earlier, but I think it's good that you stayed longer than you should have. Seeing you grow up into a young beautiful girl made me more than happy."
"I appreciate that, father..." Hearing a compliment from someone always brings butterflies into her stomach. She rarely hears compliments from anyone. "One more thing, I don't know any place where I can hide. Do you have any suggestions by any chance?"
"Well, I've been talking to Hekapoo behind your backs for a way to help you escape. We were supposed to create a dimensional scissor for you so that you can escape and move to another dimension. But it looks like you have stolen your mother's for yourself." River pointed to Moon's scissors resting her Star's right hand.
"O-Of course. Apologies." Star replied rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment.
"No need. I understand." River raised his hands telling her that he understood. "As I was saying, while we continued our planning, we tried to find a dimension where we thought you'll be able to rest and hide. A dimension where Moon will think it's too 'underdeveloped' for you to reside. So Hekapoo and I discovered a dimension where it appears 'underdeveloped' but in actuality, it's more than developed."
"What's its name?" Star asked eagerly.
"Earth. It's a perfect dimension where you'll be able to hide along with the rest of its people and practice your magic there. You'll blend in perfectly with the rest of the people there" River smiled.
"You knew that I stole mother's wand?" Star asked quite shocked. She made sure that she didn't leave a trace.
"Well, when I went back to our bedroom to check on your mother, I noticed that her drawer wasn't closed all the way. When I checked the drawer, I noticed that her wand, book, and scissors are missing." River replied. "I wasn't panicking because who else wanted her wand? I know you do."
Star looked away from her father shamefully. He knew that she'll never do it on purpose, but in the situation that she was in, she had no other choice. "Well, at least you understand why I need it."
The two royalties stood in front of each other awkwardly. The two barely have time for each other with how busy they are and at the same time, Moon always takes Star and brings her everywhere with her to train her for a future queen. With River, he rarely sees his daughter. Frustration slowly builds up as he just watches helplessly see his daughter's individuality break down into someone he doesn't recognise. Sometimes, he can't do anything when his wife's in the way.
He just hopes this 'Earth' will bring back the little happy girl that he always wanted.
"When you leave, please take care, my little angel..." River said softly as he cups his daughter's cheek gently. "You're my only daughter and if anything happens to you... I'll never forgive myself."
"Father..." Star says as she lays a hand on his shoulder. "I'll promise
"Thank you... You know, you can always call me dad..."
"You know that's informal. If mother hears me-"
"I know... But, you know? You can always say it when she's not around."
"I can't risk it." Star then looked at her scissors readying herself for her departure. She didn't want to continue with the subject. "I guess, this is our goodbye."
"Indeed, it is." River depressingly said. "I hope you live a good life on Earth. A much better one."
"I hope I do as well..." Star looked at her father one last time to remember him. "...Will visit sometimes?"
"I'll... See. No promises though." River replied hesitantly. He wished that she never brought up the question knowing that his response is going to hurt her.
A familiar sad expression appeared on Star's face. She hoped that he'll be certain that he'll be by her side, but it looks like he won't be seeing her much, possibly at all from the sound of it. Star was barely around her father and it looks like it was going to get worse.
Tears rolled down her face once again as she passed the scissors to her father who held them rather weakly. He wished that this moment didn't have to happen, but it was for the safety of his daughter. He'd rather let his daughter hide than see her with his wife.
Star never thought she'll see another portal in her life. The last time she saw one was when she was young and seeing one again still amazed her to this day.
"Good bye my beautiful star." River couldn't hold in his tears seeing his daughter for the very last time in maybe a while. "Take care..."
Turning to her father once again, Star replied in a raspy voice as she tries to hold in her tears, "I will, dad. Bye"
Taking the scissors from her father, Star looked at the bright blue portal in front of her. Breathing in a sigh, Star then slowly walked towards the bright portal where her body vanished in the existence of Mewni and entered a new life on Earth.
Unknown to her, a blue moon shined through the night sky...
"I'm telling you, Marco. You got to see this dead possum I hid in my locker."
"For the last time, Janna! I don't wanna see some dead animal! How many times do I have to tell you?!"
"Oh, you poor weak boy..."
"I'm not weak, Janna!"
Marco Diaz is a teenage Latino boy who wears his signature red hoodie and black pants with black shoes everywhere every day. He couldn't go a day without them both, especially his red hoodie. He's known for his expert grades at school and for being the 'Safe kid' because of the time he wore a helmet in the gym showers. But what a lot of people don't know is that Marco's also an expert in Karate with him being a red belt indicating that he's not to mess with.
Janna Ordonia, on the other hand, is Marco's childhood Filipina friend who was raised together. She had a dark navy green beenie with her shirt being the same colour and a cyan-coloured jacket over it. Accompanied by that, Janna has a yellow coloured skirt with brown boots. She's known for having a deep interest in witchcraft and macabre things which makes her a little weird to hang out with. Janna likes to bring up certain topics that people don't have an interest in or are just disturbing in general.
The two teenage students are walking down a quiet street during the afternoon after finishing a week of school. Janna specifically was more than happy about school being done with. That meant she's got more time to read about her witchcraft books.
"So, what are you going to do other than reading?" Janna asked looking at her friend. "You gotta come outside your more, dude."
"I don't honestly. I don't have much going on really." Marco replied thinking. "And by the way, I do go outside thank you very much."
"Eh, It'll be cool if something just happens, am I right?" Janna replied chuckling.
Out of nowhere, the two teenagers abruptly took a couple of steps back as a blue portal formed in thin air, catching them both off guard. Marco and Janna watched as the inside of the portal caught their attention, almost hypnotised. They've seen a portal before so seeing one in person for the first time would shock them.
"Wow..." Janna says out loud as she became mesmerised by the blue portal. "That's so cool...!"
"Yeah, you're right," Marco added. "But I think we should move back more before anything happens."
"But, what if someone comes out of the portal?" Janna asks.
"That's why we should leave!" Marco exclaimed as he grabs Janna's arms. Pulling her back, Marco then says, "C'mon! We don't even know who will come out!"
Just as Janna was about to pull back her arm, a girl with blonde hair came out of the portal surprising the teenagers more. They were least expecting a human to come out of something from something inhuman. Was it already possible for people to create portals? How were they not told about this already?
Coming back from his shock, Marco relaxed before asking the girl, "U-Umm... Hello?"
The girl ignored Marco as she looked around her surroundings as if she was never been on Earth before. Of course, the girl would do that, duh! She came out from a freakin' portal! But she looks so human. It doesn't make sense.
Suddenly, the girl said something barely audible. "So... This is Earth..."
"Earth?" Marco replied, "Are you saying you've never been here before?"
"Are you stupid or something?!" Janna replied smacking the back of Marco's head and making him growl in frustration. "Can't you see she made a portal? Us humans can't do that!"
Turning her head to the two teens, the girl raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Humans? Is that what you people are called?"
Marco looked a little weird out by the question. "Uh, yes. We're humans."
"So where are you from?" Janna asked.
"I'm from Mewni. I'm a Mewman." The girl replied rather hesitantly as she looks away from the people in front of her.
"Mewni?" Marco asked more confused. "Mewman?"
"It's... Where I'm from and what I am."
"That rather close to human. I sure you're not making this up?" Janna added as she raises suspicion at the girl.
"Can a girl who makes portals lie, Janna?" Marco says defending the girl.
"I can't argue with that, 'Safe kid'," Janna replied smirking at her friend.
"So, you're name is Janna." The girl added looking at Janna. "That's rather a nice name."
"Thanks!" Janna smiled at the compliment. "My last name is Ordonia by the way if you want to know."
"And what's yours?" The girl then turned to the boy with the red hoodie.
"I'm Marco Diaz. Nice to meet you." Marco then reached his hand out for a handshake.
The girl looked down at his hands rather hesitantly which was very visible to the two teenagers as they looked at each other confused.
"It's a 'handshake' by th-"
"I know."
Suddenly, the girl then took his hand rather forcefully and shook it. Looking at him, the blonde girl then said, "My... My name is Star Butterfly."
