Hi, and welcome. My name is Michaela and writing is my passion hence why I am here. This is the first story I have written in years and I'm very excited.
I have the whole story planned out. Each chapter has already been planned until the finale. I will be going through the plot line of the the books (kind of). It follows the plot but is focused on my OC and Jasper so something's won't be seen in the chapter just talked about.
I have tried making it very realistic to life if a person really did go through this so if you think I'm going off track from realism please let me know. Also let me know if you think Jasper is out of character.
There are 60 chapters to get through so if you stick with me thank you very much.
Now, on with the story :)
Chapter 1
Staring at the small house that was situated in front of the bleak backdrop, Lily sighed heavily as the weight of what she had chosen to do washed over her in tandem with the rain. It had taken some time but she had finally done it. She was free. As that thought entered her mind, Lily felt a small smile tug at her lips.
Turning, the brunette bent down and started lugging her things inside as quickly as she could. She had the hassle of unpacking and decorating, she didn't need the hassel of all her things being soaking wet too. It took some time but the young woman had finally managed to drag all her possessions inside, not that she had all that much.
Fatigued and weak, Lily couldn't find it in her to do much unpacking. It was late and her body seemed to be shutting down. Thankfully she had managed to get the bigger pieces of furniture sent on ahead so she had a couch to sleep on as the bed hadn't been set up. Finding her duvet and pillows she weakly headed to her couch, flopping down like a ragdoll and simply tossed the thick duvet over herself.
Sleep came quickly, the soft pattering of the rain hitting the window lulled her into a peaceful sleep. When she awoke, Lily found the blanket had crumpled to the floor in a heap leaving her legs exposed and she found herself shivering. Groaning, she sat up.
Brushing her knotty hair out of her eyes, rubbing the sleep away she looked around the empty room. Whilst she knew she had made the right decision, seeing the bare living room sent a pang directly into her heart. Whilst she had been alone back in England, she had people she knew there. Here, she knew and had no one. She was truly alone.
Lily pushed that depressing thought completely out of her mind and for the next three days spent her time unpacking and applying for jobs. By Saturday she had an interview for a simple waitressing job but at least it was a job and she had money coming in.
The woman at the diner was an older woman in her 50's. She had mousey brown hair, hazel eyes, wrinkles that gave away how much the woman smiled and was a short 5'2. Thankfully the woman was a warm person and very friendly because talking to strangers was not Lily's strong point.
Lily would end up overthinking if there was a pause in conversation with someone she didn't know, so because this woman (Maria) was a talker it helped keep Lily slightly more at ease. In fact Lily found herself smiling for the first time in a while due to the positive energy Maria gave off, especially when comforting her that her not having any experience in waitressing didn't matter. They would train her, Maria told her as though she already had the job, and by the end of their talk she did.
It would actually be Lily's first job, despite being twenty-two, and she found herself rather excited. Nervous, but excited.
The next day was Sunday and Lily felt she had deserved a day of rest. She had done more in this last week than she had in her life, as sad as that was to say. So, she decided to explore her new home. Forks was beautiful in a simplistic sort of way. She quite liked the trees lining the back of her house, and the rest of the town, though she had lost her love of nature in last few years.
There wasn't much to do in the town and the beach down in La Push wasn't much but it did have a serene quality to it. Somewhere Lily could easily find herself when there was too much going on inside her head and needed to relax.
Two more days passed, Lily had had her first experience at work. It didn't go smoothly but she had found she had worked herself up for nothing. She had been so scared of all the things that could go wrong she had very nearly not turned up, but had forced herself, and whilst it hadn't been smooth sailing it hadn't been awful and she felt slightly good about herself for doing something for the first time in her life.
So, Lily found herself after her second shift in the supermarket to buy food. Her hunger wasn't there at the moment so Lily wasn't particularly wanting to buy any. She wanted to go home and sleep.
"You should get that." A voice said to her left. Flinching, Lily's head snapped to the voice in her ear and saw a very beautiful woman standing beside her with a smile on her face. She had pale skin that contrasted rather well with her darker hair. Pink plump lips smiled at her as her gold eyes sparkled. Lily found herself in a staring match. Did gold eyes actually exist? "I've heard it taste wonderful. Very creamy."
Lily blushed, eyes falling to her feet for a moment before looking up. The stranger clearly thought she had been contemplating which cheese to buy, when in reality she had been debating just going home or not. "Right. Thanks."
"Esme Cullen." The woman greeted herself. Even her voice was beautiful, Lily noted. Soft and comforting.
"Lily Shepherd."
"It's nice to meet you, Lily." Esme responded as though she meant it. Lily frowned. "I take it you're new."
"Yes..."
"Oh, it's a small town. Everybody recognises everyone around here so if someone new comes to town..." Esme told her apologetically. Lily just grimaced. Great, she was going to stand out for a bit much to her chagrin.
"Right. That's not scary or anything." Lily could hear the strain in her voice as she spoke to the lovely Esme. She wasn't used to talking to strangers, she didn't think she knew how to have a smooth conversation with a new person anymore. Esme didn't seem to mind however as she smiled, laughed and agreed.
"Well, if you need anyone to talk to. Or spend time with here is my number. My kids are always at school and my husband has a demanding job. It would be nice to have another woman to talk to every once in a while." Esme told her, handing her a piece of paper with her number on. Lily felt a more sincere smile on her face. She internally thanked the woman for her wording. Whilst she knew it was probably charity she thanked the woman for how she said it. Lily didn't know anybody that nice to simply want to welcome a new person into town.
Lily never planned on calling Esme, she didn't want to. It was easier being alone, or so she told herself but the loneliness kept clawing at her until she felt physical pain.
And that was how Lily found herself in the Cullen household, the beautiful expensive Cullen household, baking cupcakes with the lovely Esme. The woman apparently loved to bake - anything.
Lily had felt at peace for the first time in a long time, that was until two people entered the room and she felt her mood decling rapidly. In front of her stood a boy and a girl. Well, she said boy and girl. They were teenagers.
"Ah, Jasper, Alice!" Esme exclaimed happily. "Lily, meet two of my children Jasper and Alice. Alice, Jasper this is Lily. She's new to town."
"Hi!" Alice chirped. She had a very perky attitude that seemed full of life for such a small woman. Maybe that was why she was so bouncy, Lily wondered, she was so small all that positivity was trying to burst out like when you pack a suitcase with too many clothes and you can't properly shut it. Jasper on the other hand looked like he had a terrible headache.
"Nice to meet you." Lily mumbled shyly. She felt pale in comparison to Alice and her bubbly nature, like her shyness was now more apparent and on display with this pixie looking woman in the room with her. Jasper didn't say much but Lily felt his eyes on her at all times, and not in a weird way but like he was studying her. Like she was a puzzle he couldn't quite work out. Yet when she looked at him he would grimace like someone had just punched him.
Alice and Esme acted like this was his usual behaviour and never commented on it. Maybe he was ill, Lily thought as she made her way back home and crawled into her now built bed. Yet, the way he was studying her stayed in her mind as she drifted off to sleep.
Hello again, would just like to say future chapters should be longer and a bit better. This was just the first chapter and setting things up so I apologise if it seemed a bit slow.
Please fav, follow or review if you would like. If not just reading it is fine and makes me happy so no worries lol Hope to see you again for Chapter 2!
Stay Beautiful :) x
