Title: Hurricane

Time-line: Pre Chapter 14 of the Mandalorian

Summary: Boba and Fennec land on Trask to refuel and restock their supplies, but end up having to wait out a hurricane before they can leave.

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars.

Trask was a somewhat dismal planet, dark clouds, darker oceans, and shady ports. Not the worst place that Fennec or Boba had ever been to, but not the nicest place either. "Hey, be careful near my ship!" Boba shouted at one of the droids when it accidentally dropped a crate of maintenance supplies on the fuel hose. Fennec allowed herself a small chuckle as she walked down the boarding ramp, "Maybe you should stay here and supervise while I go get the supplies." she said, raising her voice a little so that Boba would be able to hear her over the gale force winds that were blowing. "Perhaps your right," he said as he walked over, "Don't take to long, I don't like the look of those clouds." She followed his gaze up to the darker clouds that seemed to be getting closer, then nodded taking the pouch of credits he handed her, "I'll be quick." she said. Boba watched her hurry away and muttered, "I have a bad feeling about this."

After a quick walk through port, Fennec managed to find a general store that looked like it would have everything they needed. She walked inside and started gathering supplies. Though she was grateful to be out of the wind, she still didn't want to take too long. The store was mostly empty, save for a Mon Calamari woman and her child, and a male Quarren that Fennec assumed was the shopkeeper. The child started to make a fuss, but it's mother quickly hushed it, "That's enough, we must get home before the hurricane makes landfall." The woman then paid the shopkeeper and she and her child left. Hurricane? Well, that explained the constantly strengthening winds and dark clouds. Fennec hurried to gather the rest of the supplies, then waited impatiently as the shopkeeper put all the items she had gotten into a burlap sack. The moment he finished Fennec dropped the sufficient amount of credits onto the counter and headed for the door, "Your going to go out there? In this weather?" the Quarren asked in disbelief, "I have somewhere I need to be." she said barely sparing him a glance. He came around and caught her wrist, "Why don't you wait out the storm here with me." Fennec narrowed her eyes at him, "Please let go of me." When he didn't, she twisted her wrist free, then twisted his back. He cried out in pain but she was already out the door.

The sky had darkened and the wind had picked up quite a bit in the time that it took for Fennec to get the supplies. Which really hadn't been that long. She walked back to the ship quickly, then broke into a run when she heard the first low rumble of thunder. She didn't see Boba or the droids on the landing platform, so she assumed Boba was in the ship waiting for her and that the droids were off doing whatever else it was that they did. She was just a few steps to the boarding ramp when the rain that had been threatening to pour down finally did. She managed to get inside only partially drenched and somewhat out of breath from running all the way there. She made her way to the cargo area, where Boba was waiting for her. "Here," she said, "Supplies and what's left of the credits." She tossed the satchel of credits to him and started stowing the supplies. Boba sighed then said, "We're going to have to wait out the storm." "Hurricane," Fennec corrected, "It's a hurricane, I heard some locals talking about it." "I guess we'll be here for awhile." Fennec simply nodded. Boba walked over, "Go change into to something dry, I'll put the rest of the supplies away." he said, taking the bag from her. She was about to protest then she shivered and realized how cold she was in her damp clothes, "I'll go change into something dry." Fennec went to the ships small sleeping quarters and changed into the only other clothes she owned, a pair of black leggings and a black tunic. She still wore her boots, but the rest of her normal clothes were wet. Dressed in dry clothes, Fennec returned to the cargo area. She and Boba spent the rest of the day cleaning their weapons, reading on their datapads, and engaging in idle small talk before they ate some ration bars and went to bed. Neither one of them knew how long the hurricane would last, but it was definitely going to be awhile.

Fennec had no idea what time it was when she woke up, she wasn't really certain when she had gone to sleep either, but she figured it was still early. She got out of bed, her eyes scanned the dimly lit room and she was little surprised to see that Boba wasn't there. She made her way out of the sleeping quarters and into the cargo area where, as she had suspected, she found Boba. He was sitting, staring out the window at the rain. "Did I wake you?" he asked as she sat down next to him, "No." A comfortable silence fell between them, then Boba spoke, "I grew up surrounded by water," he said, "On a planet where it was almost always raining." Fennec listened intently as Boba told her about his home planet, Kamino. He told her about Tipoca City, the Kaminoans, his father, and some of the adventures he went on as a child. She never interrupted, though she giggled a little when he told her about some of his adventures in Tipoca City and all the trouble he got into. She was silent again, when he told her about Geonosis, his attempt to get revenge on the Jedi, and the time he spent in prison. Fennec hadn't really been sure what to say about all that, so she had just put a hand on his shoulder. Sensing that Boba needed a moment, she then got up to grab some ration bars.

The rest of morning and most of the afternoon into the evening were spent in comfortable silence. The only sounds were the driving rain and strong winds. This time she sat staring at the rain outside, and it was Boba who sat down next to her, "We had rain and storms on my planet," she said, "But nothing like this. There was lots of sun, but it never got too warm in the summer. It did get pretty cold in the winter, and it would snow." This time it was Boba who listened intently, as she told him of her earliest memories of living in a girls school out in the country, running away at the age of eight, and living on the streets of the capital city for the next five years. "Why did you leave your home planet?" Boba asked, "The Separatists invaded it before the war started actually, and because my planet wasn't part of the Republic, news of the invasion never really got out." "You have no memories of your parents?" Boba regretted asking as soon as the words left his mouth. While her expression betrayed no emotion, Boba didn't miss the way Fennec lowered eyes or how she wrapped her arms around herself somewhat defensively, "No." It was a simple answer and her voice betrayed no emotion. Still, it made Boba realize how lucky he was. At least he had known his father, and known that his father loved him. Fennec didn't know anything about her parents. "I'm sorry." he said, as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "It's fine." she stated, almost casually, but allowed herself to relax into the embrace. They remained like that for quite some time, both ultimately falling asleep.

Fennec woke the next morning feeling stiff and sore, that happened when you fell asleep sitting up. She stretched out, then froze, it was quiet. Not entirely quiet, it was still drizzling rain, but the wind had died down and the sky wasn't quite as dark. "Boba," she said, reaching over blindly to shake him awake, "Boba, wake up!" He grumbled, "What? What's going on?" he asked, "It's still raining a little, but there's barely any wind," she said, then turned to look at him, "I think the storm is over."

They decided to leave as soon as possible, though they agreed it would be wise to stock up on the supplies they'd used during the storm. This time they both went to the general store. When they walked through the door, a bell rang, "I'll be out in a minute." A voice called from somewhere in the back. Boba and Fennec gathered the supplies, it didn't take very long, then stepped up to the counter. At that moment, the Quarren shopkeeper came over, "You!" he said stopping and pointing at Fennec, "You broke my wrist!" he exclaimed. Boba turned to look at her, but her focus was on the shopkeeper, "Only because you wouldn't let go of mine." she stated. Boba turned his attention to glaring at the Quarren, before throwing him the small satchel of credits and taking the sack of supplies, "Fennec," he said, putting a hand on her shoulder, gently pushing her towards the door, "It's time for us to leave this wretched planet."

A/N: This one was long, and I took some creative liberty with Fennec's backstory. I got this idea, Boba and Fennec tracked Mando all the way from Tatooine, so why didn't they confront him on Nevarro or Corvus? I figured they got held up by something, so I spent most of yesterday writing this. I did the little thing with them talking about their pasts because, in BOBF, Boba says that he grew up surrounded by water and Fennec nods like she's heard the story. Anyway, this is really just going to be a collection of one shots, basically whatever pops into my head. I'd be happy to see requests or suggestions in the reviews, just please keep in mind that I want to keep this story in the K/K plus rating, and I DO NOT write romance unless it's harmless fluff/hurt/comfort. Normally, I wouldn't be open to writing a non-canon pairing, but I like Boba and Fennec together. Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed.
