The redhead felt a smile grow on her face as she watched the two little babies sleep peacefully, she leaned forward letting her finger run along the girl's cheek melting as she tried to grab Ruby's finger. Carefully removing her finger from the one month old's grip she looked over to the boy doing the same thing, watching as made a small sound leaning slightly into the touch of her finger.
She could watch these two sleep all day… that's if her wife let her however. At that thought her eyes went to the ring on her left hand, the smile on her face growing. She felt a warm fuzzy feeling spread through her chest before she felt arms wrap around her waist.
"Found you." She heard Blake whisper before she felt the woman kiss on the mark on her shoulder making her shiver. Ruby let out a sigh leaning back into Blake letting her free hand rest on hers. "You found me."
Blake hummed resting her chin on the redhead's shoulder looking at the two babies. "You're hovering again dear. We should pack for the trip tomorrow." She whispered, getting a small huff from Ruby. "I know I know… just motherly instinct."
"If anything happens or they make a sound we have baby monitors, plus trust me I can hear them even before those things can." Blake said wiggling her ears on Ruby's neck feeling the woman control her laughter at the ticklish feeling.
Blake knew what Ruby was going through whenever she left the children alone, she could feel the panic the woman had even if she tried to hide it. She too felt the same worry as well. Her eyes went to the small ears on top of the little girl's head then over to the tail on the boy.
She gave a small hum leaving another small kiss on her wife's neck. "Come on, let's start packing, or we will never leave on time tomorrow."
The hesitation radiated off the woman before she felt her wife tug her away from the sleeping children. The woman felt the redhead tangle her hand in hers as they walked a short distance down the hall to their room.
Neither said anything as they got to work on collecting clothing and items they needed for the trip to Patch. Tomorrow they were meeting with the gang since they couldn't go to the Christmas party or New Years. Mainly due to the fact Ruby was pregnant and traveling was a bit hard on the woman at that time. They promised to make it up to everyone and eventually found a date they could go.
Blake smiled, closing the toiletries bag in her hand, tossing it into a bigger bag. They would be staying a few days in Patch to spend time with everyone, announcing their marriage and the birth of their children as well. She quickly grabbed onto the bag heading out of the bathroom. "Alright, bathroom items are done and packed. I'm going to move onto packing up stuff for the little ones." Blake said as she set down the bag next to the door raising an eyebrow when she received no answer from her wife.
She looked over at the redhead noticing that her eyes were closed and her breathing was steady, indicating that she was indeed asleep. The smile grew on her face as she quietly walked up to the bed. The redhead was up against the headboard, a shirt in hand on her lap as her head leaned over slightly.
Blake knew it wasn't long until Ruby eventually fell asleep, in the past month since their children came into this world Ruby had taken on a lot in that time. Of course Blake assisted wherever and whenever she could, but there was only so much she could do. It hurt her at times to see her wife struggle, her body still healing from the birth.
A little bit before Ruby gave birth to the two little ones she had a talk with her mother about postpartum. How some women it would last weeks and sometimes it would last months, they couldn't exactly predict what Ruby would go through but she warned her of the signs and symptoms along with how she could help her wife in her own way.
In the last month since Ruby gave birth she did slowly see those signs, small moments the redhead would cry at random moments or she would find her wife in the rocking chair near the babies watching them sleep even sometimes sleeping there herself. At times like those when she was with her wife listening to her she couldn't help but not feel guilty for what the redhead was experiencing. Whenever those thoughts came to mind Ruby would reassure the woman that she was okay with a smile on her face, still trying to be the strong leader. She smiled running her hand over her neck feeling the bumps of her own mark making her sigh.
Making little movement she slowly grabbed the clothing item out of Ruby's hand keeping her eyes on the redhead's face hoping that she wouldn't wake suddenly. Successful with her task she folded the shirt putting it into the bag before setting the bag down at the foot of the bed, a task she could complete in a little. She went back to her wife letting her arm wrap under the woman's legs and upper body, she felt the redhead wrap her arms instinctively around her shoulders making her smile.
Thankfully they didn't keep the bedsheets fully tucked in making it easier for her to pull them out so she could tuck the woman in. She leaned down leaving a light kiss to Ruby's head watching a small smile tug at the woman's lips as she did.
Her ears twitched looking towards the door of their bedroom, true to her statement to her wife earlier with her heightened hearing she could pick up on the fussy baby even before the monitor could. She quickly reached over to the device, shutting it off as she walked out of the room hoping that she could make it to the baby's bedroom before they got too loud. She was hoping to keep her wife asleep for as long as she could.
Once she made it to their room she closed the door behind her as her ears twitched again as the fussy baby started to whimper. She frowned walking over to the boy's crib, leaning over the bar she ran her finger along his cheek watching as his eyes slowly opened at the touch. She watched as he grabbed at her hand before bringing the finger over to his mouth making her smile.
"So you're hungry." She whispered looking at the little girl, noticing that she was not too bothered by her brother being fussy. From what she learned while watching them, the boy was a little more fussy than his sister, hungry more often and it was harder for him to stay asleep when he was. The girl however was quiet, rarely crying. Kali told her daughter it was okay, as long as the baby was content they were fine. She even told Blake that her daughter was a lot like her as well, Blake barely cried as a baby even if she got a bumb from an injury.
She smiled at the little boy picking him up carefully cooing at him to soothe him a little. When she watched Ruby soothe him she made it look easy, she was honestly a natural at being a mother. Ruby insisted that over time she would get used to it and just needed time.
Blake made it downstairs, switching on the kitchen light to a lower setting as she made quick work to heat a bottle up with the baby in her arms. It wasn't long until she felt the bottle was a good heat making sure to double check and triple check the temperature was right. She quickly got into a comfortable spot on the couch trying not to keep him waiting too long on the food, she smiled as she tapped the little nub against his nose before bringing it to his mouth. She watched as his eyes slowly opened staring up at her.
Golden eyes.
"How's that Gabe? Better I hope?" She whispered, staring into his eyes.
"Hey Blake?"
Blake hummed looking up from the folder over at her wife who was staring down at her stomach.
"We haven't really discussed names at all, now that we know we will be having two… I think we should at least start to think of what we're going to call these two little bundles."
The woman gave the redhead a smile and a nod as she set whatever she was working on off to the side. "I mean I've never been good at giving anything a name." Blake mused, resting her hand on her wife's stomach, smiling as she felt small movements.
"Well we know it's a boy and a girl." Ruby hummed leaning against the headboard as she rested her hand on Blake's. "I've always wanted to name a girl Liliana."
"Liliana? I think that's an adorable name. Does it have any significance or do you like the way it sounds?"
The redhead smiled, weaving her fingers through Blake's. "It was actually my grandmother's name, I didn't know her name until I was 10 and after that I thought it was beautiful."
Blake smiled rubbing her thumb along Ruby's hand. "Well I guess that leaves the boy then," She paused, humming, thinking for a few moments."How about Gabriel? After my grandfather. Liliana and Gabriel."
"I think those are wonderful names."
Blake smiled at the memory before putting the bottle on the coffee table in front of her. "You're one hungry little guy." She whispered as she adjusted the baby making sure to use one hand on the back of his head supporting him as she used the other rubbing his back.
It wasn't long until she heard a small burp come from the boy making her laugh a little. "Good now we can change your diaper and check on your sister." She said, picking up the empty baby bottle and putting it in the kitchen sink as she quietly made her way back up the stairs.
When she entered the room she was not really surprised to see her wife in the rocking chair, however a little annoyed at herself for missing something. "Was she crying?" She whispered bringing Gabe over to the changing table.
"No she wasn't, it's just my internal clock to feed them. Were you feeding Gabe?"
Blake nodded as she got to work on changing the boy's diaper out. "I used one of the bottles you prepped, I didn't want to wake you up, she was next in line." She said, giving her wife a smile while keeping her eyes on the baby in front of her.
To say she didn't want to look at her wife was an understatement. It was something she tried not to think about or even stare at her wife, she didn't want to make the redhead uncomfortable. However whenever it was just the two in their home, oftentimes Ruby wouldn't cover the top half of her body when she breastfed the babies. She tried not to be a perv about it whenever she did notice. She felt a heat spread across her cheeks as she finished putting Gabe in his swaddle before bringing him back over to his crib, by this time the boy was already asleep.
She leaned down running her finger along his cheek before hearing her wife yawn as she rocked in the chair hoping to get a burp from Liliana. It took the redhead a little more time to get a burp out of the little girl, once she did however a sigh left her lips. "There you go Li, that was a good one."
Blake smiled at her wife walking over holding her hands out. "I can change her if you want to go pump and everything."
The redhead gave a tired laugh noticing the red tint on her wife's cheeks as she handed the little girl over. "It's okay, I have to wait at least a little before I do. But I appreciate the help." She said quickly putting her nightshirt back on, she watched her wife change Liliana before putting her back in a swaddle as well.
Once the two were satisfied with everything they slowly made their way back to the room Blake went back to packing up the remainder of their clothes while Ruby sat against the headboard to pump. She gave a tired sigh as she closed her eyes listening to the small hum the machine gave.
"You okay?" Blake asked as she zipped up their bag bringing over to the bathroom bag she had set by the door earlier.
"Just tired, it's catching up to me." She whispered, adjusting the pump.
Blake frowned as she sat in front of Ruby letting her hand rest on the woman's leg. "We can always plan this trip another time, if it's too much." She said, running her thumb along the woman's skin.
The redhead shook her head as she turned off the pump, another sigh escaping her lips. "I don't want to wait too long, I know we could've easily told everyone over the phone everything but… telling them in person and letting them hold them just feels right." She whispered watching as Blake took the pump from her, setting it on the nightstand next to them. The woman sat on the edge of the bed pulling her wife into a hug before leaving a kiss on her forehead.
"You do what you feel is right Ruby, I'll be here every step of the way, okay?"
Ruby smiled resting her hand on Blake's cheek.
"What did I do to deserve such an amazing wife." Ruby whispered, feeling her heart skip a beat at the purr her wife gave at the feeling.
"Everything." Blake said, leaning forward their lips meeting for a quick kiss. "Now, how about we get some sleep for tomorrow? I'll put the pump away and do a double check to make sure we have our items all set. The woman said, handing her wife back her shirt with a smirk on her face.
The redhead rolled her eyes accepting the shirt. "Fine, but you better come back to cuddle. I want to get some before I have to wake up again and feed the little ones."
Blake nodded leaning forward leaving a kiss on Ruby's forehead. "Alright, I promise I won't take long." She said, grabbing the baby monitor flipping it on before she grabbed the pumping equipment Ruby used.
I can't help but write more for these two, they are just so adorable. I will forever go down with this ship, I plan on writing these two more as I continue to focus on Bloody Roses. Now that I have a tablet at work I plan on writing more and posting more cute little stories for them.
