War was waging across the Tokyo settlement between the local forces of the area 11 of the holy Britannian empire and the combined assault of the rebel forces led by the black knights.

While the fighting was most intense around the government bureau, Ashford academy was the exact opposite. For some reason, Zero had ordered his forces to make it their command center and Britannian forces had no reason to fight for it.

It was relatively peaceful, or it would have been if not for a certain red head named Tamaki repeatedly waving his big black gun around in students faces. Suddenly the ground split open startling everyone, as nobody except the Ashford family and Lelouch even knew there was an opening there, at least until the recent school festival.

From underground emerged the third generation knightmare frame called Ganymede which was the personal knightmare of the legendary Marianne the flash. Naturally the one piloting it was not her but a small girl with black hair in pigtails named Nina Einstein. She was sweating buckets in the cockpit while her shadowed eyes were completely deranged.

First to notice it thanks to the energy reaction was Cecile, followed by Rakshata wondering what an antique was doing in this modern battlefield. The only ones to panic in sync were surprisingly the engaged couple. Milly screamed Nina's name while Loyd felt all his pleasant anticipation that he had felt from watching her work turn into a nightmare.

He immediately screamed ceasefire at both Britannians and the black knights before taking a deep breath to calm himself down and talked gently as if to not provoke the wild animal.

"Nina, did you complete it?"

"There wasn't enough time to test it. I don't know if it will explode. But still I ..."

"Nina, what do you mean 'explode?!'"

Milly asked at Nina's lifeless answer while trying to run towards her but was stopped by Cecile. Loyd was the one who answered in a grim voice uncharacteristic of him.

"If her theory is correct, that thing may destroy the entire Tokyo settlement."

Tamaki tried to say it was impossible, being half rational for once but was vetoed by Rakshata.

Nina started speaking in a slow but steadily rising hysterical voice.

"Zero... Where is Zero? Tell me. Princess Euphemia will be avenged! WHERE IS ZERO?!"

And then she pressed the button before anyone could stop her. As the settlement was engulfed by light, she did not know that Zero had left already followed by three pursuers. She had a happy smile at having killed Zero as well as that she may get to be with the Princess in the afterlife.

This bomb was a prototype and naturally did not have a limiter on it. It meant that there was no vacuum bomb like suction force and that there was secondary shock wave with a ten times larger range than the primary blast.

The light started with Nina and engulfed her friends first in the ever expanding sphere. The Avalon had its radiant energy shield deployed but it didn't mean anything to this light. Allies, enemies and neutrals alike were all swallowed by the light all the way to the government bureau.

Once the light stopped and disappeared, the shock wave started from there and radiated out crushing everything and creating a barren plain different from the crater of the primary blast zone. Even outside this secondary range, there was an EMP effect that fried all active electronics.

Lelouch was far out above the sea, heading to Kamine Island with C.C in his double-seated knightmare Gawain. Following several miles behind him, outside of even the visibility range of the horizon was the orange boy Jeremiah Gottwald in his powerful abomination of a knightmare which could only be called the knight-giga-fortress. Again far behind him was Suzaku Kururugi, not actually following them but heading directly to Kamine Island in his flight enabled Lancelot. Behind him was the black knight's ace Karen Kouzuki or Kallen Stadtfeld in her Gurren Mark II, carried by an unmanned transport plane captured from Britannia, chasing after the signal from the transmitter that Rakshata planted on the Lancelot.

The shock wave first hit Kallen's back and she wasn't far enough out when the explosion happened, in fact she was still over the land rather than the sea. At that distance, while the shock wave wasn't powerful enough to crush Gurren, it messed with the aerodynamics of the plane, knocking her to the ground, her life or death unknown.

Next it hit Suzaku, frying all the electronics in the Lancelot, including the navigation function and video communication. After a bit, the system rebooted, hence restoring the purely electrical and mechanical functions like movement and audio communications. Even so, he no longer had a way to easily reach Kamine Island.

While the blast at his back concerned him, there was nothing he could do about it. In fact Zero's abrupt exit proved that he was the one responsible for it and that he sacrificed his own soldiers along with the enemy when he couldn't win. Killing him and avenging Euphy was the priority. He started looking at the direction of the sun and guessed the approximate direction to the Island before he started moving there.

Jeremiah Gottwald's so called knightmare as well as his entire body was now electronic and running on Sakuradite. It all shut down instantly as he fell into the water and sunk to the bottom, his fate unknown only due to the airtight sturdiness of his spherical tomb.

When the electronics of Gawain shutdown, Lelouch panicked but quickly controlled himself. He did not know what happened in Tokyo but rescuing Nunnaly was the priority. A part of his was even glad that she wasn't in the city when it happened, whatever it was. He would be sure to personally thank the kidnapper for that, before putting bullets in his head.

His navigation had also failed but he wasn't nearly as helpless. He remembered the navigation data until now with his sharp memory and was able to mentally calculate and adjust his new trajectory like child's play. It wasn't a straight line as he had to take winds above the sea and such into consideration for the optimal path like regular flights. C.C piloted as per his instructions without any complaints or comments which was rare for her.

Inside the thought elevator of Kamine Island, was V.V bored out of his mind with Nunnaly in a wheel chair. One would think that an immortal would have more patience than that, but he wasn't as old as C.C and had spent most of his life working on 'The Sword of Akasha'. He was wondering how long it would take for Lelouch to get here as surely C.C had told him by now that his reason for living had disappeared from the mortal world.

He still did not know how he felt about his nephew or what he would do with him. His personality and actions were all like Charles which he loved, but his appearance aside from his eyes was entirely like Marianne which he hated. If he truly wanted to kill Lelouch, it would have been just as easy as kidnapping Nunnaly. Though probably not given that C.C would sense him and interfere. He didn't even tell the Kururugi brat of Zero's true identity. It was fun, watching them struggle like that.

He looked at Nunnaly instead and found it hard to hate her. Her appearance was entirely like Charles with almost nothing of Marianne in her, while her personalty wasn't like either of her parents. Unfortunately an overly sheltered princess could only be a hostage or a puppet.

Suddenly he held his head and screamed as he felt pain like never before, which was saying something given all the times he had been shot or stabbed during the emblem of blood. Staying inside thought elevator had been a mistake as he felt a radical shift in the collective unconscious. Suddenly out of the seven billion people on the planet, several tens of millions had changed their state from living to dead. There were even more of them in unbearable pain, hovering between life and death.

Nunnaly Vi Britannia nearly jumped out of her chair as the child who had taken her began screaming. Her ears had become specially sensitive given her blindness so it was a great stimulus to her. She did not know whether to call him a kidnapper given how gentle he had been, more so when compared to that Chinese weirdo who was clapping all the time.

She wanted to go and help this person with the voice of a child, regardless of his intent but her wheel chair felt stuck. Of course the child had likely arranged it so that she wouldn't accidentally roll down the stairs. If only she could see and walk, she could help him. Once she wished it strongly enough, her eyes opened and she was standing on her own two feet.

She did not understand what had happened. The system called thought elevator interfered with and was interfered with by the thoughts. While physical state did affect it, it mainly depended on thoughts and will of the person. She walked to the child with ridiculously long hair and tried to help. As soon as she touched him, thoughts flowed through her like a stream.

She sensed the pain of tens of millions of dead and dying people. She sensed the life story of her uncle, for that was what this child was. From 'Emblem of Blood' to 'Ragnark Connection' to her mothers murder. Also Lelouch being Zero and killing Euphy and Clovis. She no longer knew what to feel or do.

Still she wouldn't abandon any person, specially family no matter their crimes. She picked him up in princess carry and took him to the entrance. As soon as she exited the door into the ruins, her legs stopped working and she collapsed. But she could still see as her eyes weren't physically damaged like her legs.

Schneizel could not believe what he was looking at. His face bloomed into the most angelic smile ever, with the only witness being Kanon.

It wasn't like he enjoyed human suffering. He was a sociopath, not a psychopath. Only today, he had been horrified by the massacre by Euphy and her subordinates but this was completely different. There was no source or target of hate in this light. This was like a light of heaven that purified everything.

Zero was suddenly his favorite person in the world, more so than even Lelouch had been. No one else could be responsible for this explosion given that he left not long before the blast. Sacrificing the black knights was to show that he was somehow unsatisfied with their actions during the war and hence passed judgement on them. Zero had been saying from the beginning that birth and culture did not matter in the United States of Japan, and yet civilians of Britannia were targeted.

He had to meet this Zero. Together they could rid all war and hatred from this world by the sword of Damocles. It didn't matter who ruled the world after that.

A.N - So this is it. Almost all characters of first season get erased. I might add the thoughts of Chalres, Marianne or the future events later in a parts 2 but mostly it will remain a short story.

This fic will be a collection of one shots of what if scenarios as the name suggests. The changes will be very minute in one or two variables at most and not a complete A.U.

If you want to borrow them and make full stories, feel free to do so. If you want to suggest more alternate scenarios, please do so in the reviews.
