Summary continued:
Now in class 3-A, Bakugo is closer to achieving his goals than ever. With all of the horrors of the past year put behind him he's focused on starting on his way to becoming #1, but when a new addition to the class arrives, it looks like the trouble isn't over yet. With a razor sharp tongue and an attitude to boot, Ami quickly becomes a problem he can't ignore. Her being a transfer from Seiai already pisses him off enough, but when she starts to go out of her way to fuck with him is the final straw. What was supposed to be a year he spent improving himself turns into constant fights and problems. He can't fucking stand her... so why does he get so mad when someone else catches her attention?
"Alright! I need everyone's attention."
Katsuki looks up from his textbook as Class 3-A quiets down around him, turning their attention to their teacher. After a long first week back in class it was finally Friday and a few short minutes away from the dismissal bell. Their last year at UA had officially started and now that everything had calmed down they were starting to settle back in to a new type of "normal", continuing their studies to head on their way to becoming true pro heroes.
The unrest in the city had lasted an unbearably long time, with the citizens losing their trust in their heroes and villains taking that opportunity to run rampant. After the battles they'd been in and the destruction they'd seen it almost felt weird to be sitting back in a classroom, continuing to work towards their original goal. They'd already been thrown into fights no other students had ever had to go through in all of their time at UA. The result of one of those fights landed them all a semi-permanent home on UA's campus with their families, and in that time they hadn't been allowed to do much. So it was a welcome change getting back into their old habits.
"So," Aizawa continues, meeting the eyes of every student in the class. "I know it's the end of the day and I'm sure you're all ready to start your weekend, but I have a last minute announcement to make." He extends a hand towards the door. "We'll be welcoming a new student to our class today. A transfer from Seiai Academy."
Katsuki scoffs and looks out the window. Great, another extra. He had already had to adjust to Shinso's presence in their class, and now here came another. One from a rival school, no less.
"A transfer?" Mina grins widely and looks back at Tsu. "I don't think we've ever had a transfer before!"
"So we're getting another girl?" Mineta asks from behind him. "Sweet!"
"Yes and you will behave." Aizawa orders, no doubt sending the smaller boy cowering down in his seat. "You'll conduct yourself respectfully."
Katsuki rolls his eyes and exchanges a brief look with Kirishima. The purple creep acted like this girl would show interest and it annoyed the fuck out of him. Sometimes he really wondered how Mineta even made it into UA and how he managed to stay in.
The class starts chattering excitedly back and forth before the door opens, silencing them and pulling their attention back to the front of the room. Katsuki doesn't look away from the window again but he can hear that the first to walk in is Principal Nezu, who's speaking to someone following behind him.
"And this is class 3-A, you'll be joining them."
Light footsteps enter the classroom and the sound of Aizawa clearing his throat pulls Katsuki's attention. "This is Ami Fujiwara," then to her, "Is there anything you want to say?"
Standing now by their teacher's side with her arms crossed is a mixed girl with long, curly dark hair. Her eyes are a vivid purple, framed by long lashes and heavy winged eyeliner, and as she looks around at the class there's the tiniest sparkle against the side of her nose.
She looks... interesting.
The first thing Katsuki takes real note of is that she's not smiling. The second thing he notices is how the UA uniform clings to her, and from the sound of Mineta's annoying ass breathing he isn't the only one to take note.
"Well," Ami begins, uncrossing her arms to put them behind her back. "As you were probably told, I'm a last minute transfer from Seiai Academy." She shrugs. "Since my uncle works here he's the reason I got in on such short notice. I was born in America but moved here when I was 6 and I have a kind of manipulation quirk that's called "Overload". I produce a black fog from my skin that hijacks the senses. Mentally it projects my thoughts over my target's. Physically it's similar to pulling a puppet's strings. That's it, really."
Katsuki leans back in his chair and crosses his arms, studying her now. Now she's even more interesting. A quirk like that would be something to learn how to fight.
"Man she's totally hot." Kaminari whispers to his right.
"How did we get so lucky?" This time from Mineta. As expected.
"Who's your uncle?" Ashido asks excitedly, her voice rising over the others. "I'm Mina Ashido by the way!"
Ami's eyes flicker over Mina for a second before she gives her the tiniest of smiles. "Snipe." She says, much to the collective surprise of the class.
"That's so cool!"
Katsuki's eyes follow her as Mr. Aizawa points Ami to her seat in the newest row. Up until now, that row had only been occupied by Shinso, the other three seats sitting empty. One of which was directly in front of his view of the window.
One that's quickly occupied by this new student.
Figures.
Katsuki goes back into reading his textbook, more out of boredom than actual interest. With the way the class was whispering about her, he highly doubted that adding extra attention to Ami would be welcomed. He does, however, glance over when he feels eyes on him.
Ami's purple eyes lock with his before she quickly averts them, directing her attention up to their teacher who's now sitting again. She smoothes down her skirt and lightly clears her throat, but the look on her face sticks with him.
It was obvious interest. Recognition even.
Oh great, probably another fan girl extra from the sports festival, he thinks.
Katsuki was used to being recognized, since he, Shoto, and Deku were the main ones who fully displayed their quirks. Granted a lot of the attention he received was equally due to both his win and his denial of said win. That, and the fact that the three of them had done their third work study with Endeavor which led them into multiple fights, both in Japan and outside of it.
He scowls. He was used to it, but it never made it any more welcome.
As class ends and they begin to retire back to their dorms for the day, the girls swarm Ami, crowding his desk in the process.
His jaw ticks in annoyance. "YOU'RE TOO CLOSE!" He yells, only to be ignored as he expected. Of course.
"Are you staying in the dorms too?" Ochako asks, her cheerful tone making him roll his eyes.
"Yeah, actually." Ami looks towards the window and motions vaguely. "That's why I came in so late."
As the girls talk the bell rings, so they begin to lead her away with promises to give proper introductions once they get to the dormitory's common room.
Kaminari walks up to his desk and leans down, watching the girls as they leave one by one. "So, Kacchan." He begins, turning to give him a little grin. "The new girl."
Katsuki gives him an annoyed glare, "What about her?"
"Don't give me that," Kaminari elbows him. "I saw you looking at her. Looks like you're not as immune to girls as you thought."
With a grimace, Katsuki stands up and walks away. "Fuck off, you idiot. I wasn't looking." He yells back.
Footsteps jog up behind him once he's out in the hallway, but before Katsuki can turn around and snap at the blond for following him, Kirishima walks ahead before turning around backwards to face him.
"What was that about?" He asks, frowning.
Katsuki scoffs and looks away, tucking his book under his arms before shoving his hands in his pockets. "Nothing. Sparky was just being fucking dense as usual." He mutters.
"Ah-huh..." Kirishima turns back around to walk at Katsuki's side. "What about?"
"Why the hell does it matter?"
"Because you're more irritated than usual, man."
Was he? "He was just talking about the damn new girl. Saying I was looking at her."
Kirishima clears his throat and Katsuki turns to see a nervous look on his face.
"What? If you have something to say then fucking spit it out, Shitty hair."
"Well... You kinda were looking at her."
Katsuki grits his teeth, "I. Was. Not."
Holding up his hands, Eijiro backtracks. "To be fair, everyone was so I guess it really wasn't something to point out. She's really pretty, I mean."
"So?"
"So you admit you do think she's pretty." Kaminari chimes in, coming up behind them with a big grin.
"SHUT UP!"
Introductions in the common room were stupid. Katsuki sits on the couch with his arms crossed while everyone around the room takes turns introducing themselves and their quirks. He tunes it out, staring out the window with a grimace on his face. Going to his room immediately hadn't been an option he was allowed to choose, because the second he'd walked into the dorms he'd been dragged over to join the rest of the class.
"-and my quirk is obviously invisibility!" Hagakure chirps, doing a little spin. "
It's silent for a beat before he's lightly nudged on his right. Katsuki whips around to see why when he notices everyone's eyes on him. "What?" he snaps.
"It's your turn, Bakugo," comes Hagakure's voice from the uniform infront of him. She sounds frustrated like it's his fault for not knowing. He didn't even want to be here in the first place and they knew it.
Katsuki grunts and glances over to where Ami sits across from him. She looks... amused, by his irritation. That only gets on his nerves more. "This is stupid." He grumbles, crossing his arms and leaning back into the couch. It wasn't like she didn't already know about them. Everyone did.
"Come on, man! Don't be like that! " Kirishima elbows him from the left. "He's not too social." The apologetic words are directed at Ami, much to his further annoyance.
Ami lifts an eyebrow, "Not one for sharing?"
"Tch," Katsuki sits forward, his glare settling back on her before he motions to himself half-heatedly. "Bakugo Katsuki. My quirk is Explosion. Self explanatory."
When he doesn't say more they wait for a beat before they move on to Kirishima, who enthusiastically shows off his quirk. As the redhead does so, Katsuki's eyes drift back to Ami.
She's not looking at him anymore, an amused light in her eyes as she asks about his friend's quirk. She doesn't act like the other stuck up extras from Seiai, all proper and uppity like they were better than everyone.
No wonder she left, he thinks. She's... different.
Sitting in the common room after introductions were over lasted all of 5 seconds before he'd had enough and finally went to his room. He didn't want to deal with all the girls' excessive fucking squealing and loud ass talking. Even listening to it for a couple seconds had left him with a massive headache. They acted like they'd never met other people before.
Hard fucking pass.
Groaning, Katsuki rolls over and grabs his book off of the nightstand to pick up where he'd left off the night prior. He needed to get his mind off of his class before it cost him even more of his peace. Even though they were closer to him now than they had been in the beginning, they were still work to deal with. Work he preferred not to deal with when he could help it.
The quiet doesn't last long though, being broken after roughly an hour by a knock on his door.
Katsuki swears under his breath and glares at the door. "WHAT?" He yells, irritation thick in his tone.
"Are you coming down to go to the pool with us?" Kirishima's voice floats under the door. "You promised you would to make up for last weekend."
He'd completely forgotten about the promise he'd made after bailing on "Game Night" with the rest of 3-A the Friday prior. Katsuki hadn't been feeling too social -as usual- and had left before teams had even been picked, throwing a quick "Yeah, whatever" over his shoulder as he left when Kirishima had asked him if he'd come along to the pool the next weekend.
"Bakugo?"
Katsuki groans and bookmarks his page, hopping up off his bed to cross the room to his door. He unlocks and opens it before leveling his best friend with an annoyed look. "If I come will you stop talking?" He snaps.
Kirishima grins, nodding. "Until we get to the pool, definitely."
I guess that's fair enough. Katsuki sighs and turns around to grab his swim trunks from his drawer, starting to regret choosing this activity over the other. Had he stayed and "socialized" last weekend he could've been alone for this one.
After the boys change they head over to the school's pool, Kaminari and Sero meeting with them in the common room to tag along. Others are already swimming when they arrive, but a few people are noticibly absent.
"I thought you said everyone was coming." Katsuki comments, annoyed. "If I could've stayed behind then I would've." The girls were absent -including Ami-, as were Shinso and Tokoyami.
Kaminari frowns, but it's over-exaggerated in mocking way. "Oh no, it's such a horrible thing to have fun. Sorry we asked you to come, Kacchan." The sarcasm in his voice is heavy. "They'll be here."
Gritting his teeth to keep from snapping at the blond, Katsuki stomps over to an empty chair and throws his towel down. "This is so fucking stupid." He mutters under his breath for what feels like the hundredth time that day. While he would admit swimming sounded nice with how hot it was outside, he wouldn't let them know that. He pulls his shirt off over his head and tosses that in his chair before stalking over to the pool and dropping in. "If I have to be here," He calls over to the group. "then one of you idiots better make it worth it."
It doesn't take long for them to start another race, having never finished the one they'd started their first year at UA. This time, they all stick to actually swimming instead of using their quirks to gain an advantage above water. By the time the girls join them, the rounds have passed and Katsuki's mood had improved from his recent win.
"Oh sweet," Mineta whispers to the right. "The girls are here."
Rolling his eyes, Katsuki turns to look towards the doors. About time. What the hell took them so long?
The girls are still as energetic as they were earlier, laughing and talking as they find their chairs. Ami's with them, listening and nodding as she clutches the knotted towel wrapped around her. Her long, waist-length curls are pulled up into a high ponytail behind her head, which she tightens as she responds back to something Jiro says. She pulls her towel off and lays it across a chair, revealing a little white two-piece swimsuit spotted with color.
Katsuki's eyes travel down, noting the sparkly piercing above her navel. Definitely different.
"You're staring again."
Katsuki jumps when Kaminari's voice sounds next to him, closer than expected and annoyingly smug. He whips around angrily and dunks him under the water, effectively shutting him up. He wasn't fucking staring.
Ami turns then and their eyes meet before hers travel down to where he holds Kaminari beneath the surface. She purses her lips before her eyes meet his again and she turns away.
He blinks hard and turns away, too, letting the electric blond come up for air. She keeps looking at me. If anyone's staring it's her, not me.
Denki sputters and shoves him, "I could've killed us all by reflex, you know."
Rolling his eyes, Katsuki goes to rejoin the guys by the pool's edge, more annoyed now than he was before. He didn't appreciate Kaminari paying so much damn attention to him, and he really didn't appreciate being accused of stupid shit either. So the sooner this obligation could be cut short and he could leave, the better. He glances back over at Ami and once again their eyes meet.
He openly grimaces before turning away.
I can't wait for this shit to be over.
