Chapter 1: Safety
Hermione woke up to her parents fighting once again, it had been going on for months and it was her 11th birthday, obviously, they had forgotten about that due to fighting all the time. What Hermione couldn't understand was why didn't they ever consider taking a divorce. In her mind that would have made more sense than fighting every day of the year. Usually, Hermione's father, Tom would blame her for the arguments he had with her mother, Valerie. And that usually led to Hermione gaining painful bruises. When her teachers asked her where she got the bruises she lied she had fallen down the stairs or with her bike, anything but the truth. How was she supposed to tell anyone she was being abused at home? And who would believe her?
Not that Hermione was any more popular at school. She was being bullied by the other students for using clothes too big for her and for being smarter than the others. Hermione's mother had tried to explain to her that the other kids were just jealous because she was better and smarter than them, but she couldn't make herself believe it. The other kids were from good homes, they had designer clothes, their parents took them to school and none of them ever came to school trying to hide bruises they had got due to abuse. But they weren't as ambitious or as smart as she was. They didn't remember a thing from the books they read for the classes, and they didn't achieve as excellent grades as she did. Hermione didn't really understand it but she had a really good memory, anything she read was as if copy-pasted into her head. She also didn't understand how she made all the weird things around her happen. Once Hermione had run away from her bullies, and while trying to find a place to hide, she had somehow ended up at top of the school building. And once during a field trip, Hermione had somehow managed to land herself atop the tree and she had no idea how she had gotten there, her teacher was forced to call the fire department because Hermione was way too scared to get down, saying if she tried she would probably break her neck while trying. Of course that had landed her in detention and the very next day, she arrived at school with a black eye.
"I wish I got away from here, to somewhere where I am safe, somewhere where I wasn't abused or bullied, anywhere else but here," Hermione thought hugging her legs, trying to block out the yelling of her parents with no luck. She could swear they got louder and louder as the day went by. Hermione had always daydreamed about someone coming and taking her away from her parents so she wouldn't have to bear the yelling, neglect, and abuse anymore. She wished there was someone that knew what she was going through. A sudden tapping at her window woke Hermione up from her thoughts. She looked outside and her mouth fell open. There was a tiny brown owl, holding a letter at its beak. Trying to open the window as quietly as she could, Hermione let the owl in and took the letter. Turning it over, she let out a gasp.
Ms. H. Granger

"Hogwarts?" she whispered and tore open the letter and read:
"Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry
HEADMASTER: Albus Dumbledore
(Order Of Merlin First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Surely this couldn't be true? Could it? Questions exploded inside Hermione's head like fireworks. Did this mean she was a witch? Did this mean she could finally get friends and have a safe place to be? Did this mean the weird things she had somehow managed to do was her doing magic? Hoping for the best she decided to send her reply back as soon as she could and gave it to the owl that had stayed in her room. The owl flew out and she watched it going. Maybe this was her chance for a fresh beginning. No abuse or bullying.
A/n: I really wish you liked it. I haven't been writing for so long but I wish this wasn't a total disaster. Please leave a comment and tell me what you thought
