Frieda had always known about the burden of the crown. In the past, even the toughest of monarchs would crumble under its weight. The more power they had, the heavier it felt.

And no crown was heavier than the crown of the walls. When she was younger, she would picture this as a sword dangling above her head, held only by a single string of material. The infinite power, residing within the founding titan was something entirely different than anything other monarchs had at their disposal.

She could destroy the entire world if she misused her power.

Yet, Frieda was never supposed to use it. The founding titan was an epitome of a curse that plagued this earth for almost two thousand years. The only thing Eldians knew, was war and they spread it across all known lands. Had it not been for Karl Fritz, the subjects of Ymir would most certainly destroy both the world and themselves.

The first king was a great man indeed. He put an end to this curse and the responsibility for the peace he created had been bestowed upon his descendants.

However, in this very moment, all of that was gone from Frieda's head.

"King of the walls!" Cried out the man standing before her.

It remained a mystery how he had managed to get to the secret chapel. He didn't seem much, but Frieda knew that the man in front of her was the ultimate test to her conviction.

"I have come from beyond the walls!" He continued, looking at her family with wide eyes "I am a subject of Ymir, just like you!"

These words filled her relatives with visible unease. Indeed, this man was no random civilian who somehow made it into the chapel.

'How do I go about this?' Frieda thought as she looked him over. He didn't seem to possess any weapon, yet she couldn't stand the feeling of her own fear, slowly growing within her.

"Please, you must kill the titans attacking the walls at once!" The young woman heard him yell "before my wife… my kids… Before everyone is eaten!"

Their enemies have finally come for them. Frieda knew that doing nothing was the right thing to do, yet she couldn't shake over the thought of her people suffering.

Suddenly, she felt different. Like many other times before, something weird took over her mind. The young woman didn't know what it was exactly. Her father used to say that the same thing would happen to her uncle, when he was the king. But how could that be? Was her own will not quite her own?

Frieda closed her eyes. Momentarily, she could see it all.

She knew what to say and what to do.

"We cannot escape our sins" the monarch spoke as she opened her eyes "the time has come for the subjects of Ymir to face judgement."

The intruder looked at her with despair.

"Man is far too weak to wield such massive power" the king continued "the tragedy of the titan war has opened my eyes… Someone must keep the power of titans out of human hands."

Frieda didn't really know where these words were coming from. It felt as if Karl Fritz himself was speaking through her. Nevertheless, she kept on speaking.

"If the founder fell into weak hands, the world would be turned into hell once again. In order to protect peace, we must accept our sins. Our only choice is to perish."

The man looked at the Reiss family with an expression of utter horror.

"My home is beside the breach in the wall!" He cried out "I live there with my wife, my son and my daughter… The people who live in these walls know nothing of the crimes committed by their ancestors! All because you stole their memories!"

"How can you call this atonement?! Dooming us to be eaten by titans, ignorant to the very end?!"

Deep down, Frieda could relate to this man. After all, she would never want her dear sister to meet such a fate…

"No" the king spoke again "because no matter how we may repent, we Eldians will never return the lives we took… What we can do, is never take another life… So long as we remain ignorant and accept the world's rage, we will be the only ones who have to die…"

The young woman looked towards the intruder. In some instances, he was looking around nervously, as if to avert her gaze. Somehow, he felt like he didn't want to be here, like something was compelling him to stand there and oppose her. She thought about that weird notion for a second. If Karl Fritz's will really spoke through her actions, Frieda could relate to that.

"There's no point in trying to convince me" the king continued "even if you take my power, you won't be able to…"

"I know!" The man suddenly interjected.

Frieda looked at him in surprise. He was breathing heavily, yet now, his stance was changed.

"What…?"

"I realize I can't use the power of the founding titan" the intruder said slowly "each of the nine is unique in its own way… Including my attack titan…"

Frieda really didn't like where this was going.

"Ever since its creation, the attack titan never obeyed anyone… And now, I know why…"

"It's all been to resist the self-righteousness of the king… For this, one moment… It's why we've all been led to this memory…"

"The attack titan is capable of seeing the future!"

This was, indeed, most concerning. Nobody ever told Frieda about this, probably because nobody from the royal bloodline ever knew it.

"I've never heard…" the king spoke with wide eyes.

"I also knew that you would be unaware of this" the man said "because even if you are part of the royal family, the vow to renounce the war keeps you from using the founder's full power as well…"

So, this was the reason for all of those weird thoughts. The will of Karl Fritz haunted her ever since she acquired her power.

However, none of this mattered as of right now. Right now, she needed to protect the peace.

"I will eat the founder here, and kill the Reiss family…" the intruder spoke as he brought a scalpel to his hand "that is the future already set out for us…"

Upon that, her relatives tried to run away in fear. Frieda was paralyzed as the blade grazed upon the skin of her opponent. Her family was way too close to them. Should she risk a tragedy just to protect this precious peace?

Just before he managed to draw blood, she finally made her decision.

Two giant explosions ripped through the halls of the crystal chapel. As the giant bodies formed, Frieda was trying to comprehend how could she possibly put her own parents and siblings in danger.

When the smoke settled, two titans were staring at each other. Frieda's opponent was way bigger than her. Its rogue appearance was sending shivers of fear down her spine. She tried to assert the situation and looked behind.

Her family has been knocked out by the explosion. They were laying on the ground unconscious.

'What to do?' Frieda thought looking over her relatives.

She needed to get them somewhere safe, however it didn't sound feasible as of right now. That man's mission was to take away her power, so no matter where she would go, he would follow.

Suddenly, she realized she had made a grave mistake.

Instantly, she looked forward to see her foe, but it was already too late. He had already lunged towards her direction. As quickly as she could, Frieda prepared herself to engage him.

To her surprise it never came to be. The enemy titan seemed uninterested in combat and ran past her giant form.

Before she could do anything, he slammed down on her relatives.

"ROAAAR!" Frieda cried in grief as she desperately tried to save her family.

She jumped onto him, immobilizing the titan. It was at this moment that she saw the mangled corpses of her father, her mother and her siblings, laying around her foe.

'You will pay!' The young woman thought as she punched right at the titan's face.

The powerful hit destroyed his whole face. However, her enemy found opening in her unbalanced form and threw her off his body.

'You're not getting away with it!'

Without a moment of hesitation, she stood up and struck again. This time, she managed to hit him right in the head.

The blood spilled to the floor and smoke filled the air as her enemy desperately tried to heal himself.

'Not fast enough' Frieda thought as she delivered a powerful kick to the side of his head.

This time, she managed to knock the head off her enemy's shoulders. At that, her enemy's body went limp.

Once again, the young woman looked over the bodies of her murdered relatives. An utter feeling of rage started building up within her. Why did innocent people have to die again?

Frieda's titan looked towards the steaming neck of the intruder.

'This rebellion of the attack titan ends here' she thought as she crouched over it.

Without a second thought, she sunk her sharp teeth into the nape area.
