He was born of a dying planet encrusted with rock, sand, and salted oceans. She was born of Earth; rich, vibrant marble of life among the few in the Milky Way. Somehow they found each other to be soulmates and the founding of their love took them far from shores they knew to places strange and remote in their consciousness together. The Tree of Vea Lacei had its roots in this couple.
And then Fate would tear them apart. Isole, the woman, would be brought to the Cauldron of Creation, and her DNA would rewrite a universe. Rakhana and Earth would combine into one, as all possessed the same code found in the woman led to her demise.
To assuage the bereft lover, Cassius, insurmountable power would be given to him as consolation.
Isole was a part of him forever, combined from her Synthesis with the Cauldron of Creation. But few lovers, if any, are content to only possess their soulmate as an essence, and not tangible reality in their arms.
Cassius, a drell from Rakhana, developed the MindWalker—a sleeping machine in which he formulates a world to interact with the woman who died to create his world as is outside the MindWalker. The caveat—he is using Isole's mind to create a partition in Vea Lacei, and the consequences shall endure, but will the creation of a mind within a mind lead to terrible, unalterable consequences? As Cassius draws and designs from the drell's fantastic propensity for flawless, vivid memories to reunite with his beloved's form, he drifts in and out of the consequences from this impossible rift that shapes and shakes both worlds.
How will all end when the woman who sleeps and shares her image of Vea Lacei with all who occupy it, awakens to the rupture? And what will happen when two versions of Isole find themselves awakened, and a lover falls in love again with but second version of the first? Will the lover stop loving; will the sleeper stop sleeping?
A romance? Or tragedy waiting….for all.
