Hello, all! This is a rewrite of my very first Whiterose fanfic, titled "My Princess", published in early 2019. You can still find the original on my page.
This fanfic will begin uploading from chapter 1 on June 1st and will receive updates frequently until we reach Arc 2.
If you recognize this story, well, welcome back!
The rewrite will consist of much more world-building, elaborations and clarifications, a smoother storyline and brand new scenes, such as the prologue!
Enjoy!
Note: My Princess [Rewrite] will be cross-posted on Ao3.

Prologue
6:49…
Her heart thumps in her ears, and a numbing sensation spreads through her body like the coldness of winter wind. Her breaths are quick and concentrated, made in an attempt to regulate the furious beating of her heart. The scroll trembles as her fingers quiver, its bright blue light shining almost painfully into her tired eyes.
One side of her is nervous, fearful that the day she's been looking forward to for so long will go tragically wrong. On the other hand, her other side is practically bouncing with eagerness, excitedly waiting for the clock to strike seven so she could set the day into motion.
She'd planned the entire day on her own, without consulting anybody else except herself to prevent as much distraction as possible. She hadn't even informed her sister of her decision, fearing the older woman would accidentally ruin all of her hard work with one single shout of excitement.
The scroll droops in her hand as Ruby reaches into her coat pocket, her fingers brushing velvet as she withdraws a small, black box. Her heart skips a beat, there's a deafening ringing in her ears. Ruby's chest becomes heavy, her thumb pressed on the lid, which she carefully pulls up, and the box opens with a gentle 'pop' noise.
A little, handcrafted silver ring sits in the center; the upper half of the band features a delicately created rose shape, adorning a clear-blue diamond in the middle. The rose's petals are a gleaming white with sapphire accents.
Her scroll vibrates and Ruby's eyes dart up in surprise, jolting her out of her stupor.
7:00.
Her throat constricts and she holds her breath for a fraction of a second. Ruby's heart nearly beats out of her chest as her body freezes. She turns her head to look back at the white-haired woman behind her, observing the rise and fall of the blankets for a moment.
Ruby swallows hard and slips the box back into her pocket, placing her scroll on the nightstand and turning around by drawing her knees up on the bed. She moves to hover over her sleeping girlfriend, supporting her weight with one arm on the other side of her.
A faint grin tugs at the corner of her lips as her heart swells with emotion. She didn't want to wake her up in the first place, but if she doesn't, she'll back out for the third time.
'Okay.'
"Princess…" Ruby murmurs, reaching down and gently kissing the bridge of her girlfriend's nose, chuckling as white brows furrow in disturbance. Ruby sweeps her lips across the woman's brow, peppering her face with sweet pecks of adoration whilst her heart flutters like a kaleidoscope of butterflies.
When a hand is forcibly forced on her chest, pushing her up and away from her, Ruby makes a confused noise. Weiss' weary light blue eyes glare at her. "Uh, no."
Ruby scoffs, amused and a little disappointed that her original plan didn't work out. Ruby clutches the fold of the blankets and changes her weight so that her knee isn't holding it down as Weiss lays back down. "Uh, yes." She takes the blankets from under her with one swift move, prompting Weiss to sit up quickly in an attempt to grab them.
Silver eyes meet with an irritated, burning, blue pair.
Ruby chirps, "Good morning."
"You'd better have an excellent cause for getting me up at seven on a Saturday…" Weiss mutters.
"Is 'happy birthday' from your loving girlfriend good enough?" Ruby jokes.
"No," Weiss answers sharply.
Ruby giggles, sliding out of the bed and gently grasping Weiss' arms to pull her to her feet. The woman grunts in annoyance, rushing through all the stages of grief before finally accepting that she would not be going back to sleep any time soon.
"Get dressed, Princess." Ruby says sweetly, kissing the back of her girlfriend's hand, "Meet me outside."
Weiss tiredly stares at her for a moment before humming her affirmative response, pulling her hands away from Ruby and approaching the dorm's bathroom. "I am not going anywhere until I've had a shower."
As soon as the door closes, Ruby quickly sweeps Zwei off his bed on the floor. The corgi gives a soft woof of confusion. "You remember the plan boy?" She asks with a grin, giggling when the old dog wags his stubby tail in response, Ruby sets him back on the floor and his little paws quickly race across the carpet and towards Ruby's dresser.
He stops and pushes his head under the dresser, his back paws struggling and kicking behind him for a moment before he pulls his head back out, turning his head to reveal a red and white rose in his mouth. His tail wags again as he pads over to the bathroom door, sitting down to wait patiently for Weiss to open the door.
"Good boy," Ruby rubs the back of his fuzzy head, "lead her out to the back for me, okay?"
The dog wags his tail and Ruby walks away, sparing a glance towards her sleeping teammates before slipping out the dorm room door, closing it as silently as she could to prevent waking Blake.
Ruby retrieves the velvet box from her pocket and flips it open, admiring the ring for a moment before closing her eyes and shutting the box.
'Okay. You've got this.'
If she accepts, tonight would be the start of the rest of their lives.
