Timeframe: PTOT, post-RotJ, NJO and beyond, mostly in my AU Enter!verse(s)

Characters: Skywalkers, Solos, a bunch of OCs, the cast of EtF, and anyone else I feel like writing about

Genre: everything?

.

Written in response to Ultimate Drabble Challenge X over on the Jedi Council Forums. Twenty weeks of drabbles, five prompts each week... let's see if I can make it through all 100. ;)

Most of these will take place in one of two AUs: my main Enter!verse, and the happier AU that branches off at the end of Enter the Foreign. Needless to say, spoilers for EtF will abound. I might throw in some other AUs or some canon and/or regular Legends stuff along the way, if the mood strikes. (See the index below for specific characters, pairings, time periods, etc.)

As always, I hope you enjoy!

Week One

43-47 ABY, Enter!verse AU

.

.

1. Prelude

.

Jacen Solo arrives on Korriban late in the day, after the sun has already reached its brutal zenith and begun its descent toward the horizon. The creatures of this world are quick to notice him; its people, less so. The soldiers on patrol in Dreshdae don't pay him any notice. He's not sure if that irritates him or not.

The Sith Lords in their dreary fortress, however, recognize him instantly. One of them, a Devaronian with deep crimson skin, bares his teeth in a bemused, razor-sharp smile when Jacen comes knocking.

"You look pretty damn good for a dead man."

.

.

2. Bygone

.

He turns the lightsaber over in his hands, running weathered fingers across its contoured grip. A little too small for his own hand, but perfect for hers. He ignites the weapon, and as it saturates the dark cave with its dazzling violet light, he remembers their final moments together, how he held her close and begged the universe to give her back.

Would she be angry with him for keeping it, for holding on to this piece of their past, this piece of her? Does he have a right to it anymore?

(does it even matter now that she's gone)

.

.

3. Impend

.

Even two months after the fight with Jaina, his injuries haven't fully healed. That's the only reason he's here.

"I thought you Jedi were trained to heal?"

He lowers the hem of his shirt, meeting the medic's cool blue gaze. "To an extent," he replies. "But I haven't been a Jedi for a while now."

She shrugs and looks away, opening a cabinet. "Sounds like an excuse if you ask me."

"I wasn't asking you."

"Hey." She turns and shakes a pill bottle at him, and smirks. It's not an unattractive look. "Don't argue with the woman holding the meds."

.

.

4. Descend

.

It's been so long since he killed another person with a lightsaber that it feels a bit surreal. He thought it would take longer, require more effort—

(jam the emitter up under his chin, it's over before he can scream)

—and Darth Wyyrlok lies dead at his feet. There's something a little thrilling in how quickly it ends, in how thoroughly he dominates the Sith Master's top lieutenant, even after years of seeming stagnation.

(there's always been a thrill there, beneath the horror of what he is capable of)

Jacen turns toward the inner chamber, eager for what comes next.

.

.

5. Arise

.

The role of Darth Krayt should be an easy one to play. Just put on a mask and pretend he's someone else, repeat all their dogma, their lies, turn a blind eye to every cruelty, like he has for years. But even though he's had plenty of practice ignoring his natural empathy, he still feels their pain, the way they reach out in their misery for something – anything – to hold on to.

Being Darth Krayt should be easy, because these Sith crave destruction, but they also crave someone to believe in, and he knows just how to give them that.
