The long-awaited Death Eater meeting was held on one of July's hottest evenings.

That night, Malfoy Manor's dining room was filled with Voldemort's most elite followers, including Severus, Lily, Bellatrix Leatrange, the Malfoys themselves, and a plethora of other notable Dark Witches and Wizards.

Ellery sat between Severus and Harriet as he glanced around nervously.

Harriet was eager to show off the new summer robes Lily had purchased for her.

To her great dismay, Draco was also present. He sat across the table, next to his own parents, though Harriet didn't notice the looks of admiration he cast at her between the hateful scowls they threw at each other.

Draco silently wished he and Harriet would be asked to leave the room.

Then perhaps he could come close enough to let her notice he had worn his father's expensive cologne.

They could walk down the hall and pause by the window to admire the bright moonlight.

As they gazed into each other's eyes, Draco would lean in…….

He would whisper a sentence of pure love before Harriet fell helplessly into his arms and pressed her lips against his for-

A sudden jolt of unwelcome collision interrupted Draco's fantasy as he looked under the table with a furious scowl to see Harriet's foot slinking away from his.

"What are you staring at, Malfoy?!" Harriet hissed while the adults all busied themselves with their own conversations as they waited for the Dark Lord to make his appearance.

"How ugly you look in that ridiculous outfit, Snape!" Draco shot back with a hateful sneer.

Harriet clenched her jaw as she resisted the urge to launch herself across the table and engage her enemy in hands-on combat when the doors to the grand, gothic room were suddenly thrown open.

The many ongoing chats ended as everyone rose while Voldemort proudly strode in, took his seat, and motioned for everyone to sit back down.

Behind him walked a tall, rugged man with a thick patch of dark hair on his wide chest, exposed by his partially open shirt.

Harriet, Draco, and Ellery all blinked as they watched the towering man take heavy, ominous steps towards Voldemort.

Lily reached under the table and grabbed Severus's hand, which he squeezed tightly in his own.

"Firstly, I would like to thank you all for coming tonight." Voldemort said with a wicked grin as he gestured around the table with his pale hand, "It does please me to know I have such loyal friends!"

Harriet watched as the large man came to stand directly beside Voldemort.

"Secondly," The Dark Lord grinned, "I'd like to express my great pleasure that we have so many new, promising faces with us this evening. Several of our youngest generation…" He nodded at Ellery and Draco, "Including our very own dear Harriet!" He laughed as he stared at Severus and Lily's daughter.

Quiet applause circled the table, but Voldemort silenced it quickly with an irritated wave of his hand.

"In addition to that!" He exclaimed as his eyes widened in excitement, "...I can proudly announce that our cause has won a huge victory in these last months……While our world largely shuns those afflicted with Lycanthropy, I myself see the value of these noble individuals….Our latest recruit, Fenrir Greyback, has come this evening to express the great joy those who suffer from his condition feel at being invited to join our mighty legion!"

As another round of enthusiastic applause erupted around the table, the massive man next to Voldemort, Fenrir Greyback, scowled at each person as he let out an inhuman growl.

Severus shuddered at the sound.

Once the clapping died away, Lily squeezed her husband's hand again as Fenrir passed behind their chairs on his way to the only empty seat at the table, a chair next to Harriet.

Nervous nausea churned Severus's stomach as he grappled with the trauma from his youth that Fenrir's presence forced him to relive.

Lily had no specific phobia of werewolves, but regardless, there was something about Fenrir's wild, ominous demeanor she found unnerving.

Ellery and Draco looked aghast as the impressively barrel-chested, large man sat down close to them, yet Harriet seemed curious.

While Voldemort took a brief break from his announcements to answer a couple of urgent questions called out by his Death Eaters, Harriet couldn't help but let her emerald gaze drift over Fenrir as if she sought to learn something.

"What are you staring at?" He snapped as he scowled at her.

"Sorry…..I've never seen a werewolf before." Harriet blinked.

Her father's diligence about the brewing and administration of Professor Lupin's Wolfsbane Potion stopped her from realizing the ignorance of her own statement.

"I'm Harriet Snape, Severus's daughter." Harriet introduced herself without being asked.

"You're young." Fenrir determined with a snort of disapproval as his dark eyes moved over her face down to what he could see of her developing figure.

If Severus and Lily would have heard their conversation, the Snape family would have been murdered after both Harriet's parents attacked Fenrir for his actions.

"I'm a rising fourth year at Hogwarts." Harriet nodded with a smile, "Three more to go after this one!"

Fenrir glanced from the subtle curves of Harriet's small breasts back up to her face as he snorted again and replied, "...An ample waste of your time."

"I beg your pardon?" She asked with a mirthless chuckle.

"Educating women is foolish." Fenrir scoffed as he gazed into Harriet's emerald eyes. The look in his dark stare was purely predatory as he informed her, "If you were my mate, you'd already be at home with pups at your breasts."

Harriet sucked in a breath.

No boy, or man, had ever said anything quite so bold to her.

Despite the revolting age difference between her and Fenrir, her lips threatened to curl into a flustered smile.

Ellery grimaced in disgust but Draco suddenly stood from his seat.

"Pardon me, my lord." He hastily nodded as he glanced at Voldemort, who looked at him in startled surprise, "I……I'm not well."

"DRACO!" Narcissa shouted in embarrassment as her son hurried out of the room.

There hadn't been many instances of someone prematurely leaving a Death Eater meeting without Voldemort's express permission beforehand.

Draco knew he very well may have risked his life by interrupting the Dark Lord's event, but as he stomped into the lacquered hallway of Malfoy Manor, he found it difficult to care.

A haughty sneer marred his handsome face as he stared out the window at the grey grounds beyond the mansion's walls.

He balled his fingers into clenched fists until the edges of his nails dug into the flesh of his palms as he grit his teeth.

In the dining room, Draco had had to tense every muscle in his body to refrain from slapping Fenrir across the face for what he had said to Harriet.

While the meeting continued without him, Narcissa and Lucius exchanged worried glances as they fretted over what may have stricken their son.

Although Draco's plight was far from life-threatening, there were few illnesses as miserable as an aching heart.

Too fascinated to simply leave him alone, once Voldemort's speech concluded, Harriet all but ignored her brother and used every available chance to chat with Fenrir.

Her flirting eventually became too blatant to ignore.

As Lily nodded along while Voldemort engaged her in conversation, Severus scowled over at his daughter and the vicious werewolf.

His black gaze moved over to his son who returned his frown with an expression of equal melancholy.

The other Death Eaters present did their best to laugh, talk, and give the impression they relished the night, but as an accomplished Legilimens and an empath, Severus easily saw the truth.

Bellatrix and Harriet were the only ones present who truly enjoyed the party.

As soon as the Snape family arrived home, the aftermath of the meeting's disturbing scene began to take a toll on Severus.

Ellery bid everyone goodnight and headed off to bed before Harriet followed closely behind him.

Lily could see the anger on her husband's pale, anguished face as he ascended the cottage's staircase, intent on having a very stern discussion with his daughter, but Lily caught his hand before he could make it very far.

"Sev, love, you can't go up and see her like this." She said with a quiet laugh.

"I beg your pardon?" Severus hissed.

Lily slowly walked to stand beside him on the stairs before she placed a hand on his chest and looked into her husband's dark eyes while she pleaded, "Let me talk to her, love. She's in her teenage years now, matters like this are best kept between mother and daughter."

Severus blanched for a moment as Lily reasoned, "She'll tell me more than she'll tell you, you know that, right?"

She grinned as she leaned forward and kissed his cheek before she pecked his lips as she took a step forward and nodded, "Don't worry, Sev, I know what to say."

"...Warn her." Severus pleaded with Lily.

The mournful tone he used sent her expression spiraling into a frown as she nodded and said, "Of course, Sev. We'll keep her safe, don't worry."

"...Not if we let her fall into Fenrir Greyback's clutches." Severus murmured as he turned around and began to walk down the stairs.

"What was that?" Lily quipped.

"Nothing, my love." Severus replied as he glanced over his shoulder, "...Nothing….at all."

Lily frowned before she turned and went to Harriet's room.

Severus wore a worried scowl as he watched her disappear across the landing at the top of the stairs.

As much as he loved Lily, he wanted with all his heart to protect Harriet from harm.

Severus knew he could not ultimately defend her against Voldemort in the final battle, but he could certainly keep pesky, lustful werewolves at bay.

Lily frowned as she knocked on her daughter's door a moment later.

"Come in…" Harriet called.

She blinked as she sat in her bed and watched her door open as her mother walked into her bedroom.

"Hello, Mum." Harriet frowned.

"Hello, sweetheart!" Lily beamed, "Sorry to disturb you, I just wanted to chat about something before you fell asleep. Mind if I sit?"

"No…..of course not." Harriet nodded as she moved over in bed.

Lily carefully sat down on the edge of the mattress with a smile as she crossed her legs and put her hands on her knee.

For a moment, mother and daughter stared awkwardly at each other until Harriet asked, "So…….what is it exactly that you wanted to talk about?"

"Well, you see, your father and I just…..we just want to make sure you stay safe, sweetheart." Lily said as she reached out and took Harriet's hand.

"What do you mean?" Harriet frowned.

Lily cleared her throat as she spoke, "We overheard you talking to Mr. Greyback tonight and-"

"-MUM!" Harriet interjected.

"-And…..we just want you to be careful, love, that's all." Lily finished.

Harriet's eyes widened as her cheeks burned bright red.

"Don't let looks deceive you, Harriet." Lily frowned, "Fenrir Greyback is a vicious man."

"Mum, I only talked to him because I've never met a real werewolf before!" Harriet sighed as Lily rubbed the back of her hand.

She smiled at her daughter's ironic ignorance of Remus's condition.

"Be that as it may, love, please watch your heart closely." Lily nodded.

Harriet sighed again and looked away as any obstinate teenage girl might, but Lily continued to reach out.

"I had a friend once who let a popular Quidditch player talk her into going on a date." She revealed.

Harriet glanced at her mother.

"He charmed her with his arrogance, his money….and his friends…..Before she knew it, she found herself forced to marry him, since she was with child." Lily continued.

Harriet frowned.

"Once he finally got what he wanted from her though, he left her on her own to fend for herself, in complete and utter neglect. Please don't let yourself be so easily swindled, my darling." Lily begged Harriet with a sad smile.

"What happened to your friend, Mum?" Harriet frowned.

"One of my other friends came and rescued her. They're happy and in love, finally, but it was a long, bumpy road that could have been avoided if she had been a bit smarter about it all." Lily chuckled.

"Can I meet them someday?...Your friends?" Harriet asked.

"Perhaps." Lily smirked as she contemplated her veiled statement. She pulled the covers up to Harriet's chest as she stood from her daughter's bed and nodded, "For now, you need to get some rest. I'll see you in the morning, alright?"

"Alright." Harriet yawned as Lily kissed her forehead.

Once Lily left Harriet's room, memories of the past danced through her mind.

In the hallway's tranquil silence, she wiped sentimental tears from her emerald eyes as she paused to consider the vast aptitude for love her dear Severus possessed.
