welcome the fortieth chapter of my 'Vampire Knight' fanfiction which I have titled 'Life With Yuuki: 'Vampire Knight' As Told by Zero'. in this particular chapter, Zero and Yuuki are still at Takuma Ichijo's birthday party, but are the only ones not having any sort of fun, especially not when considering that the atmosphere centered around the party is filled to bursting with the of blood.

this fortieth chapter of 'Life With Yuuki: 'Vampire Knight' As Told by Zero' is a short(er) chapter with just six-hundred-fifty-four words of pure storyline, a storyline that does not include the description up above this paragraph, this headnote, right here, explaining the length of words in this chapter, or the disclaimer which makes up the following paragraph. I bet your wondering why the disclaimer is the same as chapters thirty-three through thirty-nine. I will inform you of it within the next chapter, so just enjoy this fortieth chapter for now.

disclamation: I don't own 'Vampire Knight' in any way, shape, or form, be it the anime or the manga. Matsuri Hino owns the rights to the manga while the cast and crew for the anime are the people from Viz Media. if I had owned even one bit of even the anime, I so wouldn't have let it draw to a conclusion on such a note as what it had. I would've continued it a lot further into the manga and ended it the right way. I really wish that Viz Media had ended the anime the right way, or would at least make a reboot of the anime, like FUNimation had with 'Fruits Basket' when they discovered that it had come out with a sequel manga series.

As my Yuuki sat next to that Kaname Kuuran and I stood to her side, we both watched as the Night Class students fed and enjoyed every last moment of it. It was then that I noticed that Kaname Kuuran drink from a goblet glass filled with blood tablet mixings to his health as Yuuki sat next to him.

Then, I noticed a vampire couple enjoying one another's company with a drink of blood tablet mixings themselves. The young male vampire held onto his girlfriend's goblet as she drank from it. She then looked to have spilt some of her drink from her lips. Her boyfriend cleaned up the artificial blood she dripped from her chin upwards to her lips. Not long following the male vampire cleaning up his vampiress girlfriend's spilt blood tablet mixings, she then bit into her boyfriend's finger as though she had also wanted some of the real thing in addition to the tablet.

I looked back in my Yuuki's direction as she sat next to that Kaname Kuuran. I saw her hold onto her arms uncomfortably. I knew that I certainly felt uncomfortable about the atmosphere of the party. Then, however, I saw Yuuki slightly let go of her right arm in relief as though she no longer felt her injury at all. My precious little Yuuki then chanced a glance at that Kaname Kuuran. When he looked at her, she looked away and blushed. She looked at me for a short few seconds following her glance at that Kaname Kuuran. I only tried to have my eyes closed before I looked away back in the direction of the party. I caught a glance at Takuma cutting a slice of his birthday cake.

Takuma Ichijo: Shiki, you want to cut it?

Then, Takuma passed the knife onto Senri for cutting the cake even further.

Senri Shiki: Sure. Hold the cake for me, Ichijo.

Senri wound up grabbing the knife too quickly for Takuma's comfort and cut his own friend's finger.

Takuma Ichijo: You cut me.

I bet Takuma, being the natural light-headed and humane vampire he was, thought that Senri having cut his finger at the time was nothing short of an accident, but I knew it was on purpose, even while Senri apologized to his friend.

Senri Shiki: Sorry, but don't waste it.

Then, Senri began to lick at Takuma's wound.

Takuma Ichijo: Senri, you cut me on purpose just now, didn't you?

The blonde birthday vampire was finally catching onto his friend's little intention in his action by then. I, on the other hand, could not even stand such an air at that party. It was disgusting. I knew that running away was wrong, but I could help it no more at the time.

I tried my hardest to get away from that party's horridly disturbing atmosphere, but it was only getting harder and harder to keep my accursed bloodlust inside of my own body. I tore at my own Day Class uniform, taking all of my garments off of my torso then my arms one at a time. My body was burning up with the sensation of being completely parched.

I could suddenly feel someone following me as I ran away from the vampires' festivities. I had to get away from whoever it was, no matter what the cost. I was in no such condition to be comforted by anyone at all. I held onto a container box of blood tablets as I ran away from both the festivities and whoever was following me, even when knowing that those things did not even work well enough for me. I was definitely the rarest and the most dangerous kind of human-turned-vampire. It was the same kind of formerly-human-vampire whose body could not even tolerate and simply rejected the blood tablets.
