Sorry for and grammar issues or spelling. I tried to fix everything.
She laid in bed, unable to sleep. Hermes had delivered the letter earlier the day. She recalled him saying that it was his first task of the day. She rolled over onto her side as she pulled her pillow to her chest, hugging it close to her. She blushed when she recalled his other words. Of all the years working with Hades. He has never corresponded with someone so much. Not even with his own brothers. I wonder what the two of you speak of. He had raised his eyebrows in a suggestive way. She had laughed it off and said No, you miss understood. I merely seek knowledge and advice. Hermes had moved to stand behind her as he held the letter in front of her as he whispered in her ear Is that is all you seek? She had laughed at the question not truly understanding it.
What else could I ask from him?She had wondered as she pulled the letter from her night gown. She bit her lip as she stared at the envelope in her hands. I really should get some rest. I have a big day with Lady yawned as she turned on to her back and began to fall asleep, her thoughts on Lord Hades and Hermes' words.
"Kore! I am so sorry dear sister, I am not sure what has gotten into this girl!" Persephone's jerked awake as she heard her mother stomping up the stairs to her room. Oh no! I'm late bolted out of bad as she heard her mothers steps coming closer. Shit shit, what did I do with the panicked looking around for it. I can be so careless at times!Demeter opened the door as Persephone spotted the letter by the door. "Child! What is wrong with you? You mustn't make Lady Hestia wait, she has important things to do!" Demeter went to move closer to her daughter, but the letter on the floor had caught her attention as well. Persephone gulped as she watched her mother move to letter. "What is this?!" "Uh it's uh letter..." Persephone felt her heart rate increase. She knew If her mother found out she'd be in big trouble. Not only was she corresponding with a male, which was bad enough. She was sending letters to The King of the Underworld! Surely her mother would truly lose it and...she shuddered at the thought. Unbeknownst to them, Lady Hestia had fallowed Demeter out of curiosity. She watched as the scene unfold before her, but unlike Demeter noticed the panic on Persephone's face. "Dear sister, perhaps it's best we let her get ready."
Demeter eyed her daughter as Hestia spoke. "This gives us time to break our feast together dear sister. I do miss those days" Demeter eyes lite up in excitement, how she missed spending time with her dear sister. No one seemed to understand her better then Hestia. Truth be told, must Gods spoke of her in that way. For she was kind and understanding of others. "Kore, meet us downstairs once ready! And clean up your room!" Demeter yelled as she slammed the door shut, but not before Persephone shot Hestia a small, as if thanking her. She fully intended to after they left her mothers home. Looking around she huffed as she realize that the only thing out of place was the letter on the ground. And her bed, but she had be frantic in her search that she had tossed the pillows and blankets on the ground. She quickly picked up the letter, vowing not to be careless again. She could let her mother find out. That would mean the end. And as of right now, all she wanted to do was to continue to know Lord Hades.
After quickly making her bed, Persephone joined the other goddess. She reached the bottom of the stairs she heard her mother laugh. She smiled, she couldn't remember the last time her mother laugh that deeply. "And I recall you throwing mud at Zeus!" They both laughed. "He had it coming and more he's lucky that's all I did!" Demeter had said between laughter. Persephone walked in to the kitchen a smile on her face as both woman broke out into a fit of laughter. Only stoping when she walked in. Demeter straighten her self up as she spoke. "As punishment for not being up on time, you will go with out breaking your feast until later." Persephone wanted to groan in frustration but she knew if she did, her mother would punish her even worse. So she nodded, with a tight smile. "Yes mother, I apologize Lady Hestia for being late. You have take time from your duties to spend with me. I shall not fail you again." She bowed her had as she spoke. Demeter spoke before Lady Hestia could "Make sure you keep your word. Or else." Persephone gulped "Of course Mother!" "And as for the letter-" she had hoped her mother had long forgotten about it. "Oh Dear sister, do not concern yourself with that, I had sent it to her." With those simple words Demeter dismissed the subject. "Oh kind of you! And you! How dare you be so careless!" She bowed her head further. She truly owed the older goddess a big thank you, and possibly an explanation.
"Well if that is it, then we should truly be heading out." Hugging her mother goodbye she made her way to the door. Lady Hestia fallowing her, as she said her goodbyes to Demeter promising to come back and spend time with her. As she walked down the path, Persephone soaked up the sun. Enjoying the warm sun on her skin. She finally spoke after a few minutes. "I-I..Thank you my Lady." Hestia smiled kindly at the young woman. Placing her arm around the goddess. "No need to thank me, I know how your mother can be-" her stomach decide to rumble and make a noise that almost sounded like an animal. The two goddess giggled "We should get you some food-" "but mother said-" "ssh, I won't tell. If you don't." "Thank you my lady!"
Persephone and Hestia made their way to a meadow with trees surrounding beautiful field covered in different types of sat down on the closest tree to them. Persephone smiled as she looked around. Lady Hestia pulling out a loaf and a small cloth filled with grapes. She had managed to grab the items while Demeter scolded her daughter, too distracted to notice. "You mother can be a little rough around the edges." The young goddess nodded in agreement as she bit into the loaf of bread. "But she truly means well. She's just likes things her way." She watched as the goddess eyes widen in agreement once more as she swallowed the piece of bread. She quickly fallowed it with a grape.
"I understand my lady, mother is well mother. I am not sure what caused her to be this way, but I understand. I do love her still. I just wish..she wouldn't be so harsh on me sometimes. I am trying my best." Hestia eyes never leaving the young goddess face as she spoke. She was happy to be able to be a ear for the young girl. She left bad for not coming earlier but Demeter truly kept most at arms length after her birth. Her mother made sure no one came near her but nymphs. Even then she only trusted a few. Didn't want them to 'corrupt' her sweet Kore.
"The letter is from" she could tell the young goddess was hesitant to tell her. "You do not-" " no I want to, it just gets hard sometimes. To speak I mean. I always have to watch my words with mother" Hestia nodded as she stared at the young goddess, who stared at the meadow, tears welding up in her eyes. "I'm sorry, I-I" "ssh it's okay, take your time." She placed her arms around the young goddess rubbing her arms in comfort. "Th-thank you." She managed out as she swelled her tears. She wiped her eyes, as she turned to look at the older goddess. She wasn't sure why she was crying, no she knew why, because she was doing something behind her mother's back, and she knew her mother would not react well to the fallowing words that left her mouth."The letter is from Lord Hades" There she had said, and it felt good.
Hestia wasn't sure how to respond, she wasn't expecting that to be the answer. But she now understood the girls panic. Her mother hated males, and had vowed to never allow a man to know her daughter. She had never agreed with her choice and voiced it to her. That was when Demeter had pushed her away. Sighing Hestia chuckled at the young goddess predicament. "And how exactly did the Goddess of Spring come into contact with The King of the Underworld?" Persephone blushed. "Well Zeus...I mean father..." "I should have known he was involved." Persephone smiled at the older goddess, she thought she would receive a lecture as to why she shouldn't speak to Lord Hades. But instead what shocked her, was how fondly she spoke of him. "Quite honestly, and between you and I," she whispered to the you her goddess "Hades has always been one of my favorite god. He is more level head then most of these gods combined!" Persephone giggled as she heard that but felt relieved for some reason. She had nodded in agreement "yes, his letters and journal are filed with insight and wisdom. He is honest and from what I can tell very kind. See father had given me his journal to further my studies of the underworld. And once I realized what father had done, I had asked Hermes to deliver a letter to Lord Hades explaining what happened. I-I wasn't expecting such kindness from him" Hestia raised an eyebrow at her. "Letters? More then one."
As if possible Persephone face turned more red in color and at the statement, no denying it now. "Yes, we've exchanged a few letters for a while now." Hestia placed her hand over the young goddess, pulling her closer. She placed a gentle kiss on her head. "Hades is a kind man. I watched him build his kingdom and become the King he is today, fair and just. He has no time for games or patience for them. He was the first to truly understand what I meant when I told him I held no desire for males or females."
Persephone pulled away from the older goddess staring at her face. "You mean?" Hestia nodded as she rubbed the goddess arms again. "Yes, he was one of the first I told. We had shared a kiss and then laugh, we both felt nothing for each other at least in a romantic way. He helped me understand that I was not wrong for how I felt and that I should embrace it. Zeus wanted to make me his queen." Persephone stared in shock not daring to interrupt as the older goddess continued on. "I truly did not desire that, and with the help of Hades, I was able to make Zeus understand that I held no sexual desire for any males or females. I feel nothing when it come to those passions." Persephone moved her gaze to the meadow before her pondering the information being shared. "Really?" "Yes, remember the human village? I had also seen-" Persephone turned red again, embarrassed to have been caught. "Do not be embarrassed, most would have felt something. I do not. I have seen it all, mind you. And nothing." "Seen it all?" "It was a form of a test for Zeus. He had taken me to a brothel, where I saw men bending over other men, woman enjoying other woman. Two men and one woman-" Hestia stopped talking as she watch the younger goddess turned red. Realizing now how sheltered the young goddess truly was.
Persephone felt her face become warm, she truly lived a sheltered life. She never thought of such acts being possible, her mother always made sure the nymphs around her never spoke of those things, they also feared her mothers anger. But they had told her of kissing, oral sex and of course sex it self. They even told her about masturbation! Only because they came to agree that one should not be shy with their own body. And they thought she deserved a way to rebel against her mother.
Hestia smiled gentle at the goddess, "I truly don't have that desire. That is why I started the Maidenhood, with Zeus blessing of course." "What if I have desires?" Persephone brought her knees close to her as she spoke, not daring to look at Lady Hestia. She moved her arms to engulf the younger goddess closer to her. "You do not have to join if you do not want to. I know your mother speaks for you most times. But it is time you told her what Persephone wants. But first you must find out exactly what you want. I believe you have some time. And this way we get to spend a bit more time together. I enjoy our talks." She was not able to hold back the tears, or the sob that left her throat. Nodding her head in agreement. She was truly grateful to have met Lady Hestia. "Come let us go to my home, you can have some water to calm your self. But in the mean time, you can tell me everything you know of the underworld thus far." Persephone perked up at the idea, "wait my lady what of todays lesson?" Hestia laughed kindly at Persephone as she pulled the younger goddess to her feet. "And who is to say this is not a lesson?" Persephone truly felt blessed by the fates. She truly is kind as they say.
