The Furious Wolf
Disclaimer: I do not own Halo or Fast and Furious in any way, shape or form, they belong to their respective owners.
Grudgematch: I hope this chapter doesn't disappoint and was worth the wait.
Slim A Lou Prime: I guess you'll see this chapter :)
Hunter 139: Like you said, unlike with the previous version Six and Dot would have had no idea about the Ark since Forerunners only became common knowledge, at least for people in the UNSC, towards the end of the war. But as it stands right now it is probably going to a Fracture Universe/timeline, one created by their own volition.
Dead344156: Appreciated.
Jestalnaker94000: Cheers man. And I've never thought about doing a Halo x Grand Turismo crossover but have thought about attempting a Halo x GTA crossover, either San Andreas or GTA V, the only problem is that Six would be against the main protagonists and ultimately break the main story since he'd kill the MC'S.
ShashankBhatt: I'm glad.
Sniperbro1998: To be honest...I haven't really decided yet. Since he is wearing a Mark VII instead of his old Mark V [B] variant I'm not sure if it will look right on his armour. And I know what you're thinking that we can't actually see his armour, but I'm picturing what Six looks like in my head and a large red pauldron on the Mark VII just doesn't look like it'll fit.
Kamikage86: It looks like John Wick's home from...well, John Wick.
Azai Jin: Then I really hope that you'll enjoy this chapter since there are quite a few Six x Mia moments.
Statess: No, there is no Noble Industries...at least not yet. But who can say what will happen in the five-year time skip between the first Fast and Furious movie to the fourth?
War Sage: Glad you liked it and writing for Six and Letty was fun much how I enjoy writing dialogue between Six and Rosa in my Halo x Brooklyn 99 crossover, the two...or four should I say just insulting/playing off one another. And agreed, Six isn't the sort of person to care about flashy items and buying the latest fashion hence him having rather basic clothes rather than wearing anything fancy.
Guest: Appreciate the kind words, man.
Anonymous: Then hopefully you'll like the scenes with Six and Mia in this chapter :)
Shugokage: Cheers, man.
Darth Revan1998: Will do.
The Disquieting One: Eventually Six will encounter the Shaw's, sure.
Chapter 10.
For a second time within twenty-four hours, Six found himself back in Kensington Road after he had been ambushed in his own home practically forced to attend a social event and spend time with people, something that he was certain that Dot was delighted about. Driving around the side of the building and up the driveway that ran up beside the house, he pulled up and parked in front of the garage.
"Home sweet home," Mai announced as the muscle car came to a stop and Jericho switched the engine off.
'Hmmm."
"Oh, don't be such a grouch," Mia rolled her eyes playfully at him. "Besides, I'm sure it won't be half as bad as you imagine...and who knows, you might even enjoy yourself."
"With such winning company, how could I not?"
"I'm going to take that as a compliment." Mia smiled coquettishly, her eyes dancing mischievously as she looked up at him. Removing her seatbelt, she opened the door and climbed out of the Pontiac, an action that Jericho copied as he closed the door and looked over to the small garden off at the side. "It might not as impressive as yours," Mia remarked noticing where he was looking. "But we make do."
"Well, you two lovebirds have fun! We'll see you in a bit!" Letty called out to them drawing their attention. Turning around, they both saw the Nissan beginning to pull away.
"Wait, where are you going?!" Mia called out them making the Nissan stop.
"Times cracking on and we still need to get all the shit yet," Letty answered leaning out of the window.
"And what about the house? You said that you were going help me sort it out."
"I didn't say a damn thing," Letty informed her as she looked over her dark sunglasses. "And what do you need us for when you've got Scarface over there to help you out?" She asked rhetorically. "Have fun," she said pushing her glasses up and pulled away leaving Mia and Jericho alone on the driveaway.
"So much for helping me out," Mia grumbled as she watched the Nissan pulling away, although she couldn't say she was all that surprised. "Allow me to give you the grand tour," She quipped walking across the garden and motioned for Jericho to follow her. Walking up the steps, she suddenly stopped and turned to face him. "Just for the record, I would like to point out that we don't usually live like slobs."
"Usually?"
"As in ever," She insisted as she turned around and unlocked the backdoor. "I wouldn't want you getting the wrong idea about us is all."
"Little late for that," Six muttered dryly and grunted when he was elbowed softly in the stomach by the smirking Mia.
Opening the door and stepping into the kitchen, Mia left the door open to get some air into the house and smiled in amusement as she watched as Jericho ducked and twisted his large frame to squeeze through the door. "It might not be quite as grandiose as your own..."
"Says who?" Six interrupted as he looked around the kitchen to a couple of black bags on the floor and upon closer inspection, he saw that it was filled with empty bottles and containers, and sitting atop the table was an old cloth and cleaning utensils; clearly somebody, presumably Mia, had been in the middle of cleaning before heading to his.
Glancing over at the front room that could be seen through the large doorway, Six frowned when he saw the state of the room. Empty bottles and containers covered the floor as well as the units greatly resembling a landfill; and while it was true that it wasn't his house that had been trashed by the partygoers, he felt that there was a certain etiquette that was imperative when attending social events...
"You were popular," Six commented reflecting on their conversation the night before as he entered the front room and looked around, frowning at the sorry state it was in.
"Tell me about," Mia sighed running her fingers through her thick brown hair and watched as Jericho silently moved around the side of the room, somehow not kicking any of the empty bottles or cans that had just been dumped on the floor. "Again, let me make it clear that you wouldn't usually find our house like this."
"Aren't we defensive."
"Noooo," Mia droned out, smiling as she watched him from afar. "Like I told you, I don't want you to get the wrong idea about us is all."
"My opinion is of no consequence," Six stated as he stopped in front of the chest of draws that had a large box with dials and speakers next to it which he believed was called a stereo, an archaic piece of technology that played music but died out sometime during the early twenty-first century, however it the was picture that rested in front of it that drew his attention.
Carefully picking it not wanting to damage either the photo or the frame it was inside. Examine it, he saw a young man that had short black hair that was slightly curly, tanned skin and stern facial features. Next to him was a woman that could have been mistaken for Mia, long brown hair that went down to her back, soft features, and a happy smile, however the biggest contrast between the two was that the woman in the picture had blue eyes whereas her daughter had clearly inherited her father's dark eyes.
Standing in front of the two were three children, two of which he recognised. The first and slightly taller of the two boys who even with a glance knew it was Dom had dark hair that was cut short, greatly differing from his older self. Next was a boy that looked a little younger but barely with brown hair and blue eyes; and finally, was a much younger Mia who had her hair pulled into a tight ponytail and smiling wildly at whomever was taking the photo revealing her braces.
"Happier times," Six heard Mia commented from beside him. Glancing at her, Six saw Mia looking at the picture with sad eyes that made him frown…at least internally.
"You look like your mother."
"You think?" She asked gently, flattered at the compliment and more than happy to be compared to her mother.
"Hmmm," Six confirmed with a nod as he gently placed the picture back where he had found it.
"You know, I think that might have been the nicest thing you've ever said to me," She teased smiling playfully at him. "Who would have thought that the big bad Jericho had a soft side?"
"Well, don't tell anyone."
"Oh, don't worry," Mia smirked back looking up at him. "It'll be our little secret." She added playfully and was a bit disappointed when she didn't even get so much as a grunt from him. "What were yours like?" She asked after a moment of silence. "Your parents, I mean?"
Six said nothing, contemplating the question for a moment. While he thought about them often it had been nearly twenty years since he had spoken about them.
"Sorry," Mia apologised realizing that she had crossed the line. "You don't..."
"They were good people," Six finally answered after a moment. "Their son? Not so much."
"I think you're being a little hard on yourself," Mia told him gently placing a delicate hand on his arm. "I'm sure they'd be proud of you."
"I've done many things, Mia." He didn't know why he was telling her this, but he continued, nevertheless. "Very few of them good."
"Sounds like you regret them."
"Where do you want me to start?" He asked making the brunette frown but decided not to press it, they had only known each for a day after all; that and it was clear that they had breached a rather sensitive subject considering how quickly Jericho was trying to
"Letty was just having you on," Mia told him before suddenly remembering that she was still holding his arm and let him go. "You can just sit down..." She trailed off when she saw the state of the couch and mentally sighed. "Somewhere," she continued putting emphasis on somewhere "while I clean the house."
"Might as well do something while I'm held captive." Six droned looking around the room unaware of the smile plastered across Mia's face as she stared at him. "Where are your cleaning utensils?"
"By cleaning utensils do you mean where are the trash-bags?" Mia teased resting a hand on her hip, and when he nodded, she continued. "And you really don't need to help if you don't want to..." she tried to say only to be cut off.
"Wouldn't have offered if I didn't want too," Six told her before gesturing out with his arm. "Lead the way."
"Yes, sir!" Mia returned a playful salute as she turned and headed back into the kitchen, followed by Six before the two got to work on cleaning the house for the barbeque; again, something that the Spartan was forced to attend against his will.
After cleaning the house from top to bottom and making it seem like the party had never happened, Six emptied the cans into the recycling bin and the trash bags into the household garbage can. Closing the lid, he walked back up the steps and headed back into the Toretto household.
Stepping through the front door, the sound of chopping reverberated throughout the house as he made his way through the living room and entering the kitchen, he found Mia with her back turned to him and chopping up the salad for the barbeque.
"Need help?"
"You clean and offer to help in the kitchen?" Mia laughed playfully. "And here was me thinking your kind didn't exist anymore."
"A man out of time, I guess."
"Is that right?" She smirked playing along him. "Well, welcome to the twenty-first century."
"Thanks," Six remarked thinly.
"No problem," Mia chirped happily, glad to be able to sass him for once. "And no, you've already done enough." She told him seriously. "You're meant to be enjoying yourself rather than picking up after everyone else."
"Where do you need me?" Six pretended not to hear Mia as he stopped next to her.
"You're not gonna take no for an answer, are you?" The brunette asked dully despite already knowing the answer as he stared at her. "Can I trust you enough to slice some tomatoes?"
"I think I can handle it," Six told her as Mia handed him a knife, then grabbed another chopping board and laid it in front of him. Gripping the handle to get a feel for the knife, he grabbed a tomato and sliced into it only to crush it under the blade.
"Oh, yeah, you definitely handled it," She teased sending him a smug look. "Now step aside Hercules and watch carefully." She said grabbing another tomato. "Now the key is not to crush it," Mia couldn't help but take another dig earning a dry look from Jericho, one she took great satisfaction in. "But rather let the knife do the work," She continued slicing through the vegetable.
"Now would you like to try again?" Mia teased then smirked as Jericho snatched a tomato from the side. "Temper, temper," she chided taking pleasure in watching his stern visage beginning to crack away.
Ignoring the jibe, Six pressed the knife into the tomato and gently ran the knife through it making the perfect slice. "Well done," Mia clapped sarcastically praising him getting a dull look from him. "Never doubted you for a second."
"Hmmm,"
"Hmmm," Mia copied playfully. "Not so funny when it's on the other foot now, is it?"
"Other foot?"
"Never mind." She sighed rolling her eyes. Although, she did find it curious how common phrases eluded him, such as having his cherry popped, Digs, and the other foot. "Did you get up to anything last night?" Mia asked deciding to change the subject.
"Took out the trash."
"Oooh, very exciting." Mia teased as she started slicing through the baby potatoes for the potato salad and tossed them into a bowl. "Of course, you could have done that after the party." She pointed out looking at Jericho to see that he was slicing up the tomato's now that he had gotten the hand of it. "I think that you would have enjoyed yourself if you had, everyone else did."
"I'm aware," Six voiced as he sliced through the final tomato then brought up the knife to wipe the juice off on his sleeve, alas before he could...
"Don't use your shirt!" Mia chastised like an overbearing mother. "Honestly," She added shaking her head.
"What else would I use?"
"Well not your shirt," Mia stated as she took the knife from him and walked over to the sink to clean it off. She was tempted to ask where he was raised by opted against it considering that she knew that Jericho spent his childhood in an orphanage before running away. "Here," she said handing him the knife after wiping it down with a sheet of paper towel. "And could you finish slicing these potatoes for me?"
"Yes, Ma'am," Six nodded making her smirk as he began cutting up the potatoes like Mia had and tossed them into the bowl.
Glancing over his shoulder, he watched as Mia placed a hand on the counter on the other side of the room and reached up and tried to grab the glass dishes that were stored atop the cupboard. Placing the knife down on the chopping board, Six walked up behind her and to make her job a little easier gave her a helping hand.
Mia sucked in a sharp breath as she felt Jericho's large, powerful hands grab her sides making her cheeks heats up before she was lifted into the air. "How's that?" She heard him ask without so much as a strain in his voice. Not trusting her voice, she grabbed the dishes from the top of the cupboard and once she had them, she felt herself being lowered gently back onto the ground.
"Thanks," Mia said a little disappointed when Jericho let go of her, really liking how his large hands felt on her. Sadly, before she could think or do anything else the front door swung open and plastic bags rustled throughout the house.
"We're back!" Letty's voice echoed through the house as she made her way through the living and looked around inspecting everything that Mia and Jericho had done in their absence. "Place is looking good."
"Yeah, no thanks to you." Mia shot back as the others entered the house.
"Look who we found," Dom called out as he walked into the kitchen carrying two crates of Corona as Leon, Jesse, and Brian came walking in behind him.
"Hey, Brian." Mia smiled at the blonde street racer as he entered before noticing something. "Where's Vince?"
"V, scarpered the second he saw the Buster," Leon answered getting an annoyed look from said buster. "Shame, I wouldn't have minded seeing the rematch between him and the big guy." He chuckled chewing his toothpick. "How's it going, man."
"Fine," Six greeted back, a little surprised that there was no bad blood between them considering the altercation between himself and Vince.
"Please, you just want a chance to win your money and dignity back." Letty stated pulling out the meat from the bags revealing chicken legs.
"I plead the fifth."
"That means yes," Leon promptly flipped his best friend off. "Hey, Jericho."
"Jesse."
"I... didn't tell you my name," Jesse faltered slightly. "In fact, I don't think we've spoken." He added suddenly becoming uneasy as Jericho stared at him.
Six said nothing as he observed Jesse making him squirm with just a look. "Neither did I." He said calmly as Jesse started rubbing the back of his hands nervous and looked around the room for support from the others.
"Dom must have told me," Jesse offered weakly and did his best not to be intimidated by Jericho's blank look.
"Hmmm."
"You're not funny," Mia slapped Six's arm for his poor attempt at humour. "Just ignore him Jess, he's just messing with you." She told Jesse getting a relived look from him as he released a breath, he didn't knew he was holding.
"Oh, right, good one," Jesse chuckled nervously. "I didn't mean to..."
"You didn't."
"How'd you know anyway?" Leon asked the obvious question.
"How'd you think?" Letty asked sarcastically. "Mia ran her mouth to lover boy when they were alone last night."
"That's only partly true," Mia confessed ignoring the lover boy comment which Jericho also didn't react to either.
"True," Dom concurred as he opened the crate of Corona. "Course, he already knows everything about us anything...come to think of it, you never told us how you knew that Jesse brought up your profile in the first place." He remarked looking over to where Jericho was standing.
"Wish he wouldn't keep throwing me under the bus," Jesse muttered getting a chuckle from Leon.
"Better you than me." Leon replied chewing his toothpick as he listened to the conversation.
"I know,"
"Ah, c'mon man, we all wanna know."
Everyone listened in, none more than Brian who still held strong in his belief that Jericho was The Ghost due to the fact that he had left the Army around the same time that the vigilante had come to Los Angeles; and despite what Tanner thought there was no way that it was a mere coincidence. "Get used to disappointment, Leticia."
"God, I fuckin' hate you." Letty grumbled making the others laugh.
"And to think Jericho somehow beat Dom even while being weighed down by those brass balls of his," Leon commented getting a nod from Jesse, meanwhile Letty glared at Jericho who looked completely unfazed before he turned his attention to Brian.
"Did they kidnap you too?" Six asked getting a smirk from the blonde street racer as Mia rolled her eyes and shook her head at him.
"Nah, man." Brian responded with a chuckle. "And just to let you know I'm currently looking for a car to give you after mine...well, sort of blew up." He confessed gaining the Spartans attention.
"Blew up?"
"It's a long story," Brian told him running his fingers through his hair. "But the short of it is that I'm currently down a car," He sighed then looked over to Dom. "Reckon I should try billing Johnny the bill?"
"Good luck with that," Dom smirked. "But enough about Johnny, you want a drink?" He asked getting a nod from Brian and pulled a bottle out, removed the cap and handed it to him. "Reach, Corona?"
"Never had one..."
"Oh, well know it makes sense why you're such a fuckin' stiff," Letty voiced as Six looked at her. "You've never had the chance to taste the nectar of the Gods, well today is your lucky day." She said grabbing a bottle before Dom could and tossed it too him.
"Isn't a stiff a corpse?" Six asked grabbing the bottle that was chucked at him.
"Did I stutter?"
"I don't think so, Leticia." He answered making Letty click her tongue in annoyance before looking down at the bottle to see that the lid was still on and peeled it off. Looking up, he saw everyone looking at him.
"You just peeled a fricking lid off," Jesse pointed out incredulously as everyone stared at Jericho.
"So I did," Six replied as he took a sniff of the drink and grimaced slightly, something that didn't go unnoticed by either Dom or Letty.
"What?"
"Should it smell like that?"
"What, give me that." Letty aggressively snatched the bottle and brought it up to her nose. "It smells fine," she tutted handing Jericho back the bottle.
"Or maybe he's doesn't want to drink it because he knows he can't handle his drink?" Leon suggested as the others started playing along.
"It would certainly explain why he left so quickly last night," Mia smiled as sweet as sin, greatly enjoying having fun at his expense. "Didn't want to embarrass himself in front of alllllll those people." She practically sung out.
"Nothing wrong with being a lightweight," Dom chuckled. "I mean, we can't all be the best at everything." He grinned as he popped open his own beer and took a swig.
"I suppose not."
"You know, I think you've got a point, Leon. I think he is scared," Letty taunted hoping to get a reaction out of him. " Is big bad soldier-boy worried he's gonna make an ass of himself if he gets a little tipsy?"
"I guess so," He was almost tempted to tell them that it was impossible for him to get drunk let alone tipsy, but he decided that what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them...that and he wanted to keep a few secrets from them.
Letty growled, pissed that her words had no effect on him. "Stop being a little bitch and just drink it!"
While he didn't express it, it did amuse him how easy it was to rile her up. Without saying a word, Six brought the bottle to his lips and took a drink while keeping his gaze on Leticia who was watching him like a hawk.
"Well?" Letty snapped irritably.
"I've had better."
"That's what she said," Leon chuckled before stopping when he realized what he said. "...wait," Everyone laughed barring Six, and none harder than Jesse. "Shut up."
"By the way, I think you've made an enemy for life," Mia whispered getting on her tiptoes and into Jericho's ear, her warm breath brushing across his pale skin before walking back over to the counter to pick up where she left off.
"Mia, the chicken is drying out!" Dom called into the house as he stood in front of the grill with Letty and gently brushed the chicken with BBQ sauce while Leon played hoop with Jesse in front of the garage.
"All right, already!" Mia cried out walking out of the house carrying a bowl of salad followed by Brian who was holding several bottles of beers through his fingers and Jericho who carried a plate of cornbread over to the table that had been set up earlier and placed the food and drink on the table just as Dom, Letty, Leon, and Jesse walked over, the former holding a the tray of chicken and placed it in the centre.
Once all the food and drink had been brought out everyone took their seats with Six taking the chair at the end of the table opposite Dom, the old wooden seat creaking as he sat making everyone look at him. "Christ man, how much do you weigh?"
"239 lbs."
"You fat fuck." The Latina joked making the others laugh just as Jesse leaned in and grabbed a piece of chicken only to be stopped by Dom.
"Ah!" Jesse stopped dead in his tracks and stared at Dom like a deer staring into the headlights. "Since you were the first to reach in and grab the chicken, you say grace." Dom told him as he placed his hands together.
While it was true that he despised anything to do with religion, his past dealings with the Covenant and their gods souring his opinion on religion in general and as well as being an atheist, Six saw no reason to be rude and belittle their beliefs, placed his hands together and closed his eyes.
"Um, dear heavenly..." Jesse paused as he tried to think of the correct word.
"Spirit," Leon covered for him earning a grateful look from Jesse.
"Spirit. Thank you. Dear heavenly spirit, thank you for providing us with a direct port nitrous injection, four core intercooler and ball-bearing turbos, and titanium valve springs. Thank you." Jesse prayed getting a round of applause from the others.
With the prayer open, Six opened his eyes and found himself reunited with his family. Carter, Kat, Jun, Emile, and Jorge all sitting around the table. A weight suddenly lifted off his shoulders and for a moment he felt some semblance of peace.
"Well, look who finally decided to join us," Jun chuckled cheerful as ever. "And here was me thinking that you'd forgotten about us."
"Wish I could," A sardonic voice snarked.
"Love you too, Kat."
"Ugh!" Kat groaned at the open affection. "I hate you people."
"Stop hogging the food you fat fuck," Emile growled at Jorge who narrowed his hazel eyes at him. "The rest of us want to eat too."
"You want it? Come get it." Jorge taunted getting a bloodthirsty grin from the wraith of Noble Team.
"Oh-ho, my fuckin' pleasure!"
"Aren't you gonna stop them, Commander?"
"I hadn't planned on it, Jun." Carter stated thoroughly uninterested. "Besides, they've earned a little R&R."
"Ugh, I don't know why they don't just kiss and get it over with."
"Fuck you, Kat!/Catherine," Emile snapped while Jorge chided making her laugh and just for a moment everything was right in the world. Alas, like with all good things...nothing lasted forever. Blinking, he watched as his family disappeared and were replaced with people that he didn't care about to see mere seconds had passed while he had been visited by the ghosts of his past.
"So, where did you learn how to drive like that anyway?" Dom asked looking over at Jericho who looked back. "Mia was saying that you pulled off some pretty good manoeuvres to get away from the cops."
"Did she?" Six asked making Mia colour as she was once again put on the spot because of her brother.
"I'm more interested in what you've got underneath that hood," Letty told him. "We all saw how that Challenger of yours took off from the starting line, and if what Mia said was true and you were hitting over two-hundred miles per hour on the freeway and she's not just blowing smoke up your ass."
"I guess we'll never know, Leticia." Six answered as the others chuckled, as for Letty she settled for glaring at him.
"I swear to god I'm gonna ram them teeth down your throat one day," the hot-tempered Latina threatened as she bit into her chicken. "Can you reach?" She almost choked on her food not expecting such a retort from him of all people, nor did anyone else considering their reactions. "Is that challenge, Scar-face?"
"If you like."
"Back to what Dom was saying," Mia said drawing the conversation back to her. "Where did you learn to drive like that?"
"Here and there."
"Do you think you could give us one straight answer?" Mia asked playfully. "Or do you just like being as mysterious as possible?"
"Worked for me so far."
"Not really," Letty snorted, clearly disagreeing. "We know everything little thing about you...thanks to our boy," she said nodding at Jesse who looked a little embarrassed at all the attention.
"Hmmm."
"Fuck you Hmmming about?"
"Nothing," Six assured her grabbing a piece of cornbread. "I'm sure you're right." He said taking a slow bite and savouring the taste as he looked back at everyone confusing them as Dom and the others glanced at each other.
Brian stared at Jericho for a second and decided to try and learn more about him. "So, where'd you get the scars, man?" He asked Jericho continued chewing before finally answering.
"You know where." The undercover cop felt a chill run up his spine as Jericho's cold blue eyes stared back and started thinking that he had somehow made him out, especially when everyone else looked at him. "Oh, that's right. You're not with them...my mistake."
"No worries, man." Brian waved off, although inwardly he sighed in relief that he somehow managed to dodge that bullet...albeit, there was a part of him that could have sworn that Jericho was messing with him and in fact knew that he was an undercover cop; he would have to keep an eye on him...more so than he already planned too.
Before anything else could be said, the sound of footsteps was heard coming up along the side of the house before Vince appeared sporting large, dark bruises across his face that looked extremely painful. "Well, well, well, look who it is?" Leon grinned as everyone looked at him. "I thought you weren't coming?"
Vince looked uneasy as he glanced at Jericho before looking back at Leon and shrugged. "I gotta eat, ya know."
"No shit, you're always hungry." Letty said looking over at him.
Dom was surprisingly silent on the matter as he glanced between Vince, Brian, and Jericho before finally nodding. "Alright, sit your ass down." He told him bluntly, privately wondering if he was going to regret it.
Vince did his best to smile as he kissed the top of his brothers' head and walked around the table. "How you doing, Mia?" He asked getting a disgruntled look from the blonde as he sat down next to Jericho and opposite Brian.
A tense atmosphere lingered as Dom, Letty, Leon, Jesse, and Mia watched the three men at the end and grew nervous that Vince would start something with either Brian or Jericho. Deciding to take initiative and prevent another fight from breaking out, Dom spoke up. "You just get back from the hospital?" He asked as Vince eyeballed Brian as he drunk his beer.
"Yeah," Vince nodded tearing his eyes away.
"How's your mother doing?"
"They're giving her shit for the pain."
"What're they giving her?" Mia asked as everyone listened in.
"Something that I can't pronounce."
"Well, let's make sure we put a plate of food together, save something for her and tell her that we all said hello," Dom said earning a grateful look from Vince.
"She'd appreciate that," Vince told him before taking a swig of his bottle and returned to eyeballing Brian and overlooking Jericho. Speaking of, as he watched the two glaring at each other he couldn't help but be reminded of Jorge and Emile only it was much more docile; he couldn't recall Brian and Vince trying to off each other...although in the big guy's defence, it was usually the latter that started it...of course the day was still young.
As night fell and the barbeque came to an end, Six walked into the kitchen to see Mia washing the dirty plates and utensils on her own...again. While it wasn't his place to comment, it seemed inequitable to leave her to do all the work. "Need help?"
"No, I'm good. You can go and join the others on the PlayStation, " Mia politely turned down the offer. "I've still got a shit ton to do anyway," She told him, then for a second time that day she felt Jericho place his hands on her sides before she was lifted off the ground making her smile as she was placed over to the side like a misbehaving child.
"You've done enough," Six countered as he placed his hands into the soapy water and started cleaning the dishes.
"Such a gentlemen."
"I aim to please," He replied as he placed one of the plates on the metal rack to allow the soapsuds to roll off.
"So, did you enjoy today?" Mia asked as she grabbed a tea towel and stood next to him. "Or was it as terrible as you imagined?" She teased looking up at Jericho who seemed to be contemplating the question as he looked off into the garden.
"The food was satisfactory,"
"Oh, yeah?" Mia grinned as she listened to him critiquing everything.
"Hmmm," Six confirmed with a small nod. "The hostess should work on her attitude, though." He added only to receive a playful nudge from Mia.
"You know, you're nearly as funny as you think you are." She laughed melodiously. "But I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself," once again the two stood in silence as they worked on cleaning and drying everything they used during the day. "I don't mean to pry..."
"That isn't true," Six wholeheartedly disagreed earning a mock glower from the brunette.
"But it must be lonely living in that big house all alone," Mia continued acting as if she hadn't been interrupted by him. "The silence would probably drive me nuts." She confessed grabbing another plate and began drying it off.
"I'm used to it."
"The silence or being alone?"
"Both."
"No offense, but that sounds like a shitty way to live." Mia told him bluntly.
"It's not for everyone," He agreed, however before anything else could be said they both heard someone staggering into the kitchen and looked over their shoulders, at least Six did, Mia looked past him to see Vince stumbling into the room knocking several things over in the process making Mia sigh.
"You okay, V?"
"Fine," His speech was slurred, and he was all smiles as he stumbled over to them then wrapped his arm around Jericho much to Mia's amusement. "Jericho, Jericho, Jericho, Jericho," He patted his chest multiple times trying to get his attention...even if Six was already looking at by the time he mentioned his name the first time. "I just want to say I'm sorry, man. I was an asshole…."
"It's fine," Six tried to say only to be cut off by Vince who was having none of it in his drunken state.
"Please, Jericho...let me finish," Vince silenced him by bringing his hand up; meanwhile Mia stood off at the side and fought back the urge to smile as she watched the two. "What was I saying again?"
"I think you were apologising."
"Oh, Mia!" Vince sounded surprised as he turned his head to look at her. "When did you get here?" He asked drunkenly, his head rocking back and forth the entire time. "God, she's hot." He said out loud making the brunette sigh as she once again forced to listen to his inner thoughts about her. "Our children will be beautiful."
"I wasn't aware she was with child," Six confessed earning a dull look from the pregnant woman.
"Hey, V?"
"Hmmm?"
"Why don't you go and wait in the front room, and I'll bring you out some popcorn in a minute?" Mia offered in a tone as sweet and honey, and once that certainly was effective on Vince who readily nodded.
"Sure thing, Mia," The drunk street racer giggled intoxicated before moving away from Jericho and leaned down to try and steal a kiss only to be intercepted as she skilfully moved around him while simultaneously turning him around and giving him a shove towards the door.
Once Vince was out of the kitchen, Mia sighed in relief and massaged her temple feeling a headache beginning to come on at once again having to deal with a drunk Vince who was somehow even more direct in his flirtations, if you could call it flirting. "Sorry about that," She apologised as he opened the cupboard and pulled out brown packet.
"For what?"
"For Vince being...well, Vince." She said opening the microwave and placed the packet inside then shut the door. Typing in a few commands, she turned the microwaved on and turned back to see Jericho drying his hands. "So, what were we talking about again?"
"I believe that you were criticizing my life," Six answered candidly making her laugh.
"I was making an observation," Mia smiled at him as he looked back at her. The two said nothing as they seemingly listened to the microwave, although she nibbled her lip and decided to continue the conversation. "Have you always lived alone?"
"This an interrogation?" He asked folding his arms over his chest and stared at her.
"A conversation," Mia smirked at him. "And somebody sounds a little defensive."
"Not at all," Six disagreed eyeing the young woman who strolled over and stood next to him, to the extent that she was practically brushing up against him.
"Doesn't look like it to me."
"Looks can be deceiving."
"Is that so?" Mia whispered alluringly as she looked up at him.
"Hmmm."
"How so?"
Leaning down, Six whispered into her ear sending a shiver that pulsated throughout her entire body. "Why ruin the mystery?" The microwave went off letting them both know it was done. "Your popcorn is ready."
Mia's cheeks darkened as she suddenly felt flustered by nothing more than a few empty words; of course, the worst part was that Jericho didn't even seem like he was trying to charm her and yet he was driving her crazy regardless...two could play at that game. Quickly walking away and grabbing a bowl, she opened the microwave. Tearing open the bag, she poured the popcorn into the bowel before deciding to tease him a little bit.
"Coming?" She purred seductively glancing over her shoulder before leaving and heading into the living room to re-join the others.
Watching Mia leave, there was something different about the way she looked and spoke that he couldn't quiet put his finger on. Shrugging seeing as how it had no impact on his current situation, that being spending time with civilians after being ambushed in his own home, he followed Mia into the living room to watch whatever motion-picture they had picked.
While Six was enjoying himself at the Toretto's, Auntie Dot materialized above the holo-pedestal and stared at the holographic screens after monitoring crimes all across the globe. While she disagreed with her partners vendetta against crime mostly because of the ramifications it could have on the future if they had been transported back to the twenty-first century, she knew that it was his way of coping.
And while she knew that Dom and his crew were behind the hijackings, she hoped that spending time with people once again would slowly revert Six back to how he had been prior to the Fall of Reach.
If you were to take the man that served with Noble Team and the man that had walked out of the hell that Reach had been turned into, it was like staring at two complete different individual, which for all extents and purposes they were. Noble Six and Reaper One were opposites of one another.
And regardless of what he said, Noble Teams deaths had hurt him...and while he might have disliked her interference, if it meant helping her friends mental state, she would do whatever it took to keep the Toretto's and their associates in his life.
Speaking of which...
Bringing up her hand, Dot swiped away the holo-screens until only one remained and began getting to work on promoting Toretto's Market & Cafe by creating them a website to draw in the crowds...needless to say, she would probably need to convince Six to help restore the building considering the poor condition it was currently in, as well as persuading Dom and Mia too.
Of course, with a little bit of emotional manipulation and commenting how the store was one of the few connections they had to their late father and mother, and they were just letting it go downhill, she believed was the correct human maxim, it shouldn't be difficult.
And cut! Well, here is the next chapter of The Furious Wolf. I hope you all enjoyed it, as well as the scenes between Six and Mia. But most importantly, I have finally caught up and surpassed where I was in my original story, so kudos to me!
Now granted, nothing happened in the grand scheme of things but at least the barbeque is out of the way.
