Chris crossed his arms in frustration, feeling conflicted, as he watched what was left of Albert Wesker's doppelganger get carried away by a team of scientists- who he'd been assured by his higher ups- were, 'the good guys...'

He had wanted the corpse incinerated, had requested it.

But was denied.

He really should have let Claire blast the place sky high after all...

The BSAA had arrived with reinforcements in less than a day, and now Wesker's hidden lab was swarming with personnel from every division who dealt daily, with the threat from B.O.W's. His allies were finally here. So why did Chris feel so uneasy?

Perhaps it was Janet's words, as they echoed in the back of his mind

My employer has eyes and ears everywhere within your organisations...

Chris was brought out of his brooding thoughts, when one of his superiors came adjacent, with a well dressed woman by his side

"Redfield, this is DSO agent Miss Tara Thornheart. She has requested a full report on the whereabouts of agent Kennedy."

Chris sighed

"Forgive me, Sir. But haven't I've shown you the footage already?"

"That you have, son. But the DSO still needs confirmation" the older man more or less barked. Chris pushed himself away from the wall, and limped ahead

"Follow me then, Miss Thornheart"

Chris took the woman to the control room, and loaded up the CCTV records. The monitor crackled to life, and the woman adjusted her glasses as she watched the footage, leaning closer to the screen when she witnessed Wesker unloading his clip into Leon's chest, and throwing him viciously off screen. The woman straightened as the footage suddenly became white noise

"Like I've said a million times today..." Chris stated "Leon's dead"

The woman side eyed the BSAA agent

"What happened to his body?" she asked

Jeez, these guys...

"He landed in the pit, so if the bullets didn't kill him, then the Zombies certainly did!" Chris scowled

The woman looked at the screens, and inhaled deeply

"Forgive me, Mr. Redfield. I understand he was a friend. My condolences.." The woman turned away, and headed for the exit of the control room

"Wait" Chris called, and she turned back " you're gonna go back and let em know Leon was a good guy, right. Clear his name?"

"Mr. Redfield. I understand that you are upset at the loss of your friend, but just because he assisted you with your problem, it doesn't mean he was innocent of dealing with terrorist organisations"

Are you fucking kidding me...

"Guess it doesn't matter, anymore" Chris voiced instead, and the woman left him with his angry thoughts.

Chris made his way up to the large hotel room that had cost him a small fortune. He could have had the BSAA cover the cost, but then questions would arise as to why three names where put down, instead of two. Leon was going to have to lay low for a while to maintain his ruse.

As Chris made his way towards the elevator, he realised that he still didn't know who had edited the footage in Leon's favour, or why a file, containing everything they needed to know about the serum, and more importantly for Leon- the after effects on the body- was conveniently left in a place where they wouldn't miss it. There was another player involved, and that bugged the hell out of him.

There were pages and pages of notes, but the sections the trio had found most interesting, were the human trials. Apparently the serum had been a work in progress for many years, and had been developed by extracting blood samples from the original, Albert Wesker. The serum would grant the subject extra strength, speed, and stamina...along with the ability to heal, but the human body would have to 'adapt' to the serum over time. The trial notes showed that the body would quickly reject the serum in the first few stages, or -as some subjects had shown- reject the serum outright.

Claire had almost sighed aloud after reading that section, truly realising how lucky Leon had been that he had been 'compatible'. Claire had thoroughly read through the side effects, still concerned for Leon, but the crippling pain he had experienced was a normal reaction after the first dose. Still, it had frightened Claire, and had given Leon's body an internal battering. It had taken a good few hours for his aching muscles to recover from the experience.

After reading on, Claire also discovered Wesker's downfall. He had indeed overdosed. The files clearly stated that pumping large amounts of the serum into a body that hadn't been slowly adapted, would end with muscle and internal organs expanding far too quickly, resulting in a horrific and painful death. Claire shuddered at how they may had come to know these results.

Chris finally entered the spacious hotel room, sighing in frustration at the pain in his leg. He still couldn't believe he'd forgiven the prissy haired asshole for shooting him, then he called out for the pair.

After receiving no response he made his way towards the bathroom, following the sound of a running shower.

"Claire?" he knocked loudly. Chris heard the shower suddenly shut off

"Um...one minute..." he heard his sister's voice call through the door. Chris stepped away from the door, looking around for Leon, when Claire rushed out from the bathroom and shut the door hastily behind her. She looked somewhat flustered as she adjusted the damp towel wrapped around her hair

"Where's Le-" Chris started, then frowned at Claire when she leaned back against the bathroom door and bit her bottom lip

"Wait..." Chris groaned in realisation, as Claire's cheeks started to colour "is he? IN THERE!?"

Chris could hear a pin drop at the silence and then a voice carried through the door

"Uhhh, no?" Leon called back, and Claire brought a hand to her mouth, trying to hide her smirk.

"Sorry, Chris" Claire giggled "we thought you'd be gone longer..."

Chris turned around and shook his head. He smiled to himself then, realising this might be the last time he could tease his sister for a while. Claire had decided she was going to join Leon, and hide out in Europe for the next few months

"I'm heading to the bar for a drink. When you lovebirds have finished bumping uglies, then you're free to join me..."

"CHRIS!!!" Claire whined, as her irritating grin turned into embarrassment.

Chris laughed aloud, relishing the fact that he'd managed to horrify her back, with his perfect choice of words.
