Chapter 2
Greetings readers! I hope that you enjoyed the previous chapter!
HughJasz: I wouldn't say Percy is a villain in this story, while he definitely isn't a hero, he's someone I would say is a purely gray and neutral character. And someone who serves himself first and foremost. This sort of portrayal gives me a lot of freedom to maneuver. Thank you for your support!
I would like to thank StarlightSaviour for your continued support!
General Jackson: Yes, this story is a Percy X Diana fic. Thank you for your support!
Guest: Percy has a huge personal fortune that he's been given. And how he has this is something I'll explain soon. Iris has very good channels of information but the specifics such as plans of Boreas' palace are something extremely confidential. How Percy managed to gain access to it is also something I'll explain later on. The Percy of this story is someone who is obsessed about staying in the shadows. And he doesn't need to hire an assassin when he himself is the best one.

I would like to thank all the other guest reviewers for your continued support! I hope this story is just as enjoyable as my trilogy is!
Callum Runchman: I never write anything that's going to be abandoned. And the stories I do publish will not be abandoned. Just because my pace of updating has slowed with regards to Curtainfall and in general compared to how I used to update before doesn't mean I am not working on these stories. Yes, Percy's backstory will be getting some attention in future chapters in some detail. Thank you for your continued support!

Imasavageyouraca: There's not really a schedule which I follow since I tend to rewrite and edit quite a bit based on how I good I feel about it conveying what I want. Although I'm focusing a little more on the crossover right now, I am going to try to have at least one chapter of Curtainfall and the crossover out each month once this story settles in a little. Thank you for your support!

Percy found himself at the edge of Gotham harbour, watching with trepidation as Batman and Superman slugged it out in a desperate attempt to kill each other. It was no doubt a trap laid by Lex Luthor, he most probably had held someone valuable to Clark Kent hostage and was making him fight with Batman for their safety.
Percy briefly considered interfering with their fight, stopping this unnecessary slugfest and instead get them to focus their efforts on Luthor. But he ultimately decided against it. He had no intel on their fight. He didn't know how they were fighting, or what they were fighting with.
He also knew that Superman was stronger than him. Not by a ridiculous margin but enough to defeat him after an arduous fight. And if Batman had ascended to that level, he had no way of keeping them apart without being blown up himself. And that was something he really didn't want.
What he would do though, was kill Lex Luthor. That man was far too dangerous to be left alive. If he could pit the Man of Steel and the Bat of Gotham against each other so viciously, he was capable of much, much worse. And Percy didn't want to have to deal with his machinations.
Perhaps, killing Luthor would be enough to prevent Superman and Batman from killing each other. Perhaps it wouldn't. But Percy knew his first order of business would be to zoom out of this area as soon as he was done with Luthor. This place was getting far too dangerous for his liking.
As Percy made his way towards Luthor, whose presence he had tracked down to the security facility in Metropolis that was holding not only the remnants of the Kryptonian ship that had attacked Earth eighteen months ago, he also felt a shiver run down his spine when he sensed the presence of someone undeniably sinister.
Whoever it was, he or she had a presence that was so monstrously powerful that it made him question whether a Titan Lord had woken up at full might and had joined hands with Luthor. But he quickly dismissed that notion. That wasn't possible. First of, even if the Titans did get out of their eternal prison in Tartarus, they would have been weakened to such a large extent that it would take them decades to even reach their full power.
Adding to that, Percy would have most definitely found out by now if that were indeed true. There was no way the Olympians would be able to hide such information from his sources. That meant only thing. This threat was not from the mortal or divine worlds, it was an otherworldly threat. And he had an inkling that this was a threat from Krypton.
Percy was brought out of his thoughts when Superman zoomed above him and into the facility at breakneck speeds. A part of him was relieved. Thank Chaos common sense had prevailed between the two heroes and they had finally understood that Luthor was the ultimate enemy.
He didn't see Batman anywhere but he could only assume that the guardian of Gotham had gone to rescue the hostage that Luthor had used as a chip against Clark Kent. Percy then stopped a few dozen feet away from the gate of the facility.
He knew that Superman would not kill Lex Luthor. The Man of Steel was far too virtuous for that. And he also knew that there was no way he would let Percy kill Luthor in his presence. Superman would instead stupidly hand over Luthor to the authorities, after which the latter would receive an unbelievably light, farce of a punishment.
Percy sighed in irritation realising that he would have to spend more time here. He couldn't kill Luthor right now. He would have to wait until Luthor was sent to some jail and he would have to track the psychopath down and then kill him inside the jail. It was certainly more complicated than what he would have liked. But it was what it was. He would just have to find a way to get the job done.
Percy was once again brought out of his reverie, but this time in a very, harsh, unpleasant and terrifying way when he heard an earthshaking roar and the most terrifying and powerful presence he had ever felt in someone that was not an Olympian. And by Chaos, whatever this monstrosity was, it radiated nothing but bloodlust, malice and rage.
He watched speechless, and with a little twinge of fear as the monster smashed Superman out of the building with a massive fist and that was the size of a small car. The monster was massive and it was a dark, repulsive grey which made Percy's stomach churn.
Percy could feel that this monstrosity was a living embodiment of doom itself. He considered running away, leaving this monstrosity to the boy in blue but he knew that it was too dangerous to just leave this threat to the Man of Steel.
He didn't know what this thing was and whether it had a mechanism to track all metahumans. If it did, once it killed Superman, which seemed certain given that the Kryptonian could barely keep up with this abomination, there was a chance it would come after him. And he knew there was no way he could defeat this thing on his own.
Percy stared at the grey, rampaging Kryptonian abomination and a small, human part of him still alive winced when he saw Clark Kent being ragdolled around like that. He would have to intervene it seemed. For his own good. He sighed in frustration when he realised that he was going to have to play hero once again. The very purpose of moving away from the divine world was to live a life of peace. And here he was, about to go in a diametrically opposite stance to that. But he pushed those thoughts aside temporarily.
Percy twisted his ring and instantly, a deadly Celestial Bronze trident materialised in his hands. The trident was an exact replica of his father's trident and was his weapon of choice now. He then pressed his watch and was enveloped by traditional hoplite armour with the only exception being his use of greave-outfitted combat pants made out of durable yet flexible material to provide more agility.
He dissipated into a blue mist and rematerialised a few hundred feet behind the grey monster. As it rushed towards Superman and engaged him in a thunderous fistfight, Percy calmed his mind and started to execute one of his most powerful attacks.
He had taught it to himself a few years ago but had used it only while training because he hadn't been involved in an actual fight for a very, very long time. Percy created a highly condensed storm cloud within his own body and seperated the positively and negatively charged parts of the storm cloud between the right and left halves of his body.
After a few seconds, he had successfully seperated the charges and gracefully swung his hands in a wide arc as he created a pathway of water through his arms and into the extended index and middle fingers of both his hands. Once the charges were completely separated, he let them flow through into his fingers. Small arcs of electricity randomly erupted from his fingers as he moved his hands closer.
In the meanwhile, Doomsday had smashed Superman through an entire building and before he could go after Superman, Percy held his stretched fingers side-by-side and his index fingers touched as they were pointed at the back of the unsuspecting Doomsday.
Instantly, the two charges collided against each other with furore and a bright flash of light lit up Metropolis as a monstrous bolt of lightning streaked across the area and slammed into the Doomsday's back in fractions of a second. The monster was blasted away with a large explosion which was followed by a deafening clap of thunder.
Percy knelt down and panted as he attempted to regain some of his energy by consuming one of the few squares of Ambrosia that he always had with him in case of an emergency. Generating lightning was far more tiring than just redirecting it and although it was incredibly devastating, he could not spawn multiple bolts of lightning in a single fight like a child of Zeus. He doubted whether he had the energy required to fire even more bolt of such magnitude without losing consciousness. He dissipated into mist and rematerialised next to Superman a moment later.
"I assume that this Kryptonian monstrosity has a bone to pick with you." Percy stated as he extended a hand to Superman. The Kryptonian unhesitatingly accepted his hand as he rose to his feet.
"Whoever you are, thank you for coming. I don't think I can defeat this monster on my own." Clark gratefully answered.
"Don't sweat it boyscout. This is only a one-off. I have a nice penthouse suite here in Metropolis which I'd rather not see destroyed. Plus, Metropolis has the best chicks in this country. I can't let a pig-brained abomination take away my happy place from me." Percy dismissed but their attention was caught when Doomsday discharged a dome of electricity and emerged with bonier protrusions. And somehow, to Percy's absolute disbelief, he could feel that the monster was stronger than before.
"Is it just me or did that thing just become stronger after I fried it with gigajoules of energy?" Percy questioned with disbelief evident on his face.
"It's the genetic replica of an ancient Kryptonian deformity with adaptive regenerative abilities. What doesn't kill it instantly will only make it stronger." Clark revealed with a grim expression.
"Great. The first monster I fight after coming out of retirement is one that will keep getting stronger unless I kill it. Just my luck." Percy sarcastically muttered under his breath before charging at the monster along with Superman.
Doomsday was slammed into a building by Superman before being pierced in the torso by Percy, a moment later, causing the monster to roar in agony. It tried to smash Percy away but the demigod was the fastest and most nimble of the entire bunch and jumped out of the way before condensing the water in the air and smashing it against Doomsday.
Disoriented for a split second, it could not protect itself against the barrage of crushing blows Superman unleashed on it and was pummelled through the area and Percy followed that up slamming its face with a two handed blow from his trident, cutting a deep gash along its face and causing to roar in pain before moving to attack him.
For the next few minutes, which seemed more like hours to Percy, the battle went admirably well, on part of the superhero duo fighting Doomsday as they battled through Metropolis. They were managing to hold their own against Doomsday and had seemingly started to even gain a slight upper hand by managing to work together to inflict some noticeable injuries on the monstrosity.
It was mainly Superman who dealt the strongest blows but even he couldn't deny that the help of this mysterious stranger had been vital in still keeping him in the fight. The metahuman next to him seemed to have powers over water and its other forms, along with some control over storms. He was also the best combatant Clark had ever seen, the green eyed stranger's skill in personal combat vastly trumped his, as well as Doomsday's.
This was what allowed Percy to fight evenly in a battle against a monstrosity that should have walked all over him many times over. An expert feint followed by a brutal thrust from his trident, made of a divine material, managed to pierce the monster's skin, making it roar in pain. Superman immediately smashed the monster away, sending it through multiple buildings.
"Ughh. Who in their right head thought that creating an undead monster was a good idea? What is wrong with you Kryptonians? All the advanced tech in the universe and you guys used it to make this!" Percy groaned as he slightly massaged his sore shoulder.
He had so far avoided taking direct hits from the monster by either evading attacks or by deflecting them away because he really didn't have the sort of durability required to take on multiple hits from the monster and continue fighting at a high level like Superman was doing. But even with all that, it was really taxing to just fight this thing.
"This thing feeds on energy, even the kinetic energy of our own blunt force attacks just feeds it, and has a limitless supply of endurance. The only way to stop it is by killing it in one quick motion. And that can only be done by dealing it with a deadly blow directly to the head or heart." Clark calmly answered.
"Undies, maybe, just maybe, give this sort of information before we get into a slugfest to death with this thing. We have wasted the last few minutes and so much of our energy reserves doing jack shit in terms of damage and have only made it stronger. If you'd told me there's no tiring out this thing, I would have gone for the head or heart directly." Percy shot back in annoyance before he and Superman met the charging monstrosity midway.
Superman and Doomsday's fists clashed, releasing a shockwave that pushed even Percy back. But he quickly recovered his footing and rejoined the fight, teaming up expertly with Superman.
Percy dodged one of Doomsday's fists before cutting a deep gash in the monster's arm with his trident. But there was no blood. The wound just recovered a few moments later. Meanwhile, Clark smashed Doomsday into the ground but the monster managed to catch a hold of him before flinging him kilometres away through dozens of skyscrapers.
Then, before Percy could react, it smashed him into the ground. He groaned in further pain as it kicked him away harshly, causing him to smash through one of the monoliths that were held around Superman's now destroyed statue.
Before Doomsday could attack him further though, it was distracted by the sound of a helicopter above and immediately jumped to the top, smashing through the helicopter and standing on top of a tall building while roaring and releasing another shockwave of lightning.
Percy hissed in pain as he consumed another cube of Ambrosia as he noticed the Kryptonian abomination had gotten stronger once again. He was getting ready to dissipate into mist and resume his attack on the monster when Clark emerged from underneath Doomsday, catching it off-guard and taking it with him to outer space at breakneck speeds.
Percy watched the skies with cautious optimism. Hopefully, Superman would shove this beast into the sun or something and Percy would be able to walk away from this. But to his utter disbelief, he saw those stupid mortals launching a goddamn nuke at Superman and Doomsday. And within seconds, the nuke detonated in the air, becoming akin to a second sun, engulfing both Superman as well as Doomsday.
To his complete horror, Percy could feel Superman's presence fade while the monstrosity's only grew stronger. And like a meteor, it crashed from the exosphere and into an island between Gotham and Metropolis, unleashing a shockwave that he could feel all the way here.
Percy was so furious at the stupidity of these mortals that he promised himself that he would pummel the military idiots who ordered the nuking of Superman. What sort of moronic thinking prompted them into deciding to nuke the one guy who could have actually saved their useless hides.
His anger only grew when he saw the Kryptonian monstrosity growl in anger and let loose a violent surge of red lightning that levelled everything on the island and it's bony protrusions seemed to get even bigger while its energy signature grew even more powerful. Those idiots had not just killed Superman, they had also made the abomination more powerful than ever. Percy knew he had to flee.
This was not his fight. He did not need to play hero and sacrifice himself for the sake of stupid mortal ingrates. As far as he was concerned, they deserved to die for their foolish and irresponsible actions. And he was not going to risk his life any further when he wasn't even remotely responsible for this mess. With Superman gone, he stood no chance at beating this Kryptonian monstrosity.
Hell, even with Superman, he had only managed to get briefly gain the upper hand on this monster. And that was when it had been weaker. There was no way he could defeat it on his own. Not when it seemed to become continuously more powerful. Even though the beast had taken in his scent and would try to hunt him down, he could hide somewhere.
It would be suicidal to engage the abomination in a fight. Deciding that his own life was too valuable, Percy was intent on just slipping away. Even though he felt a pang of guilt in his gut, he quickly shot it down. There were plenty of other heroes in the world to deal with this abomination, he didn't need to risk his life anymore. But then, his enhanced hearing picked up a message from a certain bat vigilante.
"Alfred, the spear, it's pure Kryptonite. If I can just lure it back to the harbour, the spear should be able to weaken and kill the monster." Batman voiced his idea to his butler.
Despite Percy's brain fighting against him, telling him that he should flee while he had the chance, adrenaline filled his veins as he started to think that that spear was now their only chance. His only chance. There was no telling how much more powerful Doomsday would become the next time they met.
Percy violently cursed himself for ever getting involved in the first place. He should have just fled as soon as this abomination made itself known. That way, it would have at least not identified his scent. He should have left this to the gods. But it seemed that he had not been able to kill the hero within himself. He swore to himself that he would find a way to live past this and then, he would never again get into any fight. This was the last time. He sighed in frustration before disappearing in a blue mist. He had an abomination to kill.
Batman was racing to lure the Kryptonian deformity back into the harbour when he was surprised by an armoured green eyed stranger materialising on the wing of his aircraft, one whom he recognised as the person who had been aiding Clark in his struggle against Doomsday.
"Get the spear, Mr Wayne. It's our only hope. Until then, I will keep this monstrosity occupied and draw him to the harbour." Percy shouted loud enough for Bruce to hear him from inside before jumping off. And even though Bruce didn't know the man or how he knew his true identity, he decided to do as asked. The man was clearly a metahuman and knew what he was doing.
Percy landed on the water a few hundred yards away from the island where Doomsday was rampaging as he prepared to fight it by himself. He had not stayed back to fight because of some heroic moral code or some stupid philosophy to protect people. No. Once he was done panicking, Percy had done a rational analysis and had figured out that with Superman dead and with no powerful other reinforcements on the line, this monster would eventually decimate the world until it found him.
The beast had already taken in his aura. And it would not forget that. It was the ultimate killing machine. Even if he hid under the sea, it would reach him. Knowing his shitty luck, it would be probably follow him even across the goddamn universe, after killing every thing that moved on Earth, all the while becoming stronger and stronger until it finally found and killed him. And there was no saying how much stronger it would have gotten by then.
It's pace of growth was frightening to say the least and he didn't doubt that the beast would eventually become stronger than even the gods if left alone. And he could not rely on them to save him. They had a history of sleeping on any threat until it became too big for them and then scrambled to put up a flimsy defense. They had lucked out twice. Percy doubted it would happen another time. Doomsday's rate of growth was just far too dangerous and far too exponential for the gods to handle. They would be decimated.
So, with Wayne speaking of the Kryptonite spear, this was his best chance to destroy the abomination while it still did not completely outclass him. But his current form would not suffice for this task. He sighed as he realised that he would have to use his barely perfected draconian form. But there was no other choice. He had to use his trump card.
Percy steadied his breath completely as he entered a meditative state for a few seconds in order to draw out every bit of power in his body. The water under him froze completely as his body changed shape. He grew massively in size, easily doubling in height as his arms, legs and chest bulked up exponentially and his armour and trident expanded in tandem.
His face roughly remained the same shape, even though it increased in size and his teeth were replaced by fangs of ice while his sea green eyes changed to an azure colour. However, the most noticeable trait was that scales of azure coloured ice coated his entire body. He also grew a tail with a mace at the end made entirely out of the same icy scales.
These icy scales were extremely hard and the protection they offered were almost equivalent to the durability given by the Curse of Achilles. However, they didn't make him entirely invulnerable. They also greatly increased his physical strength, speed and agility as well as giving him the ability to flash freeze anything he touched.
A raging hurricane also formed around him as he immediately took off in Doomsday's direction. This form made him as powerful as, maybe even a touch stronger than Superman along with also giving him divine elemental powers. But it would last only a few minutes at best.
In a few seconds, Percy had crossed the distance between him and the Kryptonian monstrosity which had just stopped its violent electrical discharge and he smashed his trident on top of the monster's head with enough force to cause it to buckle its knees and cause a crater in the ground.
He then slammed his tail into the monster's torso and smashed the monster away while freezing its outer skin. Percy then opened his mouth and fired a pillar of extremely dense and scorchingly hot steam at Doomsday which left a dark mark on the monster's head.
However, Doomsday recovered and adapted to its new opponent faster than Percy expected and in the blink of an eye, it smashed its fist into its gut, sending him flying away. His scales and armour absorbed most of the impact but nonetheless, he was sent flying away.
It then pounded at him with a brutal barrage of fists which Percy barely managed to keep up with as he used his tail and trident to intercept the beast's fists, resulting in shockwaves as the two fought across the sky. The hurricane managed to slow the beast down but it was only enough to help Percy keep up with the monstrosity and not get completely overwhelmed by it. But it was clear that Percy was being pushed back. He was bruised all over, the bony protrusions could pierce even his usually impenetrable scales leaving him peppered with gashes that freely oozed Ichor.
Crucially though, he was actually inflicting damage on the Kryptonian deformity and the primeval chill that emanated from him gradually froze the monster's fists and his scorching steam breaths were leaving marks on it. Eventually, after a thunderous clash with his trident, one of Doomsday's completely frozen fists shattered upon impact with his trident and Percy immediately broke the other one with his tail.
That immediately released a violent dome of red lightning from within Doomsday's body as it roared in anger but before it could react, Percy rerouted all the lightning through his body and into his trident while whirling it above head faster than the blades of a helicopter.
Once the prongs of his trident were sizzling with arcs of lightning erupting from them, he brought it his trident down in an attempt to impale the monster's head. Unfortunately, Doomsday moved its head at the last second but Percy still managed to impale it's neck.
That discharged all of the monster's lightning into its own body while also slamming it down into the ground with a thunderous boom. Doomsday crashed into the ground so hard that the collision split the island in half and caused another violent electrical discharge from the monster. Before the dome reached him, Percy dissipated into a blue mist.
Percy rematerialized and exhaustedly kneeled into the ground a few hundred feet away as he panted due to the sheer exertion of using his form and fighting with the monster. He had only inflicted this much damage because his new form had taken it by surprise. And to his disdain, he felt Doomsday growing stronger once again.
He realised even his draconian form wouldn't suffice now. Where in the name of Chaos was that emo billionaire with the Kryptonite spear? He had barely managed to keep up with the monster up until now. And now, he was completely exhausted and it had grown even stronger. He would not be able to keep it occupied much longer.
His predictions came true as his exhaustion finally caught up to him just as Doomsday regrew two very blunt, rock shaped bony protrusions for fists before immediately rushing towards him and slamming its fists into his chest before he could even react. He hissed in pain as he was smashed hundreds of feet away. It seemed the abomination had not just grown stronger, it had also grown faster.
That single attack knocked the living daylights out of him. His scales and armour protected him from the worst but he still felt like a few of his ribs had cracked at the impact and he blacked out for a few seconds. And the sheer force behind the attack destroyed his azure dragon form and sent him flying into the harbour behind, all the while kicking up a large geyser of water in his wake. However before Doomsday could pursue and finish him off, it felt annoyed by the rounds of bullets on its back.
Doomsday turned around and saw that Batman was shooting at it from his plane that was at Gotham harbour and even its primitive brain managed to recognise the threat posed by the pure Kryptonite spear in his hands.
The monster destroyed his ship with its heat vision, and he barely escaped. Bruce then found himself on his back, and was about to overwhelmed by another deadly heat beam by the monster. It seemed certain that he would meet his end here, given that the green eyed stranger seemed to have been put out of commission, at least temporarily. But to Bruce's absolute shock, the heat vision was stopped and he was saved by a woman whom he recognised as Diana Prince. It seemed that not all hope was lost. At least not yet.
Hey guys! So in this chapter I dig a little deeper into Percy's character and show he's not as amoral as he thinks he is. He's still not an out and out hero but you can see there's some good left in him. I've also decided to put him at a power level where he's weaker than Superman in terms of pure power but his insane combat experience as well as his plethora of abilities and superior speed as well as agility make him a very, very dangerous opponent to even Superman. He is a very powerful character, not because of his brute strength but due to how he fights very tactically.
Also, feel free to reach out to me on my channel in the Emerald Library in Discord. I interact with a fair bit of people there and would definitely learn a lot if more if more of you interacted with me over there!
Read and review, I hope that all of you enjoyed the previous chapter! Have a wonderful day!
