Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 25 of Messed Up World. Thank you to those who have left reviews for this story. It really does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying this story so far. I hope that you guys enjoy the future chapters that I have coming out. I am hoping that I do this chapter justice. It takes time to make the chapters worthwhile in reading and making them good. Some of this chapter is an OG chapter just due to the fact that I'm trying my best to avoid writing stuff that follows the whole episode. I try to give something new to work with and something new and exciting to read. I am hoping that everyone enjoys this next part since I'm still trying my best when it comes to writing a type of story like this. Since I'm not used to writing graphic scenes when it comes to what happens in the series Hannibal, I am learning slowly. Hopefully this chapter turned out well. Without further ado Chapter 25. ENJOY!
Chapter 25
Margarita tiredly walked towards the stairs as Will slowly walked towards the office.
Hannibal opened the door. "Will come on in."
Will nodded his head slowly.
Hannibal looked at his wife with a soft look on his face. "I'll be there soon, mylimasis."
Margarita nodded her head slowly as she stopped near the stairs. "I know Hannibal." She said softly looking at her husband. "I'll be waiting for you."
Hannibal nodded his head slowly.
"I'll check on Mischa." She told her husband softly.
"Alright." He said softly before going into his office.
Margarita headed up the stairs tiredly letting out a soft breath. Her feet padded lightly on the stairs as she made it to the second floor. She walked towards their daughter's room and heard her playing inside of her room. Margarita knocked on the door and slowly walked inside. "It's bedtime, sweetheart."
Mischa looked up from her toys that she was playing with. "Do I have to mommy?" She looked tired, but she really didn't want to go to bed.
"It's time for bed. Daddy will be in once he's finished meeting with Will."
Mischa wrinkled her nose a little bit. "He's almost always here."
"Oh sweetheart do you not like Will coming to see your daddy for help?"
"Mommy there is something about him."
"Oh sweetheart." Margarita said as she carefully picked Mischa up off of the floor. "Will isn't dangerous." She softly smoothed Mischa's hair back and slowly brought her over to her bed. "Come on, let's get you changed."
Mischa let out a soft breath crossing her arms. "He won't hurt us?"
"Oh no of course not. He's one of the good guys."
"Like you and daddy?"
Margarita slowed as she grabbed one of Mischa's night clothes. She took a soft breath. "Yes, like me and daddy." She said softly, putting a smile on her face. She slowly began to help Mischa into her night clothes.
"Daddy won't be long?"
"Oh no, I'm sure he'll be here to wish you good night." Margarita said as she helped her daughter into the night clothes. "Come on now." She said as she moved the blankets to get Mischa into bed.
Mischa got under the covers letting out a tired breath.
"I know you don't want to go to bed until daddy gets here to wish you goodnight."
Mischa let out a tired yawn cuddling up under her blankets. "Mommy… will you and daddy have another child like me?" She questioned rather sleepily.
Margarita stroked some of Mischa's hair back soothingly. "Your father and I spoke about it and we're working on it sweetheart."
"Yeah?" She asked sleepily.
Margarita kissed her daughter softly on the head. "Yeah we are."
"That would be amazing to have a sibling."
"Good night my sweet girl."
"Night mommy."
Margarita slowly left the room and closed the door slowly. She slowly went towards her room that she shared with Hannibal. Her mind reeling on what her daughter had said. Did Mischa not trust Will? She knew that Mischa really didn't know Will at all and it was going to take time for her to get to know him, but right now Will was Hannibal's patient, as well as friend. She slowly walked into their room and let out a soft breath. She ran her hand through her blonde hair. She slowly began to remove her day clothes and decided to change into one of Hannibal's favorite nightgowns that he loved seeing her in.
After she changed she slowly walked over to the bed and rolled the blankets down. She slowly got into the bed and pulled the blankets up over her frame. She reached over and grabbed the book that was on her nightstand and opened it to where she had left off. She nibbled her lower lip softly as she read the book knowing that Hannibal would be taking some time to finish with Will. She could only hope that he would wish his daughter a good night and then join her in bed.
Not even 20 minutes later Hannibal slowly came into the bedroom.
Margarita looked up from her book. "How is Will?" She asked softly looking at her husband as he removed his work clothes to change into his night clothes.
"He's rather confused." Hannibal said softly as he changed into his nightshirt and sleep pants. "He is slowly starting to lose himself."
Margarita bit her lip softly in worry.
"You're worried for him."
"He's a friend, Hannibal. Of course I'm worried for him. His own mind will be his undoing." She said softly as she gripped her hands together in concern. "Jack's pushing him way too hard and I don't think after this case, he'll be the same."
Hannibal slowly joined her in bed and kissed the top of her head lightly. "I know you're worried about him, but I am going to be there every step of the way to help him."
"Hannibal, you can only do so much."
Hannibal rubbed her arms softly knowing his wife was having a hard time seeing Will struggling with everything that was going on with him.
"Did he tell you that he blew up on Jack?"
Hannibal raised his brow. "No, he didn't."
"He blew up on Jack. Then he walked away from Jack, but…"
"What happened?"
"I may or may not have also blown up on Jack for putting so much pressure on Will."
Hannibal hummed softly. "You're protective."
"Why wouldn't I be?" She said softly as he kissed the top of her head again.
"He's your friend. And you don't want him to end up like you did."
"That's exactly it, Hannibal. If Jack keeps pushing him."
"We'll be there for him." He told her softly, stroking her arm softly.
HANNIBAL
Jack, Will, and Margarita were on the opposite side of Emma who was a slightly anxious woman unsure of why she was in the BAU interrogation room.
"Has he contacted you since he left?" Jack questioned as he shifted slightly in his seat as he looked at Emma.
"I left him. And no, he hasn't." Emma admitted softly looking up at Jack wringing her hands together nervously.
"Why did you leave?"
"Because of his cancer. Makes me sound like a horrible wife."
Margarita pursed her lips together as she crossed her arms shifting her weight from one foot to the next since she stood behind Will and Jack who were both sitting in chairs.
"Sure you had your reasons." Jack said looking at Emma, his brow raising slightly wondering why a woman would leave her husband.
"I took a leave from work to be with him. I wanted to be there for him. But what he wanted was to be alone."
Jack blinked a few times slowly coming to the unfortunate realization that he and Emma had something in common.
"He kept pulling away and pulling away. He made it clear he didn't want me there. Then it wasn't clear. Then it didn't matter why he was acting the way he was."
Will and Margarita watch Jack as he pours himself a glass of water and drinks it.
Will realized suddenly he had to pick up the baton of interrogation as Jack is clearly distracted with something.
"It was weird for the kids. What kind of mother exposes her children to someone who's losing their mind."
"Was he ever violent, Mrs. Budish?" Will questioned looking at Emma.
Her hesitation suggested it was more than a yes or no answer to his question. "He was angry. Never hit me or the boys. I thought when he got weak enough, when the cancer got worse, it wouldn't be confusing for them. They could just see him as a sick man, and not someone so terrified."
"Did your husband's faith falter after he was told about the cancer?"
"Elliot wasn't ever religious. Is he doing something religious?"
Margarita cleared her throat softly. "He may believe he is."
Jack looked over at Emma. "Your husband's dying, Mrs. Budish. Soon. We want to find him before he hurts himself or anyone else."
"He died once before. Suffocated in a fire when he was a little boy. Fireman who resuscitated him said he must've had a guardian angel."
"Where did this happen?" Will questioned taking in the information that this was something that they desperately needed to stop Eric from hurting himself or someone else.
"A farm where he grew up."
HANNIBAL
Will, Jack, and Margarita stomped through the dead grass as they approached the barn. Behind them were two local police cars and their officers waiting for the go ahead to move. They walked through a rolling slatted wood door revealing another angel of death hanging in the rafters, illuminated by the shafts of light. The three of them were stunned by the horrific image.
Margarita looked away, her stomach churning in distaste.
Jack heaved an annoyed sigh at another lost life. They didn't make it in time.
"This will be the last one."
Jack's flashlight beam flickered across the Angel's face. It was the same face he had seen on the driver's license before. "It's Budish?"
"He made himself into an angel." Will slowly walked slowly forward.
Jack crossed to the barn door to shout at the local police who were waiting in the distant field. "Get the Coroner down here."
Will watched Elliot Budish's angelic form from a safe distance.
Margarita slowly came up behind Will looking on from behind him at the body.
"It wasn't God, wasn't man, it was his choice to die." Will said as he continued to look up at the body.
"His choice?" Jack questioned as he looked over at Will.
"As much as he could make it."
"You feeling a shortage of choices?"
"I don't know how much longer I can be all that useful to you, Jack." Will admitted softly not looking over at Jack knowing that this wasn't good for him whatsoever to be this close.
"Really? You caught three. The last three we had, you caught."
"I didn't catch this one. Elliot Budish surrendered."
Jack turned to walk out of the barn frustrated. "I'm used to not getting information from my wife. I don't need to not get information from you, too."
"It's getting harder and harder to make myself look."
That stopped Jack in his tracks to turn and face Will. "No one is asking you to look alone."
Margarita let out a soft breath knowing that wasn't true. Jack's words held no meaning to them. Of course Will was looking alone. Even when she did stuff like this she also was looking alone.
"But I am looking alone. And you know what looking at this does." Will said softly, his hands gripping tightly at his sides.
"I know what happens when you don't look. So do you."
"I can make myself look but the thinking is shutting down."
"What is it about this one?"
"It's not this one. It's all of them. It's the next one. It's the one I know is coming after that."
"I don't think you want to go back to your lecture hall and read about the next one on ."
"No, I don't. But that may be what I have to do. This is bad for me."
"I'm not the pope, I'm not going to tell you what you ought to do -"
"Sounds like that's exactly what you're going to do."
"You go back to your classroom and there's more killing that you could have prevented, it will sour that classroom forever."
"Maybe. Then maybe I will find a job as a diesel mechanic in a boatyard."
Jack studied Will without saying anything, before abruptly turning to walk out of the barn. "If you want to quit, quit."
Margarita let out a soft breath and walked out of the barn as well taking a soft breath. She crossed her arms as she looked at Jack. "You know… that is the exact same thing that you told me when I said I needed to step back." She pointed out to Jack.
Jack turned sharply to look at the blonde haired woman.
"This is just a warning Jack. Don't push him too hard. You know for people like Will and myself we can shut down and it won't end well for anyone. It's dangerous to push him this hard. You really should give him a chance to rest before pushing him into another case." She let out a soft breath and shook her head lightly. "Of course you probably won't listen, sir, but it's just food for thought." She said before walking away towards the car that they had come in. She knew that Jack needed to think of what he was doing to Will and she knew that Jack wasn't going to be so willing to give up on Will.

This is the end of Chapter 25. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I did add quite a bit of OG writing to this chapter to make it a bit longer since I kind of have some of these chapters kind of planned out in advance. I hope that it turned out well. We're finding out a bit more about Margarita and why she had left the FBI to begin with. There will be more as time goes on of why she left. There will be one case that she left on and I will try to figure out how to write that out in one of the future chapters. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Reviews help me keep going when it comes to writing. I will update on Friday. Until next time.
