One Piece: The Little Stowaway Ch.5 Sniping Lesson With Usopp and Cooking with Sanji
It was the second day in the Sunny, yet another bright sunshiny day of sailing through the vast open sea. The seagulls are soaring above, and the currents were steady as usual, and not a single cloud in the sky.
The Straw Hats were wide awake, and went to their usual routine such as their sniper, Usopp in his factory, adding some minor adjustments to his Kuro Kabuto and making some blueprints on adding a new upgrade to Nami's Clima-Tact. While he was sketching, he hear some clinging noises coming above which caught the long-nosed sniper's attention.
"What is the new world was that?" Usopp questioned himself, putting the hammer down, and makes his way up on the deck.
Once he did, Usopp noticed some empty cans laying around as he looked up to see where the clanging noise was coming from.
Miyu was up above the balcony, holding his old slingshot the Ginga Pachinko in her hand, taking each shot from it, knocking them down without a single mess. This stuns him for how accurate this little wolf girl is with his old shotty.
"Miyu, what are you doing?" He asked which startled the little wolf girl.
"Eep!" She shrieked. "U-Usopp! I-'m sorry for using your slingshot without permission! I just want to try it out that's all!" She frantically bowed her head up and down.
"Whoa, whoa, easy there," He held his hand up in defense. "Didn't mean to scare ya."
"Scared me?" She puffed her cheeks and pouted. "Who said you scared me, I wasn't scared, you just surprised nothing more!"
"You're a worse liar than Luffy..." The long-nosed sniper smirked.
"Not as much as you..." She muttered.
"OI! I HEARD THAT!?" He rebutted. "I'm no lair!"
"Well, that's what, Nami told me." She pouted.
"That sneaky cat..." He mumbled with such annoyance at the fact Nami spouted out about him to Miyu.
"Anyway, here..." She handed over his old slingshot. "You can have it back."
"Actually," The sniper grinned. "I'd like to see more for myself on what you can do for yourself as great marksmen."
"R-really?!" Miyu's tail wagged happily.
"Would I lie?" Usopp smiled but was short-lived with Miyu's simple answers.
"Yes."
"D'oh! Okay, I would, but I'm being honest this time."
"I know, I'm just teasing you, long-nose." She'd giggled.
"Well, at any rate, show me what you got kiddo."
With that, Usopp picks up the can, only this time a little further away from the port of the ship, and hustles right back.
"Now then, let's see if you can knock out these cans again much farther away." He pointed at them, which made Miyu uneasy at first.
"You want me to hit them that far?"
"Yes," He nodded and pointed at the can way out of the distance. "Just try to take down the target this far in range, okay?"
"B-But I don't if I can make that far." She whimpered.
"Don't worry, I know you can," He said, giving her some confidence and assurance towards her. "Just concentrate and take your time with your aim."
"Okay..." Miyu nodded.
She carefully aims at her target and takes the shot. As she did, she tightly shut her eyes, praying not to miss until... ''CLANG!''
Peeking one eye open, she notice a single can was knocked off the railing.
"I-I hit it...?!" She gasped, her eyes widening in total disbelief. "I HIT IT!" She cheered.
"Good work, Miyu!" Usopp clapped.
"I thought I would miss and I didn't!" Miyu hops around with joy.
"You sure are a great marksman like myself," Usopp smiled. "Say, how would like for me to train and show you some few skills of my sniping capabilities?"
"Really?"
Of course," He obliged in a prideful manner. "You can count on the great Captain Usopp to help you seek the guidance of sniping! You can be my new apprentice!"
"Me? An apprentice?" Miyu's eyes sparkled.
"Unless you don't have to." Usopp teased. "Although you're a little kid."
"I'M NOT A KID, LONG-NOSE!" She spat and blew a raspberry at him.
"Hey!" Usopp frowned at her.
"I'll prove that I can be capable of this!"
With that, she takes enough shots only this time it hit a different than the cans.
"OW! WHAT THE HELL?!" A voice rang out.
Usopp can already tell who that belongs to... Zoro.
"Uh, oh..."
Miyu in a panic state quickly slip the sling into his pocket and took off running.
"Wha-?! HEY!" Usopp exclaimed.
"Ok! Who the hell did that!?" He demanded.
"Gah! Z-Z-Z-Zoro! I-It's not what you think!" He waved his arms in defense. "It was..."
But before he can further explain, Zoro growled furiously as he draws his swords.
"You're so dead now!" He snarled.
"EEEEEEEIIIIK!"
~In The Sickbay~
10 minutes later
We see Usopp all bandaged up and his face covered with bruises and bumps.
"Ow..."
"Seriously Zoro, what was the reason to attack him like that?!" Chopper scolded.
"He aimed at my head!" Zoro countered. "He shot me!"
I told you I didn't!" Usopp rebuked. "It was Miyu who did it!"
"Usopp, why would you think she'll do such a thing?" Nami asked both hands on her hips. "She would've done that on purpose for any reason at all. Seriously, you shouldn't shift the blame on a little girl You'd be ashamed of yourself!"
"But it's the truth!"
"Then what proof do you have?"
"Well..."
But before he can answer they hear whimpering sounds before they turn to see Miyu standing by the doorway of the sickbay, tear trickled down her cheeks while her ears hung down and her tail tucked between her legs. She sobbed and whine feeling so much guilt for what she did.
"Miyu?" Nami looked at her confused.
"What's wrong?" Chopper looked concerned for her.
"H-He wasn't lying... I did it." She said as more tears streamed down. "I'm...sorry..."
"Why would you do that Miyu?" Nami asked so surprisingly by Miyu's claim.
"I-I was scared..." She sobs much harder. "I just didn't want to get yelled at by him. Zoro is scary when he gets angry."
"Tsk!" Zoro scoffed. "Our navigator can be scarier." Zoro quietly commented, and Nami smack him at the back of the head. "OW! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!" He shouted.
"That's for scaring Miyu, you dumbass!" Nami shouted back at him.
It wasn't my fault that she was a coward like yourself!" He rebuked.
"He's right... I am a coward..." Miyu hung her head.
"Oh, Miyu..." Nami huddle over to her, and comforts her with a hug.
"There's nothing wrong with being afraid." They all glance towards Usopp as he smiles. "True I'm a coward, and so does Nami, and Chopper. But that doesn't mean you should be ashamed of being one. We can be scared whatever we face, even if it will get us killed..." Both Nami and Chopper glared at him for mentioning the word 'killed' "Well I'm telling the truth aren't I?!"
"Sure you are..." Nami groans before she faces Miyu with a sweet smile. "What Usopp meant to say is that while true we would show are cowardice and get scared of things, but we can show our bravery and stand up to things even if it's a life or death situation."
"Really...?" She sniffed.
"Of course," Nami replied, patting her head. "Sure Zoro can be a grump and hot-headed, but he's a nice guy."
Zoro just sat there, scoffing at that remark with his arms crossed.
"Well, in that case, I'm sorry for letting you take the blame." Miyu apologized to Usopp.
"Nah it's okay." He gave her a thumbs up as a sign of accepting her apology.
"What?" Miyu looked surprised. "But I caused you so much trouble and big meanie moss-head hurt you because of me!"
"Wait, did curly-brow cook teach you to say that?!" Zoro's eye set ablaze. "That bastard is giving a bad example to ya kid!" With that he stormed out, leaving the four alone.
"Moss head scares me when he gets mad, Nami." She whimpered.
"STOP CALLING ME MOSS HEAD, DAMMIT!"
"Eek!" Miyu squealed, hiding behind Nami's legs.
"Jeez, Zoro, you shouldn't yell at her just because she'd learn it from Sanji." She scolded the swordsmen.
"Whatever..." He grumbled as he takes his leave to give the blonde-haired cook a piece of his mind.
"Sorry, Zoro." She said shaking her voice.
"Don't worry about him," Chopper assures her. "Remember we may be a grump and sour-puss, but he's a softy deep down."
"Doubt it..." Usopp whispered to himself.
"What is its long nose!?" Zoro gave him a stink eye at him.
"Gah! N-Nothing... I didn't say anything!" He acts innocently and whistles to himself which cause Nami, Chopper, and Miyu to laugh at it.
"Ussop you're funny!"
"Oh?" He makes a cheeky snicker. "Well, wait till I tell you this joke I have."
Soon Nami and Chopper's faces are filled will dread about what's to come.
"Oh, no, Usopp not this lame joke again!"
"What!"
~The Next Day~
It was 3:30 in the morning, the sun was barely raised as it was still night outside, and the Straw Hats are still in bed, sleeping peacefully. Their slumber would soon get a rude awakening as they smell smoke.
"Why do I smell something burning?!" Nami panicked.
"YO! Is the Sunny on fire?!" Franky freaked out, bursting out the door.
"THE SHIP IS ON FIRE?!" Chopper screamed.
"WAHHH! QUICK EVERYONE, GET SOME WATER!" Usopp ordered.
"RIGHT!"
WHOEVER DOES THIS TO SUNNY! I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM!
As everyone rushed in with buckets of water in their hands, what they soon discover was a messy kitchen with flour powdered around footprints all over the floor, eggs splattered here and there as the whole room filled the smoke.
But what surprised them the most was Miyu, in an apron that was oversized from how she was wearing it, her face was covered with spots of pancake batter and some bandages on her fingers due to the burns.
"Oh...uh... morning?" She awkwardly smiled.
"MIYU!" Nami gasped. "What is the new world going on?!"
"I...I'm sorry, guys... I just wanted to make you guys some breakfast." She lower her head down ashamed. "I just wanted to make it up to you guys for all the things you all did for me."
Goo was hovering next to her as he nodded in agreement.
"Miyu... It's ok..." She assured her. "But you know you could've caused the whole ship on fire, though." The navigator softly scolded.
"I'm sorry..." Miyu's ears lowered.
"Ooooo, you made us some breakfast?!" Luffy was urging for some food.
"Uh, yes..." She replied as she presented them some stack of pancakes...or rather charred and very burnt pancakes. "I made you all pancakes." She smiled awkwardly.
"Actually... I think I lost my appetite..." Luffy said with disgust on his face.
What?!" Miyu teared up. "You mean I did a horrible job?"
"Oh no, it's just you just don't know better how to make things properly," Nami assures her.
"She's right about one thing, kid," Sanji spoke, lighting his smoke. "You just need a little teaching on how to cook more proper manner. And thus you have the best cook of this ship to do so."
"You mean you're going to teach how?" She happily exclaimed.
"Of course, Mimi-chan." Sanji bowed politely. "It will be an honor to teach you the mastery of cooking. But first things first, we need to dispose of your pancakes and clean up this whole mess before we can start your cooking lessons." Sanji grinned.
"Oh... r-right..." A sweat drop formed on her head.
"Don't worry," Usopp assure the little lycan. "We'll help out to clean this mess."
"Awww can we make breakfast first, I'm starving!" Luffy whined.
"Wait first!" The cook shouted.
After 30 minutes of cleaning up the kitchen, Sanji prep with Miyu for her cooking lessons.
"So are you going to show me how to make a good proper breakfast?" She asked to which the infamous chef ruffle her hair.
"Just be patient my young new cook, just watch me lead and you'll soon learn something in time. We first get our hands washed." Sanji leads her to the sink.
"Right!" She nodded as she proceeded to do so.
"Good," He washes his hand with her. "Once we're done with that, I'll let you get some eggs, butter, milk, and some flour for the pancakes," Sanji instructed her. "And I'll get the stove ready."
"Alright, Mr. Sanji!"
"Please, just call me, Sanji." He smiled.
"Sure thing, Mister... I mean, Sanji!" She corrected herself as she smiled brightly.
"Alright then," He gets everything settled while Miyu gathers the ingredients. "Now the first thing we do is get skillet out and mixing bowl."
"I'm on it!" She gave him a salute.
With that, she manage to get these two items while Sanji got the measurement cups and spoons.
"Right," He said puffing smoke out of his cigarette. "Let us begin."
20 minutes had passed, and while everyone on the ship can almost smell the goodness of freshly new pancakes being made, thus of course Luffy mainly drooling for this fluffy goodness, Chopper can almost taste the maple syrup he'll soon pour on those pancakes. It wasn't much longer until Miyu opens the door and wave out to them.
"Everyone!" She called out. "Breakfast is served!"
Soon all of the Straw Hats gathered around the dining table and sure enough, they get to serve pancakes which are not burnt or disgustingly gross like before.
"WOAH! THESE LOOK GOOD!" Luffy's eyes lit up. "LET'S EAT!"
Sanji however stops him by his foot.
"Ladies first, damn ass!" He grumble as he was referring to Nami and Robin.
"Awww!" The straw hat boy whined in disappointment as the two ladies sat down and were served with their stacks.
"Hope you like them, guys." Miyu smiled nervously.
"I bet Sanji's teaching had paid off for ya, Miyu," Nami said before she took a bite. "MHHHM!" She hummed in delightedness at the taste. "It's amazing!"
Robin too took a bite of hers and shared equally results.
"I must say, Sanji, you sure taught, Miyu very well." She winked.
"OOOOH!ROBIN CHWAAAAN!" Sanji cried, twirling around like a top while hearts radiate around him.
"There he goes again..." Usopp and Chopper nonchalantly sighed.
Luffy on the other hand was munching down so many stacks of pancakes, already finished his plate.
"Seconds please!"
"I'm really glad you all like it," Miyu said pridefully. "I couldn't do it without you, Sanji!"
"It's nothing, Mi-mi chan." He chuckles, ruffling her hair, and causing her to giggle.
With that, everyone continued enjoying their newly fresh pancakes.
~Later after breakfast~
After finishing up their meals, Miyu was up by the Crow's Nest as she was watching over the vast ocean view as she watching the clouds, and seagulls fluttering and gliding above the skies. The little lycan finds a spyglass and observes around the horizon. She then spotted something out in the distance. Upon further inspection, it looked like some sort of land up ahead in the far distance.
"Hey, Goo, look!" She exclaimed.
"Goo?" He looked through the glass.
"There a land up ahead! It must be an island!"
Just then the hatch opened and in comes Nami, bringing a plate of cookies and milk for a snack which she strolled by noticing her observing the spyglass in her hands (Paws to be precise)
"How are you doing there, Miyu? Enjoying the view, hmm?" She smiled softly, strolling her way to the young wolf-girl.
"Huh?" She looks over in her direction. "Doing okay, just been looking over to the island from the distance. And it looks like a small town there."
Nami scoots over next to her as Miyu return to spy glassing the direction where the island is in front of them.
"Oh?" She asked. "Then you must know what our destination to stop at," Nami pointed out.
She takes her binoculars and sees the next island they're about to stop.
"And at any rate, we'll go shopping for some new clothes for you."
"Wow!" Miyu's face lit up.
"Mhmm," She nodded. "I did promise to buy you some new clothes by the time, right?"
"Yep," She wagged her with excitement.
"Well, that's what you, me, and Robin are going to do once we docked and get settled." She winked. "You know may after, how about I teach you some things or two on navigation and maybe some... cat burgling skills."
"But isn't stealing bad?" She asked with her head tilted.
"We're pirates and you'll soon be joining in the crew by the time being, yes, stealing is part of piracy, but we don't steal all the time."
"Oh," She started to get the message straight. "Well, I guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right, and besides..." She patted her head. "I think you'll fit in here. We just need to show you some basics here or two."
"Right!" Miyu happily nodded.
"Come on, we're just about to make our stop in 15 minutes," Nami said, taking her hand. "I have a hunch that our captain will be impatiently anxious for our stop."
"Yep!"
"Well, let's not keep everyone waiting."
They soon climb down from the crows' nest while everyone is on deck and Luffy sits on the figurehead, holding his hand over his eyes to get a clever view of the island up ahead in front of his view.
"Shishishishi!" Luffy chuckled. "New island ahead! Looks Fun! Wonder if they got great restaurants there!" The rubber boy couldn't be any hungrier than before.
"Wonder there, a tavern or a bar where they sale great boozes there." Zoro was equally eager for some alcohol.
"There could be new ingredients there I can try out." Sanji is equally invested in this new island they're stopping to.
"I'm quite curious about what kinds of new books I can buy there." Robin smiled.
"OW!" Franky exclaimed as he makes his 'SUPER' pose. "I just can't contain myself with all this excitement!"
"So, is everyone ready to disembark?" Nami asked.
"That's only for our captain to give a decision." Zoro pointed out to Luffy as he swung over to the deck.
"You're probably right," She smiles and turns to Luffy. "What ya say, Luffy? Ready to disembark?"
"Yeah," Luffy then raises his fists high as he shouts at the top of his lungs. "LET'S GO!"
"YEAH!" Everyone chanted, save for Miyu who was the only one that not cheering.
"Hey, come no, Miyu, don't leave us hanging!" Luffy grinned.
"You're going to be part of our crew, right?" Usopp asked. "So come on, chant with us!"
"Yeah, join us, Miyu!" Chopper cheered happily.
"It's no fun being left out in the dumps you know, Yohohoho~!" Chortled Brook.
"Uhmm, Yeah..." Whispered Miyu, still unsure of herself.
"Then what are you waiting for?!" Luffy hollered. "Let out your spirits!"
"Right!" Miyu soon gain some confidence and raise her arms high and... " LET'S GO!" She let out.
"Shishishishi! That's more I like it!" The captain praised her proudly to the little lycan.
In so, the Straw Hats are about to make their way into a whole new adventure, seeking a quest to find new clothes for the soon-to-be new crew mate. But what dangers await for our Straw Hats?
