Today has been a busy day. Just like I promised Beaver, today was Beaver and Riley day. We went out for breakfast, then we went to an arcade, after that we went to lunch, next we went bowling, then we had dinner and finally we stopped to get ice cream before coming back to the KT house. We got back to the house right in time to start setting up for tonight's party.

I told Cappie I would help set up and stay for the first little bit, but then I had to head to the ZBZ house for Casey's pledge sleepover thing. I'm not really looking forward to it. I love my pledge sisters and my ZBZ sisters, but I don't want to spend a whole night with Jen K or with Casey and Rebecca being hostile all night.

The weather has progressively gotten worse today. We took Beaver's car so I might have to walk back to ZBZ in the pouring rain if this weather doesn't improve soon. When Beaver and I walk into the house I'm immediately grabbed into a hug by Uncle Josh. He says, "Oh dear niece it has been far too long since that hooligan stole you away from us. I have missed you so."

I roll my eyes and say, "I literally see you every day and we go out to lunch or dinner just for us at least once a week. Be nice to Beaver."

Before Uncle Josh can respond I am pulled into another hug. I look up to see it is Cappie pulling me into this hug. He says, "She's right. You guys all hog my girlfriend way too much."

I roll my eyes again and say, "I see you, like, every day too and if I don't see you I call you. Don't act like I'm depriving you attention."

Beaver pulls me out of Cappie's arms and gives me a big hug. He says, "I had a lot of fun today Riley. Thank you for planning a Riley and Beaver super fun day."

I hug him back and say, "It was no problem Beaver. We'll go out for lunch one day next week just us to catch up again."

Beaver nods and says, "Sounds Awesome! Later Sunshine I'm going to help get the kegs set up." I just laugh and watch him head off towards the pledges who are struggling to get the kegs moved.

I say, "Ok I don't have too long to help you guys set up or to hang around the party. I have to be at that pledge sleepover. Casey is very excited about it. She will be pissed if I am late."

Cappie says, "Are you still dreading the sleepover?"

I nod and say, "Yes. Being stuck with all the fakeness and hostility does not sound like any fun at all."

Uncle Josh says, "That doesn't sound very exciting. Hopefully it won't be too bad for you."

We stopped talking about the sleepover and went about setting out the alcohol and some chips for the party. We got the band set up and when the music starts going, people start to arrive. Once the party got going it was fun as always, but as the party went on the weather got worse.

Cappie and I are up in front of the band dancing and singing along to their songs. Rusty walks by us carrying cups of beer. Cappie and I each grab one and so does the lead singer of the band, after we get our beers Rusty keeps walking through the crowd.

I look around and notice Uncle Josh isn't anywhere to be seen, which is weird because he loves this band, severe weather warnings, and parties. I just got the notification on my phone that what was just supposed to be some rain is now a severe weather warning.

I look around and notice him sitting on the stairs by the door. I start to head over to him when Cappie says, "Where are you going?"

I say, "To check on Uncle Josh." I point to where he is on the stairs.

Cappie says, "Let's go see what's bothering my best friend slash your uncle."

We get over to Uncle Josh at the same time as Rusty does. Rusty says, "Hey Josh, why the long face? This party has your three favorite things: beer, girls, and a severe weather warning."

I say, "He's got a point Uncle Josh. What's going on?"

Uncle Josh says, "I'm in a funk, Spitter, Riles."

Cappie says, "Come on, man."

Spitter says, "Look at all the hot mamas here. I'm currently off the market because I'm in a relationship. But if I didn't have a girlfriend I'd be all over this."

Cappie says, "And I also have a girlfriend. So that makes you the hottest single guy here now."

Uncle Josh says, "Subtle."

A girl walks and says, "Josh," in a very flirty way.

Rusty says, "What about her?"

Uncle Josh says, "We call her saran wrap. Clingy."

I roll my eyes and say, "You guys can be really harsh sometimes."

Another girl walks by giving Uncle Josh a flirty look also. Rusty says, "She's pretty." He's not wrong she is very pretty.

Uncle Josh says, "Her perfume gives me hives." Ok now he is just exaggerating.

Another girl walks by and says, "Josh."

Rusty says, "What could be wrong with her?"

Uncle Josh says, "Sleep apnea."

Cappie says, "You are in a funk."

Uncle Josh says, "Yeah, I just feel like I'm watching TV and all that's on is reruns, you know? Maybe I just need a furlough from the females. I could spend some time indulging my other interests. Like beer. And Days of Our Lives. Spending time with my friends. Spending time with my favorite niece. And mentoring today's youth. Speaking of which, tell me about this girlfriend of yours?"

Rusty says, "Well, her name is Jen K., and she has these soft, fluffy pink lips that I could kiss forever." I still don't like Jen, but I am glad she makes Rusty happy. I really hope she is being real with him, because I know she isn't being real with anyone else.

The door bell rings and Uncle Josh says, "Hold that thought." Uncle Josh opens the door and standing there was a woman in all leather taking off her motorcycle helmet.

She says, "My Harley popped a flat down the road. Can I come in?"

Uncle Josh says, "Dear God, yes." As she walks by him and he turns for us to see his face I can tell he is now enamored with this girl. Well I hope this goes well for him.

I say to Cappie and Rusty, "Well I think his funk is over now."

Cappie says, "I think so too."

I look out the window at the weather and sigh. I say, "I don't think I'm making it to the ZBZ sleepover. I better call Casey and hope she doesn't flip on me."

Cappie says, "You didn't plan to get stuck here."

Rusty says, "Yeah, you can't control the weather."

I say, "I know, but you both know how Casey can be." They nod as I head upstairs to call Casey.

I go into Cappie's room and pull out my phone. Casey answers on the second ring. She says, "Hello?"

I say, "Hey Casey. I have some bad news."

She sighs and says, "What?"

I say, "The weather is too bad and it's starting to flood over here. I am so sorry. This is not at all what I planned. I was supposed to be back by now."

Casey says, "It's ok, I understand. You can't control the weather and I gave you permission to go to that party for a bit before you came to the sleepover. It's not your fault you are stuck there."

I say, "Thank you for understanding Casey. I hope everyone else does too."

Casey says, "I won't hold this against you and honestly neither will your pledge sisters or Frannie. We all know you do everything you can for ZBZ and if there was a way for you to be here you would be here."

I say, "I will see you tomorrow or maybe tonight if the weather clears up."

She says, "Don't put yourself in danger. It is ok if you stay there. We all understand."

I say, "Ok, well I hope you guys have fun."

She says, "Thanks, try to have fun there too." After that we hang up the phone and I prepare myself to make my next call. Rebecca is not going to be happy.

Rebecca answers after three rings. She says, "Where are you?"

I say, "Becca the weather is too bad and it's flooding over here. I am not going to be able to make it. I just got off the phone with Casey. I am so sorry. Please don't hate me, I really did try to be there. I was hoping the weather would clear up."

Becca sighs and says, "I don't hate you. If it isn't safe for you to get here, don't try to come. I'll manage through it without you. Have fun at your cool party while I am at this lame ass sleepover. I can't believe we had to miss an away game for this shit."

I say, "Well hopefully it won't be that bad. Just try to have fun or make the best of it. And don't hurt Casey, you don't need the law suit."

She says, "No promises. See you tomorrow, hopefully, have fun."

I say, "See you tomorrow. I hope the slumber party isn't as bad as you think it will be." We say bye and then hang up the phone. Well both of those phone calls went better than I thought they would. I quickly text my other pledge sisters and explain the situation to them. I even texted Jen K.

All my sisters said they understood and most were jealous that I got to miss the sleepover. They told me the same thing as Rebecca and Casey they would rather I be safe then take any risks getting there. ZBZ's can be petty at times, but we really all care for each other.

I head back downstairs to the party. I look around for Cappie and see him up by the band again. I head over to him. When I get over to Cappie Uncle Josh is walking up with the girl in leather. Uncle Josh says, "Welcome to Kappa Tau. I'm Josh your humble servant."

The girl says, "Josh, huh? Cute."

Uncle Josh says, "So I've been told. And uh, you are?"

She says, "Destiny." Pretty name.

Uncle Josh says, "Exotic. Cosmic. Me likey." Beaver and Rusty make their way over to us and now there are four of us standing behind Uncle Josh waiting to see if he will introduce us. Beaver clears his throat and Uncle Josh says, "These are other people. May I take your jacket?"

Destiny says, "Fine." She takes off her jacket and reveals a crop top that shows off her red bra. It's a cute top, but I think Uncle Josh and Beaver might pass out by the way they are staring at her.

Uncle Josh says, "Destiny you are.."

Uncle Josh is cut off by Destiny saying, "Thirsty. Pour me a drink?"

Uncle Josh says, "What would you like?"

Destiny says, "Something with a bite to it."

Uncle Josh says, "I'll get you something you can sink your teeth into."

When Uncle Josh leaves Beaver says, "So should we call someone?"

Destiny says, "Why?" I'll admit that is a little suspicious. How do you forget your motorcycle broke down that quickly?

Rusty says, "To fix your bike?"

Destiny says, "Oh, right. I'll let the storm blow over." Well now I really think she is up to something. Sometimes I think I am paranoid, because of my old friends, but I really think I need to trust my instincts. My instincts are telling me she is up to something.

Cappie says, "Are you a student?"

Destiny says, "You ask a lot of questions. Do I need to have my lawyer present?" another suspicious answer. She looks real serious when she says it, but then she starts laughing and says, "Kidding." I don't trust her.

Destiny goes on, "You learn to ask that in prison." If she was really in prison I don't really care, people deserve second chances. As long as she doesn't hurt my uncle we're good. Destiny laughs and says, "Kidding." Then she heads off in the direction Uncle Josh went.

I follow her and leave the boys behind. I say, "Hi, Destiny my name's Riley."

She turns to look at me and gives a brief smile as she says, "Hello, Riley."

I say, "I just want to say Josh is my Uncle and I love him very much. I know your Harley didn't pop a flat and that none of these boys will see through any lie you tell, but I do. I don't care if you are here to party or flirt with my Uncle."

I pause briefly to let that sink in then I continue, "But if you try to hurt my Uncle in any way just know I am not someone you want to be on the bad side of. I am very protective of my family and I will do whatever I have to, to keep them happy and safe. Something to think about as you go through the rest of this evening. I hope you enjoy the party and I really hope we won't have any problems."

She stares at me in shock as I give her one more long look before leaving her there. I turn away and head back over to Cappie and the other boys. Before I get over to Cappie my phone dings. I look at it and see it is a text from Casey.

The text is her ranting about Rebecca and telling me how Rebecca dropped Jen K. during the trust fall thing and how Rebecca stole her whole night. That I was expecting, what I was not expecting was for Casey to tell me Jen K. sent the video of Rebecca and Evan to Casey.

I don't want to be in the middle of any problems between Rebecca and Casey, but Rebecca needs to know Jen K. sent the video so she can make sure it is deleted and can't be held against her again. No one deserves to have something held over their head like that. I quickly text Rebecca and tell her about Jen K. then I put my phone away.

By the time I get over to the boys the power goes out. We pull out our phones to use as flashlights while we start pulling out candle the KT's keep in the house. The pledges start lighting all the candles and people grab them. Most everyone is holding their own candle or using their phone as a flashlight so there is plenty of light in the KT house.

Cappie is sitting in a chair and I am sitting in his lap. He says, "So what did you say to Destiny?"

I say, "Just that I knew she was lying about her Harley and that I love Uncle Josh, also that I am not an enemy she wants to make."

Cappie says, "You think she is lying about her Harley?"

I say, "Oh I know she is. I don't know why, but there is no point in telling Uncle Josh he is too obsessed with her already. He wouldn't believe me, so all I can do is keep an eye out and hope for the best."

Cappie says, "You are probably right he was in such a rut and he latched onto her because she is exciting and different. If you try to tell him it's a lie he won't want to believe it so he won't. Do you think she is here to cause problems?"

The lead singer of the band has started playing acoustic guitar and singing in the background as we are talking. I say, "I don't know, all we can do is keep our eye on things."

He nods and says, "I trust your judgment Riley. We'll keep an eye on her."

Before I can respond Rusty rushes over to us and says, "Riley I know you know something is off with Destiny. She just told me her name isn't Destiny that she went to camp with Josh. She drove here all the way from West Virginia to see Josh."

He takes a deep breath and goes on, "Her name was Patty in camp apparently she was fat in camp and she wants another chance with Josh. I told her we should tell Josh and she threatened me not to tell him because it would ruin her moment."

I look over to where Uncle Josh is dancing with Destiny or I guess Patty. I tell Rusty, "Go get Uncle Josh to come to his room without her. Tell him Beaver is peeing in his closet again. Cappie and I will meet you in his room."

Rusty nods and says, "I'm on it."

I turn to Cappie and say, "Let's head to Uncle Josh's room. I don't know if this is really sweet or if she is just really crazy."

Cappie says, "I kind of remember her from camp. If she is the same now as she was then, then I say it's leaning towards crazy. But people can change I guess."

We walk into Uncle Josh's room and wait for him and Rusty to arrive. Uncle Josh walks in and stops when he sees us there he says, "What are you guys doing here? Did you hear about Beaver too?"

I say, "Beaver didn't pee in your closet. I told Rusty to tell you that to get you in here so we could talk."

Uncle Josh looks confused as he says, "What do we need to talk about?"

Rusty rushes in and says, "Josh we don't have much time."

Uncle Josh says, "Oh, that's why we should always live in the moment."

Rusty says, "No, I mean until Destiny finds us."

I say, "Uncle Josh Rusty found out some things about Destiny and I want you to know them before you move forward with her."

Rusty says, "Destiny is not who you think she is."

Uncle Josh says, "She's not a hot girl?"

Rusty says, "No she is."

Uncle Josh says, "Then she's exactly who I think she is." Uncle Josh starts to leave the room.

I say, "Uncle Josh just listen to him please." Uncle Josh stops and turns back to look at us.

Rusty says, "You know her. She went to camp with you."

Uncle Josh says, "What?"

Rusty says, "Listen, I might die for telling you this, but her name isn't Destiny. It's Patty." Even if she actually threatened him, I don't think she would actually kill him. Crazy or not I don't think she would go that far for Uncle Josh.

Uncle Josh says, "Patty? From camp? The only Patty there was Patty the Fatty. Oh my God, she's Patty the Fatty!"

I say, "Uncle Josh first of all it's never ok to call someone that, but it's really not ok to say it now and remind her that kids are terrible."

Uncle Josh says, "You're right Riley. What are the odds that she'd get a flat tire outside of our house?"

I look at Cappie and say, "I swear he hasn't been this slow. Has he been like this since he started college?"

Cappie says, "No, he's too obsessed with her to see the obvious answer."

Uncle Josh says, "I'm standing right here. I can hear you."

Cappie and I look at each other then turn back to Uncle Josh and say, "We know."

Uncle Josh says, "Oh my God, she came to see me!"

Rusty says, "Yeah."

I say, "Took you long enough."

Rusty says, "She's always had a crush on you. She spent the past ten years getting in shape so you two could have a second chance."

Uncle Josh says, "That is really."

Rusty cuts him off and says, "Insane."

Uncle Josh says, "Hot."

Rusty says, "What?" I am actually not surprised the male brain works in weird ways. Let's see how this plays out.

Uncle Josh says, "A fat girl turned into a hot chick for me. It's like, it's like a Reese Witherspoon movie! She went through all that trouble just to get into shape, the least I can do is reward her for her effort, right?" I guess girls are not the only ones who ignore the red flags that are super obvious to literally everyone else.

Rusty says, "But she sounds crazy."

Uncle Josh says, "Crazy like a fox. A super hot fox in leather to be specific. I'm flattered. You need to relax."

Rusty says, "Listen. No Josh. I think she is dangerous. She's really strong and she's got these crazy eyes. She tried to."

Uncle Josh cuts him off, "Wow. You're really mowing that grassy knoll, huh? I think I can handle her Spitter." With that Uncle Josh hands Rusty the flashlight and leaves the room.

Rusty goes to say something else, but I cut him off. I say, "Rusty let him go he won't listen to anything anyone has to say. Just keep an eye on him and hope for the best possible outcome."

Rusty doesn't respond; he just rushes out to keep an eye on Uncle Josh. I turn to Cappie and say, "Do you want to go to your room and just have some alone time for a while. I think Rusty can keep an eye on Uncle Josh for a while."

Cappie says, "I would love nothing more than to spend some alone time with my beautiful Sunshine. Lead the way babe." We leave Josh's room and walk over to Cappie's room.

When we get to Cappie's room we set our lit candles down. It lit up the room just enough for us to see each other and most of our surroundings. We lay down on his bed, he lays with an arm behind his head and I lay my head on his chest. We just sit in silence for a while, it is a nice comfortable silence. It is an amazing feeling to just feel so at ease with someone that a silence between you isn't uncomfortable.

Cappie says, "Is being here better than being at the sleepover?"

I say, "I think so. The thing with Josh and Destiny or Patty I guess is a little bit much, but not nearly as much as things between Casey and Rebecca."

He says, "Yeah her coming all the way here years later and lying about who she is just to see Josh is a bit much. I hope it all works out for him."

I nod and say, "Me too." I lean up and kiss Cappie and we begin to make out. We continue to kiss and talk for a while. It was just nice to enjoy time with Cappie. We were interrupted by my phone going off. I check it to see I have a 911 text from Rusty. Apparently Patty/ Destiny is actually crazy and he needs help.

I quickly get up and say, "Cappie we have to go Patty is crazy and Rusty needs help lets go."

Cappie gets up too and we head back to Josh's room. We see Patty getting really close to Rusty with a pair of scissors and pictures cut up all over the floor. It looks like Patty cut all the females out of all the pictures. Before we can say anything Uncle Josh comes in behind us singing, "Camp Kitchi-Wa-Wa it's really fun."

Patty steps back and looks over at Uncle Josh and sings, "It's really fun, Camp Kitchi-Wa-Wa."

Uncle Josh keeps singing, "Our campers are the bravest ones."

Patty continues singing, "We don't write letters to our mamas." This sounds like a weird and lame camp.

Patty says, "You remembered me?"

Uncle Josh says, "Of course. From the moment you walked in. How could I ever forget the way the water glistened off your wonder woman bathing suit? Right Cap?" He had no idea until Rusty told him, but probably a good idea not letting her in on that. She would not be happy to know she was forgotten.

Cappie nods and says, "Of course. We could never forget you."

Patty says, "You didn't stand up for me! You let them call me names! Neither one of you helped me!" I could help, but I don't think she will actually stab someone and I want to see how they get themselves out of this one.

Uncle Josh says, "I know, and that was wrong."

Cappie says, "We were young and stupid."

Patty says, "Do you have any idea what it's like to love someone who has caused you so much pain?" Actually I think he kind of does, they both do. Uncle Josh does the unexpected and kisses Patty passionately. Well that's one way to do things. Patty lifts the scissors. I'm not sure what's going to happen next, but I am ready to step in.

Rusty yells, "Josh lookout!" Uncle Josh keeps kissing her and dips her which causes her to drop the scissors. I rush over and grab them just to be on the safe side.

When the kiss ends and Patty looks up at Uncle Josh she does not look impressed. Well now I feel bad for him and her. Uncle Josh looks pretty happy and confident in what just happened. Patty says, "That's it?"

Uncle Josh says, "Excuse me?"

Patty says, "I lost eighty pounds for that?" Well I hope on some level her decision to lose weight was more to do with her then with Uncle Josh. If it was just for Uncle Josh I feel for her it must be awful to have a dream be shattered.

Uncle Josh says, "I've never had any complaints before. Let me just try a better angle."

Patty backs up before he can kiss her and says, "Yeah, no, that's ok. Listen, it's been fun, but I really need a doughnut." Well this is awkward. She came all this way to be let down.

Uncle Josh says, "Stay in touch!" That's definitely not happening, but I don't have the heart to be the one to tell him that.

Patty says, "Uh-huh. Yeah." Well that should have told him she had no intention to stay in touch.

I say, "Well that was super awkward and uncomfortable. You guys seriously suck at saying the right thing at the right time. We really have to work on that."

Uncle Josh says, "What just happened?" After he asks, he walks right out of the room. I have no idea what just happened. This whole night has been absolutely insane.

I say to Cappie and Rusty, "What a night this has been." They both nod and we also made our way out of the room. We headed back down to the party. Rusty went and grabbed a radio and Cappie and I followed Uncle Josh over to the couch he sat on.

Uncle Josh says, "Could I be a bad kisser? It's like having a dangling booger, someone would tell me, right?" That is what he thinks the problem is? These boys are insane.

Rusty says, "Josh, you can't listen to what she said. She was crazy after all."

Uncle Josh says, "She wasn't crazy, she was in love. It's a fine line between the two."

I say, "No, Uncle Josh she wasn't in love. She was obsessed. She built this fantasy of you in her head. It wasn't real, she didn't want you. She wanted you to be the image she created. Nothing about any of this was real."

Rusty says, "Riley's right. She drove here from West Virginia to find you."

Uncle Josh says, "She went after what she wants. You have to admire that."

Rusty says, "What did it get her?"

Cappie says, "Closure."

Uncle Josh nods and says, "Now she can move on."

Before any of us can respond we hear Beaver say, "Guys look who I found!" We look over and see him with a big snake around his neck. We all begin to cheer.

I say, "Timmy!" Timmy is Beaver's pet snake. I named him.

Uncle Josh says, "Hey, Timmy!"

Beaver walks away saying, "I'm so glad I found you. Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?"

I grab Cappie's hand and say, "Let's go dance. It's been a crazy night, let's have some fun."

Cappie says, "Whatever you want sunshine."

We go and enjoy the rest of the party and convince Uncle Josh and Rusty to do so also. We have a great night and I am so happy we got to have a little fun after all the crazy. Adjusting to my new life isn't always easy, but I am having a blast doing it my way and on my time. I can't wait to see what else college has in store for me!
