Bo grunted as she placed the woman in the backseat and then climbed in and drove around to the other side of the building. "Take Lauren home. I will take care of the rest." She pulled up beside Noah's entourage. He had sent for more cars. Nice she thought. Noah nodded and they were all off. Nothing was left but the dust and rocks flying behind the vehicles.
Bo
Bo pulled over to the side and made a call. "Meet me outside, alone." She pulled off and sped up. She closed her eyes and opened them. She felt dumb and useless. She should have followed her instincts to look for Aife. Everything in her gut was telling her to drop Kenzi and the Dal and to follow it. She shook her head and pulled up to the building.
"Bo? Why did you say alone?." Trick asked.
Bo jumped out the truck and opened the back door. "Whatever you did to her when we fought, you need to do it again. She's not all there, so to speak."
"Aife? How? It's not possible. Every lead I had came up empty." Trick pulled the woman's hair from over her face.
"She wants me dead, Trick. You know that won't happen. Either you fix her or I will kill her. It is that simple." Bo folded her arms and watched the man struggle with his decision.
"I wrote in my blood, Bo. There are always consequences to that." Trick walked back and forth.
"She was working with Isaac Taft. A human. Find who worked with or knew about him. Bring them to me when you have. Don't do anything more than that with them, Trick." Bo watched Trick call someone and a few men showed up minutes later.
"She's your mother, Bo. Don't you want to see her?." Trick asked.
"She was coming for me and she would have gotten Lauren. No, I don't want to see her until she's sane again and ready to apologize". Bo jumped into her truck and sped off. She needed to get to Lauren. But not before she dumps the truck. She had to hotwire it to get it to run. She smiled when she approached Lauren's house. She gently knocked and was let inside.
"Where is she? How is she?." Bo asked.
"She's sleeping." Noah replied.
"Thanks for getting her back here." Bo looked around.
"I didn't do it for you. I don't do anything for you. She saved my life. I will spend the rest of it, protecting her and her interests. You are not one of them." Noah replied.
"Look. Lauren and I have a complicated relationship. We just need time and space to talk. If she doesn't want me around, I will go. But I care about her more than anyone walking this planet." Bo looked the man dead in his eyes.
"If Lauren gets her heart broken in any kind of way because of you, again. I won't be so, shall we say, calm. Now, go. Her bedroom is down this hall." Noah held his hand out so Bo knew which way to go.
Bo didn't say another word. She just walked down the hall and gently pushed the door open. The next sight, broke her heart. Lauren was sprawled across the bed, fully dressed. She hadn't even taken her jacket off. She never sleeps like that. The succubus walked over to the bed. "Lauren". She gently touched her. The blonde moved but didn't say anything. "Hey, let's get you up and into your pajamas." Bo gently touched her again.
"Bo?." Lauren's eyes popped open.
"Yes. It's me." Bo gently pulled Lauren's boots off.
"I can do that." Lauren finally sat up.
Bo frowned and stood. "Okay."
"So, where's your mother?." Lauren asked.
"With her father." Bo watched every move the woman made.
Lauren pulled her shirt off and revealed a tank top. Bo's eyes went wide at her arms. "Lauren!? Are you not eating like you should?."
"I'm fine, Bo." Lauren held her hand up.
"The hell you are! I will kill him!." Bo snapped.
"I am a grown woman. I can take care of that part of my life." Lauren fired back.
"Shower and we are going out to eat." Bo sat on Lauren's bed, crossing her legs and arms.
Lauren shook her head. Bo wasn't going to drop this. She wasn't going to leave. She's stuck there until the woman has showered and dressed again. The blonde rolled her eyes and pulled an outfit from the closet. "Are you going to watch me dress, too?."
"I'll be right outside the door. Don't forget I know how long it takes you to shower and dress." Bo walked like a soldier to the door and closed it behind her. She knocked to let the doctor know she meant what she said.
Lauren stared at the door and walked to the bathroom. Thirty minutes later, she opened the door. Bo nearly fell in backwards. "I'm ready." Lauren looked at her.
Bo looked her up and down. "You certainly are!." She smiled. Lauren cleared her throat. "Right, dinner." Bo smiled as they walked through the living room. "I'm taking Lauren out for dinner. Don't fight me on this. Your way is making her waste away." Bo didn't say another word as Noah watched them go. He nodded for one truck to tail them but not to interfere unless Lauren needed them.
"Bo this really isn't necessary." Laure sighed.
"It is necessary, Lauren. You are losing weight. You were never that big to begin with. Now, what do you want for dinner?." Bo asked.
"I don't know, pick something and I will find something." Laure threw her hands in the air.
"I'm just trying to make sure that you are okay, Lauren. That's all." Bo side-eyed the woman and turned her attention back to the road.
"I'm fine, Bo. I've been fine. Earlier doesn't change anything. There was a threat and on your word, that threat is in the right hands." Lauren waved her hands like she was writing something.
"How long have you known he is the Blood King?." Bo asked.
"I was his personal doctor for years. We only met privately about it at the Dal." Lauren answered.
"Lauren, you are the smartest person I have ever met. How do you not know?!." Bo rolled her eyes.
"I know you love me, I just don't believe it anymore." Lauren shrugged.
"I don't know why you don't." Bo whispered. "This is about us. It has always been about us. Ever since I met you. I didn't want Dyson. Hell, I didn't want any of them. They were just beds to hide in because I couldn't be in yours. Even when I never knew you existed. I was ready to run when I saved Kenzi. That was before I met you. When I did, I never wanted to run again. I wanted us to date, slowly. Then the Ash happened. I am not blaming you for that. I know your body spoke the truth when your Light Fae ward mouth couldn't. You came to talk to me on his behalf, but we really talked in my bed. I know I asked for our relationship. I was fully committed to it too. I still am. You are the love that I found when I thought I couldn't love. It's new. It's exciting. It's warm. It's what I want for as long as we live. I can't live. Not without you. Dyson died because of me in my Dawning. I had to bring him back. I did say he looked good in scrubs. He did. I'm a succubus. I say things like that. But I never once told him I love him. Not like the countless times I've told you. You don't have to believe it right now. But it is in here. It will be in here, waiting for you to believe it."
"Bo...". Lauren sighed into her hands.
"I said it will be waiting, Lauren. Right now, we are going to be waited on." Bo parked her car and rounded to the doctor's side. "They have a huge variety and a patio deck."
Lauren climbed out and walked into the restaurant with Bo behind her. "Booth for two outside." Bo nodded.
They quietly ate and Bo kept ordering more food for Lauren. Lauren declined the last plate. "Give it to the guy sitting on the street. I will still pay for it." Bo pointed. The women sat staring at each other. The waiter brought their check and Bo paid it. "When you're ready." She looked at Lauren. Lauren finished her drink and stood. Bo smiled and walked behind her again as they walked out. She drove Lauren home in deep silence. The doctor thanked her for the meal and walked into her bedroom.
"What did I miss?." Noah asked.
"We talked. That's all. But if she loses another pound, you and I will talk on another level." Bo looked at Lauren's door, then Noah.
"You can go. I got this." Noah stood and walked out of the house.
Bo ran after him. "You're leaving!?."
"Lauren likes her privacy. I don't have to sleep in there to protect her. I have people all over this area. If you listen, you will hear them." Noah jumped into a jeep and Bo watched it drive off.
Bo closed her eyes and listened. She did hear growls. A lot of them. "Your wolf is a bitch. Nobody will come here." A voice came from behind her.
"If anything happens to Lauren, I will make you my bitch." Bo spoke softly and jumped into her car. Noah is right. Lauren needs space. She will get it too since Bo has other things to tend to.
Lauren
Lauren sat in her room staring at the wall. How did her life come to this? She was working cases for the Light Fae while pursuing a cure for Nadia. Then she met the dark haired Fae. Her life isn't supposed to be here. She's supposed to be with Nadia somewhere. But she fell in love with that dark haired Fae long before Nadia woke up.
Now she sits. Staring at a wall with pictures of both women flashing on it. It is a lie. It's all lies. She doesn't love Nadia anymore. She can't love her. Even if she was still alive. Bo. There is so much that comes with loving Bo. A spotlight. A doctor has never craved the spotlight. They work. They go home. They try to find some downtime. Bo was Lauren's downtime until her life picked up.
Trick said Bo's Dawning was early. Centuries early. What else will come early? What else could and would come between them, should she reconcile with her? She shook her head and walked to the bathroom and threw cold water on her face. She needs to get out of her head about this. She needs downtime. This time it won't be with the public. It will be with her bed.
Bo and Trick
"Where is she?." Bo asked.
"Resting." Trick sighed.
"Did it work?." Bo asked.
"I haven't tried it." Trick shook his head.
"Then I will handle her. You won't like my way." Bo turned.
"Bo, don't. We'll find another way." Trick grabbed her arm.
"You don't get it, Trick. Perhaps you don't want to. She was coming for me. In case you have forgotten, I love Lauren. Like it or not, I do. If anyone comes for me, they will come for her. That will never be tolerated. But you have a bigger problem in your cage. She was coming for Lauren too. She's dead where she stands." Bo turned around and threw a bottle against the wall.
"Don't go near Aife!." Trick screamed as he watched Bo walk towards his other rooms.
Bo walked slowly into one room. Aife was strapped down from her head to her fingertips. She gritted her teeth and left that room for another. She walked into Tamsin's room and wasn't as quiet. She threw whatever she could get her hands on to wake the woman up. "You better start talking but know I won't fall for any sob story shit. How you didn't know what you were doing or who she was!."
"Bo, look I had a job to do." Tamsin rambled.
"A job?! Nobody hired you to do shit! Get used to this cage. I will be your only visitor. I will come here whenever I want." Bo turned around.
"It's your dad, Bo!." Tamsin screamed.
"Yep. You're dead. Enjoy your last meal." Bo spat.
"Death will be welcome but I will return. That's why I was sent for you. Sent to get the dark Queen." Tamsin looked to the ground.
"You're still dead. I will see to your last death, personally." Bo walked out.
Tamsin dropped to the floor in her desperate need to stay alive, she had agreed to find Bo. She never really thought the woman was alive much less in human form. It's a job. Stick to your job. Bo said she's sending a succubus. That could only mean Aife in this territory. Great, she thought. There's no way she will melt that dead heart.
Bo and Trick.
"Wake Aife. I have a job for her." Bo tapped Trick on his shoulder. He had his head down on the bar top and his eyes were closed.
"Bo, you know I can't do that. She's not well." Trick sighed.
"I don't need her to be well for this." Bo snapped.
"What are you talking about, Bo?." Trick asked.
"Tamsin was sent for me, which meant she was sent for Lauren. She's dead. But the bitch said if I kill her, she will come back again. She said my father sent her. Waking Aife will not only confirm his identity, it will also give her a chance at a little justice of her own." Bo pulled Trick by his tie when it looked like he was about to stall again. "Put this on." She dropped the necklace in his hand.
"Mom. Dad's here." Bo whispered and watched as blue eyes popped open. The succubus struggled against her restraints.
"Take them off of her!." Bo screamed.
Trick worked as fast as he could and Aife ripped the last two off. "Where?." She seethed.
"Follow me." Bo gestured. The room shook with the power of a succubus. Bo knows that feeling because the club house has done that many times with hers.
"That's not your father!." Aife screamed.
"She said she was sent by him to get me. Now, I can kill her but I thought you'd like to have a little fun. She said she will die and come back, I will kill her then." Bo's voice was emotionless. It had been since she told Lauren she loves her earlier.
Aife walked to the cage and pulled Tamsin to her. "Nobody comes for my baby, but me!." She screamed and drained the Valkyrie. Tamsin didn't fight back or struggle. She knows her next life is days away. Aife dropped her to the floor still chained.
"Stay away, Isabeau. His blood is cursed!." Aife screamed as she walked out to Trick writing in his book. Soon after the succubus collapsed in Bo's arms. "Put her in a better bed." She gently put Aife down on Trick's bar couch.
Bo turned back to Trick once more. "Tamsin is to stay in that cage. You let her out just once and I will burn this bar down with you and her in it."
"Bo! She will be a child!." Trick screamed.
"She is evil and besides, she's not my child." Blue eyes flared at Trick and turned back to brown.
Hours later
"Ewww. What happened here?." Dyson asked.
"Yeah, what he said." Kenzi waved her hand in the air.
"There's been a death." Trick replied.
"Who?!." Kenzi and Dyson asked.
"Tamsin. She's gone." Trick scratched the back of his head.
"What? Why?." Dyson asked.
"Follow the bouncing ball. Tamsin died because was sent for Bo and tried to kill Lauren. Bo released Aife long enough for her to kill the Valkyrie. Aife is resting again and Tamsin is dead." Trick explained.
"Shit. We missed a lot." Kenzi looked around the room.
"Where is Aife?." Dyson asked.
"Nowhere you will find her." Trick walked away leaving the two stunned and staring at each other.
Bo
Bo left the bar and went for a drive. Kenzi and Dyson had both been texting her. She doesn't need them in her head for what she is about to do. She parked and climbed out to sit on the hood. It was getting cooler out. But she needs the fresh air. She had a busy night and day.
But none of it is as important to her as her time with Lauren. She doesn't believe Bo loves her. It is like breathing to Bo. She is always feeling it. Knowing it. While she's glad she met the woman, she's saddened that she couldn't spend as much time with her as she had liked to and still wants to. Fuck the Fae, she thought. If it is not one thing, it is another. Many times she had driven by the Light Fae compound and never knew what it was. She imagined nights Lauren would have walked out of there and into one of the Ash's cars to take the short drive to her loft. She could have called out to her. Met her on the street, had she known this wonderful woman breathed in this horrible world. Bo was a killer. Lauren was a healer. For years. Years they lived not knowing each other. When Lauren kissed Bo for the first time she knew. She knew it was going to be more. She knew she was going to fall for this woman and she did. Now, she sits in her feelings. She hopes Lauren is sitting that way too. "Believe Lauren. Please, believe."
