Welcome to UA Arc

The entrance to UA was filled with hopeful students from different middle schools ready to take the entrance exam.

Katsuki stood at the center of it all, looking up at the school with a determined expression.

"Alright guys, this is it. We've been training for this, let's go in and show these extras what real heroes look like!"

Himiko crossed her arms, "What makes you think you're the leader?"

"Last time I checked, I wasn't the one who became an Internet sensation by fighting All Might in a public beach."

They both looked at Izuku, who just stood there flustered. "Are you guys ever going to let that go?"

"No." They both answered.

Izuku coughed into his fist, "Alright! Time to take the exams!" He took one step forward.

Then he tripped.

Black tendrils whipped out of his arms and wrapped around Katsuki's and Himiko's faces.

"Again with this? I thought you got a good handle on your quirk after the Ping Pong incident?" Katsuki complained.

"At least we didn't fall down with him this time." Himiko pointed out.

Katsuki removed blackwhip from his eyes like they were a blindfold, "Good point. Deku, did you lose weight?"

Izuku was floating.

"What the hell?"

"Umm, that was my quirk."

The three friends looked behind them to see another student. Izuku couldn't help but notice she had pads on her fingers. His mind was already trying to analyze her quirk.

"Sorry to use my quirk without permission."

Izuku's friends helped him on his feet, then she released her quirk.

"But I thought it would be bad luck to trip before the exams."

"I honestly don't believe in luck anymore. But thanks anyway!" Izuku smiled.

"Okay, let's do our best!" With those words of encouragement, she left.

Izuku said, "Her quirk was pretty interesting, huh?"

"Izuku, you can just ask her about her quirk yourself." Himiko said. "You don't have to try and over analyze it."

"I'm still not used to talking to people my same age who aren't you two…" Izuku mumbled.

Katsuki and Himiko exchanged glances, the two of them weren't exactly the best at small talk either.

Izuku was standing at the gates of a fake city.

'Man they have a lot of money…'

Izuku spotted the girl from earlier. He thought about what Himiko said, he probably needed to learn how to talk to other teenagers if he was going to get into UA.

He started walking towards her direction but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.

"She's trying to focus, I suggest you leave her be."

'Crap! It's the guy that put me on blast in front of everyone!'

Boy, were Katsuki and Himiko not happy about that.

The taller student kept talking, "You're not trying to distract her are you? In fact, you don't look like an examinee… Your eyes are too feral to belong to any student…"

'Why does everyone keep saying that about my eyes?'

From atop his perch Present Mic yelled, "And Go!"

With that, Izuku took off, leaving the other examinees behind.

Inside a dark room sat a group of (pro hero) teachers, watching the examinees with camera monitors.

Toshinori was seated to one side, keeping watch on his protege. Sitting next to him was Tohru, surprisingly.

"Seriously, I can't believe you waited until now to tell me you were going to be a teacher! You trynna keep Izuku for yourself?"

Toshinori sighed, "It's not like that. Besides, you're one to talk, you forced yourself in here the moment you heard about it."

The other teachers watched with amused expressions at their argument.

("A lover's quarrel?")

"Oh, she didn't force herself in here, I invited her."

Everyone's head turned towards the entrance, where a small figure stood.

"But who am I? Am I a dog, a bear? I'll tell you! I'm-"

"A Fresno nightcrawler with arms?" Tohru asked.

"What? No… The principal!" Principal Nezu the mouse (bear?(wombat?!)) cheered.

("Cool it with the other worlder lingo. Remember, Naomasa said that the chief asked us not to mention the other world to Nezu." Toshinori whispered.

"Right-right, sorry.")

"So… are you a platypus?"

Izuku found himself in the middle of a street. There were examinees destroying bots all around him.

"Alright, twenty points. That should be enough right?" Izuku mumbled.

"28!"

"32"

"45."

He heard some of the other examinees call. 'Well, then... I still have time to catch up!'

"One minute left!"

'Maybe not…'

A rumble in the area froze the examinees in their tracks. From underneath the ground a giant robot makes its entrance. The examinees watched in awe as the robot placed an arm on a nearby building, crushing the top floors with its fingers.

'That's the zero pointer?! It's way too big!'

The zero pointer raised the other arm and swung downwards, using overwhelming force to destroy the ground in front of it. The examinees fled the other way.

Izuku stood frozen for a second. He managed to snap himself out of it to turn the other way.

"...Ow."

But stopped when he heard a pained groan. There was the nice girl from earlier, trapped under some rubble. Izuku moved before he could think. He ran past the taller student from earlier but didn't notice him, the student watched as Izuku ran past to help another examinee.

"Hey, are you alright? No, sorry, terrible thing to say, of course you're not. (God, I suck at this.) Here, let me help." Izuku rambled.

With Full Cowling he tried picking up the rubble pinning the girl, but it wouldn't budge. "Alright, ten percent!" He strained his quirk and attempted again, but it still wouldn't budge. "Damnit, okay, wait here, I'll try to see if I can use blackwhip as a pulley, have you seen any wheels around?"

The rumbling got closer.

"Damnit, nevermind, time to improvise!"

Izuku shot tendrils from each arm, grabbing a hold of two buildings in front of him. He yanked against the tendrils, stretching them, leaned backwards to angle his aim, then slingshotted himself towards the zero pointer's head.

"This is going to hurt! But if I don't do this other's will get hurt! One for All, 50 percent!"

Izuku threw his punch at the zero pointer, caving the head in and throwing the robot backwards. He stopped the robot at the cost of his arm.

Izuku clutched his limp limb, "Ow… Oh, right, I have to land."

Izuku watched the approaching ground, 'Ten percent on my legs? It'll break them when I land… but I'll land? A Detroit smash? I haven't had the opportunity-'

Suddenly blackwhip lashed out from his uninjured arm and grabbed a building's ledge, swinging him to safety. Izuku landed clumsily on his feet.

"...That was my next idea." Blackwhip disappeared back into his arms with satisfaction.

He noticed the nice girl from earlier had managed to free herself from the rubble.

"Hey, are you alright? Damn, why do I keep asking that?"

The girl breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm fine thanks, you saved- blech!" Then she threw up all over his shoes.

...

'I mean, she's alive…so… Mission accomplished?'

"So… how does your quirk work?"

The principal, Toshinori and Tohru were standing in the hallway outside the monitor room.

"You were the one who invited Kobayashi-san, Nezu?" Toshinori asked.

"Yup, don't underestimate me All Might, I'm the smartest being on this planet. I already know who she is." Nezu gloated.

Toshinori and Tohru both tensed up. Was her identity as an other worlder revealed already?

"Why, she's the mother dragon of the 'Dragon duo'!" Nezu guessed correctly.

"...Kind of."

"I don't know why you wouldn't introduce her to me earlier. Why wouldn't I want to meet the mother of your successor? Especially if she's skilled enough to keep up with you to help train him."

"Actually, she's not-"

Tohru interrupted, "You mentioned a job opportunity in your invitation."

"Yes, indeed. I know you have a bodyguard license for your son. You're allowed to attend classes with him, if you're also willing to protect the other students if need be. You can think of yourself as a sort of teacher's assistant." Nezu explained.

"Hmm, okay. I guess it'll be better than getting a part time job at a maid cafe again." Tohru agreed.

Toshinori said, "Wait, you're talking like Izuku got accepted into UA already."

Nezu chuckled, "Of course All Might, I have no doubt your successor will pass the exams. Why, I predict he's destroying the zero pointer right about-"

Present Mic poked his head out of the door, "Hey Nezu, you might want to see this! One of the examinees just totaled a thwomp!"

Power Loader wailed, "Whyyyy?!"

Nezu cheered, "Looks like I'm needed." He entered the monitor room.

"You're really taking up that job offer?" Toshinori asked.

"Of course! I can't let you have Izuku for yourself!" Tohru argued.

Toshinori sighed, "That's… fair, I guess. Well, we better head inside."

"Wait, hold on." Tohru reached for something in her pocket. She grimaced, "Here…" She handed something to him.

Toshinori grabbed the object, "A pendant? I'm not really a jewelry guy-"

"It's magic. Remember back in America? When you transformed back into that Mannegishi looking thing…"

"You mean my current form?"

"Anyway, I thought, well, you should have this. It casts an illusion over the wearer."

Toshinori put the pendant around his neck. When he looked down he realized he had buffed up in his All Might form.

"What-?"

"I realized back in America that your form being exposed would cause problems for Izuku, so I took the time to make that for you. Since you seem too dumb to be able to hide it yourself."

"Thank you Kobayashi-san! This is so thoughtful!"

All Might swept her into a hug.

Tohru growled, "Fine, you get two seconds…"

"Really, thank you for-"

"That's two seconds! Let go already!"

Tohru pushed him away and wiped herself down with disgust.

Toshinori eyed the pendant, "How does this even work?"

"It uses your blood, remember when I stabbed you in the calf with my friendship knife two months ago?"

"Yes, I still have the scar."

"Izuku ate the hair strand anyway, I decided not to let the blood go to waste... So it's only tied to you, no one else can cast the illusion. It's pretty much your version of Himiko's Transform, except... You can only transform into your Sasquatch form. Just touch it with intent to turn it on and off."

He did just that, switching between both forms easily, no puff or smoke, and most importantly, no strain. "Amazing."

"Don't go overboard with that. Think of it as a curtain that hides your true form. With this you can puff up and down in public, that way you don't have to be constantly using your already limited time limit." Tohru explained.

"This is perfect! Thank you-"

"If you hug me again, I will stab your eyes!" Tohru threatened with her knife.

Inside the monitor room.

"We've got quite the crop this year it seems."

"Lot's of potential, ey, Shota?"

"How many times do I have to tell you not to wake me up while I'm half awake…"

"Lots of interesting quirks, especially that kid that broke the zero pointer."

"I'll have my revenge…"

"Then there's that kid that got 77 villain points alone."

Nezu announced, "It sounds like we have a good idea of who to pick for our hero courses!"

Aizawa spoke up, "Of course we do… The scoreboard is right there, we just pick the top 36 like we always do…"

Nezu asked, "Something you want to share with us, Aizawa?"

"Only the same thing I've been saying every year. The exams are completely irrational."

"I hear you, Aizawa, I really do."

"That's what you say every year."

"So this year I want to try a new experiment, each hero class will have 21 students enrolled!"

"...I'm listening…" At this point Aizawa was slowly removing his sleeping bag.

"It's so unfair for hopeful students to get passed over for a chance at being a hero just because the exams were designed with robots."

"You designed the exams." Aizawa grumbled.

"So I ask for Aizawa and Vlad to choose one student each from the failed examinees." Nezu requested.

Every teacher in the room turned to Aizawa.

"What are you all looking at?" He asked warily.

"You're the one always complaining about potentially powerful quirks slipping past our attention." Midnight said.

"Now's your chance to make things right, unless you want another kid to be unfairly sent to general ed." Snipe drawled.

"...so his name is Midoriya…" Power Loader mumbled to himself.

Mic said, "Why should we bother with Aizawa's class? The guy's got a Kanto region sized expulsion list, with an extra grass starter line, he's only going to get some kid's hopes up if he were to choose an extra student, then expel him the first day!"

"Was that a video game reference?" Ectoplasm asked.

Mic smirked, "Yeah, of course! You didn't think Power Loader was the one who nicknamed the zero pointers as thwomps?"

"Her name was Big Bertha!"

The teachers started murmuring to each other in agreement about Mic's previous comment.

Aizawa glared. "You know what? Fine, I won't pick. Just give me the regular twenty."

"That's the spirit, Aizawa! That's why I already picked a student for you!" Nezu said with giddy.

He handed Aizawa a profile of a student, then pulled up footage of the student on the monitors.

Nezu presented, "Hitoshi Shinso, his quirk is powerful. But not suited for robots. He's a perfect fit for your class, Aizawa!"

"Fine." Aizawa finally relented.

"Vlad, have you picked anyone?" Nezu asked the other teacher.

"No, I'm still picking between two examinees." Vlad said while glancing at two profiles.

"Okay, while we wait, I'd like to go over something else with you all!" Nezu announced.

Aizawa, crawling back into his sleeping bag, asked, "What could it be this time?"

"First, can someone check on our guest?"

Mic opened the door a crack to peer outside, "The dragon lady is currently chasing All Might with a knife."

"Get back here!"

"Not the eyes!"

Nezu nodded, "Okay good, while she's distracted, I'd like to announce that, for the duration of one Izuku Midoriya's enrollment, Tohru Kobayashi will be attending classes with him in 1-A!"

"Why my class?!" Aizawa grumbled.

"She has a bodyguard license for him, I've allowed her to attend classes as well if she also protects the other students."

"We don't need a bodyguard… I don't think… This seems very unconventional. What are you up to?" Aizawa asked skeptically.

Nezu chuckled darkly, "Oh my sweet Aizawa, you know me so well..."

All the teachers in the room were thinking the same thing, 'Oh no…Here we go…'

"Up until three years ago, our special guest didn't exist." Nezu revealed.

He had piqued the staff's interest… But then lost it again as he kept rambling.

"Let me start from the beginning. The chief of police has been hiding something from me. And he thinks I haven't noticed. A detective named Tsukauchi who works for him is in on it. The detective and All Might have a connection."

The connection being All Might's condition and One for All, but he believes the chief isn't in on that. Meaning they're hiding an even bigger secret.

"While All Might and Kobayashi-san don't have a friendly relationship, they both compete for Midoriya's attention, who I believe is also in on the secret."

Aizawa fell asleep.

"...And that's where the connections stop, putting me at a dead end. Until I discovered the previously mentioned non-existence. Three years ago, the chief of police was going out of his way to not only register Kobayashi-san's quirk, but her citizenship as well…"

At this point Power Loader was mumbling to himself, not as bad as Nezu's current rambling, but some of the teachers were starting to get nervous standing in a room with two mad men.

"But he wasn't trying to register her citizenship, he was re-registering it... and that's when I discovered, Kobayashi-san herself is the secret. Her true identity is being kept under wraps, and All Might thought he could hide it by claiming she was the mother of Midoriya."

All Might never said she was, he just wasn't given the chance to correct Nezu.

"She's an enigma, a puzzle with missing pieces. And while she's here in UA I plan to solve it. None of this is to leave this room, obviously, and I ask for you all to fill me in on anything incriminating you may find out about her. Because I will find out what they're hiding!"

As the room was filled with Nezu's insane laughter the UA staff in the room exchanged glances. They didn't want to subject their innocent guest to Nezu's 'eccentricity', but they realized he was keeping himself busy with whatever conspiracy he thinks he's stumbled upon. They all silently agreed on the same thing, even if they found anything suspicious about Kobayashi-san they were going to keep silent about it. If only to keep Nezu distracted with this new hobby.

They all know how chaotic Nezu can get when he's bored.

Vlad, trying to change the topic, spoke up. "Uh, I finally made my choice." He held up an examinee's profile, "I'll choose Himiko Toga for my class, she has remarkable skill with her knife, has a quirk and a technique for stealth, and is shown to have the ability to copy the quirk of those she's transformed into."

Footage on the monitors shows Himiko taking the exam, showing off the previously mentioned skill set.

"Are you sure you're not picking her because of her quirk being blood related?" Midnight asked teasingly.

"That may be part of it, yes…" Vlad answered. "Plus, I believe she would have placed higher had she not been put in the same exam site as examinee Fumikage Tokoyami."

"Looks like ~Tokoyami~ isn't going to Vlad's class…" Midnight whispered.

Mic checked the footage again. "Can she copy any quirk? Because she's only shown transforming into two people, examinee Katsuki Bakugou and our dragon lady Kobayashi-san- oh crap…"

The teachers flinched when Nezu's evil laughter abruptly stopped when he snapped his neck towards the monitors.

Himiko is shown on the monitor transforming into Tohru, sniffing the air around her, then releasing the transformation to run another direction.

"Interesting…" Nezu murmured.

"Yeah, who knew Kobayashi was hiding a figure like that under her maid dress…" Midnight commented, noticing that Himiko's tracksuit was a little too tight on Tohru's body.

Nezu checked the profiles of Izuku, Katsuki, and Himiko, noticing that they all attend the same middle school.

"The inner circle expands… Deepening the mystery…" Nezu cackled madly.

From outside the monitor room, All Might's yell could be heard, "Ow! My other calf!"

Midnight put a hand to her cheek, "Is no one going to mention that the two extra students are minis of their teachers?"

"What do you mean?" Mic asked.

"Toga has a blood related quirk like Vlad. And Shinso…"

Aizawa glared, "Say it. I dare you…"

"Shinso… looks like he would be really into cats…"

←/↓\→

A week later Toshinori arrived at his successor's apartment. He had Izuku's and his friend's acceptance letters in hand, but he decided to make the announcement himself as a surprise. With a deep breath, he entered the apartment.

Then heard Izuku's voice, "What do you mean you're going to work at UA?!"

Toshinori sighed, "Kobayashi-san, we agreed to wait to tell him our surprises together."

Tohru smiled, "Sorry, I couldn't wait. Besides, it's not like I told them you were going to be a teacher there."

"All Might is going to be a teacher?!"

"Oh, whoops!" Tohru stuck her tongue out giggling.

Toshinori sighed, "Anyways, yes, I've been hired into the UA staff. That's why I've been out of contact the past week. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you before my boy."

"It's fine, I understand. I'm sorry Tohru ruined the surprise." Izuku said.

Tohru continued to smile cheekily.

"I guess you can already tell the next news but, I'd be remiss if I didn't deliver it with theatrics…" Toshinori figured this was a good time to use his 'All Might pendant' pendant.

'Need to come up with a better name for that.'

In his buff form, he announced, "Katsuki Bakugou, you have shown great tenacity, and a warrior's spirit. You have scored the most villain points. Himiko Toga, your refined skills and talent has impressed the staff of UA, you were chosen specifically over others."

Katsuki grinned, and Himiko smiled.

"Izuku Midoriya, the exam wasn't just for villain based points. There was another factor, rescue points! With this we are able to evaluate you on both your skill and heroic actions!"

Izuku's chest tightened, even after everything he's been through he couldn't believe the words he heard.

"Izuku, Katsuki, Himiko… you've all passed! Welcome to your hero academia!"

Izuku decided to let the tears go, he didn't care, he knew his friends would understand.

As he tried to wipe away at his face Katsuki had placed a hand on his shoulder, grinning wildly. "Told ya you had nothing to worry about!"

Himiko hugged him from behind, caught between cheering for him and kissing every part of his face she could reach. "We did it!"

Then Tohru walked up to him, Izuku looked up to the first person to believe in his dreams. The dragon who gave him the most help, who went out of her way for the smallest things. The dragon who he, despite never wanting to admit it (because he had no idea how she would react), had come to accept as his impromptu, eccentric, dragon mom.

Tohru patted his head, "I'm proud of you, son." She smiled.

Izuku smiled through the tears.

Then Tohru pumped her first into the air, "Yes! I said it first! In your face, All Might!"

"No fair! I was waiting until he graduated! No wait, I can still say it!" All Might brought everyone into a group hug. "I'm proud of you son!"

Through his choked sobs, Izuku couldn't help but laugh at his family's 'eccentricity'.

"Fine, you get five seconds this time…" Tohru grumbled.

"Oh right, I still have your acceptance letters, the staff didn't send you the holograms since I said I would welcome you three myself."

"Holograms?"

"Not important, these letters have your exam results."

Despite losing his chance to surprise Izuku and his friends, All Might had accidentally given them each a different sort of surprise.

"What do you mean Deku beat me by three points?!"

"What do you mean I'm going to 1-B?!"

"Why is my letter just a death threat?!"

Author's note: Don't get mad, but...

Himiko wasn't originally planned for this story.

I'd say... a week before I started writing this story I was having trouble deciding on how I would title these chapters.

Either in the Person A and Person B format from the Dragon Maid manga

Or the short sentence (other sentence but in parenthesis) format from the Dragon Maid anime

And while I was trying to choose between those two formats the phrase 'Blonde Luck' popped into my brain

I decided to use the anime format for the prologues and the manga format for the chapter names, because no way im writing long chapter names like that every time

Then I decided to use 'Blonde Luck' as the arc name

but

I never planned to name the arcs. My simple minded brain just really wanted to use the phrase 'Blonde Luck'

So from now on the arcs are going to be very unoriginally titled

And I decided to add Himiko to round out the number of blondes. Originally, she wouldn't have shown up until her canon appearance. She wasn't shipped with Izuku, but it was hinted at as dialogue between the two during their first confrontation would suggest that Izuku was weirdly okay with the yandere thing

And all of his friends watching would be like "Ay yo Deku, you good?"
