Author's Note: I do not own Naruto.

Naruto had been having a great morning until he received a summons to the Hokage's office along with a note vaguely detailing what the problem was and how it could be fixed. As soon as he read the note his whole day turned sour. He no longer wanted to make sure all of the preparations were taken care of for his team's departure. He no longer wanted to check to see if they would be getting a third member. He no longer wanted to go get his favorite ramen for lunch and dinner (He had already eaten breakfast there by now). No, the only thing he wanted was to go back to bed and forget all about the problems that were on his doorstep. But Naruto could not do that. No, he had made Hinata a promise that if she passed the genin exam then he would be there to help her become a strong and powerful ninja and leader of this village, and he always kept his promises. After all that was his nindo.

So, without any hesitation he made his way to the Hokage's tower. As he approached the door, he thought that maybe this meeting would be important enough for him to show his respect and be professional, but that thought was quickly dismissed from his mind. For if there was thing, he knew it was the fact that he would never pretend to be something he was not just to kiss up to someone. With that he flung open the door and entered.

"Hey Old Man! You sent for me?" Naruto asked while taking a quick glance at Hiashi Hyuga.

"Yes, I did, Naruto. Please join us." He said motioning to a chair next the Hyuga Head. "ANBU, wait outside and make sure that we are not interrupted." He commanded. Immediately following his orders four ninjas in masks exited the room. As soon as they had departed Hiruzen activated several seals around the room in order to keep the conversation completely private.

"Now, Naruto this man here" gesturing to Hiashi "is Hiashi Hyuga head of the Hyuga clan and Hinata's father." Naruto nodded his head in the man's direction. "Hiashi has a few concerns that he has brought to my attention concerning his daughter being on your team. That's why I sent for you and made the request in my note. So, Naruto my boy, what's your answer?"

Hiashi was perplexed as to what the request was, but he sat there in silence figuring it all would be made known to him soon enough.

"Well," Naruto began. "before I grant or deny the request, I would like to hear why Hiashi feels like I'm not good enough as an instructor for his daughter? Because I sure as hell know it has nothing to do with my skill. All of the clan heads by now have heard of my reputation and who trained me." Naruto finished in a menacing and dark tone. He was mad that the Old Man felt the need to send such a request to him, and he was even more mad that Hiashi felt the need to request a new Sensei for his daughter who as far as he could tell never gave her the emotional support that she needed.

"Well, Uzumaki-san it has nothing to do with the Kyubi if that is what you are thinking. I honestly have no opinion that matter. I understand why you are feared and hated, but I am also not naive enough to think that the Fourth Hokage would seal an incredibly powerful and dangerous entity without being certain that it would be contained." He stated.

After a moment of silence in which the Hyuga Head allowed Naruto to digest what he had said, he began to explain all about Hinata's precarious situation. After he finished his explanation, he decided to end with one last statement. "However, Uzumaki-san I have been informed by Hokage-sama that you are actually the reason why Hinata gained enough confidence to even pass the exam. So, for that you have my eternal gratitude. I know that I have failed her as a father in a lot of ways, but despite that I am determined as ever to protect her from being cast out of the main house into the side branch. That is why I cannot allow you to be near her. No matter what promise you made, and no matter how much you helped her already."

"Hiashi-sama," Naruto began. This definitely got the Hyuga Head's attention. He didn't know Naruto well, but he did know that if he was resorting to formalities than what he had to say next was definitely important. "I have one, maybe two, more questions for you to consider before I really delve into why I came here. If she stays with me then she is doomed to have the curse seal placed upon her now, but I can almost assure you that she sees me as her only source of confidence. So, if you take her away from my tutelage then I doubt that she will be able to change very much over the course of six months. I mean I believe in her completely, but she doesn't believe in herself at all. As far as I observed she believes that I am the only person that actually believes in her. Besides nothing is for certain. Your council may still decide to give her the six months' time before making a final choice despite who her sensei is. Would you really rather see her struggle for the next six months with no confidence and self-loathing under a different teacher only to end up sealed anyways? Or would you rather give her a chance at growing and changing even if it is with your mark upon her?"

To say the least Hiashi was quite taken aback by the thought-provoking question the blonde young man had put before him. As far as his sources had informed him Naruto was nothing but a loudmouthed brat who was kind of stupid. But from what he just heard he could tell that the boy was actually quite intelligent and mature in many ways. After a moment's thought he replied.

"To be honest, neither of them sound appealing to me. I desperately want to save both of my daughters from such a terrible fate." Naruto nodded as he thought for a moment. Then he looked directly in Hiashi's eyes. His eyes held a look of determination and resolve.

"If," He began. "And I do mean if, I could provide actual proof that I have an authentic and clear reason to be allowed to train your daughter. One that is both secret in nature and that no one would dare to question. Would you be able to convince the Hyuga council to allow me to train the girl without divulging why?"

Now that really perplexed Hiashi. What possible proof could the orphaned boy provide him with that would give him the leverage he needed to pull Hinata out of this situation? Was this the request that Hiruzen had made to him earlier. Hiashi glanced over at the Hokage who had quietly watched the conversation over the last few minutes. When their eyes met the Hokage smiled at him and nodded, almost as if he was saying that he backed whatever proof that might exist.

After a hesitant moment the Hyuga decided to play along with the little game for now. "Well, I think you would have to possess quite the reason for me to be able to even attempt to appease the Hyuga council without revealing what it is that I know. However, if it is truly something that could actually fix this current predicament then I would at least be willing to hear you out."

"No." Hiashi was a little taken aback by this one-word response simce it wasn't coming from Naruto but from the Hokage.

"W-what?" Hiashi sputtered out in response.

"I said no Hiashi. What Naruto has to say is one of the single most closely guarded secrets in this village. Only six people now what he is about to reveal. It is more secret than even the Kyubi. So, if he is going to reveal it to you then we need to know that you will never ever tell anyone, and we need to know that you are going to do much more than just consider what he has to say."

Hiashi nodded slowly in understanding. "Very well. If you share this with me then I will never reveal it to anyone, and I will do everything within my power to make sure that the council gives Hinata her six months with you."

"Good." Naruto said before turning back to the Hokage. "Jiji, would you please pull out the proof while I explain everything to Hiashi." The Hokage nodded before standing up and going to the closet connected to the office. "Now, Hiashi, you know that the Kyubi was sealed inside of me, however, what you do not know is why I was the one chosen. Out of all of the children why did the Fourth choose me? Well, the fact of the matter is that Lord Fourth was actually secretly married to one Kushina Uzumaki, the previous container for the Kyubi. On that same day of the attack the Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze had a healthy baby boy. However, during the pregnancy the seal weakened and the Kyubi was able to escape. I am sure you can see where I am going with this, but I'll say it anyways. Lord Fourth would never have cast this burden upon another child when his own son was a possibility. I am the son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and his wife, Kushina Uzumaki. They had planned on revealing their marriage along with their child shortly after I was born. However, their deaths prevented this from occurring. The secret was kept from everyone to protect me from my parents' enemies. Especially from those who come from Iwa."

The whole explanation had Hiashi's mind reeling. He could not believe that Naruto was the only son of the Fourth Hokage, one of the single most powerful men ever to walk the Earth, and a legitimate heir to both the Namikaze and Uzumaki clans.

"I was informed of my heritage by Jiji upon receiving the rank of Jounin, as was my father's wishes." Naruto continued. "The rest of Konoha and the world will learn of my heritage upon my 16th birthday, so for now it is important that everything remains a secret. So, as you can see Hiashi I am the son of the Fourth Hokage, container of the Kyubi, student of both Jiraiya of the Sanin and Kakashi Hatake, rightful heir of both the Uzumaki and Namikaze clans, and future Hokage. Do you think that you can convince that council of yours without revealing any of this?"

Hiashi just nodded dumbly as his mind was still processing the information. At some point during the explanation Hiruzen had returned with the proof. After a few minutes of looking through the documents it became very evident that none of this was a lie.

"Good. If you run into problems and you are unable to convince them then we will need to reconvene because I will not allow Hinata to be released from my tutelage just because of petty standings. The village looks at me as the worst of the worst, but what they don't understand is I am near the top of the food chain because of my heritage. However, I do not want recognition because of who my parents were, but instead I want people to recognize me for who I am."

"Do not worry Uzumaki-sama. I will make sure that your secret is kept safe with me, and I will convince the council before the day is over. Thank you both for your time and effort on my daughter's behalf. I hope that you can truly help Hinata be the best that she can." Hiashi stated as he stood and bowed.

"No worries Hiashi, and please call me Naruto. I was never much for formalities." Naruto said as he grinned and scratched his head.

With that Hiashi left the room to go speak with the council. His mind was still reeling from the new discoveries, but in the back of his mind he began to plan how he could use this information one day.

Back in the office Naruto and the Hokage were idly chatting as they hoped that everything would work out in the end.

After several hours both Naruto and the Hokage received confirmation that Hiashi had been able to convince the council to allow Hinata to stay under Naruto's tutelage. However, Naruto had to submit updates to Hiashi and the council once a month detailing Hinata's progress, and if there was not significant change in Hinata by the Chunin Exams then she would be cast to the branch family without any argument. It really did seem as though Hiashi had put all of his hopes on young Naruto's shoulders. Only time would tell if he could succeed.
