Hi hi! ^u^/

So this high school one-shot collection's almost done and once it is done, I will have more free time to focus on the others hehe. Hope everyone's doing well also and that they are enjoying the works so far. I understand that they're mainly Knuxikal stuff but there will be works that incorporate other pairings and in the future I will shift to other franchises, but for now the echidna couple is still the main interest.

Okay so for the pairing in the chapter... it's actually one I don't focus too much but decided to put it in there. They also do need some love being in more fanfics so might as well do my part. Regardless I do find the pairing unique so that's something!

Alright so as always hope you enjoy! ^u^

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or locations. They belong to Sega.

Math: Mightoney

"So I was like WHAM! And then was I like KA-POW take that! Right in the face and already the guy got KO-d easily!" a red and black armadillo said to a yellow flying squirrel. The two were walking down a hall with several other students chatting and walking amongst one another. They attended the prestigious Sol Academy and just like the rest of the students that go there they wore a school uniform which for the two consisted of a navy-blue cashmere vest over a white button-down long-sleeved shirt with a blue tie around the collar; a crest was displayed on the left part of their chest. They wore cream-colored khaki pants as well with the red armadillo wearing red shoes with a white stripe over it while the yellow flying squirrel wore blue shoes with two stripes over it, completing their look.

For the armadillo however his attire was a bit less formal in which his tie was loose with the buttons on the collar undone as he carried a messenger bag over his shoulder in his hand while the flying squirrel was neat and tidy. Normally appearance speaks on how a person will be upon interacting with them and most of the time that is the case.

"That's sounds awesome Mighty! Man you sure are tough when it comes to boxing!" the yellow squirrel asked their friend named Mighty. The latter smirked while making a confident expression. "Yeah Ray, it's all in a day's work."

"So did you guys win against Mobius High in the end?" Ray asked. Mighty's expression suddenly fell upon hearing that with annoyance replacing it. "Unfortunately we did not. Most of our team got their butts whooped by that national champ echidna guy. I wished I could've fought against him but already there was too much of a gap between us and them that we wouldn't win regardless."

"That sucks Mighty, but hey maybe next time you'll go up against him! Who knows maybe you'll beat him and become the new champ!" Ray happily said.

"Hehe yeah that would be great and that's what I'm basically aiming for. To become the new boxing champion!" Mighty raised a fist in the air with new confidence. "Thanks Ray for the support!"

"Anytime bud, now I'm gonna take off to do some more work in the lab. Remember math starts in an hour so I assume you did your homework right?"

"Huh?" was all Mighty was able to say, a shocked look on his face.

Ray raised an eyebrow and sweatdropped. "You did do the homework right? The teacher assigned us roots and zeros this week. Don't tell me you forgot again?"

The red armadillo started to sweat a bit. "Uhh… yeaaah I did."

"Mighty… I'm your best friend and I've known you long enough to see how much of a terrible liar you are." Ray sighed. "Unfortunately I can't help you out today because I have an important project I still have to continue on, but an hour's plenty of time to get it done. See ya!"

Ray then ran off and turned a corner disappearing from sight, leaving Mighty standing there with an astonished look still on face.

'Crap… I was so focused on the boxing match that I forgot we had homework for math and math starts in an hour! Okay okay Mighty don't freak out don't freak out, it's just math… WHICH I SUCK IN! I'M BARELY ABLE TO STAY AT A C+!"

Mighty steadied his breathing and swung his bag to his front digging through it. He found the paper that he had to do with several math problems on it and unfortunately, it will take some time for him to solve. "Dangit this'll take me some time! Alright chill Mighty just head over to the study hall and get this over with." he said to himself. With a fast takeoff he flew through the groups of students walking through the hall with several surprised at how fast he can cover ground.

In the study hall…

Mighty sat in one of the tables heavily concentrating on the piece of paper with numbers and letters on it. He has already written things on it which was a start.

If one counts only their name on the paper as progress.

'Okay ten minutes have passed so far and I can't even figure out the first problem! FU-!"

"Mighty?"

His train of thought stopped as he got startled by an unknown voice. His blue eyes looked around frantically for a bit before turning to his side, his eyes widening at the person before him.

"Honey?" he said.

Right near him was a yellow-orange female cat gazing at him with orange eyes. Long black hair tied in two twin tails sat above her head tied in two white scrunchies. She wore the same uniform as he did except with a cream-colored skirt that reached up to her knees and red boots with a black upper sole. "What are you doing here?" she said to him.

Mighty was well aware of who she was.

As they used to date each other, but he broke up with her.

It wasn't because they were fighting or anything, it was more because they didn't have much time to spend with each other. Mighty was busy with boxing while Honey was busy with fashion designing. They only ever saw each other in some of their classes and during their free time they're normally not with each other, so the red armadillo decided that it wouldn't work out if they constantly sticked to their busy schedules. Honey understood and took it fine, but she did look really sad that it happened. After that talk they didn't speak much with each other, only being in some classes together.

Mighty suddenly realized he was staring at her for some time that he shook his head and looked to the side anxiously rubbing his neck. "Oh hey long time no see, well um… I'm here just doing some homework." he said.

"I see, but you don't normally come here. It's a first I even see you here." Honey replied.

"Well today's the latest that I have to rush on homework. Only got a little less than hour to finish it and it's math which sucks even more." Mighty said turning to glare at the cursed numbers on the paper. Honey looked at the paper then back at him. "Well if you want I can help you with it. We do have the same class together and I already have mine done and since I got nothing else to do, I can help you in finishing it."

The red armadillo looked back in surprise. "Really? I-I mean you don't have to I can do-."

"Mighty… I'm aware that you're not the brightest when it comes to math and I've seen your expressions whenever we get our tests and quizzes back. Least let me help you…" Honey then pulled out the chair next to him and placed her things on the table. "I mean… like I said, I got time." she whispered not looking at him.

'Is she really… no that can't be she's just helping me out. Relax dude Honey just wants to help you out. I mean I broke up with her so there's no way." Mighty thought before giving a grin. "Alright if you insist. Teach me sensei!"

Honey giggled at his enthusiasm. "Well alright let's see what we got. First problem is f to the x is equal to x cubed minus four x squared plus six x minus four. Simple first problem."

"Well that's easy for you to say but remember I suck at this." Mighty muttered.

"Good thing I'm helping you out. All you have to do is find the roots and zeros for the function, and the first step to that is by factoring your equation into two."

"Yup you lost me already." the armadillo muttered again. Honey gave a sigh and grabbed the pencil from him.

Their hands momentarily touching which sent a spark between them.

Honey gasped to herself feeling his warmth while Mightly flushed a bit. It was so long that they had physical contact with each other and just that small moment brought a few memories.

'O-Okay Honey d-don't th-think that… remember, he broke up with you… he did…'

'Holy cow Honey is still soft as ever… was I being an idiot back then… should I have done that…?'

Luckily the two didn't focus too much on it and concentrated more on the homework. "The first thing you need to do is factor it out. You would want to reduce the number of x's for the first three numbers so you would factor out an x. From there if you notice, each of the numbers are a multiple of two so you would factor out two." Honey then began writing the result from her explanation. "When you do all that you'll have two separate equations. The first will be x minus two with the second will be x squared minus two x plus two."

"Hey I think I'm starting to get it! Those two look familiar from the last several topics!" Mighty said happily. Honey returned the same gesture. "Exactly! Now if you recall from before you just need set each of the equations equal to zero and then solve for x. Here you give it a go."

Honey handed Mighty back the pencil, except this time he grabbed it from the bottom away from her hand. The yellow-orange cat's ears slightly went down from it but nonetheless she kept a cheerful face.

"Alright so if I did this and this…" Mighty began writing his steps below what Honey wrote with the latter looking at his work.

Her orange eyes would sometimes stray over to his face however.

"Okay so x is equal to 2 for the first one and x is equal to one plus or minus one for the second one. That right?" he asked. Honey looked over his work and smiled. "Yup that's right!"

"Aw yeah that's what I'm talking about!" Mighty cheered while keeping his voice down in knowing he was in a quiet location. "Thanks for the help Honey!" he said which caused Honey to blush in embarrassment. "N-Not a problem Mighty."

From there they worked further on the remaining math questions with Mighty understanding it better and better. Honey had him do the last few without any assistance and looked over his results after. She nodded in approval to them as Mighty has understood the material well enough and with only ten minutes to spare, was able to complete the homework on time.

"Awesome! Now I don't have to worry about not doing my homework and NOT worry about my grade falling hehe!" Mighty cheered putting his materials back into his bag. "I really appreciate it Honey and thanks again for the help!"

"Not a problem Mighty. If you need any help from the future I'll be there to assist!" Honey replied.

The two then got up as the red armadillo hoisted his messenger bag over his shoulder. "Well I'll be going to the vending machine to get a snack before class so I'll catch ya later!" he said before starting to walk towards the door.

Only to feel a pair of hands grab his arm and stop him. His blue eyes widened at the action. 'H-Huh?!'

Turning his head Mighty looked back to Honey and saw her orange eyes looking back at him with a sad expression. "W-What's up?" Mighty asked hesitantly.

The yellow-orange cat began to flush red as nervousness seeped in. "W-Well, I'm grateful to help you out and whatnot but… can you help me out as well with something…"

"Uhh sure, what do you need?"

"Okay so here's the thing…" Honey tightened her hold on his arm and got a bit closer, her eyes on the ground. "Thing is… it hurts Mighty… i-it hurts." A few tears were coming out the sides of her orange orbs. "I-I miss y-you Mighty… please…"

Mighty was shocked at what she was saying. "B-But I said it before Honey, we can't stay together. We're too-."

"NO! I DON'T CARE!" Honey shouted while throwing herself at the armadillo and capturing him in a hug, causing Mighty to stiffen up. Fortunately they were the only ones in the study hall as everyone else has left for class. "I miss you Mighty! I miss us! I told my fashion instructor to give me more free time since I needed it! As much as I like what I do and I respect what you like… I still love you Mighty…"

Mighty couldn't believe it. She would risk her passion of becoming a fashion designer to just to be with him?

'There's no way. I thought she would be taking it just fine, but she's been suffering this whole time…' Mighty then thought back to the times they were together and slowly did he started to realize.

He had the best time of his life being with Honey. Boxing was just as much as a passion for him as Honey is for fashion, but it would never overtake the one thing they'll hold dear.

Each other.

"Mighty… please…" Honey's voice broke his train of thought and he blinked several times, the armadillo looking at her worried look.

His heart ached at that.

He made his decision and this time, he won't screw it up like before.

Mighty raised his other arm and placed his hand on top of hers, grabbing them in his own hold. Honey gasped and looked at his hand, feeling the sense of joy slowly rising in her as she switched her gaze up to him.

A mighty grin was on Mighty's face hehe.

"I made the biggest mistake back then for breaking us up. Whether we have time for each other or not, I can't just focus my attention on one passion." Mighty then leaned down and placed his forehead on hers, Honey pushing back gently as well with their hands finding each other and intertwining. "I have a more important passion than that, the most important thing of my life… if you want Honey, c-can we start-."

Mighty was cut off by Honey's sweet lips upon his own, his eyes widening for a second then slowly closing. Their love for each other has rekindled as their hearts beat in unison, their lips dancing with one another. Honey wrapped her arms around his neck while Mighty did around her waist, pouring their missing affection into one another after time apart. Memories of their time together coming back to them with emotions running high throughout both their bodies.

Mighty realized he couldn't be separate away from her.

Honey knew she couldn't stay away from the boy she loved.

Regardless of their future dreams they knew that although they each have their own paths, they would go on the main road.

Together.

Once air was needed did they both separate slowly looking at each other. Wide smiles on their faces.

"Yes Mighty… a million times yes." Honey whispered with tears flowing down her face. Mighty raised a hand and brushed them away, the yellow-orange cat nuzzling into it with a gentle purr.

"I won't make the same mistake again Honey, and I am very happy that we're together again." he said offering his other hand. "C'mon, we got math class and I need all the help I can get hehe."

Honey grinned and grabbed his hand. "Sure thing Mighty."

From there they walked to math class hand in hand, leaning against each other the whole way.

All it took was roots and zeros to get them back together, but nonetheless they were happy with the outcome.

Even math has its own mystic ways of making bonds.

Fin.

Alright we reached the end!

Hope you liked it and maybe I'll actually focus on this pairing as well. There are some stuff related to them and they look pretty cute together, but as stated any shipping that isn't proshipping with huge age gaps between them is fair game.

Just two more chapters to go! Stay tuned for what the next two will be! ouo/
