Nonsense
After 2 x 7
The day after their failed elopement, Tom continued his job, trying to pretend there was nothing wrong, although he couldn't stop scowling. Sybil had claimed she loved him but still chose her family over him.
He didn't look at her when she entered the garage.
"Tom?" Sybil said, as if nothing were wrong. "Speak to me."
"I'm sorry, milady, but you've already made your decision last night," Tom said. He scowled, still refusing to look at her.
"Tom, you are speaking nonsense!" Lady Sybil's voice said, as if she had the right to be angry. "I agreed not to marry without telling my parents, not that we shouldn't marry. I told you last night, I would stay true to you."
Tom finally whipped his head around. "No, Sybil, you are speaking nonsense! Your sisters are manipulating you. They'll start to plant doubts in your head. Last night was our chance."
Sybil shook her head. "Mary and Sybil are just looking out for me. Papa will more likely accept us eventually if we are honest with him, and I need to show I'm not ashamed of us. And what makes you think they can change my mind when you know I'm in love with you?"
