Hi guys, it's been a while since I updated.
This chapter just like part one has been through many re-writes and I'm finally satisfied with how it came out.
Sorry it took so long.
Please enjoy and thank you for all the hits and reviews, appreciate it :)
P.S. I love Dale Pa'Ya
"You couldn't get the simplest dance move right! So who you calling stupid?"
"Because dancing isn't my strong suit. I SUCK at it, I'll gladly admit it, but it doesn't mean I'm stupid. It's called a weakness, and we all have them. Let's go down the list, shall we?Our dearly beloved Latino friend Carlos Garcia is the most impatient person any of us have ever met. He's not able to sit still and keep his mouth shut for more than five minutes and that can be annoying as hell sometimes. But we know he can't help it and he has been really working on himself in the last few years.
Next we have our ever so strong and responsible leader Kendall Knight who may always help us when we feel like crap, but locks himself in his room because he doesn't want us to see him cry when he misses his dad."
At that statement Kendall raised his eyebrows with a shocked expression. Logan responded with a sympathetic look that read 'I know dude, we all know'.
Continuing with the list he shot a menacing look towards his frenemy. "And you wanna know what your weakness is? You care more about being famous and successful than other people's feelings!"
James looked to their group's leader to see any kind of disagreement or objection in his eyes regarding that statement. Unfortunately there wasn't any, so he knew Kendall agreed with what Logan just accused him of.
"You chose fame over our decade long friendship! You ditched us when we tried to build our life back up in Minnesota. "
"Yeah, after you guys ditched the band!", the brunette defended himself.
"Correction: after Griffin ditched the band, we had no other choice than to go back home, because we couldn't afford our apartment at the Palmwoods without him paying for it."
"That wouldn't have happened if you three put more effort into this band and worked harder!"
"Worked harder?! Do I need to remind you that after only ONE day of training for our first concert, Kendall broke his arm, Carlos had multiple concussions and I couldn't move my neck for several days. If we worked even harder, we would have been DEAD, James!"
"You would have been fine"
"NO, WE WOULDN'T HAVE! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! You are so fucking SELFISH! Yes, we are your bandmates, but before that we are, excuse me, were your best friends. Did you ever think about what me and Carlos sacrificed to go to L.A. to live out YOUR dream?
I was basically guaranteed a spot at the medical school in Minneapolis because our old biology teacher works there as a professor and wrote a recommendation letter for me.
And Carlos just left behind his three younger brothers and his parents to help you fulfill your dream. You know how close he is to his dad. He cried the whole plane ride and it was me who calmed him down and comforted him, when it should have been you.
You should be thankful and appreciative for everything we did for you. I gave up my biggest goal in life and Los basically everything he knew and loved for YOU and all we get is an 'You should've worked harder'? No, YOU should've worked harder on treating your friends with respect and gratitude. Because you know what? I'm no longer one of them!"
"Don't look so shocked Kendall, I know you feel the same way. Oh, and speaking of Kendall, he is the reason why you got to Hollywood in the first place. Gustavo wanted HIM, not you!"
That was apparently the wrong thing to say because the next thing James did was lounging towards Logan, ready to beat him up, for real this time.
Before there was a repetition of the situation in the studio though, Kendall, finally stepping up as the leader, interrupted this loaded domestic which threatened to escalate by positioning himself in between them and asking following questions.
"STOP IT, BOTH OF YOU! Since when are we attacking our best friends?! Since when are we calling each other names? Since when do we have to yell to get each other's attention? Since when are we getting angry at each other for messing up? … When did we stop caring about each other?... When did we stop being friends?"
"Ever since Lucy came back", the genius blurted out, his eyes pointed to the floor.
"What are you trying to say?", the tall brunette raised his eyebrows and had an angry look in his eyes. His girlfriend had nothing to do with any of this.
"Dude, all you did since her return was trying to make her your girlfriend. You showed up late, messed up lyrics and were always leaving first. Your focus was on nothing else but her, so when it took longer to record a song or do a dance, you got impatient and aggressive and we got scared of you, so we avoided you and started to hang out with our girlfriends more instead of each other."
"So you're saying this is all MY fault?! How dare-
"That's exactly what I'm talking about! You never used to yell at us, now it feels like it's the only thing you do, if you talk to us at all. You need to realize that you've changed James, for the worse. You already lost your best friends. Your 'little brother' hasn't talked to you in weeks and probably feels the same way we do after what you did to him. Lucy seems like the only thing you care about, so do you really wanna lose her too? Cause you're going to, if you keep acting like the biggest asshole on this planet."
He was baffled. Did it really get this far that they felt like this? He noticed the other three avoiding him, but didn't really think much of it. It was normal for almost twenty year olds to spend less time together like they used to when they were younger. They were all growing up, so nothing out of the ordinary.
But this felt way bigger. They weren't drifting apart in a healthy manner, they were falling apart like a card house. It took only one blow to knock over the construct that was built more than a decade ago. And it would take a lot of time, precision and dedication to fix what has been broken. If one card was out of place, the whole house collapses. And if one of the four boys was only thinking about himself, their friendship crumbles.
If he is honest with himself, he did realize that his whole world revolved around Lucy in the past couple months. The crush he has on that girl is like no other he ever had. He tried everything to get her to notice him, it worked in the end because all of his effort besides rehearsals and recording sessions went into planning strategies to make her his.
He DID neglect his best friends and he DID scream at them - the realization hit him hard, reminiscing about the last few months.
James Diamond has become a terrible best friend and it was time he saw that and changed it.
