I am a bit rushed with this chapter, but it was fun to write.
Six months of magic later
"There, all safe." Gabe said, smiling as he placed down the brush covered in a mixture of herbs, salt and blood. R
unic magic, powerful and complex, now covered his new apartment. Gabe had fled his Foster parent's home, using his new mastery over magic to mind fuck his way into a new apartment free of charge. He had his landlord, a rather wealthy man, supplying him with food and money and magical supplies all without remembering why or arguing against it. The man had a necklace on him that bound him to Gabe's will, ensuring he got all he needed at all had covered his home in powerful runes, as mentioned before, ensuring that he would never have to worry about intruders.
So, naturally, it was when he completed his magics that Hecate appeared, looking amused in her lovely modelesque clothes. "Hello, my dear, I see you are fairing well." The primal goddess smiled at him, walking around as if the wards meant nothing to her. Which they didn't, he knew that she was fundamentally immune to most magic, all magics he was capable of casting. "Your magical skills are so advanced for one only at six months, your dedication is quite impressive."
He nodded, nervous. "I like power, and frankly nothing is quite like becoming a witch. It is a mixture of belief, intelligence and strength. Mind over Matter, literally... I love it."
"I can tell, your love resonates in your work," She turned to him, eyes stern. "There is a greater threat you must be warned of now that you are making waves, no matter how small. Hunters, humans that seek out those filled with power. Many are not much of a threat, too weak or incompetent, but some... some are terrifying, capable of killing even the Pagan gods and greater. It is them that you must be careful of. Some will kill you for merely having magic, no matter if you have already harmed another soul. If I were you, I would continue to harness not only your magic but your martial arts and marksmanship. Do all you can to protect yourself from your mortal foes. I cannot shield you must longer, there are ancient rules. I know you found three grimoires, entirely by accident, learn from them before you reveal yourself into the world.
I know you seek power, and to do that you must trade with others, both mortals and witches alike... but you must be prepared. I would not lose a worshipper before his time. So be careful, do as you must and ready yourself before you make greater waves."
He nodded, eyes cold. "I understand, trust no one... is that why your grimoire had me learning wards and aura reading?"
"For monsters as well, but yes... you must be careful, my love, always and forever."
"Sigh, still worth it... maybe I can offer a service, like aura cleansing or scrying or anything else to these Hunters, make myself less of a target."
Hecate beamed. "That would be a wonderful idea, and it would give you the chance to gain greater repute and skill... I love it. Now... I must leave, but you... you continue ony our path, I foresee something great from you."
"Thank you, for this and the mere path I am walking on." And with that, he turned to his books, a cold powerful expression on his face. Plans within plans, he now knew what to do with this life and that just made everything more interesting. He would serve these hunters and other witches to gain knowledge, power and skill... and the means to make his life all he wished for it to be.
He just had to find out where the hell to start!
:::
Three years of Practicing magic later
"Names Bobby Singer, I hear you are providing a certain kind of service for a price."
Gabe nodded as he listened into the phone. He had been providing said services for about a year at that point, having used a simple scrying spell to find Hunters and other low-level witches to make contacts. He had gained a reputation for all sorts of things, mostly scrying and wards and healing. He never killed anything or anyone, but he was great at protection and helping to cover up the actions of others, people loved him for it.
"That would be true, depending on what I get out of it."
Bobby Singer, a famous Hunter that Gabe had in fact heard of, sighed into the phone. "What do you think you can do about a demon deal gone wrong?"
Choking, Gabe racked his brain. "That is a big order, Crossroad demons deal right?" Bobby grunted in affirmation. "Well, that will be a big cost. Their magic is powered by the soul, it has quite a bit of precociousness about them... you have to be very delicate, and I run the risk of angering hell..."
"What do you want?"
Gabe smirked into the phone. "I heard you have a whole host of mystical books from years and years of practice. I get free access for one year, minimum, to your supplies or so long as I am helping you."
The man sighed. "Fine, so do you think you can help?"
"Where do you live? This is going to take some research, my demonology is weaker than I would like it to be. I am more familiar with other branches of magic, but in this... this I am eager to learn, to help others as well as time progresses. My deal is this, I will help you find your salvation... and you give me access to your books. Deal?"
"Can't argue with that, you've made a bit of a reputation for yourself, kid. It was your work with Asa Fox that caught my attention, I heard how you helped him undo a witch's hex and cleanse the auras of six kids of a potent curse. Now get over here, I'll give you my address in a minute.
"Awesome... see you soon, Bobby."
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
