Horizon tends to want to forget his birthday ever existed sometimes. But Amber wishes to make him happy and have him forget about his tribulations and hate of his birth. Let's see what they have in store today!

"Uug." Groaned Horizon laying in his bed of scratchy, uncomfortable hay, wishing he could wake up back on a mattress, that didn't hurt and make him itch to sleep on. He hesitated slightly with that train of thought. What was a mattress again?

Amber was already gone when Horizon got up. The Vulpix stretched in place after standing. He released a sigh, knowing what today was.

"At least Amber's not here,'' He thought grumpily, still coming to his senses, "I can't deal with her in the mornings sometimes." He sat up and looked around his and Amber's room thinking to himself.

Today was especially one of those mornings. Today was the former human's least favorite day of the year. The date of his unfortunate making. His birthday.

Amber never knew why Horizon hated his birthday, nor did she pry to find out… to Horizon's relief. The Vulpix just had a bad reputation with his birth, something that carried over when he was transferred to the world of Pokemon.

He couldn't remember why he despised his date of birth, nor could he find a reason to do so now. The way he felt was just natural to him. No matter what, Horizon could feel no different. He didn't try to sugarcoat it either.

"Rise and Shine!" Amber called from the entranceway. The Rockruff bounded inside a big smile on her maw. Horizon lazily looked up at her, she wasn't usually this bountiful in the morning.

"Gueeess what?" She asked him bounding up and down as if a Spoink with a high amount of energy.

Horizon raised a bored, unamused brow, "What?" He grumbled his voice as bored an uninterested he could make it.

Amber grinned halting her bouncing, "I got the day off for both of us!" She chirped walking to the bored Vulpix's side. Her excitement only continued with her sentence, "For once Strife let me take a day off. Noe we can relax and celebrate your birthday!"

"Who told yo-" He quickly answered his own question. He had. When they had just begun their team together, he quickly shut his mouth thinking of a better remark. Horizon released a snort with a firm shake of his head, "I'd rather go to the Blaring Jungle." He turned away with a huff.

Amber sighed and shook her head, her memory flashing back to a certain incident at the Jungle, one where they both got tricked and captured by a bunch of bugs, despite type advantage. Then during their rematch, losing again. Needless to say, they didn't win too often against serious opponents.

"Then what do you want to do?" Amber asked him the frown still on her face. She knelt down in front of the Vulpix awaiting a hopefully good response.

"Nothing special," He retorted snottily, he turned away with an annoyed huff, "Now I got nothing to do, thanks." He snapped, angrily looking to the ceiling.

Amber looked down embarrassed, "I-I," She stuttered, unable to muster any response. She quickly rushed from the room leaving Horizon to his lonesome.

Horizon casted a glance back, seeing her tail duck out of his line of sight. He sighed before muttering to himself, "Why do i feel this way? I don't even remember… what happened."

The fox curled up and closed his eyes, tue early morning drowsiness overtaking him, "I'll sleep on it," He thought, "Maybe i'll remember… or get a hint... anything... please."

Horizon's eyes shot open the moment he closed his eyes, or at least he thought. He glanced around confused. Everything was… normal around him, nothing was out of place. His book shelves were still messy, books scattered about with no real pattern, even some on the floor. Amber's shelf was of course neat and organized. Amber, herself, was even sleeping in her bed to his left.

"Didn't I…" Horizon started as his face contorted to a frown, "Just fall asleep?" He glanced around double-checking the room around him.

The fox stood and stretched his legs momentarily, glancing around again, still confused. Horizon was unsure to what was going on, or whether this was a dream or not.

"Amber… just left," He said confused, glancing at the sleeping Amber. He stepped towards his unconscious partner, "Hey Amber?" He says waving his paw in her face, "You good?"

No reply. Not even a snort or even a movement other than her soft breathing. Horizon's dark ringed eyes blinked in disbelief at his teammate.

"Amber's usually a light sleeper…" Horizon said after a moment. His disbelief contorted into a frown. That frown only deepened when he realized this wasn't a normal dream, "What's going on?" He raised a paw to his head, half tempted to pinch himself.

The Vulpix turned away from his teammate and glanced outside of his room. From what he could see and hear, no one was nearby. That notion carried over as he noticed the usual bussling and loud guild, was now a ghost town. No one was around.

All Horizon could see was a small light further down, the lamps on the wall didn't seem to give much light despite being on. They were too dim to be on, yet the fire inside still flickered and burned.

The golden light was emitting from behind the door at the end of the hall. The door normally used to go to the main hall. Horizon stared at the door for a moment before distracting himself.

"I don't understand why we don't have electricity down here." Horizon muttered, glancing back at Amber for a moment, contemplating what he should do next.

"To the light I guess," Horizon snorted indignantly turning back towards the door, "What else can I do?" The fox crept forward curiosity building inside of him as he neared the doorway.

"I can't see through it" Horizon thought a bit of fear formed in his chest. He squinted through the doorway, in hopes of getting a better look, in hopes that he'd see something.

The more Horizon squinted at the door of light, the more his head hurt, the more his eyes began to water. He winced in pain and forced himself to look away.

He raised a paw and wiped the tears from his eyes, the headache not fading. He hesitantly pushed a paw into the light for a moment before pulling back. The light had a bit of weight to it, about as heavy as one of his badges. It also felt... liquidy? He frowned. This wasn't the light he was expecting, maybe some sort of sunlight or golden light from some treasure. He didn't expect liquid light.

"Is that even a thing?" Horizon wondered staring into the liquid stream in the doorway. He stared for so long, lost in his thoughts a voice had to jolt him from his trance.

"Come Horizon," The light sounded, it sounded sickingly like Amber and also frighteningly off, "You wish to know?"

Horizon blinked several times before narrowing his eyes skeptically at the light, not responding. He did want to know… whatever this light was referring to, but trusting some Random voice in his head didn't seem like the way to do it.

Then again, did he have anything better to do with his life at the moment?

Horizon sighed and shook his head, "Fine," he snorted tiredly, "Get on with it." Horizon closed his eyes and walked into the light filled doorway.

For a moment, he could feel the light wash over him. It was almost calming, the smooth rush of something cold over his face and body. it was almost soothing.

Almost.

The moment his entire body entered the Light everything shifted. As if he stepped into a mystery dungeon Horizon felt the same sudden shift when he entered the doorway. Then he was on the ground. Around him a large forest, dark evergreen leaves. He was in a small area beside a path, the moon high in the sky.

"Aug," Horizon groaned shaking his head, "What the?"

The fox glanced around confused, "Where am I?"

"You are deep within your lost memories," The voice replied in monotone, appearing in a small ball of light In front of me, "We could not reconstruct you as a human those memories were lost forever."

I raised an eyebrow suspiciously, "How did it know I was human?" I thought confused, I stared up at the light for a moment before asking: "Then how am I here? And why?"

"Like i was saying, we reconstructed your memories the best we could, Simply put it's your body's past, not your human one," The voice continued, "We're going back to the moment you hate most." The Light floated a bit closer, as if leaning in to see his response.

Horizon rolled his eyes bitterly, "This better not be about my birthday," He growled stomping towards the light. Annoyance rang through Horizon's voice, why was it always him going on these sorts of 'mind changing' trips, "Cause if it is I swear-" He continued being swiftly inturrupted.

"You followed me." it simply replied, a hint of smugness in its voice. The light began to float away after Horizon's silent reply, winning that exchange.

Horizon's frown deepened, not wanting to show the light any sign of defeat. So he followed the voice begrudgingly. The light led him through bushes, and around trees. Almost like a maze, a nature maze, Horizon felt as though he was going in circles.

The Light finally stopped just outside a small clearing in the woods. In the middle was a small group of Ninetales, Arcanine, and a few Vulpix. About four Ninetales, two Arcanine and two Vulpix. Two Ninetales looked much older than the rest, one was male the other female. Horizon assumed they were probably the grand or great grandparents.

Horizon veered his head to glance at the light, "I know none of these Pokémon." He snorted with narrower eyes.

"You aren't supposed to," the light replied unmoving, "Now watch and listen."

Horizon rolled his eyes with a huff, sitting down beside the light, a small distance away from the group. They were behind a rather thin bush, and frankly, Horizon was surprised they hadn't been heard yet.

"Its hatching!" A voice went excitingly. One of the Vulpix began hopping up and down from the back. Trying to hop over a few overprotective Ninetales who surrounded what was hatching, just to see what was going on.

"Relax Akane," One of the Ninetales went sternly, staring at the young Vulpix with a look that matched her voice, "Your gonna scare her."

Horizon glared at the bundle of light, "Her?" He hissed raising an eyebrow. This got his hopes up for a moment, "Maybe this isn't about me... Maybe this is just a lesson in... family?"

"They are guessing," The light replied simply, and if the light had shoulders Horizon was sure it would've shrugged, "There is something here important to you, stay patient." Horizon was also positive it read his thoughts, just with that final comment.

He heard a loud 'Crack' before it was followed by "awes" and "oohs" from the Fire type families.

"It's a boy!" A different Vulpix squealed leaning onto the first Ninetales, trying to see "The boy" clearer. The first Ninetales I heard speak quickly shushed them, "Hush Oko," The Ninetales whispered to him, "Let him awaken."

"Aika," The oldest Ninetales interrupted turning her head to meet Aika, "Let the child be." Horizon assumed was Aika's Mother, "He's excited to meet his younger brother." Aika looked torn, glancing at her mother then back into the center of the group where Horizon couldn't see.

It was then when the words struck him in the head, like a fruit falling from a tree, or a ball thrown without any warning.

"Brother!!" Horizon hissed angrily, sputtering as he figured out what to say, once again glaring at the light, he turned to face it, "Is this supposed to make me feel better about my damn birthday!"

The Light seemed taken aback at Horizons comment, "This is supposed to make you realize you have someone with you on your birthday! You have Amber!" It replied furiously almost surprised of Horizon's reaction.

Horizon frowned, "Amber, Shmamber, she's great an all but… she's can't fix everything." Horizon grumbled to the light with narrowed eyes, "She tries her damnest but my birthday will just be that, a day."

"Did you ever try to stop and enjoy your birthday? At all?" The light demanded its voice as angry as the wild motions it made, "Just because you feel bad about one thing doesn't mean you can't enjoy it!"

Horizon growled, not holding back any of his frustration either, "Well If it's my day, then why can't I enjoy it the way I want!?" He hissed stomping his foot.

The light faded away revealing a small figure. A pixie looking thing, maybe a fairy with green fur/skin small wings and goggle like eyes.

"A Celebi!" Horizon gasped taken aback, before quickly narrowing his eyes, "What are you doing in my head!?"

Celebi narrowed her eyes back st him, "I've never had anyone piss me off so easily before," she snapped at flying in a small circle.

"I've succeeded at more difficult tasks," Horizon retorted snottily, looking away from her and raising his head, "How are you even in my head? Celebi can't do that."

"Because we aren't in your head," She replied after a deep breath, "We are literally in the past," She flew a few inches closer to me, "Well in your body's past." She tapped his head almost mockingly.

"Then why can't they see us? Or hear us for that matter?" Horizon replied sitting down annoyance and curiosity coursing through him.

"I have a psychic barrier up, that prevents them from seeing or hearing us," Celebi replied, she flew close to my side and continued, "You can meet them if you want."

"How the hell is that supposed to help me?" Horizon demanded with annoyance raising an eyebrow at the Time travel Pokémon, "This isn't! That's the point im trying to make!" He turned away from Celebi, looking down at his paws, "I don't mean to make Amber upset, but I just don't feel like… celebrating my birthday, it's a day that i hate and that's it."

Celebi sighed and shook her head, "Magically it isn't your birthday nke anyway. Now would you like to meet your Pokemon parents?" The Grass type asked practically begging the Vulpix to agree.

"What's the point," Horizon spat putting a paw to his head, "I don't remember them, they won't have any affect on me," He leaned forward into Celebi's face after putting his paw down, "They. Mean. Nothing."

Celebi just smiled, "Let's test that," Celebi clapped her little hands together and floated behind Horizon, whispering the last part in his ear, "And let's see if you are correct."

Horizon suddenly could feel the wind, the grass, everything. He could feel the group of Ninetales. and Arcanine's presence, and he was unsure they could feel his.

"Screw you," Horizon hissed to Celebi rushing farther back into the thicker bushes behind them, "We can alter the past, are you crazy?" He demanded glaring back at the Ninetales group making sure he didn't alert them.

Horizon narrowed his eyes at the group, taking a closer look at them. After a few moments of staring, he sighed in relief. They hadn't seen them, a few had glanced back at the noise of the bushes, but nothing of enough merit to cause a reaction.

Celebi sighed shaking her head at the paranoid Vulpix, "Horizon, everything at this point is set in stone, I've tried to alter this point ot doesn't work," The Celebi's face contorted into a look of sadness, "They're all going to die, and there's nothing we can do about it."

"Wh-What!?" Horizon yelped jumping back before glaring once again at Celebi, "What do you mean? That can't be true?" Horizon looked around panicked, his mind in a rush, "That can't be true... right? Time can be altered at any point... b-but why this point in particular."

"Oh it's true Horizon," Celebi said floating close to his face, "You are stuck in a point in time that cannot be altered, anything you do will mean nothing," Celebi shrugged nonchalantly, "Or you could go along with me advise."

"Th-This can't be real! They're fake!" Horizon stammered stepping away from Celebi in a panic. Everything becoming less of a lie and more of a fearful truth, "Th-They're all fake! fakefakefakefakefake!"

"Horizon I assure you this is the past," Celebi replied with a wave of her hand, "Your past." Celebi glanced up looking past Horizon and smirked, "You should really not try to bring attention to yourself."

Horizon snorted, "I'm sick of you," he replied with a scowl, "And what do you… mean?" The fox slowly turned around following Celebi's stare, back to the group of Fire types who were now staring at them, this time noticing their presence there.

"I-I... F-Fuck- What am I?" Horizon stuttered still trying to back away from the group.

One of the Ninetales took a step closer to them, "Ny baby…" she managed out creeping forward, her eyes swelling up with tears.

"Oh how you've grown!" The older one called from behind the group.

"C-Celebi, get me out of here," Horizon hissed to the mythical. He raised a paw to his head, "I-I don't want to be here."

Celebi shrugged, "Not my problem," She floated away a small bit, which in turn made Horizon's temper spike.

Horizon just about got on his knees and begged, before the anger coursing through him got the better of the Vulpix.

"Rrrrrrrggggg," Horizon growled staring daggers at the mythical, "I would attack you… but I need you to get home," Horizon gestured back to the Ninetales without looking back, "They can't be real, th-there is no way, this is just some trick! Time can't be unchangeable." Horizon glared back at Celebi, "Send me back or else it's gonna be your damn problem."

Celebi sighed again shaking her head pitifully then gestured back to the Ninetales who stared in confusion, "Try," she said, "Maybe your attitude will shift, Perhaps for the better?" The Celebi chuckle nto herself, "We know you need that Kayo."

Horizon's mouth then filled with fire, enraged, "I Said," He grumbled before releasing a torrent of flames at the mythical, "SEND ME BACK!!"

Celebi yelped a narrowly jumped aside as my fire flew past her, luckily nothing was caught aflame as the fire wisked past the trees. She glared back at the fox before being greeted by a set of iron tails.

Celebi fell to the ground groaning, Horizon heard gasps from behind him as he stalked forward on top of the Mythical placing a paw on Celebi's neck.

Horizon narrowed his eyes at the mythical, a dark aura radiated off of him, he growled softly at the Grass type awaiting a response.

"Y-you *Cough* are d-dangerous," Celebi managed out glaring up at Horizon, "I am still not budging though."

Horizon grinned, "I'M dangerous!?" He snapped pressing harder onto Celebi's chest, "What does that make YOU a legend who can time travel and change the past? Who knows how many times you've done it!" He slammed a paw into her chest again enacting a flurry of coughs, "Whether for your own benefit or someone elses!"

"That's enough," One of the Ninetales spoke up from behind him. A tail brushed his side and Horizon simply glanced at her, confused to why she was touching him and angry over Celebi's tricks.

"Dear, get off the Celebi," She said quietly and calmly, sitting down. The Ninetales tails swished from side to side awaiting Horizon's response.

Horizon stared at the Ninetales for a moment, "Why should I?" Horizon remarked angrily, flames flowing out of his mouth.

"Dear she is your only way home," Aika replied matter-a-factly, she gestured to the ground next to her, "if my hunch is correct, you are my son, just by judging your looks," She raised a paw almost brushing Horizon's chin, "Oh my little Kayo..."

Horizon narrowed his eyes at the Ninetales. He glanced back a Celebi, who looked up. Horizon immediately pushed her head harshly back into the ground, before stepping off grumbling to himself, "Your lucky you are my only way back to my real family," he snapped at Celebi, before glaring back at Aika, "What from you?"

"You do have an attitude problem." Remarked the older Ninetales.

"And the sun shines. Whats your point exactly?"

"Ooh feisty," an Arcanine spoke this one a male around the age of Aika. He grinned as he walked towards the small group.

Horizon glared at the group, "I'll say it again," he offered snottily looking over the group, "I'm not scared."

"I'm disappointed," Aika sighed looking Horizon up at down like a piece of jewelry, "You are so disrespectful and rude." she frowned at Horizon as he glared back.

"Am I supposed to care?" He remarked with narrowed eyes raising a brow skeptically, "'Cause i don't remember any of you, nor who you are."

"You… don't?" Aika said after a moment, blinking several times.

"No I'm an amnesiac, and if i was a child when you were already dead, I can't remember you," Horizon retorted with an eyeroll, "Above all else I'm a human, there no way in hell that i am your son, it's not possible." Horizon shook his head and looked at the Ninetales sympathetically, "Sorry..."

Aika stepped back for a moment biting her lip, her tails instinctively curled around herself as the group came to her aid. Horizon did feel bad for her, but he had to tell the truth, he didn't want to give her or anyone false happiness.

"Th-That may not be true," Celebi interjected one of her arms on her chest holding her wound, "While The human soul and mind isn't yours," she continued looking at Aika and her family, "Everything else is, the body, the Vulpix soul still in there, everything else is of your son's." Celebi explained quickly, flinching under Horizon's glare.

"So I am technically their kit?" Horizon asked annoyed his glare letting up slightly, "And not some blip in the space time continuum?"

"Technically yes," Celebi said with a nod. Horizon could feel her mood shifting as well.

"I would prefer the latter." He remarked rolling his eyes.

Celebi continued and ignored Horizon's comment, "That's the reason why I brought you here, to show you that you have a family here in them and Amber, you don't have to hate your birthday!"

Horizon laughed loud and harshly, "Celebi hating my birthday is a given," He shrugged with a cocky smirk, "And i can't fix that."

"You can try," Aika offered after a moment, watching Celebi and Horizon glare at each other, "Get to know us."

Horizon looked at her a look of annoyance on his face, "I'd rather not," Horizon sighed, "Its just gonna make me feel worse about my life."

"How so?" Aika asked curiously, standing again to look at Horizon.

"It just made me realize that the one time i am capable of having a family, they are dead," Horizon yawned glaring back at her, "I just don't see the point."

Aika frowned looking away from him.

"I don't see your point," Celebi retorted angrily, "If you get to know them now you can remember them!"

"And what? Feel worse about them and myself? Worse than I already do?" Horizon sneered back, "Then what? Suffering? Sadness? When does it end?"

"Remember us," The eldest Ninetales said in monotone looking at her grandparent, "That is all."

Horizon hummed before turning to Celebi, "You know what I want." He snorted tiredly.

Celebi just sighed, "Get to know them and then I will, it's what Amber wanted." she replied crossing her arms.

Horizon stared at her, "Amber? What?" He started confused, "Oh. Oh no, she set this up didn't she?" He sighed and covered his face with a paw.

"With Blitz's help, yes," Celebi answered smiling slightly, "She just wanted you to enjoy something, this being you're birthday."

Horizon hesitated, If Amber wanted him to enjoy this… then…

"Fine, I'll humor you."

"Aug," Groaned Horizon as he shot awake back in the guild. He stood on his bed as if nothing ever happened, just before he had fallen asleep.

"Horizon!" Amber yelped surprised ushering someone from the room and flinging something underneath her bookshelf, "You got up fast… hehe,"

"I know," He sighed his brain bustling, "I'm the one that woke up."

"Hehe y-yeah…" Amber went after a moment, "So i talked to the guild master, Strife said we can work if we want or we can go… elsewhere," Amber explained quietly and quickly she didn't quite meet his eye, "If you want to of course."

Horizon narrowed his eye at her, "Ya know… let's go Yurei's cafe or around the town, we deserve a break," Horizon said looking away.

"Really!?"

"Don't make me regret it."

"You won't!"

Amber skipped from the room, Horizon followed in a slightly faster pace than his normal stride.

"Maybe today, will be a shift… maybe i can leave the past behind"
