Chapter 10: Epilogue
I couldn't believe how fast this year had gone by as I stepped into the sidewalk. There were some amounts of snow spread all over it, due to the fact it had snowed all night. The streets were decorated with Christmas' stuff and that brought a smile to my face. I love this time of the year. Unfortunately, I was the only one.
"How can you live with such a cold weather?" Piyomon said beside me as she rubbed her body with her wings, though she was wearing a blue sweater I made for her. "It's freezing in here."
"That's because it's winter."
"So why did we came downstairs? It's much warmer in your apartment."
"Because we are going to buy some ingredients to make a Christmas gift to Yamato."
"What are you going to make?"
"I'm not sure yet. Probably a cake."
"Is there a particular reason for this?"
"Well, girls give home made chocolate or a cake to boys they like on Christmas. And on White Day, they give a candy back. Depending on the color, it means the feeling is reciprocated."
"I don't understand. Why are you doing this if you're already dating him?"
"I just thought I'd give him something. We've been through a lot of misunderstandings already, so I want to make something that shows him how much I love him."
"That's very sweet!" Piyomon squealed. "Let's go then."

I couldn't help but laugh seeing Piyomon's shock when we walked into the candy store.
"Wow, Sora, there are a lot of candies here."
"Well, it's a candy store." I looked down at her. "Try not to draw attention, people aren't used to Digimon."
"Alright. So what are you going to buy?"
"Chocolate. I'm going to make him some bonbons. What do you think?"
"I think it's a great idea. Does he like it?"
"Yes, he does. A lot, actually." A smile appeared on my lips as I picked some chocolate bars.
"Are you going to give it to him tonight?"
"That's my plan. His band will perform on a TV program live."
"That's so cool! I take it you're a special guest."
"Yes, something like that." I felt my cheeks blushing and burning. "Okay, I'm done here. Do you want anything?"
"No, thanks. I'm good."
"Are you sure? You can choose anything you like. It's on me."
"Alright then." She said excitedly and then ran off to pick up something she wanted.

.

I spread the chocolate I had bought on the sink and grabbed a pan and other things I needed to make the bonbons for Yamato. Piyomon watched me very intently and curiously from the edge of the sink.
"Sora, can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Why are you going to melt this chocolate to make bonbons? Isn't it better to just buy a box instead?"
"Because doing it like this has a completely different meaning. You go through all this hard work to make the perfect bonbons to give the boy you like. It shows how deep your feelings are."
"I think I get it now. So, can I help you with something?"
"You can help me decorate them after I'm done. That's why I got the white chocolate."
"Okay!"

I squinted when the faint noise of my phone echoed in my ears. I had set the alarm clock to wake me up one hour after I had fallen asleep, but I didn't know how it had gone by so fast.
"Piyomon." I rolled over and gently shook her up. "Come on, it's time to wake up. We need to finish the bonbons; they should be done by now."
"Already?" She spoke lazily as she slowly opened her eyes. "How long have we slept?"
"About an hour. We can't sleep much because we also need to get ready for Yamato's concert."
"We? So I'm going with you?"
"Of course." I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I want you to be there with me when I give the bonbons to Yamato and also to watch his concert with me. You'll love them, I swear."
"Oh Sora!" She squealed and threw herself in my direction. "Of course I will be there with you!"
"Thank you." I hugged her back with a grin on my face.

.

"This was a mistake." There I was, standing outside the dressing room the band was. I was alright until that moment. Now I'm shaking uncontrollably. "I don't think I can do this."
"Come on, Sora! Yes, you can. This gift is just a formality, he's your boyfriend already. Why are you stopping here?"
"Because…"
A very familiar voice called my name and me and Piyomon looked over and saw Taichi and Agumon approaching us.
"Sora! What are you doing?"
I looked down at the square green package with a red lace in my hands and blushed a little. I was hoping no one would see me at that moment.
"Wow, I smell something delicious!" Gabumon suddenly opened the door from the dressing room.
"What is it?"
"Is that for Yamato?" Taichi inquired.
"Well, yeah..."
"What is it? Something homemade?" He kept pressuring to know what it was.
"Does that really matter?"
"Aren't you coming inside?"
"Sora's been hesitating for a while out here."
"Hey! Piyomon!"
"Hurry up and give it to him! They're about to start."
"Y...yeah..."
Seeing how I was still unsure about going in and giving Yamato the cake, Taichi approached me and touched my shoulder. I quickly glanced at it.
"Hurry up!" He pushed me towards the door. "It's just a present, you two are already together."
"But..." I looked back at him.
"If you don't want it, we'll eat it!"
"You know what? You're right." That was the push I needed to finally do what I came here for all along. "It'll be just a second."

"Come this way." Gabumon said, but I was barely paying attention to him because I was too busy looking around the whole place.
I was so distracted I didn't even noticed he had stopped walking and bumped into him. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry!"
"It's okay. Here we are."
"Sora?" Yamato was so surprised he even stopped playing. "I wasn't expecting to see you before the concert. Is something wrong?"
"No, no." I shook my head and smiled in his direction. "Can I talk to you in private?"
"Sure." He turned to his band mates before approaching me and placing his left hand on the lower of my back. "I'll be right back, but you can keep practicing without me."

Once we were out of their sight, he surprised me with a quick kiss on my lips. "That was such a great surprise."
"I hope I didn't interrupt much of your rehearsal."
"Absolutely not. I was going to take a break anyway."
"Good."
"So what do you want to talk about?"
"Oh right." I glanced down at the package on my hands, a little surprised he hadn't figured out. Or maybe he pretended not to. "More like give you something, to be honest."
"Give me? Alright." It was only then that he realized I had a package in my hands. "Sora… what is this?"
"Homemade chocolate and bonbons." I replied with a smile. "I spend the entire afternoon making them."
"That's very… wait a moment, did you just say homemade chocolate and bonbons?"
"Yes." I was getting a little nervous, so I took a deep breath before going on. "I know giving you this is probably useless because we're already together, but I think we've been through enough misdirection and misunderstandings. Don't you?"
"Absolutely." He grabbed the package and put it away. "I really wish I could open it right now, but eating chocolate before a concert is bad for the vocal chords. I'm sure they look delicious though."
"It's okay, don't worry about it." I assured him and looked away briefly. "There is another reason why I decided to give you this."
"What is it?" He raised his eyebrows and came in my direction.
"As I was saying, we've been through enough misdirection and misunderstandings… so this is my way of telling you that I'm very serious about us and I'm done with running away." I looked at him hopeful, but he didn't say a word, to my internal despair. "This is the time where you actually say something."
"Yamato?"
"Yeah?" He shook his head and looked at Gabumon. "I'm sorry. What did you say?"
"I didn't say anything, Sora did. Didn't you listen to her?"
"I did, I did." He turned to me. "So no more running away?"
"No more running away." I said firmly. "I love you."
The words escaped my lips before I could even control them and my eyes went wide, just like his. But saying them made me realize it was exactly how I felt and that gave me the courage to say it again.
"I love you. I'm sorry for blurting it out like this, but I do. I love you."
Next thing I knew, his arms were around my body and his lips were brushing mine. My arms were wrapped around his neck and we shared a very passionate and deep kiss. He touched my forehead with his when we finally pulled away from each other several minutes later.
"You have no idea how much I dreamed about hearing this and it finally happened." He held my forearms. "I love you too. I've been in love with you for as long as I remember. I knew it would be worth the wait."
"Now we get to live it." I pressed my lips against his briefly and then hugged him tight. "I should get going. I don't want to make you get on stage late and I also want to get a good seat."
"Okay." He ran my hands through my arms to my hands and intertwined his fingers with mine. "So will I see you afterwards?"
"Are you asking me out?"
"Would you say yes if I was?"
"I would."
"Then I'm asking you out. On a real date."
"Then I'm saying yes." I grinned at him. "Okay, I really have to go. I'll try to be in the first row."
"Cool. And also, there'll be a surprise during the concert."
"What is it?"
"You'll find out when the time comes. It's a surprise after all."
"Fine." I rolled my eyes playfully and then kissed him on the cheek. "I can barely wait for that."

.

I was beyond surprised and shocked to see the tent so crowded. But it made sense when I thought about it. The Teenage Wolves are pretty popular in school, so of course a lot of people would come to see them.
"Hey!" Taichi exclaimed when I approached him. "I was worried about you. I thought you wouldn't make it at all."
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." I replied with a smile. "Thanks for saving me this great spot."
"You're welcome." He smiled back at me. "So I assume you've seen him, right?"
"I did. And I got to give him his gift as well."
"I'm happy to hear that."
"Thanks for pushing me to do it, though."
"You don't have to thank me. I did what any friends would do."
"I know, but I'm still glad you did. Otherwise I would still be there, probably."
As he was about to reply, the first chords of the instruments echoed around and everyone went quiet. Then the lights came up and The Teenage Wolves got on stage.

I have to confess I didn't even remember when was the last time I felt so happy and whole. A lot had happened that year and it's so crazy to think I started dating the most popular boy in school, but here I am. I looked up at him with a smile and noticed he was staring back at me. He smiled in my direction and mumbled 'I love you' while returning his attention to the crowd and finishing the song.

Yamato's fan girls were so loud that night I was surprised to know we could still hear them playing. I had been waiting for the moment where he would reveal what he had been so secretive about, and it came after their fifth song.
"Good night everyone. I hope you are enjoying this concert." He paused because the girls went crazy again and he waited for them to become quiet. "We have a little surprise for you all. This is the first time we're going to perform a song I wrote a few months ago dedicated to a very special person." He glanced at me very, very briefly. "She knows who she is. I hope you enjoy it. Let's go."

But unfortunately, some strange noises could be heard between the sound of the instruments and they were very disturbing, to the point we had to cover our ears to make it less loud.
"What is going on over here?" I looked at Taichi with a confused expression.
"I have no idea, but there seems to be an interference somehow."
"Look out!"
Everything happened so fast we barely had time to register it. People were rushing outside as fast as they could, not at all bothered if they were running over other people on their way. Taichi and I exchanged looks after we both looked towards the stage, where the band still was. The concert had to be interrupted because Digimon managed to cross the portal and come into our world.
"Well, I guess it's time for us to jump into action, right?"
"That seems like it." I looked up just in time to see an attack coming in our direction. "Let's split up."
"Good idea."

Piyomon and I ran towards to the stage, to get near Yamato and get him out of there.
"What are you doing here?" He asked alarmed. "You two were supposed to be out of here already. It's dangerous."
"I can say the same about you. I couldn't leave you behind."
"Let's go." He grabbed my hand and we rushed out as quick as we could, without drawing too much attention.

"Are you okay?" He asked after we found a safe place to stay and immediately pulled me into a hug.
"I am." I hugged him back and rested my head on his shoulder. "What about you?"
"Me too."
"Are you sure?" I pulled away and cupped his face, staring into his eyes intensely. "You were so close to that DarkTyrannomon I was really afraid he would attack you."
"You were afraid of it?" He couldn't help but smile. "I think it's cute."
"Silly." I slapped him in the arm playfully. "I find it sweet that you are being all lovely, but there's something we need to do here."
"You're right." He reached for his digivice in his pocket and turned to Gabumon. "Are you ready?"
"Always."
Yamato then grabbed my hand we ran to where the others were. And the rest is history.
