"Wow," the yellow puppet said in amazement as Kylie pushed him back and forth on the swing hanging from the tree branch. "I've never been pushed this high on the swing before. Harry and Robin never push me this high." The nine-year-old child giggled and explained how she had lots of practice since she had pushed her friends on the swings plenty of times.
"Are we Friends? Umm, what's your name again?" Manny inquired. "I forgot."
"It's Kylie," the little girl replied as she began to push slower," and yeah, we can be friends if you want to. But, also, can I stop trying now? My arms are starting to get tired."
"Well, okay, friend," Manny replied, only for Kylie to giggle at him in response, "huh, what's so funny?" The little yellow puppet boy tilted" his head, looking at the child with the most confused expression, which made her giggle even more. She found it quite adorable "have I got something on my face?"
"Oh no, no, of course not, it's just that, well, you don't have to call me friend, just Kylie will do," the girl replied as she finally managed to compose herself before sitting on the grass as Manny joined her "so anyway, what do you wanna play now, how long do we have left before we have to go back inside?" Twiddling his thumbs, Manny pointed out that Harry and Robin usually let him play outside for at least one hour and that they had maybe 45 minutes to spare.
"We could maybe play hide and seek," he replied innocently. "Do you want to count, and I'll hide?" Kylie gave him a small smile and said, "sure, you go hide, and I'll count." Manny ran off to hide with a playful giggle as Kylie put her hands over her eyes and began to count. As she finished counting, the young girl pulled her hands away from her eyes to find what appeared to be a Butterfly flying right in front of her, and with a startled gasp, Kylie almost stumbled back. It seemed to be bigger than most Butterflies, with yellow wings covered with what appeared to be swirls and hearts. Kylie also noticed that he seemed to have what looked like another heart on his front.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." the Butterfly spoke with a soft, friendly tone. "I would have said hello sooner, but I thought it would have been rude of me to interrupt you when you were busy." He flew closer to the young girl, who gave him a suspicious look.
"Y..you were watching me. How long for?" she inquired.
"Just before you reached the final number," the Butterfly replied. "I was curious because I've never seen anyone like you here before. So tell me, how did you end up in our world?" He hovered a little closer to the young girl, tilting his head as though he was studying her.
"I...I don't know," the child replied, "it's hard to explain. The minute I was in my room, a bunch of weird things happened, and then the next thing, I'm waking up in this place."
"Well, I bet you must be feeling Lonely," the Butterfly implied as the little Nine-year-old girl looked at him with a confused expression, "being trapped in a strange place where no one knows who or what you are."
"Not really," the girl replied. "I'm staying with..."
"Of course, a sweet little thing like you shouldn't have to be alone," the Butterfly spoke, cutting her off, "and I think me and my friends could help you. We'll make sure that you'll never be alone again."
"Well, I don't know. My parents always told me never to go off with strangers," Kylie replied innocently. Also, she seemed to have a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. "I think I'd better get going. I was in the middle of something, so I'd better get going." She was about to find Manny, but as she turned around to head in the opposite direction, the Butterfly appeared in front of her again, almost like he had teleported.
"Come now. You don't want to be Lonely all your life, do you?" he questioned. "I promise, if you come with me, you will never be alone again." She didn't know what was happening, but Kylie suddenly felt the urge to go with him, and she couldn't figure out why. It was almost like the Butterfly had some kind of hypnotic tone to his voice, the kind that could lure small children away.
"Well, I..."
"Manny, Kylie, it's time to come back inside now," Robin's auto-tune voice called from the house, bringing Kylie back to reality.
"Yeah, our show is about to begin," Harry's monotone voice followed. Kylie gave the Butterfly an apologetic look and told them that she had to go before running back to the house with Manny running out of his hiding spot, following behind. Once the two children were inside, the four gathered in the living room to watch their show on the tv showing nothing but static.
"Come on guys, stop mucking around," Harry suddenly stated as Kylie looked at him in confusion "we only have five minutes until our shows on."
"That's not enough time," Robin replied, looking at his little pocket watch. Kylie, who was currently sitting on a wooden chair next to where Manny was sitting, pulled her knees up to her chin, the child could sense that something was about to happen, and she was proved right when the clock that was hanging on the wall, suddenly spoke to the group.
"There's always time for a song."
