Addison parked her car outside Zed's house. After she had finished with work for the day, she had driven home to get changed and freshened up, and now it was time for one of her favorite parts of the day. Dinner with Zed. It was about a week and a half since her birthday and things were still going great with everything for the summer, but she wouldn't miss spending time at the Necrodopolis house for anything.
She stepped out of the car, walked to the front porch, and knocked on the door. A few moments later the door opened to reveal a beaming Zoey, who immediately launched herself into Addison's arms for a hug.
"Hi Addison!" Zoey greeted her excitedly, still holding tightly to her. "How was your day?"
"It was great Zoey, but just the usual cheerleading and then froyo." Addison reached down to ruffle her hair. "How was your day?"
"Really fun! Kinzley and I spent nearly all day at the playground today, it was awesome, and we did a bunch of flips off the monkey bars. She just got her moonstone two days ago and she already feels so much better than ever too!"
"I'm happy to hear that." Addison finally stepped through the door when Zoey released her death grip. "Mmm, what's your dad cooking? It smells delicious." Addison sighed in happiness as she sniffed the mouthwatering scents coming from the kitchen.
"Daddy isn't cooking. Zed is." Zoey told her, "Daddy said he had to work late tonight, but he should still be here in time for us to eat together."
"Zed's cooking, huh? Do you know what he's cooking?"
"I don't know, he said it was something new."
"Well, it sure does smell good."
"Yeah it does, I'm sure it will be delicious."
"Think we can find out? I'm sure he won't keep a secret if we ask him together." Addison smirked down at Zoey and made her break down in giggles.
"Yeah! That sounds like a great idea! Come on, let's go!" Zoey grabbed Addison's hand and they walked into the kitchen together.
"Good evening Zed."
"Good evening Addison." Zed turned from the stove for a moment to smile at her.
"Zoey filled me in, I hear you're the chef tonight."
"You got that right."
"So, what are you making?"
"It's a surprise." Zed grinned knowingly at her.
"Even for me, your girlfriend?" And your cute little sister?" Zoey and Addison both shot Zed with their best puppy dog eyes.
Zed caught on to what they were trying to do and quickly turned his attention back to the stove to avoid their gazes. "It's a surprise." He sang out.
Addison raised her eyebrow at Zoey, who nodded and motioned her forward. Addison stepped forward and circled her hand around Zed's waist and peered around his side to look in the pan. She could see little balls of something frying in oil, but she had no idea what they were, and the steam wafting up smelled good, but she couldn't tell anything from that either.
"Whatever it is, it sure looks good."
"Thank you," Zed said, resolutely not turning his head to look at her.
Undeterred, she pulled herself up to his shoulders, Zed stumbled a little until he caught his balance, while she was holding him over the top of his shoulders with one arm, while she cupped her other hand over his ear. She whispered, "but not as good as you do." Then she nibbled his ear, and she loved feeling the shivers down his spine.
"OK." Zed quickly scooped out the latest batch of whatever onto a nearby plate and then turned around, giving Addison just enough time to let go and back away to Zoey's side.
"I see you two aren't afraid to play dirty tonight."
"Who said anything about playing dirty? Certainly not me." Addison and Zoey both smiled cutely at him.
"Well, if you really want to know, I found a recipe for this stuff called falafel, and it's zombie diet friendly so I thought I'd try something new. Are you happy?"
"Yes, now was that so hard to say." Zoey jumped forward to hug Zed's legs.
"No, I suppose it wasn't. Maybe I just like torturing you a little when I can." Zed chuckled, "both of you that is. Whenever I try to surprise either of you, you can never wait."
"That's just because we know your surprises are always the best Zed." Addison reached out to hug him too. "And I'm sure this one will be no different."
"I'll let you be the judge of that. Do you two want to set the table? I have one more batch to make and Pops will be back home soon."
"You got it Zed." Addison nodded. "Zoey, can you show me where everything is?"
"Yeah, you got it! Addison come on!" Zoey led her to the right cupboard to grab all the plates while Zoey took out their silverware and they both got to work. By the time they finished Zed brought the falafel and all the other food, he made to the table. The three of them all sat down a few moments before they heard the front door open and close, and Zevon soon walked into the kitchen.
"Daddy! Welcome home!" Zoey ran up to greet Zevon excitedly with another hug.
"Thank you, my little zombie angel." Zevon leaned down to hug her just as tightly. "Zed, whatever that stuff is, it sure smells delicious, and Addison, great to see you as always."
"Thanks Zevon."
"Thanks Pops."
"So, let's eat! I don't know about you guys, but I'm starving!" Zevon grinned and pretty soon all four of them were digging in with gusto.
After everyone had finished their first, and second helpings Zed asked his dad. "So Pops, why'd you have to work late tonight?"
"Actually Zed, I wasn't working late tonight, I was doing something else."
"What is it Daddy?" Zoey glanced up looking worried, but she relaxed seeing Zevon still smiling.
"Let's just say…I have a surprise….parked out front." Zevon said, slowly drawing out every word.
"What?" Zoey asked, and then she and Zed both shot off like a rocket to the front door.
Zevon and Addison both shared a chuckle at their reaction before following them out, Addison would be lying if she said she wasn't curious too.
When Addison and Zevon made it out to the porch, Zoey and Zed were already excitedly circling a silver car parked right behind Addison's.
"Wait, Pops, did you buy me a car?" Zed asked.
"No, not quite son." Zevon shook his head with a chuckle, "Those wheels are all mine." He laughed and jingled his keys.
"Oh," Zed's face fell for a moment before his face shone even brighter. "This is so great Pops. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks, son. After twenty years, I figured it was time, especially now that I finally have a license. But that's not the only good news I have."
"What is it? What is it?" Zoey asked, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Now that we have a car, I think it's time for the first-ever Necrodopolis Family Vacation!" Zevon announced.
"Really? Where are we going to go?" Zoey started jumping up and down even higher in excitement.
"I don't know for sure yet Zoey, we'll all be deciding that together as a family."
"When are we going Pops?" Zed asked.
"Next week, so Zed, make sure you talk to Coach to clear your schedule if you can."
"Yeah, I'm sure that won't be a problem." Zed had to fight to keep his voice even, and Addison instantly knew what was wrong so she stepped forward and ran her hand comfortingly up and down his back.
"It'll be OK, it's only a week, and you'll be having fun." She whispered to him.
"I know but-"
"Oh, and before you two make any long faces," Zevon interrupted them. "Addison, I think I speak for all of us when I say we would love to have you join us."
"Really Zevon?" Addison's own slightly pained smile returned to being a genuine grin.
"Of course, honestly it would probably be a good idea to have someone who's actually traveled before. Other than Zed's games I haven't left Seabrook in fifty years, much less, you know driven anywhere."
"I would love to, but I'll have to ask my parents first."
"Don't even worry about that. Do you think I would bring this up to you two without asking Missy and Dale first if it was OK?"
"Really? Zevon, you're literally the greatest!" This time Addison ran up to surround him in a hug, and moments later, Zed and Zoey joined in to make it a family hug.
"You're welcome Addison. Now let's get inside, now that the cat's out of the bag, we can really get to the fun part. We've got some planning to do, and not very long to do it." Zevon squeezed them all tighter one last time and then they all ran back inside with excited smiles on their faces.
A few days later, Addison was packing up the last of her things in her suitcase, while also going through a mental checklist to make sure she had everything she needed. She could hardly stand still she was so excited. Her phone buzzed from her nightstand so she bounced over to check it.
Zed had texted her. We just left the house, we'll be there in five minutes Addison.
See you soon. Addison texted back.
Still beaming brilliantly she shouldered her backpack and pulled her suitcase down the stairs behind her where her parents were both waiting in the living room.
"Are you all packed?" Missy asked.
"Yep, and I already double-checked everything." Addison nodded. "Zed said they'll be here in a few minutes. Are you all ready for your houseguest?"
"You bet we are, from what I've seen, I'm hoping Zoey has him so trained he won't be too much of a problem."
"Don't worry Mom, I'm sure he won't make too much of a mess, and I wouldn't be surprised if Zoey taught him to cheer at this point."
"I'm sure we'll have plenty of fun, but not as fun as all of you will be," Dale reassured both of them.
"And I expect plenty of pictures." Missy reminded her.
"Don't worry Mom, I'll remember, I want to make sure I remember this for a long time too."
Right then they heard a car pull up outside and a few moments later, the doorbell rang, but Addison was already at the door. "Good morning Zoey."
"Good morning Addison!" Zoey cheered, "I'm so excited for today!"
"Me too Zoey."
"And so is Puppy, aren't you Puppy?" Zoey asked him, he was standing at her feet on his leash.
"Bark!"
"It's great to see you Zoey, and of course, it's good to see Puppy too." Missy smiled down at her as Zoey walked in, followed by Zed, who was carrying Puppy's kennel, and then Zevon, who had a box filled with everything else Puppy would need.
"Need help with that Zevon? Dale took the box from a grateful Zevon."
"Thanks Dale." Zevon smiled.
"So Missy, where do you want this?" Zed asked.
"Over here in the corner of the dining room would be great Zed." Missy pointed and Zed followed her directions and set down the kennel.
"Thanks so much for watching Puppy for us this week," Zevon said again.
"It's no trouble at all," Missy promised, "as long as all of you have fun. Plus it doesn't hurt that this little guy is so cute." Missy reached down to pet Puppy who was wagging his tail in excitement.
"Zoey, how about you run through everything with Missy and Dale one more time?" Zevon suggested.
"OK."
Zoey handed the leash to Missy and then ran over to the box Dale had set on the kitchen counter to start digging through it. "This is his food bowl, and this is his water bowl. Zoey held up a pink and a green steel bowl. He gets one scoop for breakfast and one scoop of food for dinner. And we go for a walk before he eats breakfast, and then usually whenever I get home in the afternoon, and then before bedtime, but he also knows how to use the potty pads in an emergency. And this is his favorite toy to play with. Zoey held up a squeaky toy shaped like a brain, but he also really likes tug of war or just playing fetch. And usually, he sleeps with me at night, but I left one of my T-shirts you can put in his kennel to help him sleep better. Any questions?"
"No, think we got is Zoey. But we'll call Addison to talk to you if we need anything." Dale promised her.
"But I'm sure Puppy we'll be fine since he's such a good boy." Missy cooed at him.
"I know he is. Now Puppy," Zoey got down on her knees to lean in close to him. "you be good for Missy and Dale, I'm going to miss you, but I promise I'll be back next week. Be a good boy. OK?"
"Ruff ruff!" Puppy barked.
"Good boy." Zoey hugged him one more time and then stood up.
"You all have fun, and drive safe, and all of you are welcome to call us too if you need anything," Missy promised.
"We will," Zevon promised.
"So what's on the itinerary for today?" Dale asked.
"Just driving today. Hopefully, we'll make it to our hotel by tonight and then spend all day tomorrow at Adventureland." Zevon said.
"Well, you all have fun, and we can't wait to see you when you get back," Missy said once again.
"We'll be too, I'm sure. So Addison, are you ready?" Zed asked.
"Yep, let's get this show on the road!" Addison cheered.
So Zed grabbed Addison's suitcase for her and he and the rest of his family started heading out the door while Addison's parents pulled her in for a hug.
"Be good, listen to Zevon. And have plenty of fun." Missy whispered in her ear.
"And be safe," Dale whispered too.
"I know Dad. I love you guys, I'll see you next week."
"We love you too." They both replied and squeezed her even tighter for a moment before letting her go.
"And hey, if Puppy does anything cute send it to me so I can show Zoey."
"We will." Missy laughed.
Addison ran out the door and the porch to join Zoey in the backseat, Zed was riding shotgun, and Zevon was in the driver's seat for now. He promised both of them would probably have plenty of chances at the wheel but he was going to start them out, and of course, Zoey made sure she had Addison in the back with her.
"Everyone buckled in?"
"Yep, we're all ready to go Pops." Zed glanced back and winked at her.
"Then here we go!" Zevon cheered, as they drove away, Missy and Dale waved them goodbye until they turned the corner and were out of sight.
They spent most of the day on the road, but none of them ever got bored, they were all still way too excited. Zoey in particular loved playing I Spy, mostly because she had never seen anything like everything outside of Seabrook before. They only stopped twice, once for lunch, and that was also an adventure in itself since Zed and Zoey both insisted on going through the drive-through.
Then after they ate lunch Zed and Zevon switched seats so Zed could have his first real-world experience on the road, despite Zoey's jokes about asking for an extra seatbelt and airbag, he drove just fine, and when it was Addison's turn at the wheel later, no one had any worries.
Finally, after Zevon had taken over again, they finally pulled into the parking lot of their hotel with a sigh of relief. "Well kids, looks like we made it, and in one piece, so I call that a success."
"We may be in one piece, but my legs aren't just asleep, they're undead." Zed groaned slightly as he jumped out of the car and started stretching himself out beside it.
"Oh really? I bet I know how to make them feel better." Addison got out of the car and hugged him from behind, pressing her cheek against his back.
"I bet you do." Zed turned his head to smile down at her. "Right from the start you caught my eye, and something inside me came to life."
"Come on guys, grab your bags." Zevon popped open the trunk and Zed made his way over before anyone else.
"Zed, what are you doing?' He asked.
"Don't worry Pops, I can take all of them." He insisted.
"I'm sure you can super zombie." Addison laughed at him.
Zoey questioned him with a giggle, "What are you trying to impress Addison or something? Why?"
"Don't stop him Zoey, if he wants to carry our things for us, I say we let him. Besides I'm sure he's gonna be fine, right Zed?"
"Ain't no doubt about it Addison. This is light work for me."
"I'm sure." Zevon just shook his head. "Well, if you two want to stay with Mr. Muscles and make sure he doesn't drop anything on the way inside, I'll go get us checked in."
"Sounds good Zevon. I'll make sure they don't get into any trouble." Addison promised.
"Hey! Zed's the only one who'll get in trouble on vacation!" Zoey said indignantly.
"I don't know Zoey, I feel like any combination of the three of you will land in something before long. I'll meet you three inside." Zevon laughed once more before turning to walk inside.
"You sure you have everything Zed?" Addison asked, he had his backpack on his shoulders, and all suitcases stacked in his arms.
Zed lowered his arms enough so he could just barely peak over the top. "Don't worry, everything's under control. Let's head inside."
"Come on Zoey, we can help steer him." Addison smiled down at her.
"OK!" Zoey cheered, and they each lightly grabbed one of Zed's arms and steered him toward the doors.
"Just so you know, I'm trusting you not to make me run into a wall or something," Zed warned them.
"Come on, you always trust us, don't you?"
Zed glanced to the side to meet her eyes, "Always." He said quietly.
They made it inside without incident and Zevon was already walking towards them from the front desk. "OK, you three, elevators are that way." Zevon pointed to the right. "We're on the third floor."
"Pops, that doesn't really help me." Zed joked.
"Come on you. We've still got you, don't we Zoey?"
"Yep, yep yep." Zoey giggled and tugged on Zed's arm to lead him toward the elevators.
A few minutes later, they arrived in their room and after Zoey excitedly opened the door with the key card, Zed lowered all the suitcases to the ground and looked around. Meanwhile, Zoey excitedly jumped up on one of the beds, laid down spread-eagled and started cackling in excitement.
"This is so cool! This is going to be the best vacation ever!"
"I'm sure it will be Zoey." Addison laughed along with her. "What are you most excited about?"
"The zoo of course, and also Adventureland tomorrow, I just can't wait to see absolutely everything, and we get to stay every night in this super great hotel! And Zed told me hotel breakfasts are super awesome, and they have pretty much everything you could ever want, is that true?"
"I don't know about everything Zoey, but I'm sure you'll love it."
"And I even saw a sign for a pool! In our hotel! Can we go swimming?"
"Hold on Zoey, how about for tonight at least we all rest up and take it easy. We've had a long day in the car, and we're going to have a really long day tomorrow." Zevon tried to calm her down a bit.
"Exactly, we've been stuck in the car all day, and even though it was super fun, I really want to go swimming. Please." Zoey begged.
"Pops, don't worry. Addison and I can take her." Zed offered.
"Really? Can I trust you two in the pool together?" Zevon raised an eyebrow, making Addison blush.
"Of course you can, and you really think Zoey won't make Addison help her gang up on me in whatever games we play?"
"I'm just kidding you two. If you want to go swimming, I trust you guys. I'll order a pizza. Or two pizzas from room service." Zevon corrected himself when Zed held up two fingers. "We'll all eat dinner when you get back. Sound good?"
"Sounds great Zevon."
"You got it Pops."
"Yeah! Let's go!" Zoey quickly grabbed her swimsuit from her bag and ran into the bathroom to change.
"Now, while Zoey's in the bathroom," Zevon glanced over at them. "I've already told Zed this, but Addison it's your call what you want to do for sleeping arrangements. Now, I assume I already know the answer, but what do you want to do this week?"
"Well," Addison felt her face heating up slightly, but she relaxed as Zed squeezed her hand for a moment. "if I had to choose, I know I'll sleep the best with Zed right beside me every night."
"I figured as much, and I'm OK with that. Just remember you two, zombie hearing."
"Of course we'll be good Pops, as Eliza would say we might give you a cavity but we wouldn't do anything bad with both of you ten feet away from us."
"Of course Zevon, I promise we wouldn't do anything different than at Christmas with my parents."
"I know, I love both of you guys. I just had to set some things straight, and while I don't expect any problems, I do still have veto power, understand?"
"Yes Pops."
"Yes Zevon."
"Good, I hope both of you have lots of fun this week." Zevon's stern face returned to his usual smile.
Just then Zoey ran out of the bathroom, with her T-shirt and shorts covering her swimsuit, and she was even more fired up than before. "I'm ready! Come on let's go!"
"OK Zoey, I'll be in and out," Addison promised and took her turn in the bathroom.
A few minutes later they walked into the pool area. Thankfully it looked like they had it all to themselves for the moment at least. Zoey hurriedly took off her extra clothes and then jumped into the pool to start swimming as soon as they walked in.
Zed and Addison took a more casual walk to the pool chairs that Zoey had tossed all her things at and took off their clothes too. While they did their best to control themselves, neither could resist the pull they had on the other while doing so as Addison revealed her pink bikini once more, and Zed proudly showed his muscular gray chest to the world.
"I see what you did there," Zed walked behind Addison and held her around her waist while whispering in her ear, "if Pops knew everything we did over Christmas, he probably wouldn't have agreed to your terms."
"Well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him, and it's not like we'd go that far with him and Zoey in the room." She whispered back.
"You know, I'm sure Pops will let me borrow the keys for a little while if we need to."
"I like the way you're thinking I can almost see it." Addison grinned back. "I can't wait to see what happens this week."
"Me neither, 'cause girl you look delicious."
"OK, that's enough." Addison laughed and stepped away from Zed. "We don't need Zoey reporting on us the first five minutes we've been unsupervised."
"As long as it isn't the last, I think I'll survive." Zed grinned, then he quickly pecked her cheek and ran to the edge of the pool to take a flying leap into a massive cannonball that flooded over half the room, including Addison.
When he surfaced, he grinned back at her. "You said, nothing different than Christmas!"
"Oh, you're in trouble now Buster!" Addison warned him as she more calmly slid into the pool from the side. Zoey quickly surfaced beside her.
"It took you two long enough, what were you talking about up there?"
"Nothing you need to worry about Zoey," Addison promised as she started swimming along with her. "So what do you want to do?"
"How about a hold-your-breath contest?"
Addison shook her head "I already know your secret power for that Zoey."
"Zed, why do you tell her everything?" Zoey whined.
"Because I love her." Zed swam up to them and reached with one arm to hold onto Addison's waist beneath the water.
"Since I know I'm going to lose that, how about you two go?"
"No, Zed always beats me, he's too much bigger. How about Marco Polo?"
"Sure thing Zoey, do you want to go first?"
"No, Zed should." Zoey declared.
"Alright. I'll give you thirty seconds." Zed closed his eyes and start counting, "1, 2, 3…"
"Come on," Zoey whispered and pulled Addison to the other end of the pool before abruptly separating and swimming fast away from her.
"What are you up to Zoey?"
"I'm pretty sure Zed can find you just from your heartbeat since even I can hear it, so I'm getting far away from you and hoping you're his number one target."
"Aren't you a devious little cutie?" Addison giggled at her.
"And 30!" Zed announced at the other end of the pool. "Marco!" Zed shouted.
"Polo!" Addison and Zoey both yelled and started putting more distance between each other.
Addison had a feeling that Zoey would be right that she would always be Zed's number one target but instead, he was making a beeline straight toward Zoey.
"Marco!"
"Polo!"
"Marco!"
"Polo!"
That was all it took, even though Zoey tried her hardest to swim away, Zed was quickly able to catch her arm and open his eyes to smile at her. "Got you Zoe."
"No fair, I forgot about our powers until you started counting."
"Hey, you chose the game. Do you want to keep playing?"
"Sure. I bet I can catch both you and Addison!"
"Oh really?"
"Yeah!"
"OK then. Addison you ready for round two?" Zed called out to her.
"You bet Zed. Zoey are you ready?"
"Yep. 1, 2, 3…"
Zed immediately swam over to Addison's side. "Grab on." he lowered himself down in the water beside her.
"Why?"
"Well, Zoey can definitely track both of us by our heartbeats with her eyes closed. I can always hear you but with just the three of us here, Zoey's was just as noticeable when I was looking for it. So I think both of us together can confuse her."
"You better not be planning to use me as a sacrifice at the last minute." Addison said as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
"Of course not. I'll keep you safe, even from adorable zombie angels like Zoey." Zed grinned.
"And Thirty! Marco!"
"Polo!" Zed and Addison yelled out, Zed began moving smoothly through the water while Zoey started heading closer to them, once again making it obvious she too could tell exactly where they were just like Zed did.
Zed and Addison held each other tight as they started going around the pool in a big circle while Zoey swam after them, completely locked on target no matter what. Zed eventually slowed down enough for Zoey to close in on them, and right before Zoey tagged him, he spun himself around so Zoey ended up tagging Addison instead.
"Ha! I got you!" Zoey cheered.
"Yeah, you sure did Zoey. But someone else is in trouble now."
"All's fair in Marco Polo." Zed grinned back happily at her.
"We'll have to see about that." Addison laughed at him and let go. "But I guess it's my turn now." Addison closed her eyes and started counting, "1, 2, 3…"
"Come on Zoey, let's go." Zed held out his hand for her to take.
"No way! I know you'll just throw me at Addison when she gets close as you did to her. I'm going out on my own." Zoey dove under the water and swam away.
"OK then." Zed swam over the far wall away from where Addison was currently standing.
"And Thirty! Marco!"
"Polo!" Zoey and Zed both yelled out, and to Zed's dismay and Zoey's delight, Addison started heading in his direction instead of Zoey's.
"Marco!"
"Polo!"
"Marco!"
"Polo!"
Addison got gradually closer to Zed, but if she ever got too close, Zed could quickly swim away to safety, or at least he did until Zoey seemed to realize Addison's plan in addition to shouting Polo every time, she also started shouting directions at Addison.
Zed wasn't too worried though, or at least until when he turned to glance back at Addison for a moment Zoey latched onto his back and then reached around to cover his eyes with a giggle. "Addison! Come get him now!"
Zed tried to gently shake her off, but to no avail, she was hanging on like a monkey. He finally pried her hand away from his eyes, just in time to see Addison reach out and tag him.
"Looks like I found you handsome." Addison opened his eyes and met his own.
"I think it looks like you cheated, but I'm not too mad." Zoey finally let go of his back and he scooped both of his favorite girls into his arms for a hug. "You know, I bet the pizza's here by now, so how about we head back up to the room?"
"Sounds good Zed." Addison agreed.
"Alright, but only because I'm starving!"
Zed let the girls go and they all swam over to the stairs to walk out of the pool and towel off.
"I don't know about you," Zed whispered in Addison's ear, "but I wouldn't mind coming down here again, just the two of us."
Addison shivered, feeling his breath against her ear, and then smiled coyly at him. "Good, because that's on my agenda too. I promise we'll find some time to sneak away. And then nothing will be between us."
"I sure hope so, you know that hot tub over there looks pretty great." Zed wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind, and Addison leaned back into his chest.
"And I can't let my favorite zombie get too cold. That's definitely on the agenda too."
"I can't wait."
"Are you two ready to go?" Zoey asked them, breaking their bubble, she was already dressed again while Zed and Addison had only managed to towel themselves dry before getting distracted.
"Yep, just give us like a minute Zoey." They broke away from each other and put their shirts and shorts on, making it easier for both of them to stay focused, even if they each kept stealing glances at each other on the way back to their room.
After everyone took turns showering the chlorine out of their hair and tearing apart their pizzas they just spent the rest of the night relaxing in the hotel room altogether until it was finally time for lights out in anticipation of their big day tomorrow.
After everyone shared a round of goodnights and Zevon turned off the lights, Zed and Addison curled up together under the blankets.
"So I'm happy to know a return to the pool is on your agenda," Zed whispered to Addison, whose head was resting on the pillow across from him only a few inches away, but the rest of their bodies pressed tightly together. "What else do you have planned?"
"Oh, I don't know for sure. As much as I love Zoey and your dad, I also want to spend as much time alone with you as I can when I don't have to worry about work or cheer or anything. Only you."
"It can be us, it can be only us. Whenever we can get away, we'll do it. This is going to be so much fun, and I will be the first to admit the best part is having you here. Cause if you weren't I know I'd be miserable thinking about how many miles away you were back in Seabrook."
"Trust me, I would be the exact same way until you got home. Plus a whole week of getting to sleep next to you. I'm going to have so much energy when we get back, Bree and Bucky will both tell me I have too much pep."
"Yeah, and when I get back on the field, not even Wynter will be able to tackle me." Zed joked.
"I love you Zed."
"I love you too Addison."
"Gar Gar Gaza."
"Gar Gar Gaza."
