Chapter Two: The Search

A day has passed since Happy and Pepper joined forces with Peter to find out happened to Aunt May. Pepper had kept her word and Tony has been left in the dark about what was going on. She didn't like it but thought it would be best, at least until they get more information about what they were up against.

Pulling up to Peters and Aunt May's apartment complex, Peter noticed that all the police that surrounded the building were gone. Opening the passenger side door, he stepped out and looked up and down the street. There was not even a single police car insight.

Pepper and Happy headed inside the apartment building, followed by Peter. After a few moments, they were in the elevator, heading up to the fourth floor.

"Where are the cops?" Peter finally asked.

"I called in a favor. I don't know how long we got, but it should be enough to find some clues," Pepper said.

Peter nodded, the elevator doors opened and Peter lead the way down the hall to the last door on the right. Sighing, he scratched his head as he pulled out his keys. It was strange not hearing Mr. Dillard's TV or Ms. Winters' classical music. He even missed the smell of Mr. Taylor's heavy cigar smoke. All he wanted was for everything to go to normal, but could it after all of this

Happy placed a hand on Peter's shoulder. Glancing at him, Peter finally opened the door.

Not much changed since Peter had been here. The floor was still riddled with debris. With Dry blood on the carpet to the bloodstain outline of where he found his aunt. The only thing that changed was the yellow tape and evidence cards all round the living room.

Stepping over the cards and police tape, Peter made his way down the hall to his room, but not before stopping in front of his aunt's door. Staring at it for a moment, a smile tugged at the corner of his cheek. He remembered how aunt may would always pop her head of the room early in the morning before he would head out to school.

Shaking it off, Peter headed on to his room. He needed to grab a few things before helping the others look.

In the living room, Happy swallowed hard as he looked over the couch with all the cotton ripped out and spread over to the carpet to the broken glass table that held a mixed of glass paper on the carpet. Not able to find anything, Happy continued on to the kitchen.

Looking around the living room, Pepper notices a paper trail leading toward a corner of the room. Picking up each piece of paper, she would stop to read it before continuing on to the next one.

What she was reading was in the present tense. She noticed one more piece of paper on the ground, but something told her not to touch it. Instead, she looked up and noticed the silhouette of someone in the corner. But it was too dark to make out.

Pepper found herself staring at The Silhouette as it turned and looked in her direction. It didn't speak, but it took a step closer towards her. A mixture of curiosity and fear swirled around in Pepper's mind. She wanted to know who or what was in front of her. But what if it hurt her or worse? Yet she couldn't take her eyes off it. When she moved her head to the side, so did the silhouette. It even raised its hand, just like her. This made her more and more curious. She even found herself moving towards the figure as well. Her mind was screaming at her to back away, but her feet were telling her otherwise.

"Hey!" a voice shouted.

As if snapping out of a trance, Pepper looked up and realized Happy and Peter were standing in front of her. They stared down at the silhouette who stood there. It leaned overlooking for Pepper, who found herself looking out from behind Happy. But the moment Peter took a step forward, the silhouette turned around and ran busting through the window. Happy and Peter ran over to the window hoping to catch an image of whoever that was on the ground but they were gone.

"You, okay?" Happy asked, looking back at Pepper.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Pepper said.

Peter picked up a piece of paper off the floor and looked it over. Pepper joined him, noticing the other sheets in her hand as he gave it to her. Putting the papers in order, Pepper handed them to Peter.

"What is it?" Happy asked.

"Chapter Part Two: The Search?" Peter said as he continued reading over the pages. "That person must of wrote this some parts are even about before we got here."

Peter handed the papers to Happy before pacing the floor. He didn't like this at all. Whoever that was, could they have been stalking him? Did they hurt his aunt? Would they strike again? With more questions than answers, Peter stopped and took a deep breath.

"This is creepy look um let's check on my friend Ned. I wanna make sure he's okay." Peter said.

"Good idea" Pepper said.

Happy and Peter headed to the door with Pepper behind them. Stopping at the door frame, looking back at the living, then at the papers in her hand. Her mind wandered back to the encounter she had with the human like silhouette. This was getting more and more intriguing by the minute. While she couldn't explain it, she had a bad feeling about what would come next. For the hairs on her arms, neck and back stood on end as eerie chill caused her to shiver. Oh, she didn't like this one bit. All she could hope for is that get some answers soon before someone else get hurt.
