Chapter Four: The Beginning of Divinus Magia, the Guild of Second Chances.
It's been six months since the coronation of King Steve. Since then, the Diabolus twins had completed the S class trials and managed to get SS rank and they had finished their preparations to open Divinus Magia. They had since moved to a new Island where their guild hall would be. Today was the day that they would be meeting with the royal guild council to register their guild.
The twins woke up early that morning and made their way to the kitchen where they made their breakfast. Today they had biscuits with sausage and bacon. It wasn't a big serving since they had used up most of their savings to hire a construction company to build their guild hall, buy furniture for it and had four mouths to feed. Thankfully they didn't need to worry about training equipment due to the sponsorship from Mason's Magic Training Company. So, they had at least few thousand Jewels to their name which was enough to last them a few years if no one else joined the guild but seeing has they needed guild members they needed to get more money.
Has soon has they were done they made their way to the mainland and to the council building near the palace grounds. When they arrived, a secretary was waiting for them. After checking in with them the secretary told them that they would be meeting with the council in a few minutes after they discussed some other topics they needed to talked about.
"Mr. Ritche and Brandon? The Royal Guild Council is ready to see you now. Please head on in." The secretary smiled has they made their way into the room. It was a rather nice and large room, being circular in shape but still more than large enough to hold the three royal guild's representatives.
Each royal guild was required to have two representatives on the council per guild. This always consisted of the guild's leader and their right hand man. While it wasn't an official rule it was the way things had been since the council had been established five thousand years ago when guilds first to become established.
Each guild sat in their guilds designated seats, signified by the banners bearing their guild's mark on it. They sat in a half circle, with the grand guild master at the head of the circle, while Grimshade sat on his right, followed by The Protectors and The Wondering Coins sat to his left. They sat in silence has the guild leaders of Divinus Magia walked up to the table.
Grand Guild Master Randolph beckoned them forward and greeted them with a smile. "Hello, Mr. Ritchie and Brandon Diabolus. Welcome to The Royal Guild Council meeting. Right now, we are in session to register your guild has a guild of Atlantide. In order to start the process, we first need to ask you a few questions. First, do you or any of your guild members have any outstanding warrants or criminal records? If so, what are they?"
Ritchie then explained their circumstances that led them to live with The Wondering Coins and told them that was all they had in regard to that information. Randolph nodded and continued with the questions. "How many guild members do you have currently?"
"So far, it's just us, our grandmother and one other person named David Alpine who is currently rankless has he is not old enough to be on quest yet, but me and Brandon will be the only two taking quest for the time being. We're hoping to negotiate a program with the local prisons that would allow those who are being required to serve in a guild to be sent to us when possible." Ritchie explained with a nod.
"I see so then will you be excepting those who are required to perform mandatory service?" Randolph asked with a smile. Brandon nodded and Randolph wrote something down on a sheet of paper. "Alright then, next question, do you have a name for your guild at this time, if so, is it permanent or a place holder?"
"Yes, our guild is called Divinus Magia, it means divine sorcery. We chose it because of our history." Ritchie explained with a smile has Brandon nodded in agreement." Randolph nodded writing the name down.
"Do you have a guild mark ready for your guild yet? If so, is it a place holder or permanent?" Ritchie and Brandon nodded and showed their guild mark. Randolph looked it over and nodded has it different from the rest of the currently active guilds.
"Alright then, the mark looks good, so we should be okay to use this one. Anyways, do you have a guild hall at the moment? If not do you have any plans to acquire one?" Randolph asked with a smile. Ritchie and Brandon nodded with a smile. They told them where it was, and Randolph wrote it down.
"Alright then, will your guild be specializing in any type of quest? If so, then what type will that be?" Randolph asked with a smile. Ritchie smiled and replied that they would specialize in dark guild busting. Dark guild busting was, has the name implied a type of quest that involved taking care of a Dark Guild that was causing trouble.
"Alright then, who will be first and second in command for this guild?" Randolph asked the twins with interest. Ritche and Brandon looked at one another and smiled.
"We will both be first in command for this guild." Ritche and Brandon said in perfect unison. All the guild leaders except for Reaper, Devin and Michael looked at each other in surprise. They talked briefly about the situation.
"Well, there's technically no laws saying that there can't be two guild leaders in a guild, just that their has to be two people in charge." Bri said uncertainly. Reaper nodded with a soft smile at this.
"True, and I happened to notice while they were under my command that they tend to perform their task better when working together has equals. I think that having both be leaders of the guild will benefit it greatly." Reaper smiled happily.
"Agreed, guilds do need to work together after all. Having them both be first in command wouldn't be a bad way to remind the guild of that." Michael smiled in agreement with the guild leaders of The Protectors and The Wondering Coins.
"Very well then, let us continue on with the next questions. Will you be running any side businesses with this guild? If so, then what are they?" Randolph asked with a smile.
"We're planning to make a garden and grow fruits, vegetables medicinal herbs. We will keep half of them for ourselves and the guild and the rest of them will be sold to the public in the capital. This way we can save some of our money for the guild." Brandon smiled at the idea.
"Excellent, the citizens of Oceanus will be happy with this seeing has home grown food has grown in popularity these last few months." Randolph smiled at the new guild leaders has he wrote down that information. After that he looked up from his paper work and smiled. "Finally, the last question, do you have any sponsors? If so, who are they, what have they supplied you with if anything and how much money did, they give you including the cost of the equipment?"
"Mason's Magic Training Company supplied us with training equipment but that's all we really have aside from Granma P working with us has a magic consoler but she's a guild member, so we weren't sure if that counted has a sponsorship or not." Ritchie smiled honestly.
"I see that second one doesn't technically count, has they are like you said a guild member. But it's good to see that you have a sponsor. How many jewels are these training equipment worth?" Randolph asked with a nod.
"535,000 jewels, enchantments included to ensure that they can sustain damage and be used for a long time. The enchantments costed 140,000 per piece of equipment. So that being considered the total value of the sponsorship is 4,175,000 jewels. We also got a sponsorship from Florence and Tynedale Dark Magic Cleansing Company where they gave us an island that they finished cleansing of dark magic that went for 2,175,345 jewels after dark magic cleansing. In total we have 6,350,345 in sponsorship." Ritchie explained with a nod.
"I see, that's a very good start to a guild. Now, how much do you have in your guild's funds at the moment?" Randolph questioned with a smile. It had been a while since the last time a guild came this prepared for their registry meeting.
"Currently we have 12,487 jewels in our name. We haven't gotten any quest yet and most of our funds were used to hire a construction company to build our guildhall and our garden hasn't grown enough food for us to sell at this moment in time." Brandon sighed with a frown.
Randolph wrote that down and smiled. "Alright then, with that we have everything you need to register has a guild. Do any of the royal council members have any objections to the formation of Divinus Magia?" When none of the members voted no the Grand Guild Master smiled and nodded. "Very well then, I here by name Divinus Magia an official guild of Atlantide. Do any of the royal guilds wish to sponsor them?"
All three smiled and raised their hands. The Grand Guild Master smiled happily at the sight of this. It was rare for all three guilds to sponsor a newly made guild. "Alright then Grimshade, seeing has you have seniority at the moment, what is your sponsorship offer for Divinus Magia?"
Michael nodded and smiled. "Grimshade will be offering Divinus Magia 90,700,000 Jewels in funding." Ritche and Brandon smiled hearing this has it would take care of their money problem for a while. The Wondering Coins were up next.
"The Wondering Coins will be offering a quarter of it's quest reserves to allow Divinus Magia to gain publicity." Reaper smiled at his former students. Finally, Bri's turn came around. With a smile she stated her offering. Needless to say, it was one that would allow Ritche and Brandon to start their guild on the path to meeting it's goals. "The Protectors will be sponsoring Divinus Magia by providing them members with a criminal history from our prison."
Needless to say, overall the meeting had gone better than expected for the Diabolus twins. Not only did their funds get a significant boost, but they also got their first quests. Needless to say, life had just gotten easier for the twins.
With the sponsorship offers accepted and all the necessary information gathered, Randolph smiled satisfied with how it had turned out. Looking at the two he smiled and handed them a pile of paperwork that they would need to fill out.
"Alright, now that we have that information, we just need to have you guys fill out these forms. They're mainly information on your guild members and your guild's side business. Please have turned in within one week's time." Ritche and Brandon stayed around for a while to talk to Bri about her sponsorship program and then left to return to their guild hall.
When they got their David and Miss P was waiting for them on the island doc. The island was a forests with the only buildings on the island being the Divinus Magia guild hall and a small shed for gardening supplies. This provided a fare amount of protection for the guild and it's small garden. It wasn't too big probably only had about three or four plants growing at that time but enough to sustain the guild for a few days with food in terms of vegetables.
"Hey bosses, how did the meeting go?" Asked David with a smile. He was a young man of sixteen years of age. He had black hair and blue eyes and wore a white unbuttoned shirt with black pants.
"It went well David. Did you complete your homework form school yesterday? Speaking of which do you have detention at the school today?" Ritchie asked his friend and currently only guildmember with a frown.
David nodded with a frown. "Yeah, I did don't worry about it." He laughed nervously. Ritche and Brandon looked at each other and frowned.
You see David, being only sixteen was technically only allowed to join a guild has a means to work at their side business and didn't really have any family. Growing up he had his mother who was a kind woman by the name of Amelia Alpine who died under recently declared suspicious circumstances. His father didn't care about him and neither did his step mother and only one of his step brothers cared and he died under suspicious circumstances similar to his mother. When Ritche and Brandon learned of this after he tried to steal some money for food from them, they got custody of him has a little brother and allowed him to live with him on their island.
With that being said that meant that Ritche and Brandon were in charge of looking after him and making sure that he finished his compulsory education so that he could join the guild once he graduated. By law one had to have a high school diploma or GED at the lowest and have completed or in the process of completing magic consoling for their magic to join a guild.
"Really, then if we were to call your homeroom teacher now and ask, they'd say that you were there and served your time there." Ritchie asked with a frown of his own.
"Yeah, I have a slip to prove it here." He smiled handing Ritchie a piece of paper with the Everston academy emblem on it. It was a piece of paper that notified a parent or legal guardian that if a child had detention that they had served it.
"Good, now we need to talk about the meeting. Royal Guild Leader Brianne Moondust of the Protectors has agreed to sponsor us by providing us guild members. She's already sending us one tomorrow. His name is Mario Divil he's going to be a part of the guild when he turns eighteen because he was sentenced to mandatory guild service. Until then he will be attending Everston academy with you. Because of this you will be responsible for showing him around the school for the time being understood?"
"Yeah, you got it boss. Wait, how did he end up with a criminal record?" David asked with a frown.
"You remember that dark guild that me and Brandon took down a week ago that we're trying to discredit Reaper? He was a member of that guild but because he is a minor, he got a more lenient sentence then what could have gotten. So, he'll be serving his sentence with us until they complete it. So, I want you to be at the least civil with him okay." Ritchie explained with a smile.
"Okay but how in the world did he end up with a dark guild? You know that everyone who joins a dark guild has a story though it's mostly for power." David asked with a frown. He was familiar with the way that dark guilds worked. Afterall his dad wanted him to join one. The only reason he didn't was because his mother made him avoid it.
"Well from what Bri told us it started when he was young, I forget how old though. You see David he was a member of the noble house of Divil. When that dark guild attacked them, he got separated from them and assumed dead. He apparently in reality adopted by a dragon and when they left one day they ended up being taken in by The Reaper's Hand." Brandon nodded with a frown.
The rest of the day was spent preparing for the new guild member's arrival in the coming days. Thankfully it all came along quite well and by the time a week pasted Mario Devil was set to join Divinus Magia when he turned eighteen.
That next Saturday morning a ship with the guild mark of The Protectors could be seen on the way to Divinus Magia island has it was called on the Atlantide maps nowadays. There were two people on this bout. These to people were Bri and her younger cousin Mario.
"Okay Mario, we're almost to Divinus Magia island. I know that you don't like this, but you'll be safer with them then with me. With the Reaper's Hand still out their and after you it's safer for you to stay with them. I promise that I'll come and visit you every time I get a chase, okay?" Bri smiled at her cousin.
Mario was a young sixteen year old youth with black hair and brown eyes. He wore a green shirt with a blue coat and beige colored slacks and dark brown boots. He looked up at his cousin and nodded in understanding. Bri sighed, ever since she found out about him being in a dark guild and saw him for the first time in years, he was a lot quieter than what he had been has a child.
With that in mind Bri had called the Diabolus twins about Mario's condition. She hoped that by staying with them Mario could recover in a safe and quite place without the hustle and bustle of city life in the background. She also hoped that staying on an island would give Mario an ideal training ground for him.
Soon enough they had arrived at Divinus Magia island. Bri led Mario off the bout and too the guild hall at the center of the island. It was much like that of a castle made of stone. The Divinus Magia guild mark stood tall on a glass stained window.
Entering the guild hall and making their way to the office, Bri and Mario found the twins there waiting for them. Ritche and Brandon seeing their friend entering the guild office. "Hello Bri, I assume that that's your cousin behind you, yes?" Brandon smiled at the necromancer.
"Yes, this is my cousin Mario. You two remember what I told you about him what I told you about him yes?" Bri asked with a frown. She had told them about her cousin on the day that she had offered them this sponsorship to ensure that they'd be ready for him.
"Yeah, we do, don't worry we'll take good care of him. Don't worry, we made sure that he has his own room here too. It has a lock that he can use from the inside and everything." Ritchie smiled softly.
"That's good, I wish I could keep Mario with us, but he wouldn't be happy at my guild. The fact that Andrew keeps making fun of him for being fooled by that dark guild when he was only about 9 when they found them and that I felt that he'd be safer here. I was also hoping that he'd find someone who he could relate to while he was here. Make sure to call me once a week to keep me in the loop, okay?" Bri smiled sadly. After talking for a but longer Bri went home and left the guild to return to hers.
Ritche and Brandon then spent the rest of the day showing Mario around the island and guildhall. Thankfully things went well and Divinus Magia continued to grow over the next years.
