Chapter Five: Enter the Cousin of the Diabolus Brothers
It has been four years since Ritche and Brandon had come to Atlantide. In that time Divinus Magia has grown tremendously. Not only were they getting their own quest but they were gaining support to join The Royal Guild Council but they had gained a few new members since the day the guild had opened.
They already had a few members by the time the grand magic games were held thank to Bri giving them some prisoners from her prison that fit the bill that they were looking for has part of her sponsorship to them. This allowed them to participate in the games which was Ritche and Brandon's second time participating having participated in them the year prior during their guild service to The Wondering Coins. They ended giving a wonderful performance which ended with them in third place in the games.
Their second sponsorship member was named Bjorn Ormstunge but they preferred to call him Zaro for short. He had hardening magic has his major magic and probably had the most unique story of the guild next to the twins. That being having been concealed in ice for three thousand years after his people who he ruled over threw him. He had tan skin and wore a dark brown vest with his guild mark on his chest and leather pants and boots.
Their third guild member was a girl named Rosea Landcaster, a nature devil slayer. She was a friendly girl with a slightly tan skin tone, medium length brown hair which was down and had two high ponytails tied with light blue ribbons and her eyes were sky blue. Her outfit consisted of a sage green off shoulder dress with blue trim that matched the color of the ribbons. The sleeves were made of a blue sheer fabric, covered in a green fabric for the most part except for the wrist where the green opened up like a curtain to reveal the sheer blue fabric and a layer of white sheer fabric covered the side of her shoulders. She wore white stockings that reached up pass her knees and were secured by blue ribbons not unlike the ones in her hair. She also wore boots that were a slightly duller brown then her hair.
Mario and David had also join the guild has official members has they had graduated from Everston just a few months ago. Mario had decided to stay with them because of the family like bond the guild had and the feeling of safety it gave him. He still visited Bri on occasion and kept in contact with her when he could.
Because of their performance at the games and on quest, the people were quickly rallying for them to become part of the royal guilds. Something which Brandon and Ritche were hopeful for but wanted to get a few more members first to offset the increase in quest that they'd get from the status.
However little did Ritche and Brandon know, there newest guildmember wouldn't be a stranger, but an family member from their home. One that had changed their lives for the better and it would all start with a quest.
It was a regular Wednesday in the guild hall. Ritche and Brandon were in their shared office doing paperwork, David was training, Mario was doing his chores in the garden since it was his turn to do so, Zaro was out on a quest and Rosea was picking out a quest from the A rank board. There were currently five quest on the board. Though there were more by sun down probably sun high at the earliest.
Picking out a quest she noted that she didn't needed approval from the guild leaders to take the quest. The quest wanted her to investigate a potential dark guild sighting outside a village. The reason why it was A rank was because the dark guild that the civilians believed they saw was a dangerous one that was well known.
Leaving a note saying that she took the quest she went to the town the quest had directed her too. A small town on the outskirts of the capital. It was only two hours until she arrived at the town via carriage service.
Walking through the town she found the place where the quest giver had told her to meet them. It was a male in his late forties at the latest like the woman was next to him who the young mage assumed was his wife. She approached the couple with a soft smile. "Hello you two, my name is Rosea Landcaster and I'm from Divinus Magia a guild stationed in the capital. Are one of you the one who sent this quest?" The man had light blue hair that faded to black and a matching blue beard with brown eyes. He wore raged clothing just like his wife who was a blond with blue eyes.
The man looked at the quest and nodded. "Yes that would be us. Thank you for coming here. Lately the people in the town have been reporting sightings of a dark guild our daughter who is 20 years old has been investigating since she's been looking to join a guild to help subport us since we barely have enough money to care for four people and ended up being blacked mailed to stay after they found out… but that's not what's relevant to the quest. What relevant is that this dark guild member is part of a well-known dark guild. No one knows why that dark guild member was sent here but they attacked the homeless shelter that me and my wife lived in… they took our niece who we adopted and our daughter. We're really worried about them…"
"What we're saying is that we need you to find this guildmember and find out what they want to do with our niece and daughter. When you do please bring them back to us. We don't have much and we had to take out a lone to pay off the cost of this quest." The man said with a sad smile.
"Don't worry sir, I promise I will do my best to find them and bring them back safely. Now, your names weren't on the quest papers so I will need that information before I leave." Rosea smiled reassuringly.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, we must have forgot to do that when we filed it because we were in a rush to do so. My name is Marcelina Diabolus and this is my husband Drake Diabolus." The wife now named Marcelina smiled. She had bright blond hair and blue eyes. Her outfit consisted of a dull blue dress with dull turquoise accents.
Rosea paused for a moment when she heard the last names. "Excuse me ma'am did you just say your last name was Diabolus?" The 20-year-old girl asked with a frown. Diabolus wasn't a common last name in Atlantide or Terrarium has a whole. However their were a certain pair of twins that had it.
"Why yes, we did. Is something the matter?" Drake asked with a frown. Marcelina frowned as well worried that they had gotten in trouble.
"Oh no, it's just that my guild leaders just happen to have the same last name. You wouldn't happen to know a pair of twins by the name of Ritche and Brandon Diabolus would you?" Rosea asked with wonder.
"Why yes we do, there are nephews. We haven't heard form them in years, the last time we saw them we were under attack and they ran and we couldn't find them afterwards." The woman gasped in surprise. Rosea then pulls out a picture of her and the guild that was taken on the day she joined.
"Just to be sure this is them right?" She asked has she pulled up the picture and showed them the picture. The quest givers nodded and smiled at the picture.
"Yes that's them, they look well. I hope that we can visit them soon." Smiled Marcelina at the sight of the photo with her husband. They then talked for a bit about how this would affect the proceedings of the quest.
Meanwhile on the docks of Divinus Magia island a girl could be seen getting off the supply boat that she was on. "Alright, the guild I'm looking for should be at the center of this island. I hope that they can help me. Otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do…"
This girl was a youth of 20 years of age. She had blond and blue hair and blue eyes partially tied into two ponytails. Her dress was a light blue with a small cold shoulder cut out with blue sleeves that opened up to sheer fabric that overed a pair of fish net gloves. She also had a yellow star necklace and a blue moon and matching yellow star pin. Her look was completed with blue leggings and yellow and blue shoes. She also had beige colored wings that were like that of an angles.
She made her way into the guild hall encountering a guildmember along the way that told her how to get to the office. She knocked once on the door before being told to enter, however when she entered the room she saw two people that she never thought that she'd see again.
At first the two hadn't looked up from their paperwork, almost finished with the paperwork in front of them they looked up after putting their signature on the forms. They looked up to see the girl who had entered their office. However, like the girl they we're not expecting who it was.
"C-cousin Natalia? Is that really you?" Brandon asked timidly, unsure if the girl he was seeing was really who he thought she was. The girl took a few timid steps forward towards the guild leaders.
"Cousins Ritche and Brandon… I can't say that I expected to see you two here has the guild leaders…" The girl now known has Natalia smiled at the sight of these familiar faces. She didn't think she'd be seeing them again one day before her time came.
"Trust me we feel the same. How is it that you're here? Me and Brother Ritchie ended in this world after we entered a portal one day when we managed to escape from or birth parents." Brandon smiled inquisitively. Ritchie nodded confirming the story that his brother gave.
"I had a similar experience just a few months ago when your birth parents were attacking us again. Mother and father and cousin Amira were with me." She sighed at the thought of the attack. She had been attacked a handful of times in her life now and was only eighteen.
The brothers looked towards one another for a moment before asking. "Who's Amira?" Amira was only four years old and had been born after Ritche and Brandon entered the portal. So it made since that they wouldn't know of her.
"She's your little sister… She was born a month after you went missing." Natalia explained with a frown. It didn't surprise the young woman that the brothers didn't know of their mother's pregnancy. Afterall they were, according to resistance intel they we're kept in the dungeons for the first few months until their escape.
"A little sister? Come to think of it Soren was talking about how we needed to start setting an example before we managed to get out…" Ritchie frowned in thought. He remembered his "father" said that they wouldn't be let out until they could prove that they could set a good example. That meaning "Follow our orders even if your brother doesn't want to marry the woman we chose for him and she is abusing him" and "We are your parents so you must act the way we tell you too because it will look bad on us if you act otherwise."
"I see, how are Mother Marcelina and Father Drake doing?" Brandon asked his cousin in curiosity. Natalia frowned but answered the question in a somewhat calm tone.
"There… alright from what I heard. But that's kind of the reason that I'm here. You see, I kinda need a job and a way to get from to seek refuge from a dark guild. You see a while back when me and my parents and our cousin entered into this world and settled into the town of Ledera in Atlantide. I joined another guild before I learned that they were a dark guild and tried to run. They caught me and forced something into my chest. It looked like some sort of crystal and my spiritual sense went crazy around it.
Ever since I've been hearing a strange voice in my head and the voice of a demon named Aquaia and blacking out every so often only to wake up to destruction. She says that I'm what's called a water devil slayer. I came here because I heard that you two are devil slayers too and was hoping that by finding someone that had the same or a similar kind of magic to me I could learn to control it. I haven't been able to check on mother and father in quite some time. The dark guild was called Dark Strom" Natalia explained with a frown.
Ritche and Brandon looked at each other with a frown. Dark Storm was a dark guild suspected to be involved with The Reaper's Hand, Mario's old dark guild somehow. Some believed that they were allied with each other. But more believed that The Reaper's hand was actually a cover for Dark Storm since both guilds had an illusionist mage that looked very similar to one another both of them turned out to be the same person one of them, the one in The Reaper's Hand turned out to be the false identity.
It also wasn't unreasonable for one to believe them to be the same guild. For one their guild marks were highly similar and guilds that were allied tended to have similar guild marks to symbolize the alliance between the two guilds. Furthermore the guild master of the Reaper's Hand had many unauthorized false identities and no one knew their real name. However the description that Mario had given the two of them sounded very similar to the leader of Dark Storm. Further more it was well known that many members of The Reaper's Hand went under unauthorized false identities. Mario himself had went by Jason Malone.
Speaking of their resident Cavern Dragon Slayer, Mario had mentioned seeing known members of Dark Strom when they were a member of The Reaper's Hand in their guild hall and that Reaper's Hand was the guild that attacked the noble house of Divil . That coupled with the fact that they had been connected to many crimes and had a similar list of crimes against them. With that in mind it wasn't unlikely that they were the same guild. They just needed more evidence to prove it.
But that wasn't what concerned the guild leaders. What did concern them was the fact that they got a quest from the town of Ledera a few days ago involving this very guild. Ritche and Brandon remembered that they hadn't found the names of the people who sent the quest in question they couldn't help but wonder if it was their aunt and uncle who sent the quest. It did mention that they were missing their daughter and niece and that the daughter had been trying to find out more about a dark guild near the town. Further more was the fact that Dark Strom and The Reaper's Hand were found to have guild halls around that town but their location wasn't exactly known, just that they were nearby.
"Brother has someone taken that quest yet? It was supposed to be moved to the S board." Brandon asked in curiosity. Ritchie thought for a moment. He then left to check the board and came running back into the office.
"Brandon, Rosea took the quest! She's left about two hours ago according to Mario!" Ritchie called over. Brandon paled and got out the emergency guild communicator. A signal went out to all guild members baring Rosea who immediately assembled into the main room of the guild hall. Ritchie quickly explained what happened and they went to the mainland and made their way to the town of Ledera. There they found Rosea on the outskirts of the town fighting a few members of the dark guild she was sent to investigate.
The battle looked to be going in Rosea's favor despite the odds being three against one. One of them was already taken down and the other two seemed like they were close to being taken out. "I Call upon the demon Natura. Nature's Calling of the Vines!"
Vines came rushing out quickly binding the wizards she was facing. But she quickly knocked them out with a swift hit to the back of the head, not enough to kill, but knock them out long enough to bring them to the local jail.
Ritche and Brandon walked over to their now almost exhausted guild member. They went over and helped her up and walked back over to the guild and their cousin. "You did well Rosea. That quest was supposed to be an S rank but we didn't get the chance to move it to the S rank board before you took it." Brandon smiled at the young A rank possibly S rank in the coming months if she passed the S class trials.
"Thanks Brandon, the guys who gave me that quest were right when they said that these guys were no push overs. Well… they didn't use those exact words but that's what they were trying to say so close enough. There were more of them but they ran when they heard you guys coming. I think that they had a different guild mark." Rosea smiled at her guild leaders.
"That's fine Rosea, we need to know something though. When you met with the quest giver did they give you his name? If so what was it?" Ritchie questioned the guildmember with a hopeful frown. Rosea straightened up her poster and turned to Ritchie.
"Their names are Marcelina and Drake Diabolus. When I asked about their last name and if they are related to you they said that they were your Aunt and Uncle. I showed them a picture of you two and they said they recognized you." She replied with a smile. The guild then went to the village to find the quest givers.
Needless to say, Brandon and Ritche were happily reunited with their aunt and uncle. They offered their family a place on their island and they agreed. Allowing them to finally live peacefully they weren't able to find Amira but they hoped by tracking down the actual guild hall of Dark Storm they would find her.
