Valentina snacked on a bag of popcorn as her brother absentmindedly ran his mouth about the decorations being put up for the night's fiesta. "You paint a stupid picture." She laughed as he described the neon colours. "Oh cállate you know you love it." Camillo rolled his eyes. "Mirabel!" They heard their Abuela yell suddenly. "That's never good." Camillo popped a piece of the corn in his mouth.
"Thats true. Should we go down there?"
"Let's not-" Camillo got cut off as a little girl screamed, "She was about to tell us about her super awesome gift!" Camillo snorted and Valentina hit him in the back of the head. "Idiots" She cursed under her breath as Dolores said, "Oh Mirabel didn't get one." before squeaking and walking away with the table cloth. "Hey Valentina, I need you to restart all the lights!" James yelled from underneath the staircase.
"On it." As Casita helped her down the stairs case, Valentina and Camillo waved goodbye.
Valentina stood in the middle of the home as her hands lit ablaze. She waved to where she assumed the children would be along with her cousin. "You didn't get a gift?" A little girl asked as Valentina danced around the home lighting candles aflame. "Gift or no gift I am just as special as the rest of my family." Mirabel smiled.
Valentina snorted but said nothing as she doused the flames on her hands and waved goodbye to her cousin's friends as casita helped her back to Camillo. "Who wants more pink!" Isabel yelled from right next to the female accidentally lighting Valentina's own hair on fire and Camillo patted down the flames.
"Maybe your gift is being in denial."
Camillo leaned against the staircase railing next to his sister as their Abuela said "Camillo we need another Jośe, Valentina, Julieta needs her oven reheated up." Abuela continued walking as Camillo yelled "Jośe!" and Valentina chimed "You do realize your powers don't need you to say the person's name every time, idiota." Camillo rolled his eyes as he hung up the sign and Valentina went down the stairs walking to the kitchen as Casita guided her.
As Valentina slowly walked into the main room, three people were shoved into her
"Sorry, V!
"My bad Val!"
"I'm sorry Valentina!"
People stepped on her toes and she was shoved.
"Hey sorry, Valentina!"
But it was a little late. Like her mother, Valentina started panicking as the tornado picked up and Pepa worried "My baby's night needs to be perfect" small signs of fire started showing in the tornado as Valentina whispered, "Where's the kitchen, where's Cami." the flames started taking shape as they raged in the tornado which was quickly darkening the bright room.
"And it's not perfect, and people are coming, and nothings ready-"
"Why are there so many people? Cami didn't say there were this many people, why did he lie, Cami never lies-"
"You are burning the flowers Mi querido." Her father appeared behind the young female putting a slight hand on her shoulder knowing how an unknown touch could set off the dam in his baby girl. "Your tornado-ing the flowers!" He yelled to his wife.
"Did someone say flowers?" The fire and the storm quickly stopped at the calming voice of Isabela. "Our angel, our angel!" Felix smiled at his niece as he watched his daughter and wife worriedly guiding them both near the staircase where Isabela landed. "Please don't clap." Isabela cooed as she handed her aunt the roses and her cousin the calming scent of chamomile.
Eventually, with some help from her twin brother who was done with his job, the twins made their way to the kitchen. "I just asked for Val?" Julieta asks with a raised eyebrow as she washes her hands. "We're a package deal," Camillo states throwing a piece of popcorn in the air and catching it in his mouth. Julieta shrugged used to the twin's behavior as Valentina gets on her knees with her hands aflame.
