(Tatsuka's POV)
It was morning.
The TV was on in the living room.
I was in the kitchen in the middle of making breakfast for Asia and I when I heard footsteps coming towards here.
I looked behind me just in time to see the former nun.
"Morning." I greeted her before turning back at the frying pan.
"Ah... good morning." The blonde girl greets back.
"Go wait at the dining table. I will be with you in a moment." I tells her.
"Do... do you need any help...?" The girl asked.
I regards her with a shook of my head.
"No, the cooking is already underway." I curtly told her.
"Oh..." I heard Asia mutter softly.
A few seconds later, I heard her walk away.
I then direct my full attention on the food.
A couple minutes later, I've finished making breakfast and I walked towards the dining room with two trays on hand.
I put them on the table and placed each food one by one before sitting down.
I was about to eat my fill but stopped when I heard Asia speaks in Italian.
"Bless us, O God. Bless our food and our drink..."
I stared at her.
I can't understand what she's saying, but I'm a 100% sure that, from the way she closed her eyes and hands clasped together, she's praying.
Honestly, I couldn't care less for religion, but out of respect for the devout Christian girl, I waited till the end.
Once she's finished, she and I dug into our food.
I heard the blonde exclaim.
"This is so delicious!" She said excitedly.
"Glad you like it." I replied shortly, but gratefully.
We ate quietly for a few seconds with the noises from the TV in the living room serving as our background music.
I glanced up at her and spoke.
"You have many questions for me, am I right?" I asked the ex-nun.
"Huh?" Asia blinked.
Knowing that she heard me loud and clear, I stayed silent and stared at her.
"Y-Yes..." The girl nodded nervously.
"Ask them now, then, while I still have time till I go to school." I told her swiftly.
"A-Alright..." Asia took a deep breath.
"How do you know about me...?" The girl asked her first question.
Now that's a difficult thing for me to answer. I know Asia because she's a fictional character from my World, so how do you explain to someone that they are that without giving them a spontaneous life crisis?
It's simple.
"I know my sources." I answered shortly without lying, unbeknownst to her. "Next."
I could imagine what she's feeling right there after that. If I were her, I would be a tad just disappointed.
Asia took a deep breath again.
"How do you know of the Supernaturals?"
A much easier question this time.
"I'm a mage, Miss Argento." I answered. "I admit, I'm not a very good one, but still a mage."
(Asia's POV)
I was surprised at that answer.
'So Mr. Tatsuka is a wizard.' I thought in understanding.
"...Next." He tells me again.
"Do we have anyone else living here?" I asked him my third question.
"No. It's just you and I here." He answered.
That was unexpected.
"W-What...?" I looked at the mage, baffled.
He raised an eyebrow.
"B-But... didn't you say you still go to school?" I questioned him with a befuddled look.
Is that normal here in Japan? Are students my age have already been allowed to live by themselves...?
"What about your family...?" I inquired.
"...Dead." Mr. Tatsuka answered.
I flinches at that.
"I have lived here all by myself for about a year now. Next."
"...I... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." I apologized remorsefully.
Mr. Tatsuka shook his head.
"No, it's fine. Continue." He tells me as he forgives me.
I slowly nodded, still having a regretful look on my face.
"Mr. Tatsuka, you said I could stay here for free as long as I treated your injuries, right?" I asked.
Mr. Tatsuka furrowed his brows at that.
"...Yes." He nodded with a confused look. "Is there something wrong?"
"N-No...!" I vehemently denies as I quickly shook my head.
"It's... it's just too much..." I fidgeted.
"Too much?" Mr. Tatsuka repeated confusedly.
I winced. That made me sound ungrateful.
"What do you mean, Miss Argento?" He queried.
"It's... my living cost." I nervously corrected myself.
His confusion didn't go away, in fact, he looks even more puzzled now.
I took a deep breath and calm down.
"What I'm trying to say, is that I couldn't afford this pay-by-healing method because it's likely rare that you will be receiving any injuries at all." I further explained.
Much to my relief, Mr. Tatsuka seems to understand what I'm getting at, judging by the look on his face.
"Ah, I see." He nodded. "That could indeed be a problem for you. I apologize for not thinking things through."
"N-No. It's okay..." I smiled.
"If that's what you want, then you'll be sharing my workload in this house. That means cleaning, doing the laundry, cooking, gardening, and buying groceries. Is that okay with you?" He asked.
"Yes!" I spoke in my native tongue by accident in my excitement.
"I-I mean, yes!" I blushed in embarrassment.
"Ah, wait. You can't speak Japanese, right?" He asked.
"O-Oh..." I widened my eyes as I immediately understood what he meant.
"Yes..." I slumped my shoulders.
"Alright, then. Scratch that last one out for now, I will teach you on how to speak and write it first." He told me.
I perked up.
"Really?!" I questioned excitedly.
"Later." He promised.
With a cheery mood, I and Mr. Tatsuka continue eating our breakfast for the next few minutes.
After a while, I heard Mr. Tatsuka speaks again.
"By the way, Miss Argento. About the Devil you'd saved..." He starts.
I paused.
"...Yes...?" I looked at him with a curious face.
"Do you remembered what he looked like?" He asked me.
I went silent as I think back of that night.
"I... I think so...?" I answered the mage with uncertainty.
"If you can at least remember his face, then that's good enough. Make sure to inform me if you see him again, understand? Trust me, that guy is bad news." He told me.
I blinked.
"But... why...?" I questioned.
"For your sake, Miss Argento. It's better that you don't know." Mr. Tatsuka replied with a grim look. "But I can tell you this..."
I saw Mr. Tatsuka narrow his eyes.
"He's a danger to you." He said.
"D-Danger...?!" I gasped out.
"Yes." He nodded seriously. "Now, I won't specify what danger that is... but I can assure you. You definitely do not want to meet him again."
I gulped at how serious the mage sounded.
Mr. Tatsuka then relaxes.
"By the way, have you taken a shower yet?" He asked me.
Embarassedly, I shook my head.
"Right. I only showed you your bedroom." I heard Mr. Tatsuka mutters.
He opened his mouth again.
"After breakfast, I will give you a tour around the house." He told me.
I nodded my head.
(Issei's POV)
It was night.
I had just eaten dinner with my parents.
I am now in my room, on my bed, staring at the ceiling.
I looked at the clock.
18:45 PM.
I stared at it.
'Man, yesterday was crazy. Is that how everyone in the Supernatural world fights?' I thought to myself.
Yesterday, I informed Buchou about that nun. I feel bad, though. She seemed like a nice girl, but appearance can be deceiving. She's involved with 'Yuuma', after all. The Fallen Angel who tries to kill me because of the Sacred Gear inside my left hand.
As expected, I got scolded, and I feel like I deserved that. After all, she did tell me that the church are where the Fallen Angels at, and I still tried to go there just to escort a cute girl who is a nun, which is one of Devils' natural enemy.
Still, it seems like escorting the girl, Asia, if I remembered, was a bad call on my part.
You see, Buchou told me that she and the others minus me were going to drive the Fallen Angels out of Kuoh, whether through force, or by negotiation. But she said it's most likely going to be the former. I'm hoping for otherwise.
However, she was interrupted by Akeno-senpai who informed her that a Stray Devil named Viser have escaped into Kuoh town.
When I asked what a Stray Devil was, Buchou explains that basically, Stray Devils are reincarnated Devils like me and the others who'd gone rogue by abandoning or killing their King. When they turned Stray, the Evil Piece (the thing that turns people into Devils) inside of them goes out of control as a safety switch, mutating their bodies into this B.O.W-like beings from Resident Evil so that they can be identified and targeted by everyone in the supernatural world.
Yikes. And that thing are inside of me and the others...
Anyways, after that disturbing explanation, Buchou cancelled her preparations for the church, and instead, directed it towards Viser. She also tells me to come with them, so that she could show me how my other clubmates fight.
And boy, was it insane.
I thought the ninja girl's abilities was impressive, but Kiba, Koneko-chan, Akeno-senpai, and Buchou shows me that there are more out there.
Kiba has this Sacred Gear called Sword Birth, which has the ability to create any sword he wants. When I mean any sword, I mean any sword. SO OP! Damn handsome! When I questioned him of this ability, he reveals that, while he indeed can create any blade he imagines, it cannot be too powerful, or else, the energy required to make it would kill him before he could even create it. And also, the sword he makes aren't as durable as an actual sword. As the bearer of the Knight piece, Kiba's speed and jumping ability are immensely increased. While not quite on par as the ninja girl, he can certainly hold his own.
Koneko-chan is a variant of the Nekomata species called, Nekoshou. (That explained the weird things she says) That means she has enhanced reflexes, hearing, and smell. She is also an adept spellcaster. As the bearer of the Rook piece, her strength and endurance have been greatly increased.
Akeno-senpai doesn't really have any special abilities, but it seems like her genius didn't just go to her school life. As the bearer of the Queen piece, she has the agility of a Knight, strength and endurance of a Rook, and the magic of a Bishop, and Senpai used all of these traits spectacularly. When it's her turn to fight Viser, her entire demeanor changed into that of a sadist, and she summoned a large, yellow-colored lightning to fry Viser into a crisp. I'm not gonna lie, I was completely scared by this act. Who knew, huh? That one of the Great Onee-sama of Kuoh Academy is actually an S. And not just an S, but apparently the Ultimate S! According to Buchou.
Finally, Buchou comes forward and simply shot out this black mass of energy she calls the Power of Destruction from which she inherited from her Mother's side of the family that enveloped Viser consumed the monstrous Stray Devil until there was nothing left of her.
When I questioned Buchou about my trait, she told me that I was like a Queen, (much to my delight) except that I had to go through certain conditions to change. What those conditions are, she said she will tell me at a later time.
I then asked if she has a Bishop, and was confirmed by a yes. She indeed, has a Bishop. However, she said he has a Sacred Gear that he couldn't control, so she had to seal him until she finds someone that could teach him.
When I heard of him, I was slightly dissapointed that it was not a girl, but wonders what kind of Sacred Gear he possesses if he couldn't even control it at all.
I punched the air with my left arm and a red bracer suddenly appears on it.
I looked at the thing.
Ever since I found out from Buchou that I had this thing, I've been summoning it and wearing it constantly. At first, I had to imagine I'm doing a Kamehameha to call it, but now, all I had to do was clench my hand and it appears for me, and vice versa.
Buchou told me that it's called a Twice Critical. A common Sacred Gear that doubles the strength of the user for a limited time.
Initially, I was disappointed, but after awhile, I'd learned to deal with it and thought It was pretty cool. Both in power and in its design. It's nothing special, but hey, I could've gotten worse.
I heard my phone rings and I picked it up to see that I've got a message from Buchou.
I read it and I widened my eyes.
(Rias' POV)
"Are you all ready?" I asked my peerage behind me with a serious face as we approached the church.
They all nodded with the exception of my Pawn who looked very uncertain.
I stopped.
Everyone else stopped too.
I turned around and looked at him.
"What's the matter, Issei?" I asked the newly reincarnated Devil.
Yuuto, Akeno, and Koneko turns to him and he fidgeted in place.
"Umm... are you sure it's all right to bring me as well?" He nervously inquires.
I tilted my head.
"I mean, didn't yesterday you were going to exclude me from this?" He continued.
"I did, yes." I nodded in confirmation. "Akeno, Koneko, Yuuto, and I should be enough to deal with the Fallen. But I've decided that adding you to our group should be fine. Don't worry, Issei..."
I smiled assuredly at him.
"Just stick close to me. I will make sure that nothing happens to you." I told him.
I saw him blush.
"O-Okay..." He nodded.
We then continue our walk towards the barrier-covered church.
Once we neared the entrance, I raised my right hand towards the door and shot my Power of Destruction at it, enveloping it and disintegrating it.
We walked inside and prepared ourselves for any attacks.
I scanned the interior to find the Fallen who had intruded on my territory without permission.
When I couldn't find one, I stopped and uttered the small cat girl's name.
"Koneko."
A few seconds later, I was answered with...
"They're not here, Buchou."
"Are you serious?" I looked back at my Rook.
She nods.
"Did they already left?" Akeno sounds dissapointed as she wondered to herself.
"No. That couldn't be." I heard Yuuto spoke and I turned to face him.
"We should look around to find any secret entrances. A hatch. Levers. Something. The church always has those installed." He suggested with a frown.
"Wait, they do?" Issei questioned.
I nodded at my Knight.
"Alright. Everyone, search for anything similar to what Yuuto describes. Issei, you're with me." I ordered them.
"Yes!/Yes!/Yes!"
They, with the exception of my new Pawn, all complied and went off to different parts of the church.
Issei followed behind me as I walked forward towards the altar.
I moved around it and noticed something on the floor.
"Hmm?" I blinked as I looked down and saw a wooden hatch.
"Well, would you look at that." I quirked my lip in amusement.
"You found something, Buchou?" Issei asked as he moves closer towards me.
He looked down and saw the hatch too.
"Huh, so Kiba was right." He commented.
He then turns his head to the others and called out to them.
"Oi, guys! Buchou found the hatch Kiba were talking about!" He yelled.
At that cry, everyone ran up to us and gathered around.
I reached and opened the hatch to reveal a stairway that goes down.
"Let's go, guys." I said to my peerage before descending the stairs.
We all walked down for almost a minute.
When we reached the bottom, to our surprise, we saw traces of carnage marring the only corridor that we need to go through.
"W-What the hell...?!" Issei stammered in shock at the sight.
Along the sides, there were several rooms lined up with some of the doors being broken open.
"Smells like sea salt." Koneko told us as she sniffed the air. "And the blood... they belong to humans."
"I could also sense a considerable amount of holy magic here. Must've been Exorcists." Yuuto added.
I frowned.
"So they didn't come by themselves, huh?" I said unhappily.
Judging by the many opened rooms on the corridor, the Fallen Angels had bring a lot of their Exorcists here.
Suddenly, this case of territory breach had just turned into something more serious.
"The question is... who or what attacked them?" My Queen wonders.
"Could it be, the ninja girl...?" Issei suggests.
I shook my head.
"We're not going to know if we just stick around here and guess." I replied. "Let's keep going."
With that, we walked to the end of the corridor and enters a ritual room of some kind.
"They're not here either..." I heard Yuuto murmur.
"The sea salt smell is stronger here." Koneko told us. "And these blood... these were the Fallen's."
"My, my. It looks like someone else had done our job for us. Could it be Sona and her peerage...?" Akeno pondered aloud.
I shook my head as a negative.
"Can't be." I immediately shut down that theory. "If they did this, she would've informed me about it already. No, Issei's suggestion earlier seems much more likely. The ninja girl that he was talking about must've been the one who'd done this."
"If that's so, then we have no more reason to be here." Akeno stated.
She's right.
I nodded.
"Everyone. Let's go back. I will speak to Sona about this. Tomorrow, we will talk about the ninja girl and what should we do with her." I told them.
All three of my peerage agreed with the exception of Issei who had a worried expression on his face.
"Issei, what's wrong?" I asked him concernedly.
"H-Huh?" The brunette boy looks at me in confusion before catching up to my words.
"It's... it's nothing, Buchou..." He smiles awkwardly.
I could easily tell that he's lying, but however, I decided not to press him about it.
"If you say so..." I nodded.
(Tatsuka's POV)
(DING—DONG!)
In the living room, I was in the middle of teaching Asia Japanese when we heard someone rang the bell outside the gate
We both stop at what we're doing and looked at the direction of the sound.
"Wait here." I told her and stood up before walking towards the front door.
'Hmm... I wonder who that is...' I thought and grasped the handle.
I pulled it open and stepped outside.
I looked at the gate and saw a gentle-looking young man with dark green hair, golden eyes, and wearing expensive-looking clothing.
I got a feeling that I know who this is, but I wasn't sure.
I approach and stopped in front of the unknown man.
"Yes? Can I help you with something?" I asked him warily.
The man smiled kindly.
"Hello. Are you Rikka-san? I apologize for bothering you, but I had heard from one of your neighbors that he saw a girl who seems to match the description of my fiancee here." He said.
I kept my expression neutral as an alarm rang loudly inside my head.
I stared at his face.
"I... see..." I said slowly.
"May I ask for your name, then?" I questioned him.
"Of course." The suspicious man nodded while still smiling.
"My name is Diodora Astaroth." The green-haired man introduced himself.
My gloved right hand twitches slightly.
"Diodora... Diodora..." I frowned as if I was thinking.
I shook my head.
"Sorry. But I don't think I've ever heard Argento-san mention that name before." I told him.
I saw the rotten Dildo perked up.
"Argento-san?! So she's really here!" The bastard exclaimed excitedly .
I kept up my acting as I paused and blinked.
"You know her?" I asked in fake surprise.
"Of course." The green-haired Devil nodded his head. "I would never forget my beloved fiancee's name. Though, it's weird that she'd never mentioned me at least once, but nevertheless! With the description I've been given and you saying her name, that is definitely indeed my fiancee, Asia. I'm sure you saw that she is wearing a ring, yes?"
I widened my eyes and nodded.
"Oh, yeah... she did...!" I slowly opened the gate for him.
"Come in." I smiled at the bastard.
"Thank you." The Astaroth heir stepped his foot inside my frontyard and walked past me.
I instantly lose my smile.
I quickly close the gate and activate my Bounded Field.
'By my Command Spell...' I thought.
The first part of my CS appeared above my right hand.
"...Henshin."
The number 366 raced through the forefront of my mind.
(Diodora's POV)
"...Transform." I heard the Human behind me spoke.
(FLASH!)
I quickly turned around when I saw the environment lights up gold and hurriedly jumped back when I saw the blade of a spear tries to bisect me.
(SLASH!)
"Kuh?!" I managed to survive a certain death, but not without injury.
I landed on my knees and puts my arm over my bloody chest.
'What the hell?!' I thought in pain as I gritted my teeth and glared at the light.
When it dies down, I'd expected the Human boy. But however, to my shock...
"L-Lord Azazel?!" I cried out in fear as I stared at the head of one of the three faction.
'What...? What's the Governor General doing in this town?! Don't tell me, he came here because of those damn Fallen?!' I thought with panic.
"Not quite." 'Azazel' calmly replied as he skilfully twirled his spear.
'Wait, what?' I was surprised by his answer.
Looking at him closely, I could indeed see that there are differences between him and the leader of the Fallen Angel. However, they still looked awfully similar to each other, though.
"Then, who the hell are you?!" I demanded the man angrily.
"My name is Huang Feihu, one of the general of Xiqi from the Shang dynasty!" The man proudly introduced himself.
"Shang dynasty...?" I painfully stood up to my feet.
"Don't tell me, you're like that arrogant Human brat, Cao Cao!" I accused.
"The Warlord of Wei?" The man said in surprise.
'He doesn't know? Then, that means he's not part of that guy's group.' I thought and calls my peerage to my location.
Soon after, all 15 of my servants appeared before me.
"Lord Diodora!" My Rooks, Knights and Pawns, formed a defensive formation around me as they faced the hero descendant while my Bishops and Queen tended to my injury.
"Lord Diodora, why is Lord Azazel here?!" My Queen asked in alarm.
"That's not Azazel! That's just a lookalike!" I shouted at her.
"16 against 1, huh?" I heard the man spoke.
"That's fine!" He exclaimed as he took up a defensive stance.
"Come at me with all you got!" He cried out.
Once my Bishops healed my wound, I took a deep breath and glared at the hero.
"You'll regret crossing with me, Human." I said with confidence as I unleashed my demonic power.
"My servants..." I started.
They all waited.
"Attack!" I ordered.
"YES!" All of them cried out.
My Rooks, Knights, and Pawns, all charged at him while I, my Bishops, and Queen assisted them from a distance.
(Asia's POV)
I watched with bated breath behind the front door as the battle broke out between the two sides.
I had did what Tatsuka-san told me to and waited for him to come back in the living room until he took care of the person who rang the bell.
When I hear a ruckus, I quickly ran here to find out what's going on and to make sure that my new landlord is okay.
To my surprise, the Devil I'd saved back in the Vatican is here, along with an unknown Chinese-looking man who has a bird perched on his shoulder and a spear in his hand.
To my concern, Tatsuka-san is nowhere to be found, and fear crept up to my heart as I thought for the worse.
The Devil I'd saved and the one Tatsuka-san told me to stay away from then calls his peerage to assist him, all of them which are girls who seems to be wearing holy clothing, much to my bewilderment.
Then before I knew it, a fight broke out between them and the Chinese man.
I watched, horrified and in morbid awe as the man fought off all of the Devil's peerage with seemingly no problem at all and with lethal intent.
Then to my shock, another person appeared out of nowhere and helped out the man briefly before disappearing. Another one then appears and disrupt the ones in the back before disappearing as well. Then a third one, and a fourth one...
A ridiculous sight happened shortly after.
An ox appears without warning and charges at the girls, ramming, trampling, and hitting them with its hard horns.
The ox seems to be on good terms with the man as it doesn't try and attempt to attack him.
After what seemed like a couple of minutes, the man, along with the ox had cut down almost all of the Devil's peerage without receiving a single hit themselves. The only one left still standing is his Queen, and even she looked she's on her last legs.
Finally, with one desperate attempt to protect her King, the man finished off the woman by slashing her throat.
I watched as the woman grasp at her neck before falling to the ground.
It is now him and the Devil I'd saved.
(Diodora's POV)
I stared at the hero descendant and his ox with two emotions. Rage, and fear.
Rage at the man for killing my hard-earned peerage, and fear for how easily he dispatches them all.
At first, I have the utmost confidence that I and my servants was able to defeat, and kill this Azazel doppelganger, but it started to slowly wane after he took them out one by one with absolutely no effort whatsoever.
'Che! Just what is this guy?!' I thought furiously.
What kind of Sacred Gear does he have?! He was able to call forth 4 spirits to help him fight, and he has an ox that appears out of nowhere! Not to mention, his way with his spear speaks volume of his experience and skills. And that's not even the worst part.
The worst part... is that we haven't even land a damn scratch on him!
I took a step back when I saw the man started to walk towards me.
'Shit!' I cursed.
'There's no choice! I have to use that again!' I thought.
(Tatsuka's POV)
I 'watched' as my new Chinese Servant stops in his track.
To be honest, when I first summoned him, I had no idea who he was. When this is all over and done with, I gotta look up the name, 'Huang Feihu'.
When he asked for my permission to introduce himself to the trash, I allowed him since I won't let the former leave my home scot-free, even though I might get in trouble later on.
It also gave me a slight view on his character.
When the green-haired bastard calls his peerage here, I told Feihu not to hold back and put the broken girls out of their misery.
And that is how we're here, watching the Devil bring out a bottle containing a black snake.
"Feihu, kill him." I ordered the Servant before adding.
"Ah, can you also please take care with the bottle, too?' I asked.
"Ha!" Feihu complied and run towards his last opponent with his B rank speed.
The trash doesn't even have time to react this time as the Chinese man punched him on the chest with his left hand.
The bastard widened his eyes and coughed violently as he falls to the ground and dropped the bottle he was holding.
Feihu caught the object before it can fall and break on the ground.
He then walked to the downed trash.
The Servant didn't waste a single second and stabbed him on where his heart is.
The green-haired Devil went stiff before going slack and still.
And just like that, a headache was taken care of.
I sighed.
"Man, finally, it's done..." I 'said' in relief and adds.
"Good work, Huang Feihu." I praised my Servant.
"It was nothing, my Lord." He replied modestly.
'We' heard a loud bellow coming from the ox behind 'us' as it walked towards 'us'.
"Haha, you too as well, Wuse Shenniu." I 'smiled'.
Feihu pierced the ground with his spear and switch the bottle to his right hand before stroking the ox's head.
"Alright. You two can go back now." I 'told' them.
"But, my Lord, what about the bodies..?" The Chinese man questioned.
"I'll handle it." I briefly 'answer'.
He nodded.
"Understand, Master. Then I shall leave them to you." Feihu said before giving back my body to me.
(FLASH!)
I took a deep breath and let out an exhausted sigh.
Huang Feihu's ox disappear a second later.
(FLASH!)
"T-Tatsuka-san?!" I heard Asia's voice coming from the front door.
I looked at her with an unsurprised face.
I raised my left hand.
"Yo." I waved at her.
'Makes sense for her to come looking. After all, we did cause quite a ruckus.' I thought.
"But... but how?!" The former nun exclaimed in disbelief.
Boy, this is gonna take a while. Thankfully, the Bounded Field I set up acts like a two-way mirror for my neighbors and noise canceller.
"I explain later. Rght now, I got some cleaning up to do." I told the girl as I walked towards and went past her.
