Authors note: Hey guyssss!
I posting this quite soon after the first chapter, I won't be posting the other chapters this frequently but I just wanted to post the second one sooner.
I was looking through different fanfictions a while ago and didn't find any fanfics about Draco's perspective at Hogwarts starting from his first year and going the whole way through which made me pleased with myself so now no one can say I got inspiration from anything except the actual Harry Potter books!
I don't own Harry Potter if I did then I'd leave Australia and move to England but I don't have that kind of money.
I hope you enjoy! :)
The months went by quickly and all of a sudden it was September 1st.
Draco boarded The Hogwarts Express and found an empty compartment. He sat down and spread out on the seats.
His father had told him the day before that he had to live up to the Malfoy name and if he was acting childishly or seen with anyone who were mudbloods or blood traitors then he'd be taken out of Hogwarts immediately.
He heard banging outside the compartment and looked up. There were two boys dragging their trunks along the ground. He slid the compartment door open and snapped, "Don't drag them along the ground, put them here." He gestured for them to come inside the compartment and sat down again. The two boys put away their trunks and sat down.
"Well sure don't shut the door." Draco got up and slammed the door shut. "What are your names?" He said slumping back down. "Vincent Crabbe." One said. "And?" Draco nodded towards the other. "Gregory Goyle." "Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Draco smirked. "I'm going to just call you Crab and Goyle, they're better names anyways." The two boys nodded and Draco asked, "Purebloods?" The two boys nodded again. "Good." The compartment door slid open. "Anything from the trolley dears?" an old lady wheeling a trolley filled with sweets picked up a box of Berty Bots Every Flavour Beans. "Five of each." Draco grinned. Crabbe and Goyle stared at him as he pulled out a handle full of coins out of his pocket. He took the sweets and tore open a Chocolate Frog. "Uh, Dumbledore." He threw the card on the floor in disgust and bit into the chocolate.
"You two don't talk much, why?" Crabbe and Goyle shrugged. Draco threw a handful of sweets at them and pulled out his wizard robes. He got changed and sat back down. Crabbe and Goyle pulled out their robes just as the compartment door slid open. "Have any of you seen a toad." A girl in her Hogwarts robe with brown bushy hair was standing with her hand on the door. "No, but I'll help look, don't want to watch these two get changed anyways." Draco stood up and left the compartment.
"What's your name?" The girl asked. "Draco." He said trying to catch up with her, she walked really fast. "I'm Hermione. Did you know Harry Potter is on the train?" "Yeah." "Really? Have you seen him?" "No." "Well, I hope we find him when we look for Neville's toad." Hermione turned, walked into a compartment and sat down. Draco sat next to her. "This is Neville." Hermione said. "Neville this is Draco." Draco looked Neville up and down and realized he was Neville Longbottom, he sneered at the boy before standing up; he was not getting withdrawn from Hogwarts before he even got there. He left quickly.
"You said you'd help find Neville's toad!" Hermione called after him but he was already running down the corridor.
He reached his compartment quickly, "Harry Potter's on the train, let's find him." The two boys jumped up and followed Draco down the corridor. He saw a group of girls peering through the windows of a compartment whispering.
Draco pushed them out the way and they all ran off. He slid the compartment door open and saw two boys, one with black hair and one with ginger.
He turned the the black-haired boy, "Is it true? They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's in this compartment. So it's you, is it?"
"Yes," Harry Potter said. Draco noticed Harry was looking at Crabbe and Goyle who were standing either side of him. "Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle." He smirked. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."
The ginger haired boy snorted; Draco turned quickly. "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles and more children than they can afford." He turned to Harry, "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." He held out his hand hopefully but Harry didn't take it instead he said, "I think I can tell who the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," "I'd be careful if I were you Potter, unless you're a bit politer you'll go the same way as you parents. They didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with riff-raff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid and it'll rub off on you."
Both Harry and the Weasley boy stood up and Draco took a step back. "Say that again," Harry glared at him. Draco regained his confidence and said, "You're going to fight us, are you?" "Unless you get out now," "But we don't feel like leaving, do we, boys? We've eaten all our food and you still seem to have some."
Goyle reached for a chocolate frog but he screamed instead, before he even touched it. A rat was hanging from his finger.
Draco backed away with Crabbe next to him. Goyle flung the rat off his finger and the boys ran out the compartment. "Draco?" Hermione stared at him. Draco shook his head and ran.
They got back to their compartment and they slumped onto the seats. Draco looked out the window and saw Hogwarts in the distance. He sat there for the rest of the journey staring out the window.
He felt the train slow down and stood up. Everyone filed out the train while chatting with each other.
Draco, Crabbe and Goyle stuck together and tried to figure out where to go.
"First years! First years over here!" They headed in the direction of the loud booming voice and joined a pack of other first years. Hagrid the half giant was standing in the middle of the small crowd calling out. "Think that's everyone. Alright follow me." Hagrid led them down a path which eventually led to a lake with many boats.
"No more than four to a boat!" Hagrid called. Draco, Crabbe, Goyle and random girl with blond hair all got in a boat and waited for everyone else to get in one.
Once they were all in a boat Hagrid yelled,"Forward!"
The boats moved across the lake and Draco put his hand in the water and let the water flow around his fingers.
The boats got to the other side of the lake and they all got out.
They got led up to the castle and found a strict looking witch who had her hair done up in a tight bun waiting for them. She led them inside the castle and told them to wait outside two giant doors. She went inside the doors and Draco peeked through just as the door was opening. It was a giant hall with four long tables filled with students. The door slammed shut and they were left alone.
They all stood there in silence until a few ghosts came gliding past arguing with each other.
"This is stupid just let us in already." Draco moaned quietly. The doors swung open and Draco jumped.
They were led all the way to the end of the room where there was a stool with an old looking wizard hat sitting on top. "My mother already told me what happens I just want to be sorted already." Draco whispered to Crabbe. He zoned out while the teacher was talking.
"Abbot, Hannah!"
Draco jumped.
The sorting had started.
A blonde-haired girl stumbled forwards and put on the hat. There was a moment of silence until the hat shouted, "HUFFLEPUFF!" Draco sniggered.
Name after name after name was called until finally, "Malfoy, Draco." He walked forward and put the hat on.
"Hm," Draco heard a small voice in his ear. "There's definitely room for improvement but not a bad mind, hm, some talent, smart, yes but where to put you?" 'Slytherin please, please Slytherin, please, please.' Draco thought. "Slytherin are you sure? You could be good in Ravenclaw; you'd be better off there you know." 'No, no, no' Draco begged. "Well, if you're sure, SLYTHERIN!"
Draco sighed, took off the hat and sat down next to Crabbe and Goyle. "You two have been sorted already!?" He asked. "Yeah, you didn't know?" A girl sitting across from him laughed. "Pansy Parkinson." She said and held out her hand. He slapped her hand away, "Stop being stupid Pansy." "It's not my fault we already know each other, I want to actually make some new friends."
He frowned and looked up and down the table, "Where's the food?" "Who knows, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if we had to eat each other." "What?" Draco asked. "You know, survival of the fittest." Pansy shrugged. "Yeah, no." "You got sorted fast." Pansy stated. "Really? It felt like forever."
"Potter, Harry." Everyone went silent and Draco rolled his eyes. Harry sat on the stool for at least a whole minute before the hat shouted "GRYFFINDOR!" Draco smirked. The Great Hall exploded. The Gryffindor table gave the loudest cheer yet.
"Draco," "What?" "Why don't they talk?" Pansy pointed at Crabbe and Goyle. Draco shrugged and watched Harry walk over to the Gryffindor table.
"Hey!" "What?" "Don't ignore me Draco." "I didn't even know you were talking." Draco grinned "To be honest I would have thought Harry Potter would look more, you know, famous," "What do you mean." "Well, famous people are like rich, right? So why does he look like he's been living in a trashcan" "I don't know, you ask him." Draco said still staring at Harry. "Stop staring at him, merlin, do you want his autograph or something?" Draco looked down at his plate again. "I'm hungry." He stated. "Me too." Pansy looked down at her plate.
Albus Dumbledore stood up.
"Great, another speech." Draco whispered sarcastically. Pansy tried to hold in her laugh but ended up making a small giggle which she managed to turn into a cough. Draco looked over at Harry again.
He ignored the speech it was stupid and wasn't interesting at all.
"Draco!" Draco jumped. "What?" Pansy pointed at the plates on the table. They were piled full with more food than he had ever seen.
Draco started to pile food on his plate. "They are purebloods as well." He said pointing at Crabbe and Goyle. Pansy smirked at Crabbe and Goyle who were stuffing their faces with food.
"I met this girl on the train her name was like Hermi-Hermio- I don't know but yeah anyways, she wanted me to find a toad or something so I helped but I ended up meeting Harry Potter." "You mean Hermione?" Pansy asked in disgust. "Yeah, that was it, she was pretty nice actually." "She's a mudblood." Pansy groaned. "Oh merlin," He banged his head on the tabe a few times before going back to eating. "We met Potter, he was with a Weasley! How stupid could he possibly be!?" "So what, because he's stupid you want to watch him 24/7?" Pansy smirked. Draco looked away from Harry and kicked Pansy under the table.
Pansy and Draco finished eating around the same time so they sat waiting.
All the leftover food disappeared and desserts appeared. Draco took one bite of cake but didn't eat any more than that. Pansy switched her empty plate with his and ate the cake plus about ten other things.
The desserts disappeared and Pansy grumbled.
Dumbledore stood up again and this time Draco ignored him on purpose again.
"Draco." Crabbe nudged him. "Huh?" "He spoke!" Pansy laughed. "Who did?" Draco asked. "One of your body guards." "Oh."
Everyone was filing out of the great hall. He stood up and walked around the table with Crabbe and Goyle to be on the same side as Pansy. "First years here, hurry up I don't have all day! Hey midgets, get over here!" Draco, Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle headed towards the prefect yelling at them. The prefects already had all the first year Slytherins surrounding them.
"This way." They all followed the prefect out of the great hall and down a set of stairs which led into what looked like dungeons. He led them to a blank stretch of wall. One of the prefects told them to stand back and faced the wall, "Pigs feet." Draco couldn't help but laugh quietly at the password.
The wall opened and the prefects led them inside.
Inside the common room the lighting was green, there were also green sofas and a fireplace. "Boys up the stairs on the left, girls upstairs on the right. Goodnight." One of the prefects stated before both of them walked away.
Draco went upstairs with Crabbe and Goyle. He walked into their dorm room and got changed out of his robes. He lay down on his bed and looked over at the bed next to him, there was a boy with brown hair sitting there who was staring back at him. Draco turned around but could still feel the boy's eyes on the back of his head. He turned back around, "Stop staring." The brown-haired boy turned red and looked away. He fell asleep almost straight away.
