Jamie woke up with a start as the doorbell began buzzing overhead. Jamie was so used to people just walking in and out of her room all the time without knocking or using the doorbell, that she started a plan to kill the doorbell when this was over. Jamie, who was still in the undershirt and underwear she got there in, groggily got up and walked over to the damned door that ruined her perfect dream about Trip. It wasn't that unusual for Jamie to have dreams about Trip as she had gotten ahold of some footage of the southerner when she was fifteen.

At first, the videos were just for educational reasons then it soon turned into Jamie just wanting to see Trip's face and hear his voice. Jamie even got her hands on any audio files Trip had made during his time on the ship as the chief engineer. There were many times where both Bones and Spock had found Jamie sleeping somewhere while listening to the audio files on her pad. Over the years, when Jamie started dating, she would compare her dates to Trip if the date was going poorly.

"Yes?" Jamie asked in a hoarse voice not even noticing who was at the door.

Jamie still hadn't had her morning cup of coffee just yet and was still out of it when the door opened. Time traveling was apparently a lot like changing time zones very quickly and Jamie had a variation of jet lag.

"Well, good morning to you too sleepyhead." Said the cheerful voice that belonged to the young Hoshi Sato.

This woke Jamie up as she never expected Hoshi to interact with her like she was right at this second.

"They told you?" Jamie asked referring to Phlox, Trip, John and T'Pol.

Jamie knew that starships were breeding grounds for the gossip mills, especially when there were long periods of time between shore leaves. Especially her Enterprise as her Orion friend, Gaila, was at the forefront of the whole gossip train on the ship and even spread gossip to other ships. But Jamie didn't think that the the gossip mill went this far back in time.

"The whole senior staff knows about you. The rest of the crew believes that you're just a visiting captain here to do an inspection of John in his 'natural habitat' as he said." Hoshi said

Jamie laughed at what Hoshi had said because that was what she had told John about her time in space while in medical just before she was released by Phlox.

"Leave it to John to come up with something like that." Jamie said as she continued to laugh at what she heard from the Asian.

Hoshi also laughed as she knew what John was capable of.

"Malcom can't wait till you have a talk with him." Hoshi said

"Not that I don't love you, but, you're here why?" Jamie asked

"I volunteered to bring you some clothes and underwear." Hoshi said as she had a stack of clothes in her hand.

In the pile of clothes there were five duty uniforms with captain's stripes, five pairs of undergarments, five undershirts, five pairs of jeans and a hoodie. When Starfleet came into existence, the Vulcans gave the fleet some technology that allowed people to know someone's clothes sizes just with a bio scan. The Vulcans made this tech about one hundred fifty years before the time of first contact with earth so they didn't have to ask someone what size they were when they joined the military or something, they said it was only logical. It usually helped the quartermaster with uniform distribution as the line could go faster with the scans sizing up new and existing personnel.

It also helped with the fact that Starfleet usually did medical and bio scans on the way in and uniforms on the way out. And Jamie knew for a fact that Phlox had gotten in a bio scan of her when she was in medical yesterday afternoon after Trip had brought her in. Luckily the underwear Jamie was brought was cute, but wasn't the sexy stuff most women wear to please the people they're gonna sleep with. Jamie didn't need to give anyone that idea of her while she was working in engineering while waiting for Spock to get her.

"Wow that's a lot of clothes." Jamie said as she looked to the stack of 21 folded items.

Since all plastic and single use items were outlawed on earth a few years before Solkar, Spock's great grandfather, made first contact with earth. They were even outlawed on starships for reusable things that could be found everywhere in every store. And now the only way someone could carry a stack of clothes from point A to point B was to find a basket, a fabric bag, a big box or to carry it all in.

"John had put you on the roster down in engineering to help Trip in some way. So you have some extras just in case you rip any and he said not to grab any shoes as the ones you have are okay. But they did never tell me why you're gonna work down there till we get you back to where you belong." Hoshi said

"It's not to help Trip, it's to help me repeat history." Jamie said

"What do you mean?" Hoshi asked

Jamie then pulled Hoshi into her room, locked the door and proceed to tell the Asian woman everything that she had told to the 4 that were with her the day before. To say that Hoshi was shocked about what she was told would be the understatement of the century. Her face almost resembled that of a person who watched a scary movie for the first time and found it lacking.

"Oh my fucking god." Hoshi said when Jamie was finished talking.

"I know it's a lot of information to take in." Jamie said

"Of course it's a lot of information. I can't believe that we never told you everything." Hoshi said

"T'Pol explained it that if I had known beforehand, things would have been completely different then if I hadn't been told by you all from the start. Like everything I would have done would have been completely false and fake." Jamie said

The words seemed to sink into Hoshi's mind as the communications officer began to think about what Jamie had told her.

"And we didn't tell you how you would fall for Trip?" Hoshi asked

"Nope. And the only information I have about Trip falling for me is sometime after watching me in engineering." Jamie answered

Jamie got dressed, all though she didn't fully put the jumpsuit on, only the pants, and tied the top part around her waist. She had been told by Hoshi, John and Malcom in the future that the dress code was pretty lax if the crew members were not working. Jamie had followed Hoshi to the mess hall to get some breakfast before starting the day down in engineering. Hoshi was shocked when Jamie grabbed a large mug from the cupboard and filled it with Pomleek soup that the chef had prepared specifically for T'Pol, though anyone could have at it.

"I grew up not being picky about the food that I was given to eat. And I happen to like Pomleek soup." Jamie said when she saw the look on Hoshi's face.

Rarely anyone had taken some of the soup before T'Pol had gotten there.

"Then why are you getting normal human food as well as the soup?" Hoshi asked as she looked to the full plate Jamie had in her hand.

"I found that if I only consume Pomleek soup for breakfast, I tend to be really hungry at lunch." Jamie said

There was a period of time, a week at most, when Jamie as about nine years old when she wouldn't eat anything but Pomleek soup that was prepared by Amanda, Spock's mother. The protest had soon ended when Jamie went to her guardians and confessed that she was really hungry and wanted human food again.

"Does your metabolism run differently then a normal human's?" Hoshi asked as she and Jamie sat at a table.

"My metabolism runs quite a bit faster then a normal human metabolism. I was told by Phlox and a dietitian that I needed to consume more calories than normal to stay healthy and to stay away from malnutrition line. And as I grew up I found that I needed to eat a little bit more in the morning to stop from being cranky later on." Jamie explained

"When did you find this out about it?" Hoshi said

"When I was about nine years old I went on a strike, because stupid kid mind, where I would only eat Pomleek soup that was prepared by Amanda who is my first officer's mother, I'll tell you about that later. But the strike only lasted a week when I went to you, Phlox, John and Malcom saying I was starving." Jamie said

"And we found it weird as the soup usually fills someone up?" Hoshi said in a questioning tone.

"Exactly." Jamie said before she took a bite of her cheese covered scrambled eggs.

Jamie did end up telling Hoshi who Amanda and Spock were and even her relationship with them, Sarek and Bones. They ate as Jamie quietly told Hoshi her life, about her friends, about her dog that came from the same litter as John's most recent dog.

"What did you named your dog?" Hoshi asked

"I named her Athena, after the Greek goddess of wisdom." Jamie answered

While Christianity was no longer a religion on earth, paganism was thriving as it was one religion that could explain space travel and science. Bones was one example of how paganism worked on a starship as he worshiped Apollo for the medicine part of the god.

"Why Athena?" Hoshi asked

"I had this weird fascination with the Greek pantheon growing up and had promised myself that if I ever get a dog, I would name it after a god or goddess." Jamie said as she played with her food.

Remembering her childhood was always a sore spot for Jamie as she had a dead father and a mother who didn't want her. There were a couple of times on training cruises where Jamie had run into Winona, but because Winona had changed her last name, no one knew they were related. On those cruises, even though she was permitted in engineering to help out, Jamie stuck to the security offices where she was assigned.

"Are you alright." Hoshi asked as she saw a tear run down Jamie's cheek.

"Yeah. I'm fine." Jamie said as she wiped away the tear.

"No you're not. Come on tell me all about it." Hoshi said

Jamie then explained on what happened to her father being killed in action, but left out the future Romulans killing him because they didn't know they time traveled. They even dimension hopped as well because in their universe, Jim Kirk was a guy that didn't travel back in time to get a engineer and was was raised by his parents. There was also the fact that Jim Kirk Prime rose through the ranks the normal way. There was also a difference between Kelvin Chris Pike and Prime Chris Pike as Prime Chris never married and never had kids.

Prime Chris also got severely hurt in a plasma reactor accident before he made the rank of admiral like Kelvin Chris. Then she told Hoshi about her mother not wanting her because of the reminder of that day because she was born the day George had been killed. And how everyone treated her at the academy because she was the 'Kelvin baby' that was born in murder and destruction. She was treated poorly by some because there were people who thought George dying and being born a Kirk was her fault somehow.

After telling Hoshi basically everything, she brought up a picture of her, Bones and Spock the night of her first debutante ball. She was in a white dress as per tradition, as her escort Bones was in a traditional suit and Spock was in a normal human suit. It was after the ball so Bones's bow tie and Spock's tie were undone and lazily hanging around their necks. Bones had taken off the gloves he was made to wear and Jamie had taken her own gloves off her hands and had one of her hoodies on as she was a bit cold.

Jamie's hair was a mess and Spock had even cracked a small smile to be like his friends that he was so fond of. The three had gone for a cheeseburger and fries, or a veggie burger in the case of Spock, as the dinner they had at the ball was lacking. It had become tradition to go for burgers after each ball to celebrate getting through it without any whining. The adults never followed as they all knew that the kids needed some alone time to just be kids.

Now each year, around ball time, the trio would go to the same burger joint and just be them without any responsibilities. No homework, no Starfleet, no hospitals, no kids, no paperwork and absolutely no overbearing family members whatsoever. Because of their annual visit, the trio had gained a reputation at the restaurant, though it was a good reputation. The owner even knew them by name and order and they knew his name.

Mr. Goodwin had loved it when Jamie, Spock and Bones would visit each year and so did his wife as Mr. Goodwin would be really happy the week leading up to that day. Jamie had worked at the restaurant right after grad school but before Starfleet as no one expect the Kelvin baby to be flipping burgers. Because he was such a good boss, Mr. Goodwin would even let his employees use the kitchen if they wanted to cook a meal for themselves. Well, they were allowed to use it if their cooking didn't interfere with the kitchen staff earning their paychecks.

There were no hard feelings when Jamie had told Mr. Goodwin that she was quitting to join Starfleet because Bones was having a midlife crisis after his divorce. Yes, Jamie knew what a midlife crisis was as she thought it would be funny to get a masters degree in psychology while at grad school. No one knows about that degree as Jamie rarely uses it in her day to day life, but it did help her be a good captain that anyone could approach. Though her psych degree made it very difficult to be in the same room as a practicing therapist as she would normally yell that she was constantly psychoanalyzing herself.

After she ate and a good hug from Hoshi, Jamie headed down to engineering as fixing things usually helped clear he mind.
