Background
Tsukuru was born to two parents, a man named Harishima and a woman named Nene, all three names generally raising some questionable concerns from where they came from. He grew up in the French Quarter, which was considered the best and most well-known neighborhood in Louisiana.
From a young age, it was clear that Tsukuru was not a normal child. He never played with the other kids, preferring to be alone, drawing and writing in journals that he was able to afford due to working as a newspaper boy/reporter. Because of all of that, Tsukuru gained a reputation as the "friendless boy," with people often giving him disapproving looks, not understanding why a child would want to be alone.
For the first seven years of his life, Tsukuru's life was normal, attending school, working a job to secure money for himself and his parents, as well as improving his drawing skills. All of it changed, however, because of one fateful night, when their home was raided, his mother and father were killed, and the house was set on fire, which ended up spreading towards the rest of the Quarter. Tsukuru could do nothing but watch in horror.
Over the next few days, Tsukuru moved to Salem, Massachusetts to live with his grandmother and grandfather, severely scarred for life, unconsciously becoming numb when reliving the incident again and again, simply staring ahead, not moving or talking, which worried his grandparents (everything they tried doing only resulted in Tsukuru isolating himself more). To occupy himself — and to change for the better — Tsukuru began a small career as both a singer and an actor, finding comfort while singing the songs that he heard from his mother.
As the years passed, Tsukuru remained lonely as always, not even bothering to interact with other people, not even his own grandparents, afraid that they would get killed just like his parents. He dropped out of school and furthered his career in order to, once again, support himself, his guardians having died of old age when he was thirteen years old.
A few days after he turned fifteen, he met a boy named Mujihi Shizukana in the woods behind the house that he lived in. The two quickly became friends, and Tsukuru felt as though he had never been happier, even if worries about what happened all those years ago still crossed his mind, especially since he had learned to bury those memories in order to not let himself get overwhelmed with his emotions.
One day, Shizukana began talking about how he met a dark-haired male with "unimaginable powers," saying that he's someone who could make their lives better. Taking the opportunity to do more than be stuck in a place where he feels that he doesn't belong, Tsukuru grabs his belongings and, after meeting Shizukana at the edge of the woods, meets the leader, Austerus, and begins his life as the Feared Assassin, becoming consumed by cruelty, malice and bloodlust.
Personality
Tsukuru is presented as an immoral psychopath who will not hesitate to kill anyone he perceives as a threat to his own sinister designs (that, as well as assassinate anyone when ordered to by Austerus). Like numerous clinically-diagnosed psychopaths, even those driven mad by traumatic events, Tsukuru wears a metaphorical mask of normalcy, establishing himself as a cool-headed schemer and gaining the trust of those around him despite his rather untrustworthy physical appearance. Even with this mask, Tsukuru's psychopathic tendencies tend to seep through and become apparent to he interacts with, such as the other members of the Death Court.
Tsukuru also displays narcissistic tendencies, his most obvious ones being his obsessive desire for power and sense of entitlement, as he hates being "second best" to anyone else — be it Austerus or another member of the Death Court. Its in fact this excessive thirst for power that can ultimately lead to his downfall if he continues.
Humanity, however, can be found in his relationship with Akutō Satsujin; although Tsukuru is a driving force behind plans of the Death Court, and in turn reaps most of the credit and reward with his powers, he and Satsujin share a camaraderie that can be considered uncommon, as they are both cunning, sadistic, power-hungry, and have a mutual hatred for villains and Pro Heros alike — though it's never explained why they dislike them — the two get along quite well.
Physical Appearance
Tsukuru is a tall, stringy-looking teenager, with brown eyes and applied grey eyeliner that he acquired sometime after joining the Death Court, and is often referred to as "quiet," "creepy," and "sinister," clearly all traits found in psychopaths.
His ensemble consists of a black wide-brimmed hat with a silver star embedded on it, a teared-up black waistcoat and a black coat, with a black cape wrapped around his shoulders, dressed in equally teared-up, durable, black pants, black shoes, along with a long-sleeved grey shirt coated with blood from the assassinations that he had committed. He also keeps a knife in one of the pockets of the coat, along with a golden scarab eagle (though it's always broken into two halves before and after it's used).
Powers and Abilities
Feng Shui Engine: The Feng Shui is a device in the shape of an eye that Austerus gave to Tsukuru after he had lost his right eye when it was stabbed by a syringe, though the power was changed to something more fitting when Tsukuru planted it into his eye. If he activates it — which would make the eye glow with a white light — and made direct eye contact with someone, their Quirk would be permanently destroyed and they would in a matter of seconds (the ones ones immune to it are the rest of the Death Court).
Relationships
Dwekehen Austerus: Both Tsukuru and Austerus have a neutral relationship, even if they're the ones who interact the least with each other. Much like the other members, though, Tsukuru remains loyal to Austerus, despite him being envious that Austerus has a higher position of power than he does, and often tries to keep this in check.
Shakkin Shiruetto: Because the two of them aren't friends, yet not strangers either, Tsukuru's relationship with Shiruetto is based off their partnership, something that Tsukuru doesn't mind in the slightest. The two also consider their powers to be the strongest, and the both have a one-sided rivalry to see who can be the more fearsome one without using any of their powers.
Akutō Satsujin: Much like himself, Tsukuru respects Satsujin (his psychopathic tendencies are another thing) for being level-headed and not for being an outright deranged killer. Much like Austerus, Tsukuru is also envious of the relationship between Satsujin and Shizukana, often wondering what the two see in each other, but isn't, at any point, disrespectful or says anything cruel about the two, knowing that not something he'd ever do.
Mujihi Shizukana: Tsukuru often considers Shizukana as his second friend, as the other is cool, calm, and has an obsession with books (though not as much as the obsession that has to do when with his boyfriend). Because the two grew up in well-known neighborhoods, both often study a map of the world, pinning down the places that they wish they could travel to.
