The Winx Club's Sodor Adventures - Season 2
Episode 26: Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree
It was two days before Christmas. Many children were expected on the Island of Sodor. All the engines and their friends were busy with the final preparations. Sir Topham Hatt wanted this year's carol party to be an extra special celebration.
Sir Topham Hatt was now waiting impatiently for Thomas and Bloom. "Quickly now!" he said. "Our Christmas tree has arrived just in time. I want you and Bloom to fetch it, Thomas. Duck and Mirta can look after Annie and Clarabel until you get back.
"Will we be able to sing carols too?" asked Thomas.
"We'll see," promised Sir Topham Hatt.
"It would be nice to sing carols again," sighed Thomas to Bloom.
"I know, Thomas," said Bloom, "it's such a wonderful time. I can't wait."
And soon, they set off on their important mission.
Thomas and Bloom collected the tree safely, but large snowdrifts lay ahead.
"Thomas!" cried Bloom. "Watch out!"
"Whoa!" cried Thomas as they crash into the snowdrift.
"Are you okay, Thomas?" asked Bloom.
"I'm alright, Bloom," said Thomas. "But we mustn't be late. Sir Topham Hatt is relying on us."
Whistling bravely, Thomas tried to move. But he couldn't. There was worse to come. Thomas was snowed under!
Meanwhile, the other engines and their friends waited and waited. They were grumbling about Thomas and Bloom for being late.
"Why should Thomas go?" grumbled Henry. "He can't do anything a splendid green engine like me couldn't do."
"Nor me," agreed Gordon. "Anyone would think he was special or something. Perhaps he's stuck in a tunnel somewhere."
Henry let off steam indignantly. "Pooh!" he said. "He's much more likely to have been turned onto a branch line."
"He could have run into a cow..." suggested Donald.
"Silence!" said Sir Topham Hatt. "Thomas and Bloom left Brendam Docks with the tree safely, but the snow from last night's storm has brought the telephone lines down. We must assume they are stranded somewhere on Edward and Tecna's branch line."
Everyone now felt sorry for their two friends. And cold but confident, Sky, Brandon and the Scottish twins set off to the rescue.
Suddenly, they came to a drift that was deeper than the rest. Then very faintly, there came a muffled cry.
"Help!"
"Hush!" said Donald. "I can hear something!"
"Probably the wind," said Douglas.
"Help!"
"No, listen," insisted Sky. "I can hear it too!"
"Over here!"
"Och! It's Thomas!" said Douglas. "Come on, the poor wee engine must be frozen to the frames in there."
"And if we know Bloom," said Brandon, "she couldn't have gone too far before Thomas was buried."
When the workmen arrived, it took some time to decide how to dig away the heavy drifts of snow. Bloom, who evacuated from Thomas before it fell on him and had taken shelter at a nearby cottage, joined Sky and Brandon for the rescue. At last, Thomas and the precious Christmas tree were free from the snowdrift.
"Achoo!" exclaimed Thomas as some snow fell off of him.
"Thomas, are you alright?" asked Bloom.
"I'm okay," said Thomas, "except for being cold under the snowdrift."
"Good thing we came to help," said Sky. "Now, let's go. We got to get the tree delivered in time for the party."
And so they set off once more to finish their long journey.
Sir Topham Hatt greeted them warmly. "As a reward for all your hard work, you may go and enjoy the carols. Be quick now."
At Tidmouth station, all were soon ready.
"One, two, three!"
Suddenly, like magic, the station was flooded with lights.
"Ladies, gentlemen, children, engines, fairies, specialists and witches, I give you three cheers for Thomas the Tank Engine and all his friends who had made this occasion possible."
Everyone cheered. Then there was a familiar whirring sound. Percy and Toby smiled, they knew who it was.
With landing lights shining brightly, Harold and Miss Griselda touched down gently in the snow, bringing the greatest surprise of all, Santa Claus.
Everyone cheered and the party began.
"It's no fun getting stuck in the snow," whispered Thomas to his friends, "but it was worth it for this party."
"You're right, Thomas," said Bloom. "Despite all that, this has been the best Christmas ever! Happy holidays, Thomas!"
"Happy Holidays, Bloom!" cheered Thomas. "Happy Holidays, Percy! Happy Holidays, everyone!"
