Chapter 6: Visit and troubles in Illumine city

We see our trio of heroes exiting the guild with Blanche in the lead and her friends following her. Cynane is next to the angel, preparing to protect her lord when all the city's mon will decide to be too much for him.

"Let's begin this tour," said the chinchilla, fist-bumping the air. The angel looks at her amused while the knight shakes her head. Well, they understand why she is this happy. After all, she can act like the guide she wants to be. "Follow me, lord Erpoejnel. I will show you and explain about all the shops in this city." And he does that. While following his companion, he wonders if they will get other little tasks like that.

Flashback

"Your first task will be to visit the city," Alessia said. The grey mon nods, liking this task while the dragon narrows her eyes wondering why something this simple is a task. The pure being nods too, he knows nothing about the city. Knowledge is power. It will help to gain knowledge about the key point of the city, and hearing rumors will tell him more about the world. He learned to not dismiss a rumor, they always begin somewhere, leading to the creator or to a problem. "I know it isn't grandiose, but all the beginners get this task first so they can acclimate themselves," said the gardevoir softly. She then sends them to the entry so they can begin their task. But before that.

"My lord, can you tell what memories made you snicker at our introduction," the blue mon asked, the guide looks confused. The savior smiles

"You see, Gardevoir made me remember one of my old friends," his companions are focused on him, "she was a petite female and she acted as my knight and my maid."

"Eh?! Seriously?!" exclaimed the furry mon, surprised that her lord had a knight being his maid too. The now knight blinks at that wondering the same thing.

"Yes, she was kind and dutiful. But you don't want to anger her. She used the same aura that Alessia used when angry." The girls shiver, remembering this aura. "And I had another friend who was my martial artist, a fighting type in this world for clarity." Now the girls raise an eyebrow wondering it goes. "He was noble and a great fighter. He was quite tall too, seven feet tall." The girls gap at that. "But he wasn't the sharpest one. When he was too hard-headed or too straightforward, my maid scolded him." He stifles a laugh. "It always makes me laugh when he became afraid of her." They try to imagine the scene and they admit it is funny. Well more like trying to stifle their laughter.

"I understand now, it is funny," said the cleaner mon between giggles. The blue mon said nothing. She has her back turned but from her body vibrating, they know she is trying to not laugh. The furry mon shakes her head at her childhood friend.

"Can you tell us more about your old friend," she said. The savior winces a little at that which the girls notice.

"It's better I tell you another time, it will take time. Right now, we should go do our task," he said. They accept knowing they should go.

Flashback end

Erpoejnel comes back from reality just in time for Blanche's explanation. They're in front of a stand looking like a gecko. The two merchants are geckos themselves. The one on the left is green while the other is purple, and right now they are gaping.

"Lord Erpojnel, those two are the Keckleon brothers. They are in charge of selling all types of items," said the guide. The angel raises an eyebrow but he sees that she is right. There are foods, seeds, some orbs, and some…strange devices.

"I see," he said nodding before turning to the brothers. "It is nice to meet you two."

"It is nice to meet you too, lord Erpoejnel. Come whenever you need items," said the two brothers. Wow, they are really merchants he thought. They have all the moves of one.

They continue their tour until they are in front of a cat-like stand. And the owner is a cat with a purple…scarf? He doesn't know.

"This is Delcatty, she is the one responsible for the bank," the guide said. A bank?

"What is a bank? I'm not familiar with this concept," he said. His companion and the cat are surprised.

"Don't thee has't bank in thy fusty w'rld, mine own l'rd," said the knight? He shakes slowly his head.

"It is simple, my lord" the cat gets his attention, "a bank serves to protect the money of their client so they don't lose it in mystery dungeons." She puts a paw on her chest. "You can count on me too. Security and trust are the morals of this bank." His eyes widen. He would never think of this concept. Putting your money in a secure place other than your house is a good concept. If the bank is trustworthy, then people will not fear raids and bandits.

"I see, it is a good concept," he said. His old people never thought of that.

"Well, we would like to deposit our money," the furry mon said, giving a bag of money to the cat. The delcatty take it.

"Thanks for your trust. Your money will be in safe hands. Do you need something else," she replied. The guide shakes no. "Then I see you the next time." The trio departs.

Our heroes continue their tour, still getting the look of the mons around them. Blanche smiles but inside she is panicking. Meanwhile, Cynane stays close to her lord while he ponders on what next shop they will visit. After a moment he sees a stand looking like a steel-armored mon. He can see an anvil too.

"We approaching the blacksmith," the shy mon said. This is the blacksmith like he thought.

"Aye, and from the behold of the standeth, t is did own by an Aggron," said the knight. As they approach, the owner notices them and his eyes widen for a fraction of a second before smiling.

"Welcome to Aggron's Armory, what can I do for your group, my lord," Aggron said amicably.

"Right now, we're just visiting. But I would like to see the quality of your creation," the angel said, smiling a little.

"Oh, I can do that, my pieces are the best that you can find", the steel mon said with a large smile, hitting his chest.

"Oh, really," said the pure being. There is a glint in his eye. Aggron's smile widens even more before he disappears inside. He comes back with what looks like a saber. The angel took it, inspect it from all angle, feel it and balance it. He nods in appreciation.

"It is indeed a good piece," the otherworlder said. "Do you have anything enchanted?" Interrogation points appear above the merchant and his companion.

"' Enchanted'?" said the blacksmith confused.

"What is 'Enchanted'," said the guide, wondering the same question? The dragon nods, wanting to know too. The angel raises an eyebrow at that.

'It seems not all concepts are discovered by this world,' the angel thought. "Well, enchantment art is used for giving new property to objects, armor, weapons, etc." He points at the blue mon, and she raises an eyebrow. "An example is if you apply the right enchantment to her armor, then she can be resistant to some type." Jaws fall on the ground. The first one to recover is Blanche, her shock is replaced by excitement.

"Really?!" she exclaimed. He thought she looks like a child visiting the castle.

"Really… But it needs knowledge and creativity to use it," he said with a raised finger.

"Of course!" she said, air escaping her nose. She really want to learn it, what with that smile and determined eyes.

"Enchantments…" the dragon mumbled, cupping her chin.

"It's really something I would like to learn," the steel/rock type mon said, cupping his chin too.

"Well, I can teach you the basics and some if you want. It would be good for the éclaireurs in the long, " the angel said. The others are surprised by his offer.

"Really?" the tallest mon asked. The savior nods.

"Yes, just give me time to write all I know," he replied.

"Of course! Oh, my name is Ferrer. I accept your offer, my lord," the rock mon.

"We should go, there are still things to see," the furry mon interrupted. The angel nods at her.

"I will come back with my knowledge. For now, have a nice day," the angel said, smiling.

"Of course, have a nice day too," Ferrer said, smiling widely. The trio departs again.

As they walk on the road, Cynane wonders something about her lord.

"My lord, have you a hobby about armors?" she asked, curious about the exchange with Ferrer. Blanche listens too.

"Do you remember about my old fighting friend?" he asked. The girls nod. "He was a passionate blacksmith. Once, I decided to help him. After that, I began to learn under his wings." He scratches his cheek. "I develop a passion too," he said with some embarrassment. The girls smile at that. He closes his eyes, remembering his friend. "Ferrer is like my old companion, friendly and passionate. Now that I remember," he looks at his hands before a raincloud appears above his head, "I am even smaller now." They blink at him.

"Were you really small before, lord Erpoejnel," asked the guide? She can't imagine an old hero being small before. The knight thinks about it too.

"Yes, because of my power, I stopped aging after 10 years old. I never grew up past 4'6''." He is now sitting on the floor, knees against the chest with arms and wings around them. The raincloud becomes bigger. The girls take a step back.

"Wow, do humans are this tall?" the guide asked softly. The angel sight before standing up, the cloud is nowhere.

"Yes, the second smallest was my wizard at 5'3'', after there was my maid at 5'6'' and the tallest was my martial artist at 7'," he said. The girls are so shocked that they turn to stone. The angel sweatdrops at that. He clears his throat. "We should go."

We see the trio nearing a shop with a potion sign. Instead of a stand, it is a building in the form of a… magician? Wizard? … Ghost? The angel wonders where this thought came from.

"Misdreavus, my lord," said the dragon. Ah, she must have seen his questions appear above his head. Well, no time like the present.

The first to enter is Blanche, then Cynane, and finally Erpoejnel. When the door opened, a bell dinged.

"An instant, I will be with you in an instant," a female voice can be heard from above them. They see a staircase leading up. The trio inspects the shops. They can see shelves filled with orbs, potions, sticks, and books. Looking closer, the pure being notices that the sticks are in reality wands. Taking a book, he opens it seeing it empty. But he inspects the quality of the paper and what he finds made his eyes focused on it.

'This is…' he thought. This is a grimoire. It seems magic exists in this world. But the question is: Does pokemon use grimoires when they have their move? After all, it is magic too. Putting it back, he searches for his companion to gather.

"There are so many potions in this shop!" exclaimed the grey mon. You can see the stars surrounding her head.

"I wast obs'rving the wond'r 'rbs. I did see th're art of bett'r quality," said the dragon.

"What did you see, lord Erpoejnel," asked the cleaner mon? He turns his head toward a shelf.

"I was inspecting this part of this shop." he points at it, palm up. The girls are confused.

"Is there something you found interesting in those wands and books?" asked his guide. He raises an eyebrow at that question.

"Oh, are you not familiar with the magic art?" He asked back. The girls look at each other before looking back at him.

"Well, it isn't we didn't hear it…" the furry mon begins and her dragon continues.

"The creat'r hath said 'twill pusheth our potential with infinite potential, but from the demonstration obs'rved, t did look liketh our moves. So, mons cashiered t, " explained the knight. The angel is shocked at that. Did they really dismiss this art and its potential with it? A put a hand on his face, shaking it, mumbling 'what folly'. He looks back at his companion with a serious, surprising them.

"Blanche, Cynane, it is true about infinite potential. This art shouldn't be dismissed," he said. The girls are shocked. Does their savior know something they don't? He closes his eyes. "It is true it can be used for mundane. But," he opens his eyes, again with a serious look, "a master of this art can even bend space-time." The girls freeze at that news. Bend space-time? Is that really possible?

"S-seriously," asked the guide shyly? The savior's face softens before nodding his face.

"Sorry for the wait," they can hear. A new mon goes down the staircase. It is Misdreavus. She wears a red coat, a collar with red stones, and a red ribbon attach to her hat. "Welcome to my shop! Do you need aaaaaaaa-EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHH!" she screamed when she sees the savior. "A-are you…" she tried to ask but to shock to finish. He sweatdrops before nodding. She shakes her head. "Ah, sorry for that, where are my manners? I'm Luna, the shop's owner, and a wizard. Do you need anything?" There is a glint in the angel's eyes when he heard 'wizard'.

"We're just visiting, we're the new recruit of the guild," said the shy mon.

"Aye, but couldst we seeth thy magic? i'm curious about t," said the knight, surprising her friend. Luna nods happily.

"Of course, I can, if you follow me," she said, leading them to a backward training target. The wizard takes a wand from somewhere before looking at her guest.

"Look closely. You will see the art with infinite possibilities," she said boastfully. She faces the target before pointing her wand toward one. "Fireball!" she exclaimed while a magical circle appears. The trio is surprised at that, but the more surprised one is the angel.

'Is that…' Yes, savior, there are runes. The magical circle is composed of runes. A fireball hits the target after that. She begins again, but this time, a wind ball hits another target. The wizard turns toward her guest.

"So, how was that," the ghost mon said happily. She is really passionate about her art, the savior thought.

"This is quite surprising honestly. Mons can use a type, they can't normally, with it," said the furry mon in an honest voice.

"Aye, but how th're is infinite possibilities in this art?" said the blue mon, still not believing this fact. The wizard looks dejected now, she knows it has infinite possibilities but this is still a work-in-progress art and it's difficult to find new symbols that work. But she is surprised when the savior approach. She doesn't him to mock her too.

"Do you have a piece of paper and a pen? I would like to show something," he said. Confused by his request, she still nods, going back to her shop to find the requested items. After one minute, she comes back with them, giving them to the savior who thanks her. He begins to draw something, and she wonders what is it. After one minute and a half, he shows her his drawing.

"I would like you to use this magic circle. I'm sure it will surprise my companion," he said smiling at her. The wizard looks at the drawing, surprised to see a more complex circle. She is shocked to learn the savior knows her art. There is a hopeful glint in her eyes. She nods vigorously, facing another target. She focuses because this is new magic for her. The same circle of the drawing appears before a small come. Then, this flame become bigger and changed to a blue color. The trio's girls' eyes widen at that.

"I-is that…" tired to say the furry mon. Her friend next to her isn't better.

"Impossible…" the dragon exclaimed, shocked at this development. The wizard sends the fireball. When it hits, it creates a bigger explosion and destroys completely the target. The four mons need to cover their eyes from the dust cloud created by the explosion. At that result, the wizard's eyes begin to sparkle while the angel nods sagely before looking back at his companion.

To be honest, their frozen face makes him amused. Next time, they shouldn't dismiss something so easily. That should teach a lesson.

"N-n-n-n-n-n-no w-w-w-w-way!" stuttered the guide.

"Yond wast almost liketh reshiram's signature moveth…" mumbled the knight. Reshiram? He will look at it another time. Now, he has some friends to enlighten.

"And it was just compressing gas in the formula. If you are dedicated, you can do a lot more than that," he said. More than that?! The girls will never doubt the magic art ever then. The savior looks back toward their host, seeing her staring at him with stars in her eyes. It makes him giggle.

"As you guessed, I have knowledge about it. If you want, I can teach what I know," he said to her. Well, now she is glowing with how happy she is. He giggles again. "Well, we have to depart. But, I will come back with my knowledge another time." She comes back to reality.

"Then, let me walk you to the door," she said, still happy from her success.

The trio leaves the shop with the owner waving at them. Now, the guide leads them toward a more urban district.

"I would like to know something, lord Erpoejnel. Could magic strengthen somemon?" asked the grey mon.

"Yes, it can. You could use it for every situation you can get inside a dungeon if it is what you want to know," he replied. It seems he gives some inspiration to her. And his knight too, if cupping her chin is any indication. "Well, I think you were ready to explain about this district." The guide comes back to her sense.

"Yes, right now, we're walking in the houses' district. This is where all mons of the city lived," she explains. They are walking for twenty minutes already, taking the main street and the small ones. The savior maps all this in his head. They were about to go back to the guild however they hear a voice a distressed voice.

"Thief! Help!" They look toward the voice, seeing a mantis on the floor while a red bipedal lizard flees away with a bag.

"Miscreant!" yelled the dragon before giving pursuit.

"Wait Cynane!" yelled the guide, running after her. The angel decides to take the air.

The thief, a chameleon, runs with his reward, looking back to see if there are chasers. He has done it multiple times already, this is a children's game. But being in the city is dangerous. He can be caught at any moment. Why is he stealing then? Simple. For him, this world is too rotten to be saved. Only the strongest can survive, stealing from each other the limited resources they can get. For five years they waited for the 'savior'. What a joke. There is no savior! He heard from the mons that the 'savior' is in this city. Had they lost their minds? Well, he doesn't care, he needs to survive. After taking the next right street, he should be ok.

Unfortunately for him, the angel blocks the street when he lands. The sight of him shocks the lizard mon.

"Yo-you…" he stuttered. He doesn't understand the sight in front of him. This can't be the 'savior'? He doesn't exist! There is no time to think.

He tries to flee away. Keyword: tries. After all, when he turned around, the pure being caught him easily with a light whip. He can't do anything now, sit on the floor.

"Cometh backeth h're, mis-" tried to say the knight. But when she arrives, the thief was already caught by her lord. "Art thee good now, mine own l'rd?" She approaches him.

"Don't worry, he never tried to confront me," he replies back. They hear panting behind the blue mon. It is Blanche, hands on her knees.

"I said to wait, Cynane. You can't run like that," she said between pants.

"Well, s'rry but t wast behoveful as thee can seeth," the knight said, pointing at the thief. The guide raises her head seeing the thief captured.

"Then we should give back the stolen bag to its owner," said the furry mon. The other two nods with the pure being levitating the thief, so he can't run away. His companion raises their eyebrows at that. They go back to the owner but not seeing her at the last spot, they decide to look at the guild. And they were right. On the second floor, where missions are taken they can see the owner talking to Alessia.

"Your request has been registered. It will be put tomorrow on the mission board," Alessia said. The mantis is relieved that her goods will be retrieved.

"That will be not necessary," said the angel with the trio approaching the duo. The embrace mon is surprised to see them with the described thief.

"Here you go, ma'am," said the grey mon, giving back the bag.

"Oh thank you very much you three," said the owner, bowing to them.

"T isn't a problem, misseth Lurantis," said the dragon, shaking her head.

"Very well you three, I will contact sheriff Magnezone to arrest Charmeleon. You have now the rest of the day for yourself," said the gardevoir, smiling at them. The trio goes to their room, seeing there is nothing for them for now.

In their room, we can see the otherworlder writing in his journal at the desk, while the grey mon sorts their bag and the squost watches her lord writing.

"I shouldst very much buyeth a journal," the knight thought aloud. It makes the angel snickers a little at that.

"I don't know for you but I wasn't expecting to chase a thief today," said the guide still sorting.

"Yes, but considering how big is the city, you can't expect to not have this type of event. And with what we heard from the guildmaster, the guild can't afford to send too much on patrol for the city," the knight explained her opinion.

"Well, you're right." The guide sights with the knight nodding.

"Cynane, while I am preparing our training plan and writing my knowledge, I want you to meditate and work on your move," the angel ordered his knight. She raises an eyebrow at that order.

"Mine own l'rd?" she said confused. The angel turns toward her, seriousness on his face.

"Tomorrow will be where it begins to be serious. We will get our first mission. Even if this will be an easy one because we're rookies, I don't want to let it to chances. Everything can happen outside. We need to be prepared," he said with a stoic face. Her eyes widen for a moment before kneeling before him.

"Of course, mine own l'rd. I shall doth as thee sayeth," she said before sitting down on her bed or her meditation. The otherworlder look at the chinchilla, seeing her still sorting their bag. He nods to himself, knowing they will not lose time searching for an item. He turns back toward the desk, writing down their training plan and his knowledge about smithing and alchemy.

The rest of the evening wasn't so much eventful. They took dinner with the rest of the guild, discussing with them. After that, they decided to sleep for tomorrow.
