As explained in the last 11 chapters, ONE PIECE AIN'T MINE. I know, I know, it's sad but let's put it this way if the show did belong to me I wouldn't be writing this would I, and that would be a travesty. This may not be the best fanfic but I hope it at least becomes decent.

Ay, go read beast of the ocean! A friend of mine is writing it, constructive criticism is always helpful.

This chapter is in honor of Coby's choice, I wanted to try to write from Coby's perspective. Also I just really love that story. Allow me to introduce you to... Coby's path.

Responding to comments

Real Obito: Thanks, I hope my writing is up to par in the future. Though if I'm being honest it's gon take me awhile to get really good. Feel free to comment anytime, comments on two chapters in a row. That's an accomplishment. Also 'righting' I believe you were typing a bit fast sir.

Coby and the storage room.

Somewhere deep in the grandline, within a marine base that was always in a time of peace. It was a bright morning with the sun shining off the water beautifully.

A young boy with pink hair was laying down on his bed looking at the phone his mentor had got him. He seemed to be about 10 but was actually 16, recently he has been growing through rough training and was finally starting to fill out. On the phone was a video of a failed execution from the popular east blue seatuber by the name of Mr. East.

(Problems?? I thought of popular YouTubers, and Mr. Beast worked so well for this. Though his kind of content won't work for now, anyways y'all got a problem with Mr. Beast, well too bad. That man was a short part of my teenage years. Moving on…)

"Coby! For the last time, stop rewatching that video. It's time for training!" A man shouted.

"Aw…" Coby pouted. "It was just getting to the good part, besides all I do everyday is mop the floors!"

"Which is why, you'll be fine with doing it again today! Get to work!" He shouted.

"You're just sneaking off to go on another date anyways." Coby mumbled.

"I heard that! I'll offer you some real training when I get back, I really think this girl is the one." The man smiled.

"Come on Scor-sensei, we both know that's impossible. Why don't you just find someone on base?" Coby asked.

"You don't understand Coby! I'm a young man in the prime of my youth, I must go out and seek out as many women as possible in hopes of finding one meant for me." Scor explained.

"With your personality it's more likely that you'd attract two of the same girl!" Coby shouted.

Scor smirked. "Ohh, twins are nice."

Coby facepalmed. "Of course you'd say that."

"Don't be like that, how about I teach you the basics behind soru when I get back?" Scor offered.

"You already used that one, it's just kicking the floor ten times in a fraction of a second." Coby replied. "I'll see you later, Scor-sensei. Though by then it's likely to be night."

"You'll understand one day, women are a treasure. The goal of the game is to try to get as many as possible." Feathers wrapped around Scor, creating wings as he took flight. "Which one should I pick today? I'll head over to Sabaody, maybe I can find a cute pirate girl. Forbidden love, that could be fun."

Coby sighed. "Why am I always forced to do this? If only there was one other person around my age who could help." Coby complained. The base was massive and there were many around his age, however all of them were already doing weapon training.

"Coby!!" A man called.

"Ahh, head custodian. What do you need?" Coby asked.

"Your teacher got you cleaning again? They could use some help in the women's quarters. I would go myself but, you know how they get when I show up."

"Of course sir, I'll head over right away." Coby replied.

As Coby was walking down the halls he passed by a nurse who suddenly slipped scattering papers across the floor. "Ahh! I gotta hurry up, if I'm not back in time Kobato will get in trouble again."

Coby kneeled down and helped her pick up the papers. "You alright?"

"Thank you so much Coby, you're gonna make a great marine." She told him.

Coby smiled as she walked off. 'Maybe I can do it, I'll be the best marine around.'

"Oh, Coby. You're finally here. Take this mop and head over to the guest room. Apparently a new girl is joining and we need to get it cleaned up."

Coby sighed. 'Right, cleaning first. Training later.'

When Coby entered the guest room, his mouth dropped. To say the place was dirty was an understatement, at this point it was basically a storage room. There were boxes stacked on boxes and dust that covered the room like a blanket.

"How is one mop gonna fix all of this?!" Coby shouted. He threw the mop to the side and began.

While moving the boxes and cleaning the room the room began to smoke up. "*Cough* There's so much dust, I can't see anything!" He opened the door to let the dust clear out but accidentally fell, knocking one of the boxes over.

As he was picking up the items his hand slipped hitting a black metal bracelet. The item bounced away when all of a sudden everything went silent. There was no background ringing that you hear in your ears at all times, he couldn't even hear himself breathing.

He tried to speak but nothing would come out, his mouth was moving but for some reason no sound was being projected. He tried to think back when he remembered the bracelet. Coby scrambled over to the bracelet and put it on, he then began messing around with it until eventually sound had finally returned.

He breathed out heavily, happy to be able to hear again. "What the hell just happened?" He said aloud, mainly so he could hear his own voice. He wanted to figure it out but instead decided to think about it later, he had to finish cleaning.

The room had finally begun to look like a room, the dust had been cleared and the boxes were put away. Now you could see a bed and a desk that before was buried under all the boxes. "Alright! I'm done." Just as he was about to leave the room he fell over. "Huh? Why can't I move?" That's when he noticed how tired he was, all the heavy lifting had taken a toll on him. Within moments, he passed out.

Dining hall

A couple hours later Coby had woken up to the head janitor standing over him. "So, did you have a good nap?"

"Uhh, sorry about that. I-I was just a little tired." Coby stammered.

"Oh don't worry about it, you did a great job here. Head over to the dining hall and get some food."

Coby smiled. "Thanks!" He ran out the room and began walking towards the dining hall when he noticed the black bracelet still on his hand.

'What does this do anyways?' Coby thought. 'When It got hit away it made everything silent, I was dizzy and couldn't even hear my own breathing, the sound had been completely cut off. A complete silence.' He started to mess around with the bracelet as he entered the hall.

"Ahh! Coby, don't sneak up on me like that!" A girl yelled.

'Huh, what are you talking about?' Though he tried to say it out loud and he could hear himself perfectly fine, the girl couldn't hear a thing.

"What is this? Are you doing some kind of, try not to talk challenge?" The girl asked.

'No! I asked what you were talking about?' Yet again the girl apparently couldn't hear him.

"Well, alright. I'll see you later Coby, I gotta help with ship repairs today." The girl walked off.

Coby was confused until he stared at the bracelet and realized what happened. It apparently had the capability to make things silent. He fiddled with it some more and managed to turn it back to normal.

"Hey Coby, you know where that idiot Scor is at? I wanted to spar a bit and outside of vice, he's the strongest here."

"Vice?" Coby responded confused.

The man stared at him like he was stupid. "The vice admiral, It really isn't that hard to understand."

"Scor sensei, is out on another date again." Coby told him.

"I tried to tell vice that the idiot wouldn't be a good teacher. You're keeping up on your training by yourself right?"

"Huh? No, Scor sensei hasn't taught me anything."

"Idiot I swear, you can train on your own. This base is massive. You can go wherever you like, I know the weapons unit wouldn't mind helping you out a bit."

Coby stood there stunned for a second, he had never thought to train on his own. He assumed that he needed to listen to his teacher's instruction. Coby bowed. "Thanks lieutenant sir."

"Hey did you guys hear? Scor learned some Haki recently, they're thinking of moving him up to vice admiral pretty soon." A random marine said to the others in the dining hall.

The lieutenant who was talking to Coby turned around and slammed his foot on the table with a wide smile. "This calls for a celebration! One he won't be able to enjoy, but a celebration all the same."

"Oh come on, lieutenant. You just wanna party." One of the men said.

"Damn right! Let's go!" The man shouted. "Cheers!" He began to chug some booze.

"Oy, Coby! Come join us, take a shot of booze!" One of the men yelled.

Cony refused. "Um, I'm okay. I don't think I should drink at the moment."

From behind Coby, someone grabbed him and shoved a drink into his mouth. "Ahh! Don't be such a wuss Coby. Drink up, you're sixteen aren't you. That's old enough for a little bit of booze."

"This is the time for a little Oceans guide!" A man shouted.

"What? That song is a little too somber, don't you think?" Another asked.

Coby was confused. "What's, Oceans guide? Is it like Bink's brew?"

"You're right on the dot, it's bink's brew, for us marines." The man told him.

Coby hiccupped. Already drunk from the small bit of booze they forced onto him.

"The sea watches us quietly, guiding us through our death and our birth!" The men began to chant the words of the song.

"From humble hometown waters, to the waves at the end of the earth." The ladies decided to join in.

"The sea carries us carefully, through the dark of night and light of day,"

"to the world that's just and peaceful, so that we never lose our way."

"All our pain and suffering, it swallows up in its warm embrace,"

"So knowingly and gently, washes them all away."

"Turn it up guys!" Coby yelled, completely swayed into the excitement. "The sea watches us quietly, guiding us through our death and our birth!"

"From humble hometown waters, to the waves at the end of the earth!"

"All our pain and suffering, it swallows up in its warm embrace,"

"So knowingly and gently, washes them all away!"

"There will come a day, I'm sure, when I must heed its solemn call,"

"and walk side by side with my old friends, resting in its foamy waters!"

"We must advance towards the blue horizon!!" They all shouted in unison.

Food was being eaten, booze drunk on all sides. This place was always so peaceful and lacked excitement. Eventually the vice admiral caught wind of what was going on and burst through the doors. "How dare you… leave me out of such a fun occasion! The sea watches us quietly!"

Once more the party started anew. Coby in a drunken haze was just going along for the ride. "Sing it Coby!" The Vice admiral shouted.

Coby smiled. "From humble hometown waters, to the waves at the end of the earth!"

Eventually the party ended, the adults were all fine but Coby had passed out. He was the only younger one there, the rest were in training. "Hey, someone take him to the doctors headquarters. He's gonna need something for that hangover when he wakes up." The vice admiral ordered.

And so the celebration ended.

The date

Scor had taken off from the marine base though he was a bit hesitant to do so. 'I hope Coby hurries up and realizes that he needs to learn on his own before I can truly help him.' He thought to himself.

He had picked up this way of teaching long ago, it helped him continue his dates as well as teach a valuable lesson. 'In life, the only person you can truly rely on and fully trust is yourself. Asking for help is ok, but it's you that dictates the way your life goes.'

Flying above the ocean on the grandline was always a thrilling thing. People don't appreciate the weather because they all travel so slow, when you're flying at speeds upwards of 100 mph. Now that's nowhere near Kizaru, but he usually travels by boat so even he doesn't fully understand.

The beauty behind the grandline is that when flying at this speed you experience all of the seasons every few seconds. Also you don't have to worry about direction since you can see the path laid out before you. A moment later Scor flew over a low hanging sky island.

"Hey, Haredas! How's it going?!" Scor shouted.

Haredas waved back. "Hey there kid! Are you out for another date?!"

Scor smiled. "You know it!"

After a couple minutes Scor had finally made it to Sabaody. Almost immediately he had found a target. A beautiful brunette with red eyes and a pistol on her waist was walking around the island. She wore black leggings and a black crop top, the crop top showed the Jolly Roger of an up and coming crew. One that Scor recognized easily, though they were nowhere near Sabaody at the moment.

Scor landed on the ground as feathers fell from the sky in a trademark flashy entrance. "Hey there, could I take you on a date?" He asked smoothly?

(Yea question mark is on purpose, I ain't got much dating experience so I def wouldn't know. This shit doesn't even sound smooth to me, but this is all I got atm.)

"Umm… There's a guy I'm looking to find. He showed up here first when I saw him, so now I'm waiting for him. If you can help me afterwards, I don't mind a quick date." She replied.

Despite his lazy nature, Scor was a genuinely good person. He accepted the date as well as helping her in the end.

Scor proceeded to introduce himself. "So what's your name? I'm Scor by the way."

"Ash, I'm a pirate that's just starting out." She told him.

"So what are you here for?" Scor asked. "It's pretty dangerous for pirates to be here outside of the lawless zones."

"There's a guy I'm searching for. I wanna join his crew as an extra doctor, though I don't think he'll give me the time of day. He's kind of standoffish and laid back, I don't know how I would fit it. I get excited easily and I'm pretty reckless, I don't think he would like that." She explained

As the day went on the two went to sabaody park and spent some quality time together before going to a restaurant. After dinner the two began talking again.

"You wanna know what I do for a living?" Scor asked.

"Yea." The girl replied.

"I guess you could say, I'm a bit of a justice seeker." He replied smoothly.

"You're a marine?" Ash asked. "I'm sorry but, is this really the safest option for me? Like what if one of your friends show up?"

Scor sagged his shoulders. 'What's wrong with me wanting a cute pirate chick?' He thought to himself. "Yea I guess you're right, I'll tell you what you need to know."

Scor had left the restaurant and began flying around sabaody. "Why is it that every pirate I talk to has a problem with me being a marine?" He asked himself aloud.

As he flew around the island, he noticed another feathered friend of his. Though her feathers were partially real and not the manifestation of a devil fruit. He increased his speed until he eventually caught up. "Hey, little lady. It's nice to meet you." He greeted her.

"Um, who are you?" She asked.

"Oh come on, you know what they say. Birds of a feather…" He began.

The idea was immediately shot down. "Unfortunately I'm not a bird, what's your name?"

Scor laughed. "My name is Scor, the most charming man in the marines."

Bri apparently looked at him for a moment before coming to a decision. "That might be true, though that's because all the rest of them are annoying. Feather flight Scor, huh? What are you doing in sabaody?"

Scor decided to completely focus on the first part of the statement, so he didn't have to explain the part of him being turned away by a pirate. "Oh so you've heard of me? I see my reputation is greater than I thought it was."

Bri smirked. "Please, don't flatter yourself. My captain forces me to learn about anyone, pirate or marine that is similar to him."

"Similar to him? How?" Scor asked, confused.

"Your nature, you know what I'm talking about." She told him flatly. A mass of feathers flew from Scors body but were cut to pieces with a rain of blades. "Blade hunt!"

"For a blind girl, you're quite powerful." Scor commented.

"You should know, all we need is a little observation, then we can see just as well as any sighted person." Bri replied.

Scor flew backwards and snapped his fingers, conjuring a tornado of feathers. "Feather Flight!"

"This is pitiful." Bri swung her blade and the feathers fell to the floor. "I don't have any problems with you, Marine. I'm a bounty hunter, we're on the same side."

Scor laughed. "So that's who you are, you're as strong as they say. Beautiful golden hair and wings that glisten in the sun. You're Battle Angel Bri, the name fits."

Bri shrugged. "I always felt the name was a little childish."

Outdoor training

Hours after the party, Coby had finally woke up.

"Hey Coby, you might need this." The woman said as she handed him some water.

The moment Coby went to move his hand he felt a throbbing pain in his head. "Ahh! What happened? Why does my head hurt so much?"

"The others may have forced you to drink a little too much." She told him.

"Drink?!" Coby exclaimed. "But I'm too young!"

"Oh come on, you're sixteen. That's old enough." The woman replied.

"Old enough for who? A pirate?" Coby complained.

"Wow you complain a lot, anyways you're gonna need to be in bed for at least another hour. So try and get comfortable."

Coby sunk into the bed, pouting about the misfortune of being forced to drink. He was supposed to try training today, and now he can't for a whole hour. The worst part is that he didn't even remember the fun party that they apparently had.

As he laid there a girl had walked in, she was short with red hair.

(This arc with Coby is set a bit in the future, a day or so after the events of Little garden.)

"Oh so you're Coby, the others said you're the person to talk to about Scor." The girl said.

"Umm, yea. He's my teacher… kinda." Coby mumbled.

"Hmm, well he's supposed to lead us from now on. At least that's what I heard from the big guy they call the vice admiral." The girl said nonchalantly.

"Us?" Coby asked.

As of that moment a man walked in. He wore a long coat with shaded glasses and dark skin. "Hey there little man, names Gem. Me and the little missy here are going to be Marines starting today. That room you cleaned out earlier originally belonged to her until plans changed." Gem explained. "My powers are explosions, nuthin is more beautiful than explosions. It's almost like an art."

"My name is Marianne, though I usually go by Goldenweek. I'm the one that does actual art, I'm a painter whose abilities center around hypnotism. Though I look like a 10 year old, I'm actually 16. Nice to meet you." Though her words were normal the girl was unusually detached. No real emotion behind her words. Or maybe that's just how she was, some people are different.

"Right." Coby didn't know how to handle the two, one apparently loved explosions and the other just didn't make sense. "My name is Coby, a marine in training. I don't have any real powers at the moment, but I just discovered I could make things go quiet." He explained. "How exactly did you two become marines?"

Gem decided to answer that one. "We met a cool little group of people, after getting our asses kicked they gave us money to buy out of this assassination thing. We were transferred here shortly after, we're meant to be under the new vice admiral Scor. Though they say he's out on a date somewhere."

Coby nodded slowly. All this information had done no favors to his headache. Goldenweek walked up to him and painted something on his forehead. "Colors trap. Calming green." She drawled. "There, the headache is better right?"

Coby moved around, no longer feeling the headache. "This is great! What did you do?!" He asked excitedly.

"That's the effects of my hypnotism. I used it to soothe the pain of the headache. Can you take us somewhere now?" She asked. "It'd be nice to start training, I don't like the fact that I was beaten by an animal."

Coby just ignored the part about losing to an animal and took them outside. "As of now I don't want to train with the other squads. We'll head out into the forest that borders the base."

"Sounds good to me." Gem responded. Goldenweek just nodded.

Once they entered the forest, Coby turned to the others. "So what kind of training should we do?" He asked.

"Well since it's a circle of trees, how about we run around the island until we're back over here?" Goldenweek suggested.

Gem smirked. "While we're at it. We can make it a race."

"How is that fair? You're far more athletic than us two kids!" Coby shouted.

Goldenweek stared blankly at him. "I prefer to be called a teen. I've had enough of the whole kid thing."

Coby nodded, sweating a little at the weirdness of the group. "Alright fine, we'll go on my mark."

"Go!" Gem shouted as Goldenweek ran off. "Come on little man, ain't no countdowns in real life."

"Wait, hold on!" Coby shouted as he began running after the red headed girl. Despite the head start Coby had managed to catch up with her fairly quickly. "Um, are you alright? We just started, you can't possibly be this tired already."

"I didn't even get my own teacups before." She breathed out. "I've never had to run this much, I'm only doing it now because I refuse to lose to a dumb animal again!"

Coby once again just ignored that and began to run ahead. 30 minutes later. Coby sighed as he finally made it to the halfway point. He never really understood how big the island actually was until now. "Whose idea was it to run around the island again? We could've just ran a few kilometers or so but no, we just had to run around the entire island."

At that point Gem appeared behind him. Breathing heavily but not quite as tired out as Coby was. "Yea! This isn't exactly easy. I'm surprised you haven't passed out yet. Goldenweek is probably back there taking a break, despite the fact that she suggested it."

Coby nodded along. "If it wasn't for me cleaning and doing a lot of work everyday, I'd be dead by now."

At that moment Goldenweek peaked out from over Gem's back. "Oh come on, it isn't that hard. Stop complaining you can't be that weak." She mumbled.

The two boys jumped and turned around to look at her. "When the hell did you get here?!" They asked in unison.

Goldenweek looked at them with a bit of amusement hidden behind her impassive stare. "Colors trap. Friendship White. I made Gem pick me up and carry me, though all without him noticing." She explained.

Gem was staring at her confused. "I thought you could only use that to make people like you. When did that include blindly following orders?"

Goldenweek seemed to laugh at that, though all that came out was humming. "That was before when the color of friendship was yellow/green, with white there's a whole new spectrum of meanings. Drawing a blank or forgetting, as well as obedience." She explained.

(This could easily be seen as wrong, let's just interpret it the way that I meant it. Moving on.)

Coby was interested in learning more about her abilities but before he could he stopped running. "Alright you need to get off. Run the rest of the way yourself." He ordered.

Goldenweek slid off Gem's back. "Fine… I'll try." She drawled.

Coby ran ahead once more. 45 minutes later. He had finally finished the lap around the island. He took a seat against a tree waiting for the others, Gem was probably taking his time and it'd take another hour for Goldenweek to get there. While he was here he began to kick the tree, in hopes of tempering his body.

After a while of kicking the tree he noticed that some plums had fallen from it. Deciding to take a break he began to eat them rapidly. Eventually he had decided to stuff the rest in his mouth before immediately spitting them back out. Among the plums was a white fruit with black lines that looked like the hands of a clock. He began to panic. "No! No! No! Maybe it won't affect me, I've always valued my swimming ability. Besides it was only half eaten, it's not like it would do anything."

"Sorry to tell you, but even a bite from a devil fruit will give you its powers." Gem said as he walked up. "Goldenweek ate one too."

15 minutes earlier. Gem and Goldenweek were jogging side by side. "Hey…" Goldenweek whined. "Why can't you just carry me the rest of the way?"

"Oh come on, it's only 1 more kilometer away. You can jog that easily." Gem responded.

Goldenweek took a seat up against a tree. "Nope, I'll wait here. You guys can come get me later."

"You really aren't gonna run?" Gem asked.

"Fine, fine, let me just get something to eat real quick." She replied lazily.

Gem smirked. "What is there to eat in this forest? Are you gonna eat the grass?"

Goldenweek looked around for a bit, before spotting an apple tree and walking up to it. "I'll find the best apple on this tree." She declared. Within moments she had spotted an apple. "That apple right there." She pointed. "It looks so tasty, and it's so red. Like it came out of a painting."

Gem looked up, seeing it on the uppermost branches. "I hope you don't expect me to get it."

"No, I'll climb the tree myself. How do I know you don't want it for yourself?" She began to scramble up the tree, nearly slipping here and there but she eventually made it. "Got it!" She shouted, showing real enthusiasm for once.

She jumped down from the tree observing the apple in awe. That's when Gem noticed something about it. "Hold on, don't eat that!" He warned.

"Shut up." Goldenweektold him, though the lack of interest had returned. As she took a bite of the fruit, the only thing she tasted was a mouth full of paint.

She immediately spit it out. "I tried to tell you, if you look closer. That isn't the sun shining off of the apple, that spot is actually white."

"What is it?" She asked him.

"Well… what did it taste like?"

"Like a mouthful of paint, I love the stuff, but not to the point that I want to eat it." She complained.

Gem nodded slowly. "Hmmm… it's rather strange. If it was a devil fruit it wouldn't taste like paint, it usually just tastes awful. Then again I've only ever eaten one, so maybe it's different for everyone. Based on the nature of the taste, we should assume its abilities are centered around paint."

Goldenweek set down her palette and brush and began to concentrate on the idea of paint. Suddenly her hands turned white and began to drip to the floor painting the area in one color. "It worked. Though I'm kinda disappointed, I can't change the color no matter how much I want to."

Gem gestures to her palette. "Try placing your paint into those and see if you can absorb the colors and make them your own."

She complied, completely absorbing the paint. Leaving only the brown tray and her brush. She decided to keep the brush as a memento, but she threw the brown tray away.

"Alright come on, we have to catch up to that Coby boy." Gem ordered. "We gotta make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."

Present time. "Turns out, like her you did do something stupid. With the vice admiral also being a devil fruit user, we don't have anyone to save us if we fall in the water." Gem finished.

Goldenweek walked up to Coby, inspecting him from all angles. "So, what can you do?"

Coby shrugged. "No idea, I was thinking of going to the library. They should have a devil fruit encyclopedia, we can search for the details of our fruit in depth and maybe learn more about them."

"As long as there isn't anything better to do, I'm down." Goldenweek eplied.

"I'll have to figure out more about my fruit eventually." Gem followed.

Nicknames?

Twenty minutes later, in the library. "Excuse me, do you mind if I borrow the devil fruit encyclopedia?" Coby asked the woman.

"Ah, Coby. It's nice to see you again, are you curious about getting a devil fruit of your own? You know that the book is only allowed to vice admirals and above, however I'd be willing to allow you to read it if you give me a good reason." The woman told him.

Coby decided to tell the truth, after all it's the only logical reason besides being curious, but that could be seen as greed. "Well, I accidentally ate a devil fruit and I'd like to know more about it. So that I don't accidentally put everyone in danger." He explained.

The woman laughed. "It's a rite of passage to find out the meaning of your devil fruit on your own." She said as she summoned a small fox. "My fruit is the summon summon fruit, it allows me to summon any animal I befriend. Unfortunately I can't use it for combat, it's not like I can talk to animals."

"Yea, but what if it's really dangerous and destroys the base or it's a fruit related to death. I don't think it'd be a good idea to try and test it without knowing." Coby explained.

"That's a good point, you may go. Though these two have to give me an explanation as well."

Goldenweek looked up to the woman and smiled sweetly. "I ate a devil fruit but I pretty much understand the abilities. It's a logia paint based fruit. I just want to see what Coby finds out."

"Yes of course, dear. Please go on." The woman replied.

"You're evil." Coby whispered to her. Goldenweek held up a peace sign and walked ahead into the back room.

(I'm aware that man made things can't be considered logias, which is why Katakuri became a paramecia in the end. The only reason I allowed a paint logia is because a character from one of the games I used to play is a man made logia type. Though what game that is, y'all have to wait to find out. Now back to the story.)

"What about you?" The lady asked Gem.

"I want to use this opportunity to become a better marine. I was an assassin before but I want to become stronger to help protect the people I once would've killed. I want to see how others before me have used my fruit." He explained.

"A noble reason, please be my guest." The woman stepped to the side letting Gem pass as they all entered the room.

Unlike the outside, this room only held one book. In the center of the room on an altar laid the devil fruit encyclopedia. Goldenweek was in the middle of flipping through it. "Hey guys, look. I found my devil fruit."

Devil fruit: Paint Paint fruit

A logia based fruit that gives the user the ability to manipulate and turn into paint. By coming into contact with other colors you can change the color of your own paint, making the user a paint human. Paradise is an easy venture with any logia fruit, though how the hell are you gonna use paint in new world?

After hearing the explanation, Gem smirked. "Honestly, this is a devil fruit only you can use. There's no one in the world that weaponizes paint as well as you do. Any other person and it'd just be another logia doing logia based things."

Gem flipped through the pages a bit before coming across his own devil fruit. "Found it!"

Devil fruit: Bomb bomb fruit

'A Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to make any part of their body explode, whether it be their limbs, hair, mucus, or even breath, making the user a Bomb Human. Honestly though, any idiot who uses this in ranged combat is an idiot. This is a fruit perfect for martial arts and blowing people up point blank, maybe master the fruit before using it at range. Fucking dumbass!'

Coby began to laugh though he tried to keep it in as much as possible. "I'm starting to think the person who wrote this explanation has a vendetta against me." Gem growled, passing the book to Coby.

Coby flipped through the pages coming across an ability that seemed familiar.

Devil fruit: Calm Calm fruit

'This is a Paramecia-class Devil Fruit that allows the user to create a soundproof field and to cancel all noises, making the user a Soundless Human. Honestly I would never eat this fruit personally, I mean yea being an assassin with this ability would be nice, but it's not like you gain that much of an advantage.'

"So that's where the ability of this bracelet comes from. It must've somehow come into contact with it and the juices seeped inside causing a devil fruit item." Coby said aloud as he flipped through the book some more, eventually finding the white fruit with that he ate.

Devil fruit: Time Time fruit

'This is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to send themselves and others forward in time, making the user a time skipping human. There isn't much known about this fruit since there was only one user, after skipping into the future she eventually died and the fruit returned to circulation. Though when you think about it, what fucking use is there to going into the future. There's nothing to change and if you can't go back there's nothing to gain.'

Coby sighed. "What exactly would I use this for anyways. I got two non-combatant devil fruits, I'll have to learn to use them in the best way."

At that moment the librarian walked in. "Well, you could try the weapons unit. They offer training with any weapon outside of hand to hand, maybe get yourself something more towards assassin work." She smiled. "I can see it now, Marine Assassin Coby."

"Wait, were you listening in that entire time?" Goldenweek asked dryly. The woman nodded.

"On to a more important topic." Coby interrupted. "Marine Assassin makes it sound like I'm assassinating marines. It's a terrible name. How about Silent knight?"

"That's nice and all, but I feel we should use a name that really brings out your personality. Maybe, Coby the nervous killer?" Gem suggested.

"Nah, that's too murderous." The librarian cut in. "Let's go with Phantom fist."

"Okay can you guys shut up." Goldenweek yawned. "I don't see how having a nice name is more important than what we were talking about but can we just move on?"

"Huh?!" The three shouted in unison.

"Having a cool name is the pride and joy of any warrior!" Coby shouted.

"Obtaining a name is like getting married. It usually only happens once in life!" The librarian followed.

"You wouldn't understand the humiliation that comes with a weak name like 'Gem of the border.' You got a nice name, flag bearer of freedom, so I don't want to hear about how unimportant it is!" Gem finished.

"Well, just change it." Goldenweek responded. "Maybe go with Ground Zero. The point on the earth's surface where an explosion occurred."

"That's a cool name, but definitely not a title." Gem sighed. "I guess I can use it as a name for one of my moves."

"Right, now that that's settled. Let's get moving to this weapons unit place." Goldenweek said as she marched off.

Oh shit, there's a weapon unit?

Coby had finally made it to the weapons unit. "Hey Coby!" A man shouted. "You finally made it! Sorry for earlier by the way, I don't think it was nice of us to force you to drink."

"It's alright." Coby bowed. "Though I'm a bit mad that I don't remember the party itself."

"Oh that, yea we got a video of it on one of these phone things. They're really weird, I'm just gonna stick to a good old fashioned snail."

One of the snails in the corner of the room sighed. 'Looks like I won't be released anytime soon. Become a transponder snail they said, you'll find a nice snail girlfriend they said! Oh well, I guess I'll just continue my job here until the day I retire.'

"You don't mind if I watch the video later, do you?" Coby asked.

"Of course, moving on, you're here for training right? I see you brought your squad with you. We'll teach you all we can for this last day!" The man vowed.

"Wait, last day?" Coby asked.

"Scor is becoming a Vice admiral, he will have to leave the base and since you're part of the squad then you'll go with him." The man explained.

Coby looked at the man sadly before straightening his posture. "Please teach me all that you can!"

The man smiled at Coby. "Any weapons you would like to try?"

"Well, how about something related to assassination. The librarian said it would work for the abilities I've gained through the devil fruits I've accidentally eaten." Coby explained.

"How do you accidentally eat a devil fruit, I could never eat one myself. I wouldn't want to be a living anchor. Anyways we could always try some daggers, the vice admiral just received the new seastone weaponry. There was a pair of daggers as well, we'll start you off with some normal ones but I don't think he would mind helping you after you left."

"Um, thanks. Let's go with that." Coby replied.

"What about you two?" The man asked the two standing behind Coby.

"I don't need any weapons." Goldenweek answered.

"Actually, I ain't looking for no weapons either. I've been told that I rely on them too much. We'll just be here to watch Coby." Gem responded.

The man tossed some blades to Coby. "Alright, lesson one. Dodge!" He shouted as he rushed at Coby punching him across the field.

Coby scrambled to his feet. "Wait hold on…" Suddenly he was interrupted by a kick that sent him flying into the wall. 'Alright, all I have to do is-'

"Dodge!" The man shouted, punching him once more.

Coby staggered to his feet holding up the blades. He rushed in trying to slice the man but he dodged. "See pretty simple, all you have to do is dodge!"

This time he was knocked to the floor and for the next thirty minutes he was forced to endure the training until eventually he managed to dodge. "Good job Coby, next you'll be fighting my top student. You will keep fighting until you win." The man told him.

"Hey Coby." The girl greeted. "Sorry in advance."

The girl pulled a sword from her sheathe and dashed at Coby. The two clashed but the girl quickly overpowered him causing him to lose his balance as she cut his cheek.

The girl smirked. "You're stronger than you used to be but you have no technique. Stand up!" The girl ordered.

Coby stood up and settled into a stance. "What now?"

"Attack me!" She commanded. Coby ran at her but she dodged the tip of his blade and hit his chest with the hilt of the blade. "Keep your back straight!" Coby followed and tried again but this time she hit his knee. "Bend your knees more on the lunge!" After the next attack she tripped him. "Don't run so heavily, stay on your toes. You're wasting time by putting your foot down all the way." This time Coby finally managed to get off a decent attack. Though she simply blocked it. "Alright now that you got the basics I'm going to take it up a notch."

Coby ran at her with a slash to the neck, it nearly connected but the girl ducked and countered with a sweep of his legs causing him to go rolling across the field. "Move with more grace, don't be so predictable. You're doing well but you're movements aren't rough, if there's one thing I learned it's that in battle you should always trust your instincts first and use your thoughts later." She instructed.

Coby smiled. "Got it!" He rushed forward and aimed a diagonal slash to her torso, she dodged to the side and went to slash Coby across the back. Coby ducked using his shorter height to his advantage as he slashed her on her stomach.

The girl hit his hand with the hilt of her blade, causing him to drop one of the daggers. She took the opportunity to cut his chest leaving him bleeding from the deep wound.

"You're doing good, I heard you obtained some abilities after eating a devil fruit. Try using them." She told him.

Coby fiddled with the bracelet as his movements became silent. "Calm!" He whispered as he began to pick up speed.

Without the sound of his footsteps in her ears the girl began to have a little more trouble but nothing she couldn't handle.

Coby followed up almost immediately. "Complete silence!" A loud pop rang in the girl's ears and suddenly she couldn't hear a thing. Her thoughts became scrambled and she couldn't react to anything that was going on. She grew dizzy until she felt a slash on her arm. The pain allowed her to refocus and continue the fight.

As the barrier of silence faded away Coby was left panting. Both of them were heavily fatigued from the fight. Coby decided that now was the time to test his actual devil fruit.

Back to the future.

Coby went deep into his head and tried to focus on the idea of time. Eventually he was tossed into an alternate dimension. All around him time passed by in a slowed motion as it went forward, he saw the others react to his disappearance before suddenly passing out.

As he awoke he was greeted by a man. "It seems I really did end up in the future, I should probably help myself get back." The man said.

"Um, who are you?" Coby asked.

"Me? I'm you from a hundred years in the future." The older Coby replied. "I'm here to help you get back, my father in law still has some use for you."

"Wait! Father in law?!" Coby shouted. "Does that mean I'm married, wait is this gonna cause a time paradox and mess everything up?"

The older Coby laughed. "Oh don't worry about that. It's impossible to resist the charm of the girl we marry, no matter what you try to do. You'll still end up with her in the end."

Coby looked a bit down at the sound of that. "I don't know how I feel about this whole, future has been decided for me thing."

The older Coby just laughed again. "The future isn't decided for you in the least. The life you lead will be different than my own. I decided to accept my father in law's invitation to join him. I don't expect you to do the same. You'll forge your own path, eventually you'll become a man even stronger than me."

"You said you'll take me back?" Coby confirmed. "How will you do that? The time fruit only allows you to travel forward."

"I'll take you to meet my wife, she has the ability to rewind time. She'll help you get back to where you need to be." Koby told him.

(Older Coby=Koby. Coby=Our Coby)

"Ok." Coby said enthusiastically, he didn't want to stay in this world where another version of himself still exists.

"Alright follow me." Koby said as he began to jog off in a certain direction.

As Coby followed after him he noticed his surroundings change, at one point he was traversing through space. All around was darkness, he had walked next to multiple stars and didn't burn to death. He looked up to Koby and saw a barrier that covered him. "Where are we going? Why are we able to travel through space?"

Koby laughed. "A curious one aren't you? I set up a barrier of energy around you to protect you and allow you to breathe, I'm a whole lot stronger than anyone you know. We're heading to a neighboring universe, the one where I live currently with my wife."

Coby began looking around, seeing planets and the gods of those planets. Suddenly the scenery changed and he could see a planet directly in front of him. "We're here!" Koby announced.

Coby followed after him as they made their way down to the surface, the world they landed in was very confusing. It seemed prehistoric but had technology that wasn't possible in this time, everything around them was all one. Not a mass of islands like the world he was used to.

"What is this place?" Coby asked.

"It's as I've told you, this is the planet I currently live on. It's called earth, though it's a different version of it. I won't tell you too much, it'd spoil the fun when you see it for yourself." Koby explained.

Coby looked up seeing a black haired man flying across the sky, landing in front of the two. "Hey Koby, where'd you run off to? Who's this? Wait, is this the past you? He looks so small."

"Wait, Gem?" Coby asked.

"Oh, so you know me? It's nice to see you all small again. Anyways Koby, the Captain is calling for you." Gem said.

Koby sighed. "Damn, I just got back. Hopefully he doesn't need me to speed up his plants again, I'm getting tired of having to help him with that." Koby picked up Coby and floated up into the sky. "Get ready." Koby cautioned.

(Remember, K is the older one. Moving on.)

"Wait, I can fly?!" Coby shouted. "How can I-" All of a sudden the speed picked up and the two were blasted through the sky, in mere seconds Koby dropped to the floor and put Coby down.

"Well we're here." Koby walked through the door. "Hey Scor!! You called?!!" He shouted.

From the entrance came two women. One with black hair and the other with white hair. They were perfectly identical outside of that. "Hey Koby, nice to see you here." They greeted, simultaneously.

"No way!" Coby gasped. "They're twins!"

"These two are the two wives of Scor. They're powerful fighters, on the same level as Marianne. Though you probably still call her Goldenweek." Koby introduced.

A moment later Scor came out the doors. The Scor Coby knew, had white hair and a white fur coat. This one though was the complete opposite, he had black hair and his coat was exchanged for strange battle armor. His eyes were different as well, they were black with red pupils. Giving an almost demonic look. "Hey Koby, take this to your wife and have her reverse it back in time a bit." Scor tossed him a broken watch. "It broke down on me."

Koby sighed once more. "You should stop treating us like tools, please stick to calling me when there's someone you need me to fight."

Scor laughed. "There isn't anyone to fight, all of them are too afraid nowadays. Scared that the new King will kill them for causing a disturbance."

"Yea of course." Koby waved before grabbing the boy next to him and rocketing off once more. A second later they were in front of a small house on a small island. "Hey babe, help me send this kid back. I didn't think he would actually show up like I did before."

As the two Coby's walked inside. A woman with bluish-grey hair stepped out from a room. She had shining red eyes and glistening skin. "So he did show up? You said you want me to seal his ability right?"

Koby walked over to a nearby couch and sat down. "Yea send him back, limit his ability to skip time. One second is all he'll need, keep it the same conditions as mine. He won't be able to go into the future without having contact with you."

"Alright." The woman yawned. "Here, take this with you." She threw a book to Coby.

"What is it?" Coby asked.

"It's a book on a technique called time skip, it should help you come up with abilities centered around that one second you can use. Though these are the techniques that Koby made, I would prefer for you to change them." She explained.

Coby flipped through the pages. "These are based around kicking techniques, I use blades." Coby explained.

"It seems the past has already changed." Koby smiled.

"When you get back, you'll be at the same point as when you left. But this time you won't be able to skip this far, make sure to use this book wisely. Oh and remember, when you meet me. Please explain things properly, this version of you is a horrible teacher." The woman snapped her fingers and suddenly Coby was back in front of the girl he was tasked with beating.

'The technique was called time skip right? I call this move,' "Phantom stride!" Coby shouted as he faded into an alternate dimension for only a second before reappearing in front of the girl and knocking the blade from her hands.

(We are making Coby extremely relevant in the story, apologies if the Koby and Coby thing was confusing but I had to distinguish between the two. It would've gotten annoying having to say the older Coby all the time. Y'all got a brief look into an alternate future, how much of that is true and how much will be thrown away. Anyways back to the story.)

Coby stood panting heavily, finally winning the match that for him took well over a couple hours. That trip to the future had left him mentally exhausted. Gem walked up patting him on the back.

"You did quite good, honestly it's sad but you're better than I am with weapons." He praised.

The lieutenant took a step forward. "How about you guys head over to the martial arts unit, they may be able to help y'all out with something."

"Sounds good." Coby breathed out. "Just let me rest here awhile longer."

Later at the Martial arts unit. Gem was taught the basics of martial arts and given advice on techniques that could work well with his explosions. Goldenweek was advised on Logia basics and was offered techniques on preserving energy so she wouldn't tire out as quickly.

Soon the sun dipped behind the horizon and the moon rose into the sky. The flap of wings could be heard as Scor landed back in the base. "Scor sir! The vice admiral asked to see you the second you've returned."

Scor looked up to the main building and smiled. "What does that old man need from me now?" A second later he vanished in a flurry of feathers.

Vice admiral's office. "Hey Vice, what you need?" Scor asked.

"Please, Just call me Johnathan. From this day forward, me and you are equals." He told him.

"Wait a minute, so that whole thing about me becoming a vice admiral was serious?" Scor asked.

"Of course it was. Here's your coat." Jonathan handed him the white coat that all vice admirals were usually seen wearing.

Scor bowed though it was clear he was a bit apprehensive. "Do I really have to take this position? It's so much work, and besides what am I supposed to do?"

"You're meant to go out and find your place in the marines. Noiro recommended it to you himself." Johnathan explained.

"Admiral Noiro? Why did he recommend me?" Scor asked.

"He said that your abilities are a lot like his, he believed that you needed to be in a harsher environment to grow. You'll be given a squad, we want you to train them up properly and take down pirates that you meet along your way. I expect you to surpass me in two years."

"A squad? Wait is Coby coming along as well, I'd like to actually teach him."

"Everyone you can come in now!" Johnathan shouted.

At his command the door opened and in walked the three new members of the marines. "So should I call you Captain or vice?" Gem asked.

"Um, Scor sensei, I may have eaten a devil fruit while you were away. Is there any way you can help me come up with moves to go along with them? I'd also like to start learning the six powers." Coby added in.

"Hey." Goldenweek greeted dryly.

"So these are the people I'm meant to teach, well alright. I'll accept the position." Scor announced. Coby was gifted the seastone blades as well.

Later on that day, the small group was given a ship and escorted out of the marine base.

"Where do we go first?" Coby asked.

"I heard a certain group of pirates have beaten a warlord and invited him to the crew, we're gonna have to go after them first." Scor told them.

(Don't worry, Crocodile is not joining the strawhats. That would be weird.)

Cony began to panic. "Wait, is anyone here a proper navigator?"

Scor laughed. "I'll just fly above the ship and scout out the surroundings, I'm better than any log post you can find."

And they all lived happily ever after, nah I'm kidding. We'll come back to Coby and his adventures sooner or later, the next 6 chapter special will be an interesting one.

Coby? Vs. Writer

Coby fell into a random room on top of a small bed. Across from him on a couch was a guy, around 18 or 19.

Writer: Hey, it's nice to meet you Coby.

Coby: Huh?! Where am I? Who are you?!

Writer: This is my room, people tend to teleport in from time to time when I'm writing. Would you like to have a quick chat?

Coby: Um... Sure, but first answer me, who are you?

Writer: Oh right, I'm the creator of the world you're currently in.

Coby: Does that make you our god?

Writer: No of course not, the gods influence my writing so everything I write has to be accepted by them before I can form it as a thought.

Coby: I'm assuming you're religious?

Writer: God no, not to level you seem to imagine. I believe in god not his teachings, but I take a keen interest in gods of other folklore. The stories behind them are all very interesting. That's the main point behind this story, to introduce a few gods to the one piece setting.

Coby: Wait so the gods took over the world?!

Writer: Nah, I had to leave a few out unfortunately. One god that I love won't get to join.

Coby: Who's that?

Writer: The Norse god Loki, the original stories of him are so fascinating. The father of Jormungandr the world serpent, as well as Fenrir, Sleipnir, and even hel. He really did not discriminate when it came to sex partners.

Coby: Don't you think that's a little inappropriate to be saying.

Writer: Oh please, you're sixteen it's fine. Not like you'll participate in that anytime soon, just think of it as a story for now.

Coby: I have a question, when's the next time I show up?

Writer: If all goes as planned, I got you appearing in chapter 24. Next chapter, Truly a mystery!

Coby: How exactly do I get back home? I'd rather not be stuck in another strange universe.

Writer: Honestly I don't know, they usually just disappear randomly.

Coby: *poof*

Writer: And now he's gone. Well for the folks reading this, I apologize if the end was a little rushed. I ran out of material, it's hard not writing based on the story. Don't forget to follow or favorite, whichever one lets you see me a bit faster. Until next time, yours truly, LazyLimits. We could go by limits as well.

End note: If anyone who reads this is in to video games, leave a comment we can play some time. I'm on Xbox, but if y'all on that overwatch 2, then hit me up.
