Following the omega to make sure that she got home, safely, was a bit of a trip for Yusuke. Partially since those ne'er do well's that he had been concerned about before- seemed awful friendly with her.

He had already watched a handful of interactions between said people and the girl, and yeah, it was trippy to see how they called out greetings to her, waved at her in a friendly manner, and in a few cases- some of them had disengaged from their packs to run up to her and get hugs.

Hugs, for Christ's sake!

As if any of them weren't carrying weapons or drugs or whatever else they were into.

And then there was the real kicker of it all. The omega let them hug her and talk with her for a few moments before waving goodbye to them.

Needless to say, Yusuke wasn't sure what the hell was going on. But he did know some of the assholes in those groups and packs, and they weren't very nice people at all. Some of them were stone cold killers! All of which were hardly the type of people that any omega should be around, period.

Yet despite seeing the interactions and fighting against every protective instinct that he possessed to grab her and run- nothing happened. Which was...definitely odd to him. But not so much that he was willing to strain his brain trying to figure things out.

Instead, he kept following her at a discreet distance. Making sure that he stayed downwind of her since she'd likely be able to smell him and would likely recognize his scent and know that he was following her.

He was incredibly happy once she finally seemed to reach her home and went inside. And even though she was finally indoors and safe...Yusuke for some ungodly reason couldn't seem to tear himself away from the omega's home.

He couldn't help it.

Between seeing her kick some serious ass back at the restaurant and then giving out hugs to people- Alpha's that tended to be on the other side of anything remotely lawful... So, of course, his curiosity was really starting to get the best of him.

Especially since he hadn't seen any sign of anyone greeting her at the door to check on her since that was what packs or Alpha's usually did.

Which is why he stuck around until...two a.m.

The lights had gone out about an hour or so before then, indicating that she'd gone to bed for the night. Giving him a chance to spend a little bit of time waiting for her to sleep a bit deeper while making a plan of sorts.

His curiosity wasn't going to let him leave until he checked the house out for any signs of a pack or Alpha since the girl- despite her delightfully violent tendencies- was going to be easy pickings without them.

And as an Alpha, didn't he have a responsibility to make sure that an omega was safe and protected?

He managed to push the fact that she scared the bejesus out of him to the back of his mind as he stealthily moved around her home to see if he could find a way inside. He found a window that would work great for him and used a neat little trick that Kurama had shown him to get inside.

After that, he spent a few minutes checking the place out.

The inside of the house reminded him of before Hiei moved in with Kurama. It was sterile. Lacking in any visible personal effects. There were no pictures, nothing feminine or flowery to let him know that an omega was even present in the home.

It was infuriating to him to say the least. Especially since he'd noted that even the furniture was lacking in any character or personal touch from the girl!

But it was the bedrooms- devoid of any living presence at all- that broke his heart.

So far, he'd seen absolutely no traces of an Alpha or pack anywhere within the home. Not only that but the place was seriously lacking in certain creature comforts that omegas needed to thrive. There was no soft blankets and no cushions or pillows for nesting.

Hell, the girl hadn't even bothered to sleep in a bed! He'd nearly tripped over her a little while ago when he'd found her curled up on one of the bedroom floors, sleeping.

Finding her like that had unnatural and had been the last straw for him. He silently made his way back through the house and slipped out the same way that he'd come in, making sure to relock the window behind him.

After that, he'd pulled a pocket knife out of his pants pocket and used it to cut one of his hands. Once he was done letting a good amount of blood collect in his palm, he spent the next few minutes going from one corner of the outside of her home to another, smearing his blood on the bricks in hopes that the smell would keep other Alphas at bay.

At least until he could come up with a more permanent solution to the current problem.

Who in their right mind would take on an omega that could beat the hell out of Alpha's?
