Tobias's POV:
"Are you sure, Tris? I don't want you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. Work can always wait." I say to her, who is adamant on going back to work.
It has been 2 days since that incident. Tris is doing okay. She sometimes jumps when she doesn't know I'm around and I touch her. I try to make my presence known immediately when I enter a room she's in. But she still gets startled.
I am trying my best to be as patient and gentle with her as I can. She deserves nothing less. I just wish I could make it better. My wife is the strongest person I know. But I still want to take care of her and protect her.
"I'm sure, Tobias." She says, her eyes looking straight into mine with intensity.
"I don't mean to coddle you, love. I'm sorry." I apologise. I just don't want her to go back there and relive what happened. But I know I can't keep her home forever.
Tris walks over to me and embraces me. I hold her close and kiss her head. "I know. And I understand where you're coming from. But I need to continue living my life. I'm not gonna let this destroy me, let him destroy me." She whispers into my chest.
"I'm proud of you, Tris. Just promise me that you'll let me know if it ever gets too overwhelming. Okay?" I caress her hair.
"Okay, I promise." She looks up and smiles at me. I return her smile and lean down to kiss her. The kiss is soft and gentle but full of love.
We get our things and walk out, locking the door behind us. In the car, I hold Tris's hand all the way to the office, squeezing it often. When we reach, I feel her tense up, but she shakes it off and gets out of the car.
I hold her hand tightly in mine in the elevator. When we reach our floor, Tris quickly pulls me towards the direction of our offices, avoiding looking the other way.
Tris walks me into her office and I close the door behind us. Without saying a word, I pull her into my arms and hug her close. Her shallow breaths slowly become deeper as she holds onto me.
"Tris, is it okay if I work from your office today?" I ask her hesitantly, not wanting to crowd her. But I want to stay close to her at all times.
"Yes. I would like that." She says, her head still buried in my chest. "I'm scared, Tobias. And anxious. I don't know how to describe this feeling. It's the worst."
"I'm here with you, love. I know I can't do much to make it go away, but I'm going to make sure you get through this day with a smile on your beautiful face."
"I love you so much." Tris says, looking up, with a small smile.
"There's my girl. I love you, too." I lean down and kiss her deeply.
We begin our work, focusing on the project, speaking occasionally. It's so easy being with Tris. We never have to fill in the silence, we just are comfortable with each other's presence. She randomly asks me something and I answer her.
I used to think I would never find someone who I could be calm around. Someone who I would want with me at all times. Because I have always been alone, away from people. But Tris is like air to me. If she's not around, I can't breathe. She is my person.
"What?" She asks when she catches me staring at her. I see her cheeks turn red.
"Nothing, just admiring how fine my wife looks today." I say with a wink.
She blushes more and bites her lip, making me go crazy. I roll my chair closer to hers and cup her cheek, pulling her in for a kiss. My hands brush over her back. God, she smells good.
Our kisses become more and more intense and soon Tris is on my lap. I hold her close and she wraps her arms around my neck. My fingers go under her dress and I run them up her bare leg. I reach her centre and rub my thumb over her.
Tris tightens her hold on me and comes closer. I push her panties out of the way and touch her clit. She gasps and grabs onto my shoulders. I pull away a little to look at her, silently asking if she's okay. She smiles and moves one hand down between us, tracing me over my jeans.
After pulling me out, Tris strokes me for a few seconds before guiding my cock inside her. She settles on me and squeezes me. I grab her hips and help her move over me. Her tightness and warmth feel amazing.
I move my fingers into her hair and pull her impossibly closer. Our lips meet and devour each other, swallowing the sounds of passion.
"Tobias," Tris gasps my name, rocking harder on me. I rub her clit as I thrust upwards.
The passion builds until I feel her clench me tightly and come around me. My own release finds me and I kiss her greedily. She hugs me close and slumps against me, resting her head on my shoulder.
After relaxing for a few minutes, we clean up and straighten our clothes. We kiss again gently, whispering I love yous to each other.
"How are you feeling?" I ask her once we're back in our chairs.
"Incredibly satisfied." She grins.
"I'm glad." I say and reach out to hold her hand, squeezing it lightly.
We get back to work and finish all of the tasks for the day. It's like a cakewalk when you get to work with the best. And Tris is definitely the best. After wrapping up the work and putting the files away, we head out for lunch.
We both feel like having some good old Chinese rice so we drive out to a nearby drive-thru restaurant which serves exactly that. After ordering the rice with some chicken, we park the car under a big tree for some shade.
"They gave us only one spoon." Tris states as she rummages through the bag.
"It's okay. We're married, we can share spit." I say nonchalantly. Tris bursts out laughing and kisses me on the cheek.
I stick my tongue out and she immediately touches hers with it. After our weird tongue kiss and crazy talk, we finally start eating. She gives me a bite and then takes one, repeating till we're done.
There's still time for us to go back to work, so we just sink into our car seats and cuddle up, kissing softly and talking. I love these little moments we get to ourselves during the day.
"Ugh, it's almost 2 o'clock. We should head back." Tris says.
"Yeah. But before we go, can I ask you for a kiss, please, Mrs. Eaton?" I smile.
"Of course, Mr. Eaton." She says and leans in to kiss me slowly. Our lips move together in perfect rhythm as our hands hold each other. I twine my fingers through her hair as my tongue goes to hers for more. I wish this kiss would never end. Her warm lips on mine make me go wild.
We pull back too soon and start driving back to the office. In the elevator, Tris holds my hand tightly. I look into her eyes and try to reassure her that everything will be alright.
As we walk towards her office, we run into Mr. Chase. He greets us politely and makes sure we're getting the work done. We fill him in about what we've finished so far and he nods approvingly, saying we could take the rest of the day off. I smile looking at Tris and we get out of the office.
"Hey, do you wanna go home?" I ask her, pulling the car out of the driveway.
"Not really. Why? What do you have in mind?" She asks.
"You know how you've always wanted to climb that abandoned building whose doors are always locked?" I look over at her.
"Oh my god. Tobias Eaton, what are you saying?" She smiles excitedly.
"Tris Eaton, love of my life, I wanna go climb that building with you." I say with a big grin.
"Are you sure? I know you hate heights, you don't have to do it. We could go somewhere else." She tries to reason.
"No, love. I wanna do this. For you." I nod to myself, trying to stay confident.
"Okay, but know that we can always go back home." She says, kissing my hand.
We reach the building, which is seven story tall. We discovered it on one of our walks, and noticed that it's doors were sealed shut. Tris was intrigued by it, and always joked that we should climb it to get inside.
I grab Tris's hand and lead her towards the building. She looks at me to make sure I'm okay and I give her a kiss. We start climbing, holding the bars fixed on the windows to get better leverage. I hear her mutter, "Wish I wasn't wearing a dress for this," behind me and let out a chuckle amid my nervousness.
In no time, we reach the top and climb up on the roof. I let out a heavy breath and relax my muscles. Tris hugs me close and whispers that she's proud of me.
We look around the building and realise that it's nothing more than an abandoned house. Not finding anything fascinating, we go back up on the rooftop and stand against the railing, admiring the city, watching the sky go dark.
I put my arms around Tris's waist and kiss her forehead. She turns to look at me and gives me the most beautiful smile, her eyes shining with love.
"I know why you brought me up here, Tobias." She says.
"Tris-," I get out but she cuts me off.
"I have been going crazy the past 2 days. The constant paranoia that something's gonna happen again. The nerves making me jump at the smallest things. And trying to stop thinking about you-know-what. But the only thing that actually helped me was you. You made me happy in the worst moments of my life. You kept me sane. And I don't need anything or anyone else when I have you. I know what this has done to you, too. But you don't have to hold yourself back, Tobias. Never. I want you with me. In any situation. And I want you to hold me tightly and kiss me and make love to me. Because only you can make me feel calm and safe and loved." She says, her eyes welled up.
"Oh, Tris! I love you." I say and kiss her deeply. I wanted to bring her up here to cheer her up, but now I know what she really needs.
"I love you." She smiles through the tears.
And so, we stand there, up on the rooftop, looking over at the stars, with all we ever want right there in our arms.
