"Hi Hailey, please sit down' the woman invited. Hailey hadn't seen or heard from her in years. She didn't even know she was involved in this case. Should she be angry, frustrated, or thankful? Hailey was at loss. This woman left Jay in pieces when she left and almost ruined Hailey's career. Still, it also made Hailey feel comforted that she knew her and Jay and solving this case probably was as important to her as it was for Hailey. "Hi Erin, it's been a while." Hailey greeted her while taking a seat. Both women immediately went to business, since there was no time for chit-chat and the first couple of hours were filled with different tactics, background information on the case and everything else that was needed to go forward.

When both women emerged from the interrogation room around noon, all the intelligence members were shocked to see that Erin was back to help them with the case. But they all greeted her like an old friend coming back home. "Hey kiddo, happy to see you." Hank greeted her coming out of his office. "Wish it was under better circumstances, but yeah I am glad I can help here," Erin responded. It was time to inform the rest of the team of their course of action. Since the people that had targeted Hailey only went after on-duty cops, it was their way to send a message, Hailey needed to start working with the unit again. Even though Hailey still didn't know if she was ready to return, they needed these people off the streets.

Erin filled everyone in on the case. Hailey was begin targeted by a small group of people, who were actively lobbying to grow bigger, they gained some following but so far mostly passive. The leader of the group was James Stone, a name that was familiar to Hailey and the team. He had come up during previous investigations but there was never enough evidence to actually link them to the cases. He was the brain behind all of this, you wouldn't find him carrying it out in person anytime soon. He had men for that, Jimmy Cold was one of them. He wasn't the smartest guy on the block, but he was a pretty good lookout. Never in plain sight but saw everything and everyone. The hardest part in catching these guys might actually be going unnoticed by Jimmy. By the time you would have spotted him it could already be too late and might one life be saved but these criminals would still be out there. Then there were Viktor Crim and Nikki Minnals, James' hitmen. They were good, rarely missed and were always one step ahead, but sometimes relayed too much on Jimmy's intel which could make them vulnerable.

"Three months ago the FBI infiltrated the bigger organisation after getting some alarming tips. This organisation "Stop the force" used to be harmless. They would hold peaceful protests, write letters, and leave voice messages to politicians. All in order to put a hold on police violence. They made progress, especially after talking to the police officers and educating each other on how to create a safer environment. Still, these steps were small and barely visible yet. This made some of them decide it was not going fast enough and took matters into their own hands. Soon after the first signals, we infiltrated to get some insider information. That is how we were able to identify Stone, sadly not until after they killed Jay." Erin filled everyone in. With the inside information, they had a pretty good idea of what their movements would be and how to get their attention. The only thing that was tricky in all of this was the mole hadn't been identified yet. Someone had been leaking intel about cases to Stone in order for him to take action. "The cases that have been targeted are usually high profile and early on picked up by the press. This morning we caught a gang-related homicide and Intelligence is taking it." Erin concluded.

Without any further explanation, Erin handed out the case files, did a quick rundown of the case and set everyone to work. After everyone finished reading Voight, Kevin and Adam were sent down to the crime scene. This was a necessary move to show that Intelligence was involved. Erin made them promise to wear vests under their jackets at all times until this case was closed and made a plan for Hailey to safely make known that she was working again too. That in came easier than expected, one of the victims made it out alive and was currently treated at med. She and Kim went down there to interview the victim while Erin kept working angles from the bullpen.

For the next three days, they kept working the case as usual and hitting loads of dead ends. Maybe it was the fact that they felt the pressure of solving this case to keep Hailey safe, or it was actually dead end after dead end. The tension in the bullpen grew intensely high and everyone was on edge. Especially Hailey her nerves were growing by the minute, this case felt like life and death for her and she knew that they could catch a break, in this case, any minute now. That moment was one hour later, they had gotten an anonymous tip that the drugs stolen during the homicide would be sold later that night, and the deal was set to close at the Damen Grain Silos. They researched the location and decided to keep this one in the house, involving more officers might tip them off. Knowing this is a pretty big terrain with lots of hiding spaces and a wide view over the area this might become very tricky. After coming up with a plan, and a communication system and double-checking their weapons, protection and ammunition the team was ready to go.

Just before she descended downstairs Erin pulled Hailey aside. "Are you sure you are ready?" She asked the woman. Hailey nodded, "Yeah, we need to catch these guys before they do more harm. I am afraid the team might get hurt in the process though." Hailey said. After which it was Erin's time to nod "I understand, but what about you? You are their target, they never went after anybody else but their targets." Hailey took a deep breath "I am afraid of them, but I am not afraid of dying anymore, these past few weeks without Jay have been the hardest of my life. I am still not sure if I want to keep living without him." Hailey answered with tears in her eyes. Erin pulled her into a hug, needing more time to come up with a response. "Please don't do anything stupid tonight, look out for yourself and give yourself some more time to grief and think about what you want," Erin said. Hailey stayed quiet for a while before pulling away "I won't do anything stupid tonight, someone has got to have your back out there, we are going to catch these bastards." With that, they followed the team out and drove to the location.

They approached the location as they always would, quiet, in the dark and by staying out of sight. The team spread out around the silos in order to get eyes at the location. The sun was starting to set and it would not be long before it was completely dark. Hailey took a deep breath and got out of the car, followed by Erin. They were supposed to get the eyes inside. While approaching the main building they got a signal that Jimmy was spotted just outside the building near the waterfront, this confirmed the suspicion that this was the trap they were hoping for. Kevin would hold eyes on him, "Erin, Hailey, he just told them of your arrival, he hasn't noticed the rest of us yet, be aware" Without tipping anyone off Hailey tightened her ponytail, as a signal they understood. Quietly they got closer to the building, spotting Nikki in the tower outside the silos. "Tower, second floor" Hailey whispered to Erin. Walking a little closer to the silos to get more coverage. They were wearing their kevlar but a shot to the head would still be fatal. Once inside they saw there was not much room to take cover. They saw two cars, James emerged from the first one while some stranger emerged from the second. There might be a real deal after all they thought. But before the deal could take place it started raining bullets. With no vision of where they were coming from, Erin and Hailey knew they were trapped inside. An inch to the right and they would be in Nikki's crossfire and further inside would either be in Viktor's or James' crossfire. "Do we start firing back? Or keep hiding?" Hailey asked. Normally she should be firing back but now she was not so sure. Before she got an answer Erin turned around and aimed for the spot she had seen Nikki last at. She really missed the long guns right now. She and Hailey were the only ones who couldn't take them with them during this operation.

Erin was pretty sure she hadn't made a hit towards Nikki, but she did hear over the combs from Adam that she was down. He might have taken advantage of the situation and taken her down to create space to move in for Hailey and Erin. And it was much needed to move because the last two bullets went straight through the wall they were hiding behind. "This isn't going to hold much longer, ready to move in?" Erin asked. Hailey nodded and the two women opened fire towards were James and Viktor were at, the buyer had already left the building. "I still don't have eyes on Viktor, James is behind the car," Hailey said while peeking a bit further out. That was a mistake, she heard a shot and within seconds felt it make contact with her vest blowing her back into the wall.
