Roxas never really believed in bad luck. Sure, everyone had their off-days or times when things didn't go as planned. He's definitely had a fair share of those unpredictable moments in the past. However, it seemed like a coincidence that their trip just so happened to land on the unluckiest day on the calendar, as Sora had mentioned earlier. Not that Roxas believed in those silly myths. He just made a simple mistake of locking himself out of his own room.

No big deal, right?

The young man attempted to turn the doorknob again and… nothing. Yep, he was definitely locked out.

Roxas mentally cursed to himself and cluelessly stood around for a few moments before he decided to head over to Kairi's door. Of course, knocking on her door a few times didn't help either, seeing how she never answered.

"What is she doing?" he muttered, now attempting to peek through the room's window.

Stupid, you can't just peek into a girl's room, he thought, taking a step back at his realization. Luckily, the curtains seemed to cover up the inside anyway. After waiting around a few more moments for no one to come to the door, Roxas grumbled under his breath and pulled out his phone from his pocket to send Kairi a message.

Roxas: Hey… sorry to bother you but I kinda have a situation here.

Roxas: Can you open the door?

The blond sighed to himself and leaned up against her door, gently smacking his forehead against it. He hoped Kairi actually had her phone close by, otherwise he would continue to look like an idiot just awkwardly standing outside the rooms. Why did he take off his MagicBand anyway?

Oh right… the shower I decided not to have…

Now that he thought about it, Kairi probably had the same idea to take a quick shower, which might have explained why it took forever for her to answer the door. To think he could've been taking that warm shower he's been wanting for hours now…

Suddenly, Roxas barely had any time to react when the door swung open, causing him to stumble right into the auburn-haired girl who was just about to make her way out.

"Whoa!" He managed to catch himself before things got more awkward.

Kairi's eyes widened briefly as she let out a soft laugh, holding up her phone. "Sorry, I just saw your message. What happened?"

Roxas blanked out for a moment as the scent of her strawberry shampoo filled the air around him. "I uh… hang on, did you really just take a shower?"

"Uh-huh," she nodded, "I figured I'd freshen up a bit."

"I thought so," he chuckled, rubbing his neck.

"Did I take too long?"

Roxas quickly shook his head. "No no! You're fine. It's just uh… I need help with something."

The redhead curiously tilted her head as she briefly examined him from head to toe. Suddenly, she leaned forward and smirked. "Does it have to do with tying your shoelaces?"

"Huh?" The young man glanced down and noticed one of his shoes was untied, while the other shoe's knot was close to coming undone. As if he wasn't already flustered enough.

"Hey, I know how to tie my shoes," he pouted slightly.

"Juuust messing with you," Kairi joked with a playful smile, "Anyway, what can I help you with?"

Roxas kept his eyes down at his untied shoes and shrugged. "I locked myself out of my room."

"Don't you have your MagicBand on?" She raised a brow, reaching out for his arm as she slightly pulled up his sleeve to see his bare wrist. "Oh…"

"I took it off for a sec."

"You left it in the room?"

"Maybe…?"

Kairi kept her gaze on Roxas, who seemed a bit embarrassed to look at her. She found herself almost laughing at his little mishap, despite how bad she felt for him right now, but she didn't want to embarrass him any further. Instead, she tugged on his hand and took a step back into her room. "We'll get that resolved in a bit. Wanna come inside for now?"

Before he had the chance to respond, Roxas was already brought inside while Kairi made her way over to the bathroom area.

"Don't worry, I won't be long," she informed, stepping in front of the mirror to fix her hair.

The blond stuffed his hands in his pockets as he proceeded to quietly stand by the door. Waiting around in his crush's room at the hotel was not on his to-do list. Though, with the current lack of disturbances around, he supposed now might have been a good opportunity to bring up the whole Valentine's Day idea to her.

… That is, if he knew how to bring it up in the first place.

"Alright, this might sound kinda weird but…"

Nope.

"You wanna spend Valentine's Day with me tomorrow or… whatever?"

Ehh…

"Hey, I was wondering if maybe you wanna… y'know… be my valentine… if you're cool with that...?"

Jeez, I'm really shouldn't be so hard…

Meanwhile, Kairi quietly watched him in the mirror from across the room. The poor guy must have been worried about getting his little "key" bracelet back in time before heading out to the parks again. Thankfully there was a solution, but the girl supposed that having some company over for a little bit won't hurt. She really liked Roxas's presence anyway.

He eventually caught Kairi staring at his reflection in the mirror and they both froze up before she smiled warmly at him.

"Your Mickey ears are still in my bag, by the way," she pointed out, gesturing to the backpack sitting on one of the beds.

"Oh… right."

Roxas walked over to the bag and retrieved his souvenir, as well as Kairi's. He smiled, thinking back to the other night when he first saw the redhead wearing the Minnie ears. And how he accidentally admitted she looked cute. He wasn't wrong there though.

While Roxas continued waiting around for Kairi to finish up, he tried to find something to do to ease his mind a bit. And perhaps something to get the girl's attention. The young man smiled playfully as he slipped the Minnie headband on his head and approached Kairi.

"Alright, I'm ready to go."

Kairi stared at the mirror when Roxas came into view and nearly burst into a fit of giggles.

"You know, you look pretty good with a bow on your head," she smiled, reaching up to the polka-dotted bow attached to the ears.

Roxas shrugged, ignoring the fact that his cheeks were warming up slightly. "Eh, I think you pull it off better than I do."

"Well, I think you should keep them on," she nodded.

"Only if you promise we'll get some ice cream."

Kairi snorted, turning to face Roxas. "Is that all you ever fantasize about?"

"No," he laughed, shaking his head. "But you gotta admit, you can't go wrong with that. Besides, you still owe me some after dragging me onto that spinning ride."

The redhead hummed to herself as she finished up and walked over to grab the Mickey ears still laying in bed. She spun on her heel and faced Roxas again with a pleased smile.

"That sounds swell!" She said cheerfully in her best Mickey impression, which completely caught Roxas off guard.

"Oh boy…"

"Hey, that's my line," Kairi laughed as she poked his chest.

"I think these are a bad influence on you," he smirked, reaching out to take the hat off her head, only to get swatted by her hand.

"Ah-ah! No touchy. They're staying on until we get to the park."

"Speaking of which…" He crossed his arms and slightly leaned down to her height. "I still need my MagicBand before we leave."

"I know," she gently shoved him away and held out her hand, "Give me your phone."

Roxas raised a brow as he cautiously pulled out the device from his pocket and handed it over to Kairi, who then began to fiddle around with it like it was no big deal. The girl took a seat on the bed in the meantime while Roxas kept staring at her questionably. Despite his ongoing confusion, he ended up shrugging it off and sat beside the redhead, who seemed concentrated on whatever she was doing. The two remained silent for a while, leaving Roxas alone with his thoughts again.

Just… say something to her…

His gaze eventually trailed to her face, which was partially covered by her long, red hair. But he realized the longer he stared, the more he noticed some facial features he didn't pick up on before. Did she always have those little freckles on her cheeks?

Kairi must have sensed a pair of eyes on her as she turned to meet the young man's gaze. He wanted to say something but the words slipped from his mind at that moment. All he received in return was a soft smile… and his phone.

"Here you go."

Roxas snapped back to reality and looked down to his phone, which displayed the resort they were staying at, and a big blue button that read "unlock door" on the screen. Wait, was everyone but him using this Disney park app? The blond glanced up at Kairi with a baffled look, then back down to the screen.

"You… wait, you're telling me… that you can unlock the door with a phone?"

"Yup," Kairi giggled as she sprung up from the bed. "Isn't technology great?"

Roxas flopped back on the bed and stared at the ceiling in defeat. "Y'know, you could've told me this like five minutes ago."

"Well, maybe I wanted some company," she shrugged, glancing down at his shoes. "Your shoelaces are still untied, by the way."

Roxas sat upright again to see Kairi looking back at him with that playful smile of hers. He couldn't help but chuckle as she eagerly rushed him to finish up so they could finally get going. The time they spent together so far, he just couldn't get enough of it. He had to say something soon. He wasn't sure how much longer he could bottle up the feelings he had for this girl.

He only hoped she felt the same way.

It was almost late in the afternoon by the time Roxas and Kairi arrived at their destination. The skies had finally cleared up by then as the occasional cool breeze swept through, despite the warm sun shining down on them. Kairi took a moment to read through the messages on her phone, informing Roxas that their group of friends had arrived at the same park some minutes ago, just as they originally planned to do before the pair split up from the group. Of course, it still wasn't Kairi's intention to change up their plans last minute, even though Xion and Naminé encouraged it. The redhead was certain she wouldn't hear the end of it when they all reunited again.

While the two walked down the crowded path surrounded by gift shops, Roxas had his eyes glued onto the paper map in his hands as Kairi kept her arm looped around his.

"Did you forget about the park app on your phone, Roxas?" She teased, peeking over with a small smile.

Roxas turned to her and pouted slightly, "Nope. I'm not gonna use that."

"Too advanced for you?"

"Sure, let's go with that."

Kairi giggled softly, turning back to look ahead of them where the replica of the Chinese Theatre stood. And just along the way was a small kiosk selling ice cream and drinks. The girl took the chance to lead the way, seeing how Roxas was still busy examining the map. He finally looked up once they stopped in the short line to buy the treats.

"Wha…"

"You said you wanted ice cream," she said, letting go of his arm, "So ice cream it is."

Once they finally got their ice cream bars in the shape of a Mickey head, Roxas and Kairi proceeded to take a stroll down the scenic path full of tall palm trees and streetlights. It might as well would've been like they were walking through the streets of Hollywood, just like in the movies.

They still had plenty of time to spare despite not having a solid plan to follow for the rest of the day.

"Oh! I know what we can do," Kairi grinned as she stepped in front of Roxas with her half-eaten ice cream bar. "Let's watch the Frozen sing-along show."

Roxas gave her a blank stare, "You're joking, right?"

"Nope," she smiled smugly.

He liked Kairi. He really did. But was she trying to torture him?

Right, she still likes laughing at my pain. Duly noted.

"I think I'll pass," Roxas replied as he began to walk past the redhead. He heard Kairi booing at him before she caught up. She looped her arm around his again to keep him from walking off a second time and definitely not because she liked being close to him.

"Okay how about… the Beauty and the Beast show? You like Beauty and the Beast, right? The next show is in about half an hour."

Kairi gestured to a sign just up ahead displaying showtimes for the small live musical show based off the animated movie. Roxas supposed this was at least a step up from her prior suggestion.

"I guess I don't mind that one," he shrugged while staring off into the distance. Right up ahead was a very tall, eerie building that stood out like a sore thumb. Tower of Terror, was it?

Roxas smirked as he thought of an idea.

"But only on one condition…"

"And what's that?"

"We gotta go on that afterwards."

Kairi glanced over to where he pointed and fell silent before she turned to face him with a confident smile.

"Fine, deal."

"See? That was nice, wasn't it?" Kairi smiled as they began making their way out of the outdoor theater.

"Yeah," Roxas nodded, "I'm pretty sure "Be Our Guest" is gonna stay stuck in my head for the rest of the day."

"Try the grey stuff, it's delicious!"

"Don't believe me-"

"Ask the dishes!" They sang in unison and laughed as Kairi reached out to hold onto Roxas's arm. He noticed she began to do that more often now in the past hour or so. That was a good sign, right? His heart fluttered at the thought.

"They have such nice costumes, too," she remarked, thinking back to all the different outfits and costumes worn throughout the show.

Roxas nodded in agreement, "You'd look pretty in Belle's dress."

He suddenly received a surprised look from Kairi and that's when he realized…

Wait… did I just say that out loud?

The redhead couldn't help but laugh to herself as she tugged on his sleeve and leaned closer to him. "And I think you'd look handsome in a suit."

He smiled timidly, acknowledging the fact that his ears were burning up at her compliment. Were they flirting just now? Is that how it's done? He wasn't sure. But it felt nice.

Once they walked back out to the main path, the large structure towering over the park came into view again. Roxas began to lead the way over to the attraction, just as they agreed to do. Right away, he noticed how quiet Kairi became as they went into the ride queue, which he found a bit odd since she always seemed excited to ride stuff.

Roxas glanced at the girl and gently nudged her. "Hey, you alright?"

Kairi let go of his arm and nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

Kairi remained silent as she tried to distract herself with all the surroundings outside of the attraction. Admittedly, the uncanny atmosphere didn't help much. She couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "I actually haven't been on this ride before."

"Oh…" Roxas stuffed his hands in his pockets and chuckled as they continued to move up in the line. "So… I guess this will be the first time for the both of us. Unless you don't wanna ride-"

The girl playfully scoffed as she crossed her arms. "Nuh-uh, I'm not backing out now."

Roxas watched her walking a few steps ahead of him and smiled to himself. "Well, alright. Cool."

As they entered the building, which was themed as a haunted hotel, Kairi took a moment to put the Mickey ears in her backpack. Roxas had nearly forgotten he's been wearing the Minnie headband this whole time. He finally took it off and handed them over to Kairi to hold onto. From there, they were sent from one room to another, and the closer they reached the front of the line, the more anxious Kairi became.

Roxas picked up on it and brushed his hand against hers before taking it in his own.

"C'mon, I'm sure it's not that scary," he reassured.

"Yeah…" She glanced down at their intertwined hands before giving him a small smile. "If I can handle some roller coasters, then this should be a breeze."

They were finally loaded into the elevator ride and once they were seated down and buckled up, Kairi reached out to Roxas's hand and held on tightly. Now he suddenly couldn't tell if his heart was racing from the ride or from her touch.

The ride was a dark one, full of strange things seen on some Twilight Zone episode, as the elevator quickly ascended higher and higher. Once the narration of the ride ended, everything went quiet except for some of the guests already shouting out of fear and excitement.

Then suddenly, the elevator descended at a rapid speed. Roxas felt his stomach drop, while Kairi squeezed the life out of his hand. They immediately shot back up to the top where the doors opened up to reveal a quick view of the park, which only lasted a few seconds before the elevator dropped further down. They went up once more, before ascending down a final time, concluding the ride. Roxas was certain he couldn't feel his hand from how tight Kairi held onto him. But when he glanced over to her, she seemed… fine?

"Oh my gosh. That was actually fun!" she grinned.

They got off the attraction and checked out their on-ride photos towards the exit. Both of them looked terrified but surprisingly, Kairi ended up liking it more than she thought she would. Roxas on the other hand… well…

"Wanna go on it again?" she asked as she dragged him out of the building.

"Uh… I think I'm good," he chuckled sheepishly.

"Someone sounds scared," she teased in a sing-song voice.

"Yeah, well… you almost crushed my hand back there!"

Kairi gave him a fake frown as she reached out to his hand and kissed the back of it. "Sorry Roxas's hand."

Yep, his heart was definitely still racing.

Just around the corner was another attraction that turned out to be a fast roller coaster ride. The pair looked at each other and both eagerly agreed to ride that next.

Roxas wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline, or the fact that he was spending time with the most beautiful girl around, but he was feeling great at that moment. As they waited in the queue, he found himself bopping his head to the rock music playing in the background, before he started goofing off by playing an air guitar. Kairi watched him in amusement before she joined his shenanigans, not caring if the people around them were staring.

"I think we'd make a pretty good musical duo," Roxas grinned.

"Sign me up! I'll definitely play a gig with you," Kairi laughed.

"I just need some more practice, I'm a bit rusty."

The redhead glanced at him curiously as they moved up in the line. "Hang on, do you actually play guitar?"

Roxas turned to look at her and passed a hand through his spiky locks. "Heh, I mean… I don't wanna brag but I can play a few tunes."

"Show off," Kairi playfully shoved him before giving him an eager smile. "You should show me sometime."

"I'd appreciate playing something for a small audience," he smiled timidly.

The song playing on the speakers eventually faded out into the next song and Kairi gasped.

"Aww, I love this song," she smiled, resting her hand on her chest. Roxas watched as she swayed along to the power ballad before she began to sing softly to herself.

"I could stay awake just to hear you breathin',

Watch you smile while you are sleeping, while you're far away and dreaming"

Roxas swayed along with Kairi, quietly keeping his gaze on her as she continued to sing along.

"I could spend my life in this sweet surrender,

I could stay lost in this moment forever,

Where every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure"

Kairi reached over and grabbed Roxas's hand as she faced him and began to dramatically sing the chorus.

"Don't wanna close my eyes, I don't wanna fall asleep,

'Cause I'd miss you baby, and I don't wanna miss a thing"

Roxas chuckled at the performance Kairi was putting on and decided to take her other hand in his. He gently swung their arms around as he joined in on the singing.

"'Cause even when I dream of you, the sweetest dream would never do,

I'd still miss you baby, and I don't wanna miss a thing"

They ended up getting lost in the moment, not realizing the line had begun to move up. Both of them burst into laughter and shimmied over to fill the gap ahead of them.

They stood around in the queue a while longer before they were guided to a room to watch a pre-show taking place before the ride. From there, they were led to the loading station where they could catch a glimpse of the dark coaster ride. Roxas's eyes widened slightly when he watched the long vehicle take off in a matter of seconds.

"Wow, that's fast…"

Once they made it to the front of the line, the pair was led to the front row gate.

"Ooooh, we're getting the front row seats!" Kairi beamed.

"You're not gonna crush my hand this time, are you?" Roxas wondered, crossing his arms.

The redhead pouted and playfully slapped his arm as the limousine made its way around the corner. They hopped right in and pulled the restraints down before the vehicle took off and made a stop just before the launch.

Roxas took a deep breath and put his head back in the seat as the countdown began.

5… 4… 3… 2…

Screech!

Everything happened so fast as the long vehicle went through some rapid loops and turns through the neon lights. Both Roxas and Kairi shouted at the top of their lungs as the loud music blasted on the speakers throughout the ride. After taking a few more twists and turns, the limo came to a sudden halt near the exit. The "musical duo" stepped out with smiles on their faces as they took a quick look at the on-ride photos for this ride.

"Such grace," Kairi joked, laughing at their unflattering faces in the photo.

"Another keeper," Roxas chuckled.

It was practically dark outside by the time they walked out of the attraction. Roxas had to admit, there was something sensational about the park atmosphere at night, with all the bright and colorful lights surrounding them. And it wasn't as crowded as it was some hours before, which made it much more enjoyable to stroll around.

Everything had been going perfect.

Almost too perfect.

Roxas hesitantly glanced at the auburn-haired girl walking beside him. Kairi stared back with a curious gaze before a smile formed on her lips. She wandered a few steps ahead of the blond and began to walk backwards, still facing him.

"What's on your mind, mister?"

Roxas walked at a slower pace and chuckled. "Y'know… stuff."

"Like…?"

He slightly pursed his lips, carefully thinking of what he wanted to say. "Uhh… you don't believe in bad luck, do you?"

Kairi raised a brow and came to a stop, causing Roxas to do the same. "Is this about Friday the 13th?"

"If you wanna put it that way," he shrugged. It wasn't necessarily what Roxas wanted to ask but he supposed it was still something floating in his mind. "I guess it's just kinda funny how nice today has been. Definitely nowhere near unlucky. I mean… that's if we don't count myself getting locked out of my hotel room."

Kairi giggled, taking a step forward to playfully punch him. "Well, don't jinx it, dummy. The night's not over yet."

"So you do believe in bad luck then," he smiled smugly.

"I never said I did."

"You implied it."

"Nuh-uh."

"Uh-huh."

"I'm gonna kick you," Kairi slightly lifted her foot up but Roxas quickly stepped out of the way. Both of them couldn't help but laugh.

"Why do you always gotta choose violence?"

"Sorry," Kairi stepped close to him and embraced his arm as she looked up at him with a flirty smile. "Would you like some affection instead?"

Roxas opened his mouth to say something but he suddenly found himself captivated by her gaze. The brief exchange was cut short when they heard a cheerful voice calling out their names.

"Kairi! Roxas!"

The redhead was the first to pull away from Roxas when she spotted Sora avidly making his way over to them with a lightsaber in his hand.

Gee, talk about great timing…

"Hey guys! Feels like it's been a whole day since we last saw each other!"

"That's because it almost has been a day," Kairi laughed softly.

Sora sheepishly rubbed his neck, "Heh yeah, sorry for ditching you two. It was all Xion and Naminé's idea. I can't help but feel like they're always up to something."

"You can say that again," the girl said, playfully rolling her eyes. "I think we've been making the most of our time though."

"Err… where's everyone else?" Roxas wondered, realizing he didn't see the rest of the group around.

"They're browsing through the gift shops right now. I snuck off for a sec 'cause I noticed you guys standing here from a distance! Oh!" Sora remembered as he went on, "We might grab something to eat and do one more ride before we watch the Fantasmic show later. You guys wanna join us or…?"

"Nah, I think we're good for n-"

"Sure, we'll go with you gu-"

Roxas and Kairi both looked at each other in confusion before turning back to Sora.

"I mean, I guess we could go with you gu-"

"Actually, Roxas and I already have som-"

They glanced at each other again before nearly breaking into laughter. Sora wasn't sure what was happening but he almost found himself laughing along as well.

"Well, if you guys make up your minds, you know where to find us!"

With that said, the cheerful young man spun on his heel and sprinted back over to the gift shops, leaving Roxas and Kairi by themselves again. They exchanged looks and smiled at one another before the girl reached for his arm and pulled him along.

"So… are you feeling hungry?"

There was still a bit of sightseeing to be done around the park, which is what Roxas and Kairi spent their time doing for a while before they decided to stop by the nearest restaurant for dinner. Just around the corner was a building with a sign that read "Sci-Fi Dine In Theater Restaurant". They waited outside for a few minutes before being called in to be seated.

Once inside, Roxas immediately picked up on the theme they had going on in the restaurant. It was like a little drive-in theater, with the car-shaped booths, a starry night backdrop, and a large screen displaying movie clips from the 50's. They were guided to one of the booths and were informed someone will take their order shortly.

"After you," Roxas smiled, gesturing to the booth.

"Why thank you, sir," Kairi giggled as she took her seat before Roxas followed.

After a waiter assisted them right away, they were eventually left alone to enjoy the atmosphere around them. Roxas quietly watched the retro clips playing on the screen as he tapped his fingers on the table in anticipation. The opportunity was there again.

The young man slightly parted his lips when he suddenly heard Kairi giggling softly beside him.

"What a goofball."

Roxas curiously turned to face her, only to realize she was staring at her phone. Before he questioned it, she showed him some silly selfies Sora sent in the group chat. He assumed the pictures were taken earlier in the day when the group split up.

Roxas couldn't help but force a smile. He had been so busy trying to figure out his feelings and waiting for the right time to bring it up that it didn't really occur to him that… well… maybe Sora and Kairi were a thing. Sora did hang out with Kairi a lot more than he did, considering they knew each other since they were kids.

And maybe there was more to them that Roxas didn't know about. He supposed there was only one way to find out.

"You guys are pretty close, huh?"

Kairi glanced over and smiled, "Me and Sora? Yeah, we've always been close. Practically since grade school. I think he might've already told you that."

"Oh yeah, he's brought it up plenty of times," he chuckled, "It's cool how you guys kept in touch all those years."

"Mmhmm," Kairi nodded as she absentmindedly fiddled with her bracelets, "It's weird to imagine not having him around. And Riku too. They've both been great friends."

"Who's Riku?" He asked half-jokingly.

Kairi let out a small laugh and gently shoved his shoulder. "You two really need to get along."

Roxas glanced at her with a smirk and shrugged. "No promises."

The girl shook her head and tsked at him while turning her attention to the movie screen above. Roxas did the same as he continued tapping the table, realizing he was still kind of left in the dark. He didn't mean to pry, but he had to know.

"So… are you and Sora… y'know…"

Kairi suddenly faced him again with a surprised expression. "What? Like are we… together?"

He immediately regretted asking the question. No turning back now though.

"Yeah."

She laughed softly and shook her head. "We're not."

His heart skipped a beat. Did he hear that right?

"Really? You guys never dated or anything?"

She shook her head again. "Nope. Well…"

The waiter suddenly interrupted them to place their drinks on the table. Kairi thanked them with a smile and took a sip before she went on.

"I actually liked Sora some time ago… only for a little while… but… I just couldn't see myself being in a serious relationship with him. Mainly because I didn't want to lose what we already had. He means a lot to me… and if things didn't work out between us…" She trailed off, realizing she might have been oversharing too much. She let out a nervous laugh and sank down slightly in her seat. "Sorry, I know it's a bit silly."

Roxas was still trying to process everything but he quickly shook his head. "Nah, it's not silly. I get it… but… sometimes you just gotta go for it, you know?"

Says the person who's never been in a relationship, he thought to himself.

Kairi looked at him with a small smile and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, you're right. It's fine though. I'm happy that we're still great friends. I couldn't ask for anything better than that."

"Besides…" she went on, leaning her head on her hand with eyes locked on Roxas's, "I think I might have my mind set on someone else right now."

Wait, she's looking at me… so is she talking about… me…?

Oh.

Roxas felt his cheeks burning up, realizing whatever he wanted to say was all jumbled up in his head. He gave her a small, timid smile and opened his mouth to speak, until he got distracted by the people being seated in the backseat booth right behind them. Roxas looked at them from the corner of his eye and noticed that it was… Xion and Naminé?

"Oh… carry on. Don't mind us," Xion smiled, stuffing her face in the dinner menu in front of her as Naminé waved at the pair.

"It's nice to see you guys again."

Kairi grinned as she greeted her friends, and that's when Roxas noticed the rest of the group making their way into the restaurant. He was a bit disappointed, but not surprised.

But that was alright. He was still quite happy regardless.

With only just about two hours left to spare before the park closed, Roxas and Kairi decided to tag along with their friends for the rest of the night. Despite the rowdiness that came along with the group — and Ventus being the nosy brother he was, quietly asking about the status of "Operation: Valentine", as he called it — Roxas felt a little more at ease.

He couldn't help but shoot a glance at Kairi every chance he got, while Kairi did the same. She was certain that he might have started picking up on all her hints.

They all agreed to do one more ride in the meantime as they walked through the Toy Story themed area. Sora eagerly led the group into the ride queue for Toy Story Mania, boasting about how he always got a high score on the little carnival-like game attraction. Roxas wondered if he could do the same to impress Kairi as they both agreed to compete against each other.

Boy, was he wrong.

"Hah! I win!" Kairi beamed, looking at her high score on the 3D screen in front of them.

"I think this thing is rigged," he laughed.

"Nope, I'm just better than you," she teased, sticking her tongue out at him.

He crossed his arms and stuck his tongue out in return.

Once they got off the ride and browsed around the area for a bit, the group of friends finally started making their way over to the nighttime show, which would conclude their night at the theme park. They walked into the large outdoor theater and sat down on the crowded benches that stretched throughout the area.

Roxas sat next to Kairi as she leaned slightly towards him.

"Ready to see some Disney fireworks?"

Roxas chuckled and shook his head, "I still don't see what makes them any different from regular fireworks."

"I already told you…" she said, turning her gaze to the stage ahead of them, "It's the Disney magic that makes them different."

The young man kept his eyes on the girl sitting next to him and smiled at her words.

Disney magic, huh?

Soon, the lights dimmed down as the show began. Everyone watched the performance in awe as all the colorful lights and water fountain effects synchronized with the music, followed by various characters appearing on stage and on floats.

Sometime during the show, Roxas rested his hand on the bench and brushed his fingers against Kairi's hand just beside him. She picked up on it and inched her hand closer. Neither of them made eye contact but they both couldn't help smiling to themselves as they remained close until the show's finale.

Their second day of their trip was now officially over as the group of friends exited the bus that dropped them off at their hotel. Everyone tiredly made their way to the rooms from there. Roxas quietly followed as the redhead walked a few steps ahead. He fell into thought for a few moments before he walked up beside Kairi with a small smile.

"Hi."

"Hi," she greeted back with a small smile of her own.

The blond walked quietly by her side for another few moments before he turned to face her again.

"You wanna walk around with me for a bit?"

Kairi looked at him and hummed to herself as she glanced at their friends walking ahead of them. She then grabbed Roxas's arm and began to lead the way over to a different path close by.

"Let's go down this way," she suggested.

They walked in silence for a few minutes, simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere at night down the illuminated path. Just up ahead was the scenic view of the lake with the various lights reflecting off the surface of the water.

"Tomorrow's our last day," Kairi said quietly.

"Gee, thanks for the reminder," Roxas chuckled.

The girl giggled softly as she broke away from him and walked with her hands behind her back.

"I think this has been my favorite trip so far."

"Yeah?"

"I got to spend it with my closest friends. And I made a cool new friend along the way," she smiled, gently bumping her shoulder into his.

Roxas glanced over with a half-smile and rubbed his neck. "I gotta say… for my first time here, it's actually been pretty fun. And spending time with you has been pretty fun too."

"Well… we have one more day to make the most of it," Kairi said.

"Right."

They fell silent again.

This was it. He had to say something.

Roxas timidly stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked over to Kairi.

"Hey, can I ask you something?"

Kairi turned her attention back to him and nodded. "Sure, what's up?"

"I mean… it's kinda dumb but I've been meaning to ask… since it's Valentine's Day tomorrow… I was wondering if you wanna maybe…" He paused and tried to completely rephrase himself. "Actually… do you wanna go on a date?"

The redhead stopped in her tracks and looked at Roxas in surprise. He mentally panicked as he went on, trying his best not to stumble on his words.

"I-I really liked spending these past days with you. And I wouldn't mind spending it together again tomorrow for our last day here. Just you and me. And… I guess we can see where things go from there… if you're interested…"

Smooth. Very smooth…

Kairi kept her gaze on the young man standing in front of her. The same quiet person from just a few days ago. And the same person she started falling for. The redhead felt her cheeks warm up as she stepped closer to him, tip-toeing to meet his height.

And kissed his cheek.

Roxas froze up at the sudden contact as he watched her step back with rosy cheeks and a radiant smile.

"I'd really like that."

It took him a few moments to process her words before he ended up giving her a dumb smile in return.

"Cool… g-great."

Kairi brought a hand to her mouth and giggled to herself as she kept her gaze on Roxas. "So… a Disney date, hmm? This should be fun. By the way…"

She removed her backpack and reached inside to grab the Mickey ears, suddenly remembering she still had to give it back to him. Though, instead of handing it over, Kairi stepped up to Roxas and crookedly placed the hat on his head.

"I really think these look cute on you."

"Hey… where's Roxas and Kairi?" Sora wondered, looking across the hallway as they all began to enter their rooms.

"Being slowpokes, I guess," Riku joked. Ventus laughed at this, despite the fact that he was half-asleep at this point. Just as Riku was about to enter the room, he heard some laughter from somewhere down below. Curiously, he looked out into the distance and immediately spotted his two friends coming into view, goofing off as they made their way over to the rooms.

"Found them."

Kairi tried to stifle her laughter as she browsed through the camera roll on her phone of all the pictures she's taken so far. Most of them were nice shots, others were a bit silly, but there were a couple that were quite unflattering and "taken at the perfect moment", as she told Roxas.

"I'm gonna take your phone and delete those pictures," he laughed as they started going up the stairs.

"Nuh-uh! I'm definitely keeping these!"

Once they eventually made it to the top, Roxas reached out and began tickling her, causing her to squeal in surprise.

"No! Roxas! Stoooop! Hahaha!"

She attempted to swat his hands away as she held onto her phone for dear life. Roxas eventually stopped, not wanting to cause so much commotion late at night. They both composed themselves as they began heading over to their rooms at a very slow pace.

"Are we stalling right now?" Kairi wondered, taking very small steps along the long hallway.

"Maybe."

Roxas stopped for a moment and began to do a slow motion walk, barely moving from where he was standing.

"We'll get there… very, very sloooowly…"

Kairi snorted as she followed along. "Veeeery… veeeeeery… slooooowly…"

Both of them almost started laughing out loud again…

Until Riku suddenly opened the door and spotted them just outside the rooms.

"What are you guys doing?" He asked, raising a brow, "We could hear you from the inside."

They froze in place before abruptly letting out the laugh they had been holding in. Riku shook his head, chuckling a bit at their antics before telling them to shush.

Kairi spun on her heel and faced Roxas with a small smile, "Goodnight, Roxas. See you tomorrow."

She gave him a small wink and turned back around to wave goodnight to Riku before finally heading inside her room. Roxas was about to do the same before he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Hang on," Riku said.

Great… just when things were going well…

The blond sighed quietly to himself, keeping his eyes on the door in front of him. "What do you want?"

"I just wanna talk for a moment."

Roxas supposed he didn't have a choice. Without making eye-contact, he walked over to the railing and leaned against it, looking out to the lake under the night sky. The silver-haired man stood beside him and did the same.

"I take it you're enjoying your first time here," Riku began, glimpsing over to Roxas.

"Yeah, it's fine," Roxas shrugged.

The two fell silent again, but Riku continued pressing on.

"I'm surprised you made it through the day in one piece. Kairi can be a handful sometimes."

Roxas nearly snorted at his remark and shook his head. "Nah… she's pretty cool."

"She said the same thing about you this morning," he informed. At the mention of that, Roxas finally turned to look at Riku, who kept staring out ahead of him.

"And I believe that," Riku added, looking over to the blond, "You're a good guy."

Roxas tilted his head slightly before he sighed to himself again. "Alright, what's this all about?"

Riku remained silent for a few moments before looking out ahead of him with a small frown. "I just wanna apologize for all the things I've said about you. And for taking some things too far. I don't mean any harm. I just want you to know that."

Roxas pursed his lips slightly as his gaze fell back ahead. He had to admit, it was a bit odd that Riku had been apologizing now of all times, but he supposed it was still better than nothing. With that said, he turned to look at Riku again and impulsively punched his shoulder.

"Oww! Hey!"

"Apology accepted," Roxas said with a smug grin.

Riku rubbed his shoulder before he began to chuckle. "Guess I'll take whatever I can get."

They both laughed quietly as they remained standing by the railing, eventually falling in silence.

"So…" Riku began, breaking the silence once more, "Are you thinking of spending the day with Kairi again tomorrow?"

Roxas didn't want to give away too many details so he simply nodded. "Yeah."

"So she's your valentine, huh?" He added with a sly look.

There's no way he's asking me this right now.

"Don't make this weirder than it already is," Roxas said, shaking his head.

Riku held his hands up in defense and smiled. "Alright, alright."

Roxas took this chance to head into the room, in hopes of getting himself out of this situation, when Riku called out to him again. He would gladly punch him again if he kept this up.

"Treat Kairi well," he said with a gentle expression, "She's got a good heart."

Roxas let his words sink in and found himself smiling at the silver-haired man. He nodded as he finally opened the door. Riku followed, but before he could go in, the door suddenly shut on him. Roxas opened it up from the inside seconds later.

"Oh, sorry about that," Roxas apologized with a smirk, "The door closed on its own again. It's pretty heavy, you know."

"I see what you did there," Riku chuckled, making his way back inside.

Once Roxas settled down, he pulled out his phone from his pocket and noticed he received a message from Kairi.

Kairi: Can't wait to see you again tomorrow

He smiled down at the screen and began to type up a reply.

Roxas: I'm looking forward to it, princess

Ahaha... I used to hate Tower of Terror as a kid. But I eventually warmed up to it! And Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is definitely one of my faves! Anywhooo, this one was pretty fun to write. I wanted to squeeze in as many Roxas/Kairi interactions as I could. But there will be plenty of more to come soon in the next chapter, which will be the final chapter of this fanfic! Hope you guys have enjoyed it so far!
