Here we go! Another chapter already. I can't believe the last season is out then it's over, I'm gonna sob. Also, I've officially changed Callie's faceclaim. This is the final time, I had a bit of doubts with my last one, so had a look around and decided on Maya Hawke, her playing Robin and Eleanor is just phenomenal, and she reminds me of Callie. She is what I picture as Callie. Her chemistry with other actors and her fierce determination. Yes. Her and Rick don't look too similar, but do at the same time. It's weird.
Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead just my ocs and plotlines.
Callie's POV
Jeremy was staring at her dumbfounded, Harriett was shocked but Callie could tell she was in an awkward situation and didn't want to be there but also listening intently. She was torn.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Jeremy finally asks her.
"I- I don't know. I thought it wouldn't matter. But when we got to the Quarry and I heard Lori's name, that's when I knew I found them. Then they said Rick was dead, then he wasn't. I-I didn't know what to do." She rambles and he grabs her shoulder reassuringly.
"Okay." He pauses for a second. "Does he know?"
Callie stares at him for a second, contemplating whether to put it to rest and lie about telling him but knowing Jeremy, he'll accidentally act all brotherly towards him and it would be torn open. Then there would be too much drama. No, she needed to tell Rick. She shakes her head. "I'll tell him soon."
Jeremy nods, accepting the answer. "Make sure you do. He deserves to know the truth."
That's when they decided to keep on walking. She knew that she needed to tell him, but how do you tell someone that didn't know you existed 5 months ago, that you're his sister.
They made it to the church to see a lot of walkers surrounding it, they were just wandering around in circles. Which confirmed to Callie that no one was in the church, otherwise they would all be at the door, fighting to get in.
"You don't think she's in there, do you?" Harriet wonders.
That's what Callie hopes she isn't. Otherwise they have to fight their way in. Or...
"No." Jeremy states and her head snaps up to him. "Absolutely not."
Callie narrows her eyes. "I wasn't saying anything."
"No, but you were thinking it." He points a finger at her. "You're not drawing them away."
"It's a good plan." Harriet agrees and Callie looks at her surprised before cockily smirking at Jeremy.
"See, even Harriet, the new person in our group thinks it's a good plan. I'll draw them away, hide in a tree at a far enough distance, while you two..." she points at the pair. "...go sweep the church in case Sophia is in there."
Callie goes to walk away but Jeremy stops her. "Please just be careful."
"I always am." Callie says before walking in the opposite direction of the farm. She doesn't want to direct the walkers in that direction, and put everyone at risk.
She sees the entrance to the church, well, the gate, rusted and she smiles. Perfect. She grabs the gate and slams it into the fence, forcing a loud clang sound to echo throughout the woods. The walkers turn to her.
"Hey!" She shouts, and watches as the walkers start to snarl and begin to walk.
She quickly runs off, hearing the walkers following after her.
She has been hiding up a tree for some time, waiting for the walkers to disperse and keep heading on in that direction. There hasn't been walkers for a few minutes, but she wanted to wait a bit longer, just in case on jumps on her. That's when she hears screams, what the fuck? She quickly climbs down the tree, and sprints in the direction. She stays hidden in the bushes when she sees a group of men, about five of them, surrounding two girls and a man.
What on Earth?
She grips her handgun in anticipation but waits. They were... she almost threw up at what she was witnessing, they were raping them. And making the man watch. Well, they were finishing up when she arrived.
She clenched her jaw and took aim. That's when a gunshot goes off and one of the girls drops dead. A quiet gasp escapes her and she hides as the men look in her direction. Another gunshot goes off and she squeezes her eyes shut in fear, knowing that they killed the other girl.
The man wails at the sight of the two girls dying. I'm so sorry. She could've helped them but decided not to. They would have found her, and possibly the others. She hears snarls and quickly moves, but she makes sure that they don't see her. She couldn't handle all those walkers right now. She holsters her gun and unsheathes her knife.
She feels a hand on her and whips around to a walker face, it's teeth chomping on air, trying to bite her as she holds it off with one arm. She quickly stabs it in the head, and lowers it to the ground slowly.
She knew that the walkers are on their way to her position. So she had a plan. A ridiculous and crazy plan that could go awry if she wasn't careful. She quickly starts hacking into the walker as she hears the snarls, and as soon as she sees the blood oozing and spurting out of the walker, she begins to smear it on her clothes. The smell hitting her in the face. Oh my god.
Noa's POV
I don't think dad knows what's going on or he's pretending everything is normal. Or maybe he is this naive. But there are thousands, if not millions of the dead surrounding us. It's only a matter of time before they reach the farm. Before they reach home. These new people might be our salvation. Especially Callie and Rick.
She hears footsteps behind her as she is writing in her journal.
"Noa, can I speak to you for a moment?" Her dad asks and she tenses.
"Sure." She looks up at him as he walks into her room and takes a seat next to her. What was this about?
"I heard you the other day. That you said I was a fool."
She swallows hard and looks down guiltily.
"I'm not a fool. But my wife and son are in there. They need help." He pauses. "Your mother needs help." His voice cracks and a few tears fall down his face.
Noa sighs in frustration before looking at him. "There's only one way to help them, dad. They're gone." Her voice chokes at that. They're gone. Nothing is bringing them back. They're gone for good, they're just holding onto shells.
Her dad's face twists in aggravation. "They're not gone. They're sick. I'm not a murderer like you." He snaps and storms out of her room.
A tear runs down her face and she hastily wipes it away. She picks up her pen and writes in her journal.
My dad thinks I'm a murderer. I am a murderer.
Josie's POV
Herself, Lori, Carol, Patricia, Amy, accompanied by Summer, Daisy, Maya, and Beth were in the kitchen preparing dinner. She hasn't seen Noa for a bit of time which concerned her. Connor had a check-up not long ago and his leg is healing up fine, he has to be on crutches for a month to keep him off his leg then it'll be pretty much healed. He was lucky to not break a bone with that bear trap.
"Are you okay?" Carol asks her, watching her in concern. She felt Lori's eyes on her.
"Yeah. Just thinking about Connor. He's healing up well, just has to be on crutches for a month, then he'll be good to go." Josie explains and Carol smiles at her. But she could tell the smile didn't reach her eyes. "They'll find her." She says with such promise to the woman. "Between Daryl, Rick, and Callie. They'll find her."
Carol nods her head, a few tears escaping her eyes and she wipes them away.
"I've never been so happy to be in an actual kitchen." Lori mutters and they nod in agreement.
"Oh yeah? I've never been so happy to see a potato." Carol admits, holding up a potato that she recently peeled and they laugh with her. They were just enjoying the smallest of things. It was nice to have a bit of normality.
"I'm just glad we're not roasting squirrels over a fire in the woods." Amy moans and Josie purses her lips. Even though she means well, it's sad that they're moaning about surviving. But she could see their point. She noticed Summer pull a face at Amy's words but doesn't say anything.
Daisy smiles at Patricia. "Thank you, Patricia, so much for letting us into your house. And please, thank Hershel for allowing me, my older sister and my two brothers to stay here under your care and hospitality."
Patricia smiles kindly at the girl. "I'll let him know."
Josie smiles at the teenager, and she her thoughts go out to all the kids, Connor, Maya, Carl, Sophia, Summer, Daisy, Beth, Jimmy. To all of them. Even the young adults who were finishing college and going out to start their lives. They never got the chance. Growing up in a world like this. Her hand drifts to her stomach, her daughter, going to be born in a few months, not even that. She's losing track of time. She's going to be raised in a world where there are no laws. Where everyone can do whatever the hell they want. She'll teach her everything that's right. Tell her about the old world, teach her right from wrong.
Jeremy's POV
Himself and Harriett have been waiting for quite some time for Callie. It's been too long. Way too long for his liking.
"She'll be okay." Harriett voices and he narrows his eyes at her.
"Yeah? How can you know? You've been with us for all of five minutes." He snaps at her and she looks down. "Look, I'm sorry. Callie is like my sister, I've known her my entire life. If something happens to her-
She interrupts him. "I get it. I'd do the same thing for my siblings."
He hears a rustle in the distance and grabs his gun.
"No." She pulls out a knife. "Use manly weapons. Guns will draw them back, and everything Callie has done would've been for nothing."
He puts his gun back but unsheathes his axe from his belt. Just in case some walkers are nearby.
That's when Callie walks out of the bush, covered in blood and guts and he gags at the smell.
"What happened?" Harriett asks her, her eyes wide and her nose scrunches up at the smell.
Callie looks back towards the bush with wide eyes, terrified. But she quickly composed herself. "I- I had to hide from the herd, they caught up to me. So I..." she pauses and gestures to herself. "I improvised."
She looks behind her and sees around a dozen walkers trudging through the bushes, snarling at Harriett and Jeremy, but ignoring her completely.
"You ready?" She asks them and they nod, gripping their weapons tightly, before she slices her machete through the walker's head, blood spraying everywhere.
I'm just gonna point out, Callie will make mistakes, it's a part of her story. Which is why she didn't help the girls getting raped or the man. But also recognise the scenario? I sure hope so. But dickhead Hershel is here to stay for a bit longer, but it'll sort itself out. I want to build relationships between people so little convos here and there, gives the story more depth rather than following the show that it's an exact replica.
