Hector had an inkling of what Narcissa was about to do seconds before it happened. Yet it made the sight of his eldest daughter falling away from him into the swiftly closing sea no easier and he could not help the cry that escaped his lips joining that of Carina's and above them Henry's.

Just as the walls finished closing they were all pulled up onto the deck of the Pearl. Hector had to use the railing to help himself stand before turning to see Carina staring him.

"You're my father aren't you?" she said. Hector sighed.

"Aye that I am." Carina glanced over the side of the ship.

"Then she was my sister." He saw tears in the corners of Carina's eyes. "Did she know?"

"Not until today." Hector replied softly. He longed to comfort the girl but feared he might be unwelcome. Such thoughts were put to rest when she threw her arms around his waist. He wrapped his arms around her back holding her close.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"Because I was afraid ye wouldn't want a pirate for a father. Ye had rather grand aspirations about the kind of man I might be and I hated to disappoint ye and more selfishly didn't have the heart to risk the rejection." Hector looked down at her.

"I regret it now. If I had we might have at least a brief time together as a family."

"For one moment I had more than I had ever wanted or dreamed of," whispered Carina.

"I know treasure," said Hector his voice thick and tears in his eyes. He glanced up at Jack who along with the rest of the crew hand removed their hats.

"Pirates life Narcissa," his old friend said with reverence.

It was late as Carina stood by the edge of the Pearl looking out across the dark water with Jack the monkey, who seemed to have attached himself to her, sat on her shoulder.

The Pearl and the Dutchman were both making for the island Saint Lucien which was fortunately about a day's sale from their current spot. For the Pearl's crew it was to break the new of Narcissa's death to the Turner's and for the Dutchman a chance to do some major repairs as their ship had taken quite the beating against Salazar. Carina had been shocked by the immense grief on the faces of Narcissa's crew still getting used to the idea of pirates a people.

She didn't think she'd ever forget the way Mister Flint's face had gone white as snow before slackening in sadness upon hearing the news nor how Henry Zimmer had burst into tears.

She actually hadn't spoken much with her father after their moment of shared grief. Not out of anger but all the questions she thought she'd have for him seemed irrelevant in the face of their current loss.

Narcissa's behavior towards her now made infinitely more sense and it grieved her to know that she'd never have the chance to better know the woman who she had felt so connected with. She'd spent her life searching for her family only to lose a part of it the second she learned the truth.

She heard a clunking behind her and knew her father was approaching.

"We'll be there by daybreak." He said glancing up at the starry sky.

"I feel horrid for Henry's parents. She may have been my biological half sister but his parents grew up with her. It'll be even worse for them."

"Aye, the Turner boy has insisted on breaking the news to them. Which might be better. The Turner's and I are on friendlier terms than we once were but I'm not exactly family to them."

"Well, you're family to me," Carina said softly placing her small hand over his larger one.

"Thank ye." He replied softly. She looked into his eyes and saw the love and care she had longed for her entire life. It didn't matter to her that he was a pirate. Not in the slightest. They had a great deal to learn about each other and thankfully he seemed as open to that as she was. But the matter of her sister's death would need to be dealt with first.

Flint was still marveling over the fact that his Captain was dead. She'd been the best he'd ever served under. Strong and decisive but also willing to take the advice of those who knew more.

He'd even like to think that they'd become friends after a fashion. It seemed wrong for her to die. Even if it was to save her family as those who had been on the anchor had explained.

The Dutchman was never going to be the same without her. Breaking the news to his men and seeing the sadness fill their face had been the hardest thing he'd ever done.

Ordinarily there would have been some sort of celebration over the breaking of their curse. But none seemed in the mood for revelry with their beloved Captain gone.

To top it off command of the Dutchman was his now Flint's. But he really wished it weren't.

They docked at Saint Lucien which was split between the pirates and the more respectable folk so to speak, mostly merchants, that settled there. Both sides kept to themselves. The Turner's had apparently chosen to live here to so that the Dutchman would be able to freely dock for Narcissa's visits.

Henry was not looking forward to breaking the news of his aunt's death to his mother but he figured they'd take it better from him than Captain Barbossa. It hurt to lose his aunt. He held onto the medallion she had given him, wishing there was some way he could change things. Despite being and undead Captain she had been so full of life that it seemed strange to imagine her gone.

It was a somber crowd that disembarked the ships. Henry's mother ran to hug him as he reached land.

"Oh, Henry I'm so glad you're safe. We've been worried." She pulled back her smile fading as she saw his face. Behind her Henry's father approached.

"Hello Henry. I see the Dutchman is here has Cissa come to call?"

"Not quite," said Henry softly before taking a deep breath. "Aunt Cissa's dead." Confusion filled his parent's faces.

"What?" said his mother. "Henry she's the Captain of the Dutchman she can't die."

"That was true until the curse of the Dutchman was broken," said a tired voice from behind Henry. Glancing back he saw Captain Barbossa had come up along with Carina.

"Captain Barbossa," said Henry's father.

"Mr. Turner. Mrs. Turner. I can assure ye I'm just as aggrieved to give you the news as ye are to receive it."

"Good god it can't be true." whispered Henry's mother clutching his father's arm. William Turner wrapped an arm about his wife.

"I think you have a lot to explain."

They headed back to the Turner's house which was quite large and fancy. The dark haired girl next to Barbossa had been introduced as his daughter Carina to the mild shock of the Turner's although having grown up with Captain Barbossa's eldest daughter the idea of him having a child wasn't exactly that ludicrous .

Bootstrap Bill greeted them at the house he was understandably terse with Barbossa but seemed willing to be cordial especially after seeing the old sea Captain's evident grief. They all sat round the dining room table while Henry, Carina, Jack, Mr. Flint, and Barbossa explained the story of the Trident.

Elizabeth felt devastated. For the second time now, she had lost her darling sister. The woman who had always been protective of her from the very beginning. She had been sorry to see Narcissa tied to the Dutchman but at the same time it had given her some surety as to her sister's safety. After all, someone would have to get past Elizabeth to reach Narcissa's heart which for many years now had been buried in a chest under the floorboards of her and Will's bed.

Never had she dreamed her own son would be bringing back the news of her sister's death. She had long since ceased trying to dry her eyes as the tears only continued to flow. Will had his arm around her and she could tell he was trying to keep it together for her sake.

"This is my fault. I had a sword I should have killed Salazar while we were still down there. As soon as we broke the trident," sighed Henry taking a swig of wine. Elizabeth was about to disagree but to her surprise it was Captain Barbossa that beat her to it.

"That wouldn't have helped much lad. She was dying from the moment that trident broke."

"What?" said Carina and Henry in surprise, however understand crossed Mister Flint's face.

"The curse on the Dutchman was what kept her alive boy. I take it she regained her old wound as well as her mortality when curse was broken," the grey bearded man said glancing at Barbossa for confirmation.

"I'm sorry what?" said Carina sounding confused. Will who hadn't spoken a word since they began their story answered her question.

"Back when we battled Davy Jones and the East India Trading Company, Jones was about to stab me. Narcissa took the blow instead and his sword hit right next to her heart. There was no surviving a blow like that. If we're going for blame it was my fault she got wounded in the first place."

"Did she know what breaking the trident meant?" asked Carina.

"I expect she did Miss Smyth," whispered Elizabeth her words confirmed by a nod from Captain Barbossa. She knew her sister as well as she knew herself and it was exactly like her sister to be willing to sacrifice her own life for her family.

Carina looked in awe and sadness and it occurred to Elizabeth that this girl too had lost a sister.

"She was so brave."

"Indeed. Perhaps, it is my fault. I should have stopped her going down. Maybe we could have healed her on deck when the trident broke," sighed Barbossa.

"Oh, stow it mate. It's not your fault, or the whelps, or his offspring's, or anyone else here for that matter. The only people at fault for this was old fish face for stabbing her and Salazar for making the mistake of posing a threat to the lass's family." said Jack unusually sharply.

"We all know she was as fierce and stubborn as the sea itself. Nobody could have made her do anything. She made her own choices and I don't think she'd appreciate you lot blam'in yerselves for something that you didn't have control over. Savvy?"

"Jack's right. The Captain couldn't be stopped once she made up her mind. Nobody could have stopped her from going down to the tomb or taking down Salazar." agreed Flint.

"We're all going to miss her. Murmured Elizabeth. Narcissa Barbossa. Friend, sister, daughter, Captain. She had meant so much to so many here at this table whether they'd known her for years or days. And now she was gone. Briefly Elizabeth remembered words said by Gibbs in Tia Dalma's hut after the Kraken ate Jack words that felt oddly fitting now.

"And already the world seems a little less bright."

Author's Note: This is not the end yet we've got one more chapter to go but I'm not saying anything on whether or not Narcissa will live or die so you will want to keep the comments coming. I thought it would be good to show from different perspectives how Narcissa's death affects the different characters so I hope you like this! Please leave a note in the comments please leave a note
